I camped out here last weekend. The site was clean. This is a no-frills adult campground. My first…read moresite was okay, but someone across from us was a smoker and I did not want to be breathing in smoke the whole weekend. I ended up in a great spot surrounded by pine trees. The staff and campers were all kind. It is conveniently located close to Portland and allows dogs. Despite no on-site store, I would definitely recommend staying here. Thank you for a lovely weekend!

Worst camping experience we've had in 50 years of RV experience. It starts when you try to enter…read morethe campground and have to drive over bumps/holes that will absolutely tear up your rig (Seriously, it broke bolts and caused damage to our lights. We will be seeking compensation for those damages. They broke dishes, caused the pantry door to fly open and all our groceries to fall out ruined.). This place is not well-maintained at all. The sites are practically on top of each other. There is no room to set up anything. Anything you need to do here is an additional charge. The bathrooms are sweltering and full of bugs (Who builds a campsite next to a swamp?!). There never seems to be anyone in the office during the business hours they claim, and those are only 1-7:00PM. It's brilliant on their part. Checkout is two hours before the office opens, so you won't be able to complain or get anything handled before you leave. Forget getting firewood, but that's OK, 'cause there is no room for a campfire anyway. You're not allowed to actually use the trashcans or dumpster for normal travel waste, by the way. Signs say no food or beverages, food containers, etc. This place is unbelievably cramped and crowded with not nearly enough facilities for this many people. The seasonal people are unbelievably rude to the short term stay folks (no idea why). And there truly odd people wandering around in the middle of the night. No kids is a plus for noise, but I'd rather have kids disrupting the quiet than relentless, massive, swamp bugs. Also, they allow dogs.. bark all night, yap all day, untrained, loud, sometimes leashed dogs. Avoid. You are better off at a truck stop, rest area or parking lot. We will be requiring a refund as well as compensation for the damages to our motorhome and belongings. But since the operators make sure to not be available, we'll have to seek our reimbursement/refund when we get home.

My first time visiting this place, I cannot believe it took so long for me to find out about it…read more In its classic 'roadside seafood joint' styling, it doesn't stand out in the kitschy, giant lighthouse kind-of-way. This place stands out for its FOOD. Four of us went, I got the fried clams. Not clam strips, but the juicy, delectable, flavorful whole clams that include the belly (and probably other untoward clammy organs). I asked two ladies in line behind me if I wanted the regular batter or the crumb batter; they convinced me that the crumb was the right choice. They were absolutely right. If I remembered their names I would have given them both a shout out for setting me on the right path. The portion size was more than I could eat even though I did not want to stop enjoying those fabulous bivalves. If evolution had spent another billion years on these creatures it could not be possible to make them better. Perhaps proof of divine creation comes not from the written texts but from the hand of a being so beyond understanding that it vexes mankind accordingly so. Whether you call them Ipswich or Nannynose, Hen Clams or Poquauhocks, make your way to Ken's and find out just how much the human touch can bring to the humble clam. Bar is great, had their Bloody Mary which went perfectly with the clams. The servers are terrific. Tip them generously so that they may remember you as well as you will remember those glorious clams.

We have been loyal customers for as long as I can remember - at least 2 decades...maybe?…read more We are loyal because the food is consistently great, fresh and well portioned for the price you pay. The owners seemed to truly care about the customer and the customer experience - which you can tell by how the employees treat customers. It's a great culture. There is always team members cleaning and organizing the dining area. Wiping tables, filling ketchup, sweeping floors and emptying garbage bins. I have never seen them just standing around chatting. They are always moving and interact nicely with patrons, especially the elderly. They are very sweet and kind. FOOD! Our favorites....clams - strips or whole - in crumb (the more crunchy batter). Haddock - as a dinner or as a sandwich - fresh delicious fried haddock!! Grilled is good too. The clam cake is hefty and delicious. My family loves Lobster from here - mostly the lobster roll. Scallops are great! We get them once in a while when we want to spend a little more money. Once of these days I will try the hamburger, or chicken..not sure when, but some day. LOL There is a little bar area in the corner - they are a full serve bar. Usually packed with locals. The outdoor patio area is nice, especially during the spring and fall. You can drink within the roped off patio area. Parking lot is always a bit nutty. The spaces are smaller compared to how large vehicles are now, so almost every other vehicle seems to be parked on or over the lines. We have only driven away once after not being able to find parking. We love Ken's Seafood!

I recently had a most wonderful dinner at Street and Co with wonderful company!…read more Our servers were all excellent, and the food came in exactly the right amount of time. We started with burrata, a bluefish pate, and mussels for apps, and then moved right into: Bluefish tuna Lobster Fra Diavlo for two, and Roasted Branzino (which was FANTASTIC) After that, we still pursued dessert and ordered a pecan pie with in-house made ice cream and one of the most delicious rice puddings I have ever had. Overall, it was a GREAT night. 100% recommend.

We liked it more than Scales which I think might be a less popular opinion. The ambiance was very rustic and cozy. It did feel a little cramped and the first table they sat us at was in the middle of a bunch of other tables and I really don't think it would be a nice table for anyone. Thankfully they moved us to a corner/booth which was very nice of them. Even in the corner it was still a little cramped which is my reason for not giving it 5 stars. The pasta dish with lobster in a red sauce was divine. Full of other seafood in addition to the lobster like mussels and clams too. It was definitely messy but the flavor was fantastic. Tons of garlic which we love. The octopus appetizer was also delicious. Very charred which normally I wouldn't like but it worked very well with this dish. We also got hummus which was a special appetizer. It was ok- not very memorable. The desserts didn't appeal to us (maybe we were just too full). Would love to return if we find ourselves back in Portland!

Widegon Cove Trail, however, has given me a sneak peek into that world. This unexpectedly beautiful path is a wonderfully maintained loop that cuts through thick, tall forest and circles past a cove with lovely pine tree and water views regardless of tide (although low tide offers more bird watching). It's well marked, and the trail itself is charming...at some points the ground is lined on either side with fallen trees to keep you on the path, parallel planks, and stone walkways too. Want to stop and take it all in? There are many wooden benches to stop and take it all in from. Does this sound like every other trail? Maybe. But there's really something charming and whimsical about this particular one. I don't know if it's the variety of trees, the ravine like parts, the moss and mushrooms, the abundance of wildlife, but I felt like I spent my entire walk (which was admittedly short; the whole loop is maybe half a mile?) smiling... and expecting Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather to come out of nowhere and begin singing to me.

And I'm writing this review because it was at Cook's that I had the best, and I do mean the BEST, lobster roll in my life. I've had many, but none where the lobster was so sweet, so tender. I had the Jumbo buttered roll (twice the meat of the regularly roll) and there was SO much lobster in it. Yes, it was outrageously expensive $($72) but that's lobster in Maine these days. Regardless of price, it was worth it! My wife had the slightly less expensive lobster saute (she indicates that it was at least a stick of butter that was in the skillet) and likewise it was outstanding. Kudos to the cooks, the lobstermen who went out in the morning to bring in this delicious catch, and the poor crustacean who sacrified his life so that we could enjoy his/her contribution. And the service, it goes without saying, was prompt, oh so courteous, and delightful. You have to go here if you want a taste of Maine seafood.
