Went in for a first visit and got dental cleaning then came back for a cavity filling & a chipped tooth. After that went in to get wisdom teeth removed. All experiences have been great! I saw Andrew Tibbitts a couple of months after suffering a burst fracture of the thoracic spine. Spinal fractures take a long time to heal (recovery can take a year or more). I couldn't wash my feet during those days (bending was dangerous, + even breathing was very painful). During one of my visits, I heard the doctor and his colleague laughing about "she's pretty but her feet smell" (Tibbitts KNEW about my recent spinal fracture! I wish you had the same hard experience, Andrew Tibbitts and your fancy colleague). When Tibbitts installed one of the crowns on my front teeth, it turned out to be too short (all the years after this, the partially naked tooth was/is sensitive and at increased risk of cavities because the upper part of the tooth became exposed). During my last visit, while placing a crown, Tibbitts pressed it TERRIBLY hard with his muscular arms--he practically leaned his entire large body on my poor head and neck! I moaned in intense pain. My neck hurt so much afterward--the pain was comparable to the spinal fracture (10 out of 10)! But neither dr Tibbitts nor his assistant noticed that I was clearly in a lot of pain. I'm not a whiner; on the contrary, I've always tended to downplay my pain for myself and others. Dr Tibbitts even praised me for my patience (due to an allergy to anesthetics, I was given less anesthesia or none at all--I asked about this). I think he damaged one of the tiny bones of one of the vertebrae in my cervical spine near the base of my skull. My neck hurt terribly for MONTHS afterward! I was forced to wear a special brace for several months (in SoCal hot summer). When I left that office (for good), I told his assistant that my neck was now in a lot of pain--it seemed the doctor had damaged something there. After this, I heard the assistant told dr Tibbitts I was crazy and that I didn't have a thoracic spinal fracture, which I mentioned before (should I send an MRI and X-rays as evidence for the gaslighting assistant?) read more

I had gotten my first crown a few years back at Dr. Tibbitts office and that first experience was less than ideal. I had two appointments; the first was to shave my tooth and give me a temporary crown, the second was for the permanent crown. On the day of my permanent crown placement, I was in that office for nearly 3.5 hours. The initial crown wasn't fitted well, so when it was cemented to my tooth my bite was extremely off. This led to the doctor having to remove the newly-cemented crown to refit it. I can't recall how many re-ups of numbing injections I had to get, but I was there for so long it wore off twice. After the crown had been fitted correctly (or so I thought), I was sent on my way. Late 2020 I saw a new dentist. Upon reviewing my x-rays he informed me that my crown was fitted incorrectly and had quite a bit of overhang on one side. Additionally, there was a cavity growing underneath the overhang of the crown. My new dentist recommended I present Dr. Tibbitts' office with my x-rays and ask them to redo it at no-charge since insurance only covers crowns once every few years. After a bit of back and forth with the front desk at Dr. Tibbitts office, they agreed to a no-charge replacement. That second appointment at Dr. Tibbitts' office in early 2021 was better than the first, but I was still charged a lab fee for the crown itself which was mildly irritating. I chalked it up to just being business and went on my way. A couple weeks later, I received a notice from my insurance company that a dental claim had been denied, and it had been from Dr. Tibbitts office attempting to receive payment for my replacement visit. Again, mildly annoying since they only had to replace the crown because they did it incorrectly the first time. I wasn't personally charged anything further so I simply supposed I couldn't expect anything less from an American Healthcare business. Moving on to 2024, I recently had another full set of x-rays done. Would you believe that this replacement crown was also fitted improperly and now hangs over on the other side? During this revelation, I was a volunteer patient for a university's dental program, so I took the new x-rays to my primary dentist for a second opinion. Lo and behold, it was confirmed the second crown was placed incorrectly. Fast forward to today, July 4th of all days, my crown has completely come off the tooth. Is this incident directly correlated to the incorrect placement of the crown? I can't say. What I can say is that I would be far less angered by a happenstance crown popping off if I didn't have proof that it had previously been done incorrectly, twice, by the same dental practice. Despite the relevance of the crown popping off, the aforementioned experience is enough for me to want to share so review-readers can make an informed decision prior to having a crown done at this practice. read more

Pros: Clean office. Cons: 1. Care that my husband received was not good. Ended up with mouth sensitivity and other issues. Also hygienic wise some issues that came up were not good during the appointments how they used the tools n etc 2. Office front desk - they scheduled an appointment without my husband's knowledge and I had to call to cancel. I spoke to triwest and told me they did not authorize this appointment and the receptionist kept arguing with me that they weren't the ones when clearly that's not how community care works . The receptionist was extremely rude and hung up on me and I had to let triwest know this appt was scheduled without my husband's knowledge and to make sure we do not get billed for this. We had an after hours dental emergency with a knocked out front tooth - Dr. Jason Braithwaite came through clutch! It was 11p and Dr. Braithwaite communicated options to save the tooth and he met us at the office within 30 minutes ready to save a smile. Dr was very skilled, knowledgeable & patient! The office followed up the next morning and had us come in next day for Dr to complete the root canal and fix chipped teeth. Excellent outcome and an extremely happy "smiling" patient. The dentist! Who in their right mind likes to go to the dentist?? This place is Great! All of the staff members that I met were nothing short of AMAZING! Not only were they professional and curious, but they understood the pain I was in and was able to get me in on the same day to address the nagging wisdom tooth that needed to be extracted. Extraction, which they do as well, that's a plus!!! I really didn't expect to be seen today as I am not a patient of theirs, but they squeezed me in for X-rays and a cleaning at a very affordable price. I really needed to find an actual dentist who I felt I can trust not to push me on other procedures that I need. instead, they explained to me what was important to address today and to not worry about other services that my teeth will need on a future date. I have no dental insurance and was expecting to pay an arm and a leg today. I was pretty sure a root canal was in order. Thankfully it was the wisdom tooth that I really don't need. I especially liked how the Dr. was very personable and showed interest in my new life, here in California. He also shared some of his background with me. I have been impressed with this dental office for many reasons. The office staff is very professional, efficient, and compassionate (yes, I have had a few emergencies, and they were very understanding). Scheduling appointments is easy. DO NOT COME HERE.. Not only did they NOT cover my gums completely with the blue gel to protect my gums, they forgot about me TWICE.. There are two 15 minute sessions with the bleach on. The first time she left it on for an extra 5 mins. I didn't really mind the extra 5 minutes. But then she left me sitting there for over 30 minutes the second session! Thats over TWICE as much as it should have been on my teeth. I was in pain still from the first session because she didn't completely cover my gums and instead of rinsing my gums off she simply whipped it and put on more of the protectant over the area. Even when I told her it was still burning all she had to say was " well its not on your gums anymore" I had to get up and find someone to go get her to take the bleach off. She didn't show me my teeth and tried to get me out of there very fast which I thought was strange and so when I checked my teeth, a large portion of my gums were completely white. My teeth themselves had terrible sensitivity and shooting pains with the slightest change in temperature. I couldn't eat or drink anything. My gums had been so severely burned from the bleach the flesh started to deteriorate and come off and bleed any time my tooth brush lightly touched them and even if i touched them with my tongue. I left there in tears and they have not reached out to me or offered my money back or anything for that matter. I made it clear I was in pain and extremely upset. I agreed for Flouride treatment which was not done but insurance was charged for. had to remind them of 3 other items that could/should be done, again why? Seems they just wanted the fast easy buck. I've had a fear of the dentist for many years due to several bad experiences. Unfortunately, I had an infected tooth under a bridge due to bad work in the past. Today, Dr. Tibbitts was able to remove the bridge, do the root canal and relieve the massive pain I had. It was the most professional experience I've had at any dentist office and he saved me thousands by keeping the bridge in tact. This is not the usual, however his honesty, integrity, and skill were amazing. Five stars for this experience after several nightmares at other dentist offices. I didn't think the scammer reviews below were real. I didn't think it would happen to me. To cut it short, I got financial assistance with Sunbit for 1500 and from my understanding, they were going to charge Sunbit whatever my insurance didn't pay. Come to find out I've now got a 1,500$ loan I need to pay off now. Not only that but they billed my insurance 1,100$, my insurance paid $688 leaving me a remaining balance of 388$ to pay out of pocket. So I call and Julie tells me my total bill was 1,800$. Keep in mind I made an on-site payment of 225$ the day of my wisdom tooth removal. What won me over is the front desk lady told me they had a special for 1st time patients including exam and X-ray for 149$. Come to find out I took some sort of special x ray that is 300$ +. They didn't tell me that but of course they hit me with "I signed that I did". I fell for hidden fees. Please read anything they give you as what they say in person is not what it says on paper. I'm just confused how my total bill was 1800 but they bill my insurance 1100 and charge this loan of 1500 I'm now stuck in. The hygienist was very thorough and professional. The issue I had was the dentist who examined me stated I needed to replace three fillings with crowns, and that one tooth had to be taken care of right away. He did not tell me the risks for the procedure or that I could choose not to have it done. I made an appt. with another dentist for a second opinion. Scheduled an appointment for a month out. Received a call 1 week before appointment to confirm appointment and get a $75 deposit to make sure I showed up for my appointment. NEVER HEARD OF THIS RIDICULOUS POLICY. Their obvious take on this is EVERYBODY is a thief so get a credit card. Such a great experience! Robin, the girl at the front counter is super friendly and made my appointment next day! I went in for a cleaning as a new patient based off great google reviews and ended up having two fillings done same day, set up great financing, and they were so helpful in sorting out a mess of paperwork and plans. The girls in the office are all super sweet and Dr. Tibbitts did a great job, the filling was quick and painless! I go back next week for a crown and am surprisingly not dreading it - even though I'm the least pro-dentist person around. Overall, great experience and definitely sticking with this dentist for a while! :oD 2013 EDIT: They are super expensive, I had to pay $34 for just a quick cleaning (20% not covered by insurance), no x-rays! The financing that I had to pay was still $500 and that was for the fillings and crown. My filling isn't shaped like any of my other fillings or natural teeth, it's smoothed over and doesn't feel as effective for chewing. They always sent statements to my dad's address after I talked to them multiple times to change the address to mine. I also got my crown done, only to be miserably sensitive and have to get a root canal two weeks later. I've never had one before so I don't have anything to compare it to but it was a pretty miserable experience. The crown on top of the root canal is a smooth inverted dome and I'm extremely unhappy about it. It has gaps on both sides that trap a lot of food (gross) and my bite is misaligned. The staff is sweet and Dr. Tibbitts is charming but I'm changing dentists... 3 Stars. 2014 UPDATE: Alright. I went to another dentist who royally messed up a filling that led to me going back to Dr. Tibbitts for an emergency root canal. Not only did he do an amazing job but they replaced the crown that I was unhappy with for free because it had only been a year. Still expensive, but after the nightmare of the other dentist, it's absolutely worth it. Very happy ever since returning! read more
