I've been to Murphy's frequently in the past two years. In the past year, there have been some changes. The first is the hiring of a new chef, and with it, a new menu. Since then, all of the food I have had has been superb. The volume of people who visit Taproom has also dramatically increased. This is neither a plus nor a minus depending on what kind of atmosphere you're looking for. The newly expanded deck is amazing! Especially now that spring is here, sitting outside with a great beer (selection is great) and some good food while chatting with friends is one of the highlights of my week. The staff generally seem pleasant, though I have had some negative experiences in the past. Fortunately, Keith Murphy (the owner) takes criticism and complaints seriously and is generally willing to hear your issues if you feel inclined to bring them up. Additionally, they seem to be hiring more staff to deal with the increased volume and more space. The only downside is that parking is sometimes annoying. The deck eliminated the few parking spaces that it previously had. Street parking is usually ample, but being across from the Verizon Arena, this situation can dramatically change if there is an event. The police shutting down the street for traffic control is also somewhat annoying. Every night has a different special promotion, my favorite being half-priced apps between 4-6pm and $2 drafts on Tuesday. read more

Murphy's used to be a go to place especially in the warmer months. They have outdoor seating, great beer selection and so many good menu items. After many months of not being able to go out, I was excited to be back. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and shown to a table. There were quite a few servers with masks on under their chins, why bother! Our server did have her mask on correctly. She was pleasant and offered great service. Our first three beer choices were not available, and the beer we did get was not cold. I order a Cobb salad, one of my go to's at Murphy's. It was more expensive than I remembered, but I don't mind paying for good food. My guest ordered the BBQ chicken nacho's, those too had a price increase. My salad was a large plate of iceberg, one egg, half an avocado and some bacon. No Chicken. The nachos was a very large serving of nacho chips with a sprinkle of cheese and chicken with sauce over the top. Both were disappointing. read more

Their outside deck is a pretty solid choice for a warm weekend day or night of drinking (or dining) . Inside (outback) they have a bar with bands on the weekend. Expect dancing and loud music and good times. The front bar just doesn't do it for me...not sure why, it just seems to be missing something (not sure what). They have a ton of beers on tap and they know how to make a cocktail. Also good to watch games as they have a decent amount of TVs All in all a great place to party with friends. read more

Ordered take out. A lobster roll for 20 bucks. And a "Murphy's Burger" for 18 bucks. The lobster roll was stuffed with lettuce and very little lobster meat on a toasted hot dog bun. The burger was like a hockey puck, dry and over cooked, not edible. The fries were good though so I guess it cost me 18 bucks for fries and 20 for a tiny amount of lobster meat. 42 bucks total w tax and we were still hungry. read more

I recently hosted a high school reunion here and it went flawlessly. The coordination beforehand was easy - even when the contract had the wrong times on it, it was fixed as soon as we pointed it out. Our event was in the Backroom, and it went perfectly: - our DJ had great space to set up in - the room was divided by tables, but still easy to move around in - the tab was very easy to manage with the bartender - we got to use the pool table for free - the food was delicious - we went with mac and cheese, potato skins, chicken fingers, and veggies and we ate almost every bite - the staff helped us set up a nice table in the entrance for collecting tickets The price was perfect - no room fee as long as you meet an hourly minimum for food and drinks (which we were able to do with 30 people, easily). The drinks were also very cheap and tasty. Overall, great service, great location - would highly recommend for small functions where people are mingling. Even when the room opened up to the public, we kept dancing like we owned the place! read more

Overall a great place to go and hang out outside and listen to their live band. 5 stars for the atmosphere, the beer and some of the food. 1 star for the fish (fish and chips basket) my wife and I got very sick from (feeling like your gonna die sick). This happened May 2014 and right after a SNHU graduation. I called the manager 2 days after we ate there and said my name and number would be passed along to the owner. Honestly, not impressed w/ this bar. I'll go for the $2 beer specials & outside deck seating. Not my first pick, but some of my friends love this place. I do love the name though. Great choice! We visited Murphy's in Manchester to celebrate our son's 21st birthday. We're pretty sure our server was high. We ordered our drinks and the first two beer selections were not available so other choices were made and thankfully, they were able to accommodate our choices. We ordered a plate of nachos and potato skins which took over 40 minutes to receive and the nachos were cold. Server was complexly inattentive. We will definitely need to seriously think if we will ever visit Murphy's again. read more

Worst service I have experienced! Came in with a party of 5 to grab lunch before seeing a show. Ordered food and waited and waited and waited...30 minutes later we questioned our server as to what was taking so long (after seeing another table who came in after us get their food). She disappeared for 5 minutes and came back with 1/5 of the order and assured us the rest was on its way. 10 minutes later we still had not received the rest of our order. We decided to cancel it all as we had to meet people for the show. No apology, no manager visit, just handed a check for our drinks. To say we are angry and disappointed is an understatement! Having been to Murphy's a few times and compiling my experiences I have to say I strongly dislike this bar/pub. Mostly I've sat at the bar only once in the dinning room and just ended up ordering drinks form the bar do to an M.I.A. server. The service on three occasions was pretty non-existant and lacking in the personality. Only one was good I wish I could remember her name. I have only eaten there once and it was nothing to rave about. I had a BLT with sweet potato fries, took average time to arrive but the fries were cold and soggy. They do have honey thought (for the fries). It really lacks in the Pub vibe! The front of the building is all large windows which are nice on a snowy night to gaze out. However they open the place up to much the walls are such a light color that they don't add any sort of comfort or warmness that I look for in a Pub experience. I'm basing the "Pub" vibe off the few I went to in west Ireland. Which were warm and inviting offering plenty of little nooks to relax in, surely not provided at Murphy's. Though they did let us play rummy at one of the high top tables as long as no money was on the table. O, they also have on one or two of there big T.V. this trivia game which most places would charge you for I guess its some thing to do while waiting for a beer. There is also a downstairs back room with a two fully stocked bars, last time I was there they had a band down there. Ladies bathroom has been clean and well kept on each occasion. Private parking lot is very small. Off street parking is availbule there are meeters but you don't have to pay them after 8p.m., on government holidays or on sat & sun. Kid's I think would be cool earlier in the day. But as evening rolls around it seems to be a 21-35 crowd. They take reservations for large parties, and have a function room upstairs with a fully stocked bar as well. It's just not my kind of place, but please check it out for your self you may find it nice. read more

I used to love Murphy's, the beer is great now that they have 120 beers on tap...but the food has gone wayyyy down hill the past year or so. Steak tips are never evenly cooked and are way too salty, the reuben sandwich which used to be good is now inedible. It sucks, because I used to come here probably once a month. I like coming in the summer but they do not have enough wait staff. One time we waited 1.5 hours to get our food. Most of the time you end up going to the bar to get your own drinks because the service is so slow. read more

Went to Murphy's to watch the Patriots game tonight. Wasn't super crowded which I liked. There were 4 of us. The selections of draft beers is amazing. Couldn't decide which beer to order so ordered a flight. Was delicious. We ordered nachos, Irish nachos, a Ruben sandwich and the Guinness beef stew and wings. Now I need to tell you about our server Alley. She was the most amazing waitress. So friendly and outgoing. Spent lots of time with us and found we had so many things in common. We met friends at Murphy's in Manchester last weekend. It was the worst dining experience I have ever had. The hostess threw menus at our table as she walked by. We were all confused because she seemed to be angry and we did not understand why. In the middle of eating our appetizers she told us we had to move because the table she gave us was reserved and they needed the table. We had to move our food and drinks to another table. It did not make sense because we were seated for 20 minutes or so. Why did she give us the table? They brought dinners out for our friends who ordered at the same time as we did and my husband and I were told at that time they ran out of veggie burgers so we would have to order something else. We would have understood but they waited until they served dinner to the other people at our table. When we did receive our dinner it was not good at all. Too many choices in Manchester and would not waste money again at Murphy's. read more

Murphy's is one of my favorite regular locations in Manchester. I've only eaten there a couple times and the food has been good not great. I don't recall ever having a complaint with any menu item I've ordered, nor do I recall anything about eating them at all. =) The beer specials are great and happen often. If you're looking for a great place to watch a sports event, this place will always have a big crowd. They have a great outdoor area with tons of TVs, and several times a week they have $2 for ANY BEER ON TAP. You just can't argue with $2 Guinness. The inside area is not huge, so I can see this place being less appealing in winter when it's too cold for outside, but still tons of people coming for the $2 beer. Murphy's draft beer selection is second to none. That was the draw to go there but also had a few of the apps on our visit and have to say that the Nacho's with Chili was spot on! Best Nacho's I've had north of the Boston Beer Works. Great bar atmosphere. Visited during the winter so obviously the patio & deck were closed, but i'm sure during nice weather this added space is great. The only drawback from a 5-star would be the limited amount of seats they have inside. read more
