Munchies is a great neighborhood fast food restaurant found in a little plaza near the Elston/Addison/Kimball intersection. They have a variety of food on the menu from burgers, hotdogs, gyro plates, chicken tenders, pizza, etc. I love coming here because they have pizza puffs!! Whenever I am in need of a pizza puff fix I come here to satisfy that craving. It's small inside but they have a few tables available if you would like to dine in. My little family of 4 dines here sometimes whenever we have the munchies! The fries that come with the combo meals are a huge portion and are nicely seasoned. The food was ok for a while til the woman Owner who parks her Lexus in front of the restaurant started talking down to me and said you never had a Polish hotdog before ? I told her the Polish hotdog look like a regular hotdog and it wasn't the size of a Polish. I will never return. The Mexican guy who cooks is wonderful he doesn't say much and he does a great job. I'm pretty sure she's in business because of him. She doesn't even dress to code and put a hair net to cover her hair for sanitation purposes .Unfortunately I will not return to this restaurant because of her. she even charges three dollars for garlic bread and that's not even the whole bread but a slice of French bread too. It's really not even about the food but it's the attitude and she should also put more lighting in her restaurant. She even approached me one time when a disabled customer who is mentally challenged was sitting next to me I didn't mind, but she approached me and said you can go sit somewhere else so you don't get bothered I don't know what her problem is. We've ordered for here a few times when we feel like having some diner-like food. We usually go for the gyro plate which gives a very generous portion of meat, along w a pita, fries, tomatoes, onions, side of tzatziki. We also get cups of cheese (one is good for two ppl but I always forget that). Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get - I think our entire meal w grubhub delivery and tip was less than $40 (which included 2 drinks). Munchies was my go-to gyro place. When I used to live in uptown and these were the best gyros in my delivery area. I ordered a gyro sandwich and an Italian beef for my friend. We got our food very quickly, and it was delicious. My friend told me her Italian beef has great. My gyro never lets me down,munchies has really good sauce and great meat. This was perfect when I came back to Chicago I made sure Munchies was one of my stops. The deliver service is also really great. Everyone of the drivers are really nice. About 2 weeks ago, i tasted their steak burrito as take out and it wasn't that great. It was mushy and bland. Around 1045am, I brought my daughter for dine in today. This small location have a capcity of 28 peoole total. Bar seats along a counter by a wall and tables near the store front. We ordered 12inch pepperoni pizza $9 and 1liter rc for $1.79- rather than get a pepperoni or sausage slice for $2.25 (cheese $2). The employee mentioned the pizza will be done in 30 minutes because of the pizza stove isn't warmed up yet. With chili peppers and parmesan cheese, the pizza was decent. Menu consists of: Food specials with fries & pop, appetizers, sandwiches, subs, salads, and dinner food. Small parking lot. Munchies & More is between a liquor store and Social Club. If I had life to do over again, I would have built up a business nest egg and opened a quick slice pizza place (heavy on the grease) named "Munchies." It would be the kind of place that would have food to satisfy those with the condition contained in the name. It would have made a mint I'm sure (and I'd be chilling on a beach in a place with no winter). Unluckily for my wallet but luckily for my stomach, someone already did just that. Whoever came up with that name was a marketing expert (or at least a stoner with a good drug induced idea). Except in one respect - location (location, location). Though this place is surprisingly close to the shopping district on Elston Avenue, it feels so isolated in a mini-strip mall that the only way I knew it was there was passing by it at random on the way home from the Chicago North DMV. The slices are tangy, not too cheesy, thin crust pieces of delight at $1.25 (or $1.50 for carnivores). I got two and it was pretty much a filling 1/4 pizza. They also have full diner and sandwich menus. Were this place actually in a neighborhood with anyone under 40, it would probably be a busy hangout spot. There are video games in the dining area, ample seating (considering how small the place is), and a laid back staff (I figured walking in this might be an unfriendly to strangers neighborhood type of place). So maybe I haven't missed my chance. Maybe I should open a Munchies West in a hipper neighborhood (if I could get a loan in this economic climate). read more

Very disappointing. I ordered a large pizza and an order of mozz sticks. I ordered them online for pick up. THEIR website said it would be ready by 10:30 as I originally requested a 10:15 pick up time. I show up about 10:40 and the young lady at the front desk informed me it wouldn't be ready for another half hour as she said the pizza oven needed time to warm up. I told her that the time was what THEY suggested. If it wasn't gonna be ready by THEIR time why would it give me a time? She said she didn't know. She then blamed me because she said she tried to call me and tell me. Now, I did receive a call from an unknown number so I did not pick up. I asked her why a message wasn't left. Again, she didn't know. Since I already paid for it I told her I'd come back. If I didn't pay already I would have just canceled. I went back and got my food. The flavor was bland on both items and definitely does not deserve a revisit. The only reason they received 2 stars is that for a large pizza with 1 topping and a side and a drink all for about $15. That's not a bad price. Other than that it would be 1 star. If only the food was better and the counter person was better at her job and knew how phone communication worked! read more

Never been to the actual restaurant, but have ordered food from here several times. I have to say that I've not had a bad experience yet. One of the joys of delivery is that it comes to your house and you don't have to leave it. The downside is that if you order fried food (why WOULDN'T you?), if the restaurant packages it wrong, it's cold or the condensation has stuck to the food and it's vaguely damp in a really unpleasant way. All the food that I've ordered from these guys has shown up hot, crispy, and not gross. Pizza sold by the slice. Slice combos available as well with fries and drink for about $6 plus tax. Char foods tend to be the favorite here as are the chicken gyros, delivery guys come and go often. I love Munchies! It's our "go to" place on Sundays. Their pizza is awesome for fast food pizza. I mean it's no Pequods or Lou Mal's but it's above par fast food pizza. I love the sweet sauce. And for $11.99 for a large 1 topping pizza you can't beat that. They have a wide range of items on their menu from hot dogs to tamales to gyros to tacos to a bucket of rib tips. Fast food wise you can get pretty much anything you want here. And the prices are fair. This is a great fast food joint if you are in the neighborhood. read more

Been going to munchies for about 10 years. I moved away from the area, but when I got a taste for a chicken sandwich, this was the place to go. Unfortunately, my last time there, I ordered 2 chicken sandwiches to go around 9pm. Got home and began to eat my sandwich, the other I gave to my girlfriend. I noticed that my sandwich had some hard to chew chicken along with a piece that was normal. I was hungry so I ate it. The next day, my girlfriend ate her second half of her sandwich and told me part of her sandwich had a hard chewing piece so she gave it to the dog. The next day, I called to complain about this and at 1st was told to come in for 2 free sandwiches for the inconvenience. I ordered a beef sandwich dipped with peppers and it was good. The fries were crispy. They had tons of lunch specials. Parking was easy (they have a lot) and the service was fast. I LOVE the chicken sandwich (on pita) their grilled chikcen salad with oil and vinager is also amazing (very tasty chicken) gyros is deelish and I just ordered the pizza puff today, so I'll report back on that. I live in a household of 8 people. Whenever we order from Munchies everyone can pretty much order what they want. Their food has been consistently good and pretty fast. I have ordered delivery from there as well. Try their cheesy bread. For about $1, it's like having a slice of cheese pizza with 4x the cheese. Sooo good! So I decided to give them a try. When I first called I was greeted by a very professional and friendly worker. They repeated everything I ordered.
