The food is still decent and they have a great selection, but the service the last three times has been some of the worst I've ever had. A bouncer gave some woman crap for bringing in a service dog. Note to management, it's 100% illegal to refuse service to someone with a service animal. I hope that woman follows up with a legal complaint. The last time in we sat waiting for our food for 30 minutes and the surprised waitress said she had "forgotten we were even there". I "forgot" to tip we simply left for better options after wasting our time. Between pissing me off for how that woman was treated and the awful service, I am unlikely to return. read more

Never again will I contemplate drinking at Murphy's. The one solid effort I made with my ex and a friend of his led us straight back to the brew in under 10 minutes. Upon arriving at the bar, my ex asked for a beer menu - not an unreasonable request at a bar, nor was it unreasonable considering he had recently lost his glasses and could not see the taps. Instead of handing him the little list, which was located directly behind her with about a dozen of its little plastic encased menu bretheren, the bartender looked at him, ROLLED HER EYES, pointed to the taps and said "they're all right there". Then walked away.... Unbelievable. Mind you, she was not busy nor was the establishment, there were a handful of people in there on a quiet, lazy weeknight. So I grabbed a beer menu from behind the bar when this unpleasant purveyor of futility was turned away from me. Then, after our subsequent review of the list, our assesment of the atmosphere and our disgust with the staff sunk in... we bailed. Never again. The Rover has a better small, Irish-bar feel, Milly's has better beer (and is a great week-night bar), and the Brew is just better all around. read more

So I've always been loyal to Murphy's even when the Moose and other new places pop up , mostly because of the owner and because of the local feel of the place. And the beer prices were always great. We'll all good things must end I guess. I just paid $7 for a draft here. Yes is was a local micro brew but still that's a lot when there are happy hours out there. Won't be making as many stops here anymore I guess. People are still great. Review only of prices .Im updating the rating after better understanding the situation. Great beer selection but the food is awful and what's up with all the dogs in the outdoor seating area? There were literally 6 dogs when we were there this past Friday night and one patron had his dog sitting on his lap with his front paws on the table! Gross. read more

If you just want to sit and drink beer at the bar, then this place is okay. The food and service has gone to crap in the last two to three years and no one seems to care. I go only once or twice a year in order to appreciate other bars. On separate occasions, either I, or someone in my group has received nearly raw, cold, burgers, partially frozen cheese sticks, and "nachos" that consisted of a plate of warm chips. I really like murphys, its definilty my kind of bar. nice and clean inside. great selection. great happy hour specials. The food is also pretty good. last time i went i had the nachos and a turkey club. They also have outdoor seating which is nice on warm summer nights. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because I went here once with a party of 4 and one time with a party of 7 and the food came out at all random times. some of us were finished before others started. Never had this problem with 2 people though. Also this was when they first opened. read more

My to go place. This place is like Cheers where everyone knows your name. Not only is the wait staff friendly so are the chefs. Happy hour is a blast half price of 120 different beers. Update: Service has gone way down hill since my initial post 3 years ago. We used to be in the mug club here, but after terrible service time after time we only return if friends insist on going here. Oh and the last few times we had beers in our mugs, there was viable dust on the outside of the mug and floating in the beer when they served it to us because they just grabbed the mugs off the wall without even a little rinse before filling. I'm extremely disappointed that Wednesday night comedy has been canceled. I've been coming to Murphy's for 2 years to enjoy locals perform with an added bonus that beers are discounted on Wednesday nights. We found out last night that the show has been canceled without much of an explanation. After discussing this cancellation with some friends last night we realistically don't see ourselves returning to the establishment as the comedy was the main draw. I'll give Murphy's 5 stars for the laughs and memories but but cancelling this weekly event really feels like 1 star behavior. read more

I've been here for lunch at least 10 times. They have 100+ craft beers on tap and an amazing price of $2 for about 40 of them on Tues/Friday. And all the 40 are really good beers. Check out their beer menu online. The food is really good as well. I personally like the buffalo chicken wrap but the jalapeno burger is also a favorite. I've never had a bad experience. The wait staff is super friendly. I never feel rushed to leave. If you are a craft beer fan this place is a wonderful bar. It is also very close to the Verizon Wireless Arena. read more

I put together my 20 year high school reunion here on Sat. Sept 3rd. Murphy's set us up with the event room in the back and provided us with a dedicated bartender (I forgot his name, but he was great!).. The planning on our end wasn't 100% flawless, but Murphy's staff was really helpful and flexible and really helped to alleviate the stress of putting an event like this on. We were hoping to get about 50 people to show and it ended up being 75+.. It was a good time and the perfect setting for a reunion... we even had people from another reunion down the street come and join ours. I want to give a big thanks to the bartender again (grey goatee, backward hat).. He handled all the drinks, the music setup, and an entire room without anyone complaining... Went in for brunch with my friends. We were seated fairly quickly but when we were seated nobody handed us any menus (a simple mistake perhaps) however the man waiting our table seemed terribly flustered for what seemed to be no reason. There was plenty of tables open, so it wasn't a full house. We finally got our order placed. Waiting time for food wasn't too bad. The food was okay. Would have liked more hollandaise on my Benedict and my side of home fries was only a few pieces of potato. We had to ask for maple syrup and ketchup as none was provided for us when the food arrived. We asked for a side of hollandaise and it wasn't delivered to our table until we had already finished eating. The people working seemed to be moving slow, and not doing too much. I am willing to give this place another chance based on reviews I've read. Perhaps this is a better late-night place to visit. read more

They have an amazing beer selection here and the food has been spot on every time, delicious and plentiful. The mussels are quite good, highly recommended. The burgers and wraps are all tasty but nothing really spectacular. My friends say the fish and chips are excellent. The downstairs has a bit of a dive feel to it so we prefer the upstairs. We will have to try the upstairs patio once summer comes. read more

Visited here 11/20/09 before the Monarchs game. The front room is very open and spacious, but a little loud. Ordered the nachos appetizer, BLT with fries and the Chicken Sandwich with sweet potato fries. All were pretty good tasting, good sized portions, but the sweet potato fries were probably the best I've had anywhere. Overall a good experience, but our server went missing towards the end of the meal so had to wait a little bit to pay my check. I think they may have been short-staffed at the time. read more

Murphy's taproom is a great place to go after a concert, after the ball game, on a warm summer night when you want to sit on the deck and listen to music or really any time when you want to just hang out with friends. The mussels in Guinness are awesome. All the pub food is really good, the beer is always cold, and the waitstaff is fantastic. I go there often and every experience has been great. read more

Went to Murphy's just yesterday before seeing a show at the Verizon center. We chose this place based on the reviews on Yelp. The place was busy. We were told to go downstairs. We found seats easily at the bar. There were only 2 bartenders for the entire area. There was no waitstaff for food. We watched as both bartenders walked past a plate of nachos for a good 10 minutes. The bartender finally took the plate from the end of the bar and put it in front of another patron sitting next to us. The nachos were stone cold. Every one in our party our food was cold, fries too. No one bothered to send the food back. The bartender didn't bother to ask if the food was acceptable. We had to ask for silverware and ketchup. One member of our party ordered a burger, medium well. The burger finally came but was seared on the outside and RAW in the middle. She asked for mayo and utensils. Her mayo and untensils never came. She didn't bother to eat any of it. It was disgusting. Another member of our party ordered a Ruben. The Ruben was tough and full of hard grissle. The staff was completely overwhelmed, understaffed and inexperienced for a crowd like this. We did not blame our staff but the managment at Murphys leaves a lot to be desired. Please tell your bartender that her BRA is not an acceptable place to store the bottle opener when tending bar. That is just nasty. Never again. read more

This place can be hit or miss, depending on day and server. For the most part this is a good place to relax, have some drinks, and catch up with friends. Inside it is quiet enough even on weekend nights to have a conversation. The outdoor seating is great on nice summer nights and live music is usually a good listen, although it can often be quite loud, making conversation somewhat difficult. Food here is nothing to write home but the drink list is expansive and provides options for beer lovers and cocktail enthusiasts alike. I personally would recommend the Jolly Rancher shot for anyone with a sweet tooth looking for a shot that doesn't taste too strong (although buyer beware: these will sneak up on you). Most servers are friendly and attentive although there are a couple servers that have been short and rude with me and my friends. All around a decent place for an evening drink (or a few), especially on a warm summer night. read more

I am visiting from out of town and stopped by the other day. I was sitting on the deck with a girlfriend of mine. Steph was our waitress. I was impressed with the wide variety of beer that was on tap. I ordered nachos and they were delicious. Steph was friendly and very knowledgeable on the menus. Friendly staff, live music on the patio, a great summer hang. Fish and chips was solid and the beer selection was overwhelming, albeit satisfying. Good open bar, 20 to 30 beers on tap and always some sort of beer specials running. There is live music in the back most nights and they always have sports on the TVs. The food is passable but not the greatest by any means though the portionsa re pretty big. Good location helps a lot. Gets a little too packed on the weekends sometimes and the service is sometimes slow but overall a solid place to get a beer and relax for a while. read more

He is like a local celebrity as he knows a lot of his customers by name and the crowd really enjoys his expertise.
