When you walk into this small, privately owned family restaurant, it takes you back to Europe. The owners are from the European country, Georgia, which used to be part of Russia. I went with 45 women from our development. When you walk into the restaurant, we were greeted warmly from the owner, Katie. Her mom does the cooking and she has a baker who gets there at 5:00 am to start making the breads. Many of their counter displayed - jarred items come directly from their home country. We started out with a savory, fresh salad of tomatoes, cucumbers and thinly sliced red onions. We were served, their classic cheese pie, Khink Ali, which is like a wonton, with 3 types of ground meat, eggplant, beef stew, chicken kabobs and a most delicious dessert. They make everything fresh for you. Nothing was prepared ahead of time. While we were there, Katie, had a video of her country and was explaining pieces of it. This was very intimate, since we took up the whole restaurant. If Bread House has no fans, I'm literally DEAD. DEAD I say! No, but who was going to tell me amazing Georgian food was a hop skip and a jump from my house?? It's a very small, VERY cute little bakery with five tables for dine-in. There's tons of parking all around. We ordered the Gebarabude salad, Ajaruli Khachapuri, Julien, and the Phkaali Trio to share. Great googley moogley...how I've missed Georgian food!!! The Ajaruli is a cheese lover's dream (certified cheese lover here). And the eggplant rolls in the Phkaali Trio - PERFECTION. Our server was so so sweet and answered all of our questions. Found this place with my mom after coming back from a full day outing. The restaurant/cafe is located in a small strip mall. The restaurant itself is very much like a cafe and cutely decorated. I liked how they have the menus standing up on the tables so that both parties can view the menus at the same time! Service was friendly and relatively quick. I appreciated that they checked in throughout the meal and asked if there was anything else we wanted/needed during our meal. Regarding the food, I liked the presentation of the appetizer platter and thought the spreads had good variety of flavor and texture. It wasn't my favorite, but I thought it goes well with the bread and is a great dish to share. The pork and potatoes dish in the hot bowl however, was DELICIOUS. Since this picture, I've gotten it twice again. The pork and shallots are savory, juicy, and melt in your mouth. The potatoes have a slight crisp outside with a very fluffy inside. My mom got their chicken soup dish and we thought it was very comforting and healthy. The broth was light but savory and the chicken was very tender. One of the owners(?) recommended we try our meat with a plum sauce. It brought out all the flavors of each meat dish and I wish I knew what that sauce specifically was so I could order it again. Just checked out this spot. Food was good, the baked items hard to pronounce but very easy to eat, loved it, the cheese pies especially. Food was so good that we took some to go. The only disappointment was the soups, they had potential and the looks but not the taste (meat was rubbery and way way overcooked). Service was very nice and attentive. Ambiance was authentic and nice. Place is a little small, can't imagine having a large group there. Will definitely come back and try some more stuff. Don't eat spicy foods without a backup plan. I'm not Georgian, but I'm thinking of moving to Georgia after trying this place. The country, not the state. The biggest call to fame are the Khinkali (meat dumplings) and the Ajaruli Khachapuri (those bread, cheese, egg float things). I showed up on 5 separate occasions in the afternoon and evening, and they always had a table for me, so reservations aren't too necessary unless you're bringing a big crowd. If you need to feed multiple people, better to order ahead of time and bring everything to your house instead. Of this restaurant's menu items, I've had: - Chakhokhbili - Khinkali - Ajaruli Khachapuri - Chashushuli - Satsivi Satsivi is the least liked out of them for me. It's basically chicken in garlic sauce, but it's cold. Appropriate since it's an appetizer, but I, in all my illiterate glory, was caught off guard by the chill temperature when I first tried it. My most favorite is a tie between the Ajaruli Khachapuri and the Chashushuli. As a fan of pizza and eggs, I do appreciate the Ajaruli Khachapuri's bold decision to forgo tomato sauce and go all in on the sunny side up egg at the center. It is a hefty, baked item, so I suggest bringing a partner to share. Otherwise, you would most likely have to save it for leftovers. For people who like beef stew, Chashushuli is as close as you get. One final thing to mention is that they give you a generous portion of baked bread to have alongside your meal. If you're trying to reduce carbs, this place is temptation central, and you should probably skip or request they don't give you any or only a little. If you are not and like freshly baked bread, this place is Heaven. Don't know if they include free baked bread in deliveries or pickup, though. Expect to pay a maximum of $30 (tips included) if you have one entree with no dessert. read more

We came here for the first time based on the great reviews. I appreciated the warm wooden interior with framed artwork of Georgian scenery. Service, although, efficient, was not very personable or friendly. But, having traveled in Eastern Europe, that is not out of the norm. We ordered the Georgian Salad, Imeruli Kachapuri, and the Chicken kebabs. The salad was delicious; fresh, hearty and tasty. We enjoyed the Kachapuri as well, although, after eating this heavy buttered and cheesed bread, one does feel overindulgent. The only let down was our main entree, unfortunately. The Chicken Kebabs, looked beautiful, however they were very dry, slightly burnt and tough. They offer Georgian wine to accompany your meal. The restaurant also sells fresh baked bread, jams and other items. Note: We were provided a basket of bread, which we assumed was complimentary. I've been wanting to give this place a try for a very long time. We finally got a chance to come for dinner. We were immediately seated after arriving.The place is small and cozy, with a loaded bakery counter situated in the back alongside another counter that's loaded with jarred and bottled goods. The counter with the jars and bottles also has the Georgian flag hanging over it and the brick walls have framed pictures and cultural clothing hanging on them. We got the eggplant boat, which is marinated and grilled eggplant, squash, bell peppers and sweet caramelized onions, seasoned with fresh herbs and purple basol. Hubs loved the eggplant boat and said that it was his favorite item all night long. Daughter was going to order the Stuffed Cabbage, which has chopped meat and rice with Georgian herbs. Sadly, they didn't have it available because it was seasonal. She chose Chashushuli, which is slow cooked beef stew with fresh herbs and house bread served on a summery clay plate, and thought it was very soft and delicious. She said that she never had meat stew that tasted like this before. The flavors were out of this world and she would order it again. Hubs ordered the Chanakhi, which is slow cooked lamb stew with seasonal vegetables, Georgian seasonings and fresh herbs, served on a summery clay pot with house bread. The presentation looked cute but Hubs liked the eggplant boat more. Lastly, I got the Ajabuli Khachapuri, which is a baked boat shaped pie with gooey, cheesy cheese and a raw egg that you stirred into the cheese. This was nice and delicious and is usually a favorite of mine whenever I go into a Georgian restaurant. Service was friendly and fast. First Georgian food experience. As soon as you step into the restaurant you are greeted with the scent of fresh baked bread. The atmosphere it just pleasantly relaxing in overall with the soft Georgian music in the background and the dimmed lights. The food was great with everything arriving very quick to our table. The bread was great, nice crunch on the outside with a soft inside. The Chanakhi was incredibly good, you could taste every component in every bite, and they all paired flawlessly with the right amount of spices. First time trying Georgian food, but upon looking at the map and its proximity to Turkey, I realized why the food was so appetizing to me. They had kebabs and baklava on the menu, which were familiar to me, but also a variety of items that were new yet familiar in taste as well. Next time I will try completely new foods that are unique to Georgia. Not sure who attended to us, but she seemed like the owner, and asked how we liked the food and seemed proud of the place as well. We visited the bread house last night for dinner. It was a fun experience to try Georgian food! We started with the Pkhaali Trip with eggplant roll. It was a delicious array of blended spices. We ate it with the bread served. For entrees we shared a few different menu items. The Khinkali with beef and pork were absolutely delicious. I would label them as a soup dumpling. I was picking up the plate and drinking the dumpling juice. It was very flavorful. We also had the Chanakhi. The lamb was tender and the spices were right on, but I think there were only about 3 pieces of lamb in the whole stew. Pretty disappointing for an entree. Finally, we ordered the Bread House appetizer to share as well. If you like chicken liver, this had a delicious sauce and the onions were perfectly sautéed. This was actually a huge portion- complete opposite of the Chanakhi. For dessert we had the honey cake. It was awesome! It was perfectly sweet and moist. Overall the ambiance is adorable and the service was pretty quick. They don't have a kids' menu, but they are kid friendly, and have high chairs. If you want water, they charge you $2.00 for a bottle of water. I would come back and order the dumplings again, and try some other things on the menu! read more

I've been here on more than one occasion and tried almost every dish available. My favorites are harcho, lulya kebab, and all those cheesy creations that take 6 people to eat. Place is BYOB, take advantage of this. IF you feel like bringing a group of 6 or more - make sure to have a reservation and be prepared to flex a little on timing. Also while restaurant does not looks too busy in the dining room - takeout orders keep them very busy; some wait time should be expected. Dont want to spoil you over food: just come here and come hungry. They also sell variety of extra products that are not available in many other places. Bread was a bit overpriced, but still good. They served up all types of traditional dishes so we ordered their Khinkali a traditional Georgian dumpling that was soft and slightly chewy, while the filling is savory and flavorful. As for our favorite dish Khachapuri aka their Cheese Bread had melted cheese that was gooey, rich, and creamy in soft, pillowy bread. If you are a cheese lover you'll enjoy this delicious dish. Another traditional dish we ordered was the Pkhali Trio with Eggplant. The vegetables were finely chopped that are mixed with ground nuts, herbs, and spices to create a flavorful spread that went well with the Georgian bread. The Eggplant pkhali, in particular, had a rich and slightly smoky flavor. We couldn't leave without getting the Georgian pastry called Kada. It was delicious! Very disappointed with this place. The lamb stew only has 3 pieces of lamb and mostly potatoes. I asked for extra bread, girl took the basket with 2 small pieces of bread left and added 3 small pieces and charged me for $4 extra for the bread that was mot even 1/8 of the loaf of bread that I bought that cost $4 too. When i questioned it they said that all restaurants charged for extra bread which is not true and they should have disclosed it before they added 3 small pieces of bread for $4. I lived in Georgia, I love Georgian cuisine. Been to this cafe several times. It gave the impression of a cozy, homely establishment. Not always fast and not everything is tasty, but bearable. Ordered for home yesterday. Instead of the ordered mutton kebabs, a kebab was packed, objections were not accepted, in a very unkind and, in conclusion, rude form. Went out to dinner at the Bread House on a Wed. night with my wife and daughter. There were other people in the restaurant but it was not overly busy. We had brought our own wine, but I asked for a glass of water. The server brought me a water bottle, which I later learned cost $2. We ordered the eggplant boat as an appetizer to share. the ladies ordered Chashushuli (beef stew) and I ordered the Khinkali (beef dumpling). The eggplant arrived fairly quickly but we had barely started on it when the two stew dishes arrived. It took another 20 to 30 minutes for the dumplings to appear. They were not worth the wait. The stew was good, the dumplings were fist sized lumps of boiled dough filled with meat and a lot of water. I ate the meat, it was boiled and bland, tried the dumpling wrapper, it was gummy and unappetizing. When I asked why there was such a delay in meal delivery, I was told the dumplings take longer, yet the server made no mention of that when I ordered. Overall service could have been much better, possibly there is a cultural problem, I expected American standard server service and meal cadence (where all the diners meals are delivered within 5 minutes of each other or you are told up front about any potential delay). There are too many other restaurants in Monmouth County, I will not be back to this one. PS. Dinner for 3 was $63 plus $12 tip = $75. I went home and had a sandwich. read more

The diner interior is nice and has some Georgian resemblance. It is January and 23F outside, inside of this place maybe 63. Therefore we had to sit with our jackets on; the waitress brought us a portable hitter that did not work. :-( Half of the entrees from the menu we tried to order were unavailable. :-( We ordered Harcho soup that was very far from what it suppose to be. The spoons they provided for us to eat the soup were teaspoons. On my question, if they have diner spoons, the waitress answered 'No' but later brought us two. Two out of 4 people who ordered the soup!!!. The shish kebab I ordered was just a 'shish kebab' imitation. The Lula kebab my husband ordered was better. The only Bread and khachapuri were addible and tasty. Not recommended to people who understand why they are in Georgian cuisine place. I will start with a positive review before I give all the negatives which is why I'll NEVER go back. I ordered the lamb And chinkhali which were the only good things I ate off the whole menu. The georgian salad looked old and was gross without any flavor. It was painful to eat. The service was horrible. I waited an hour for my food and tried to cancel but was told that it was in the works. The bread was served COLD and this place called itself a bread house. I was shocked- so many ways to serve lavash but this was just raw and no love put into it. Drinks never came, and when they finally did it was in a can without a cup and lemon wedge as asked.
