The fish and fries were good and had nice flavor. However, we did not enjoy the chicken. It lacked seasoning, and the extra seasoning we requested was not added at all, which was disappointing.

We ordered a family chicken meal, and a whole catfish & oyster combo which included a side and a can soda. We gave the special instructions to fry the fish and oysters soft & we chose corn nuggets as the side and added a side order of crab balls for the birthday guy. It took about 15 minutes for everything to be ready. The order was accurate although the items we requested to have fried soft could have been a tad bit softer. We were able to get our own condiments while waiting which included hot sauce cups, ketchup, tarter sauce and bbq sauce cups. The cashier gave us the soda (sprite) when picking up the food. Note: The family orders do not automatically include a drink & the drinks are about $3 if desired. Overall, the food was good & everyone was happy! I liked the chicken and thought the corn nuggets and crab balls were fresh and flavorful too. The fries were not my favorite on this visit. Dad loved his fried fish & had enough to save some for later.

To sum this spot up in one word: REAL…read more It's SO Atlanta, it's SO for the culture, and it's SO tasty. The first time I went (and each time after that) there's been a line, but they're efficient and it moves very fast, so don't let that scare you off. Once you enter, the walls are decorated with everything from album art to Freaknik pics, murals, and even mugshots of some of your favorite rappers. I always pass my time in line by looking at them all. There's even a nostalgic old living room setting with plastic on the couch and other Black household nostalgia pieces that just make you feel a way. Now about the food. I have a thing for the crack wings (tangy crack wings to be specific). I don't know who thought of that recipe, but it works and it's a must-try. Really, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Much respect to the staff, and obviously I'll be back again soon.

Where do I even begin? Let's start with the positives. First off, no need to visit The Trap House…read moreMuseum, the decor here gives you that experience for free. I'll give credit where it's due: the nostalgic touches were on point and definitely felt familiar. They've got specials for the "brokies," but where they cut costs, they also cut quality. On the service side, the gentleman taking my order was pleasant and patient, which I appreciated. Now the food; fries were hot, well-seasoned, and exactly how I like them. I'm big on temperature; I'd rather blow on my food than deal with anything lukewarm or cold, so they got that part right. The Lemon Peppa Steppa (lemon pepper with their "white crack" powder that honestly tastes like powdered sugar) was surprisingly good; an interesting clash of flavors that worked. That said, the upcharges are a bit wild. Charging $1.99 extra for the "Bad B*tch" flavor feels steep, and while the honey hot also costs more, it doesn't come close to a local competitor that delivers better flavor without the upcharge. Now for the downside, the wait time didn't match what came out. Hot fries, but cold, tiny, "Magic City"-sized wings? That's a miss. This experience was also a reminder not to believe everything you see on social media; sometimes you just have to try it for yourself. Would I come back? No. But I can say I had the experience.

Because of that and with online and phone orders coming in, the wait was a bit longer than expected. I ordered the chicken, shrimp, and steak hibachi along with shrimp egg rolls. To be honest, the food was very disappointing. It lacked flavor across the board, no noticeable seasoning, not even basic salt and pepper. The egg rolls were decent, but still pretty bland. The portion size was generous, which I appreciated, but overall everything just tasted like it came straight off the grill without any seasoning.

I was really looking forward to trying the wings mostly because I head Atlanta had good wings. Well I think you need to go to specific places for those great wings because this wasn't it. First I will say the girl at the register was super sweet and helpful as I tried to figure out what I want. My food also came out quickly even though it was busy. I ordered Thai chili and dry garlic parm wings a hibachi chicken with fried rice, and a key lime pie. Sigh. I didn't like any of it sadly. The chicken wings had a good flavor, but they were DRY and therefore hard to chew. It came with fries which were ok. The hibachi fried rice was made with a chewy rice. The white meat chicken pieces again were dry. I opted for no broccoli, and the cabbage and carrots that I got in it were sweet. Like why was it sweet. I tried to add hot sauce and soy sauce to make it less sweet. But man it was still too sweet. Lastly the key lime pie was...interesting. The crust was loose and dry as if it was missing butter to bind it. The key lime was like a thick gelatin and not custardy. At the end of the day, being from California, I think it's a regional thing. Like I said the place was packed and the reviews are decent. So maybe I'm just used to a different style of cooking. I wouldn't suggest this place though.
