Shrimp Poboy and Baked Sweet Potato
    Matthew C.

Had delivery and absolutely loved it! The shrimp Po' Boy was fantastic...soft bread, bigger shrimp, perfectly breaded with generous lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles to add as desired. The mayo was light and could always use more shrimp but overall it is a terrific classic! The shrimp and crab gumbo needed no hot sauce or sprucing up of any kind, perfect flavor and consistency. The only thing that could have been better is if the same deveined shrimp used for the po' boy we're in the gumbo. Overall, strongly recommended and would love to explore other items on the menu as soon as possible!

I'm literally had everything on the menu and it's always delicious, the server Josh was super cool and funny as heck it's always a vibe at Murphys

Eh is really all I have to say to this place. Food was ok and the salad bar I added to my entree was fine but I do think it is a little overpriced. Me and my husband have passed this multiple times while dropping my brother off to southeastern so we stopped in this time. We were seated quickly and the server was really nice. It was the quality of the food that got me. We shared a seafood platter but if your really hungry that might not be enough for two to share. My husband tried the crab cake I think it was and I've never seen him get rid of something so fast before. He said it tasted freezer burnt and it was not good at all. Seafood should not taste freezer burnt especially in Louisiana. My drink tasted like juice more than anything which sucks but maybe the bartender may be the only issue with that. Overall it was average but don't think we will be back with the options around the area.

A nice family oriented seafood restaurant. You are treated with a friendly smile by the hostess and left in great hands with your server. You recieve prompt, courteous service from the get-go. Now it wasn't very busy or crowded at the time so, I couldn't tell you what kind of service you would get when the place is packed. It was myself, my wife and our daughter stopping in for lunch. We all started with the endless salad bar. Our daughter had the crawfish etouffee (and most Louisianans are very peculiar about their etouffee's) this had great flavor and tastes great. My wife had the grilled catfish which came with a baked potato that she said was flavorful and cooked to perfection. I had the catfish Daniel which is fried catfish topped with crawfish etouffee. This was awesome. Needless to say, we left no room for dessert and you definitely get your money's worth.

The food was just your typical reheated frozen food. Nothing special at all. Way better restaurants in Hammond.

Just what you are looking for in a SE LA boil pot. Now the fried shrimp Po-boy the main attraction was respectably coated in traditional corn flour seasoning minus thankfully! and void of overpowering, overly salty Cajun seasoning with what taste like lemon flavor out of box. The good sized shrimp come through and carry the flavor without any other seafood flavors out of the deep fryer. Fries also taste like potatoes and not like seafood. Seafood Gumbo was decent, flavorful not overly salty or spicy. I had rice with it and found sausage, shrimp, and okra. It's always good to taste someone else's gumbo in particular because it's cooked by the multitudes to the defense and guarded family recipe, to each their own. Can't wait to go here for oysters! The lines waiting to place an order went quick at peak times. The wait for the food was maybe 15 minutes. The wait is not a problem because the ...don't be shy say hello. Not only was it busy but it was slammed and they say it's like this all day long. My foodie cohort and I ordered 5lbs of crawfish and the shrimp and catfish platter with fries and onion rings to split. The crawfish was the best I have had and Bob agreed. What a place to visit. The folks around us were kind and friendly and referring foods and places to go. Recommend you get here and prepare for a little waiting for seating unless you just want to grab a few lbs of crawdads, shrimps, crabs and so on to take home with you. Great service, awesome ambiance and amazing food.... Remember to support your local eateries so we both don't starve...

There have been a few servers helping me out this evening and they're all sweet like sugar, very kind ladies. There's a big plaque outside (see photo attached) that says the food is "pretty good." Hey, at least they're honest! I had French onion soup and shared a steak with a baked potato. It was pretty good. 10/10 recommend for the Friday night tunes.

How the mighty fall. Mariner's Inn used to be one of my top 3 favorite restaurants in Hammond…read more Apparently the restaurant has changed hands, and the new direction it has taken disappoints me. The sports bar aspect of the business has been emphasized and the food quality diminished. The food isn't bad, but it's certainly not the standout it used to be. For example, the hamburger steak entre I ordered was okay, but it was $12 for the patty covered in gravy and mushrooms, one side, and "garlic bread." My side was plain rice - no extra brown gravy on it, despite my request - and the garlic bread strips were small. I suppose everything these days is expensive, but it felt underwhelming. I also ordered a cup of the soup of the day: shrimp and corn. My former favorite - I used to visit specifically for that dish - it's now best described as unmemorable. The service was friendly and fine, despite some mistakes. With one room now basically dedicated to the bar and pool tables, there's a more noticeable "sports bar" vibe, though I don't think there were a bunch of TVs in the dining area? I wasn't really paying attention to that. If you're looking for a place to play pool, drink, and eat something decent, sure, this is still a good bet. But if you're just looking to go out and have a great meal in Hammond, Mariner's Inn no longer makes the recommendation list.
