Best Mexican food I've had a in a long time. The service is amazing, the food came out fast and tasted amazing. We will definitely be back.

This place was by far ridiculous starting from the first drink the bartender made (Michelle) as she was also our waitress where I had to get her to bring us water, mixed drinks and even food- I had to remind her of the food we ordered which sat in the window for 35+ mins. She not only spilled water on my partner then blamed her for her mistake and over reach. The drinks were terrible as I had ordered a Mojito and she had blended it, and then added tequila not Bacardi. She couldn't even come to our table, because she was so drunk and just sloppy! I wouldn't even give this place a star but sees I want to leave a review I have to give at least one. Our party of 4 will never come back as they couldn't do anything right- Stop drinking at work so you can actually do your job. read more

We have been eating at Murrieta's for over a year and our most recent visit was the best. This is a wonderful restaurant with excellent service. They also have happy hour, a very nice bar, and plenty of seating space with booths and tables well spaced. The chips are fresh and hot and the pico de gallo and roasted salsas are excellent and served as soon as you sit down. They have an extensive menu including wonderful tamales, fajitas, burritos, and much more. You should take your friends and family here. Also, the margaritas are sensational. I decided to try Murrietta's, because I heard from a few friends that it was their favorite mexican restaurant. It definitely isn't mine. I went for lunch, and the salsa and pico that came with the chips was fresh and hot and great. It took a while for the main dish to come out, they got very busy. The rice was dried out and the beans were too salty. My mother always says you can judge a lot by a mexican's restaurant's rice and beans. The rice isn't traditional at all and the beans left much to be desired. My tacos were average and I just wasn't very impressed. I've definitely experienced better. I may go back and give it a second chance. read more

Just OK... In fact I've had much better, but we needed a place to eat with the kids. The Tacos were really greasy, that left me racing for the restroom once we got home. The Enchiladas were decent, but the taco ruined it for me by the time I got that far. The margaritas were pretty good... stick to Margi's, and move on from there! read more

Came in for lunch solo. Sat at the bar. At least 4 employees standing around and no one gave me service. After maybe three minutes I had to ask someone if they have a bartender. They looked puzzled, gave me a strange response and finally took my drink order. Server would dissapear for 20 minutes at a time. Took my credit card and dissapeared. I had to wait by the door with my jacket on. Was I in the Twilight Zone? Food is typical american mexican food. Lunch 'specials' are nine dollars and up.Prepare to be underwelmed. Great Mexican food. I especially like their ceviches and braised birria. Warm chips and two types of salsa made our beers go down so much faster. Sure, it's a bit bothersome picking out the bones in the birria, but that never makes the taste experience any less wonderful. Service has never been an issue; wait persons even seemed to be readily available for pitcher taking - of us, I mean. In my lowly Mexican food estimation, I daresay that Murrieta's stands tall. This place has an amazing happy hour, 1$ tacos, and buy one get one drinks from 2 to 6. Most of the employees are great with a few exceptions, but if you can avoid the few exceptions this place can be great. I go to this place at least once a week....I love Martha...if you are lucky enough to get her as your server or bartender than you will have a great experience. oh the "manager" often will overcharge you so make sure you aren't being taken advantage of. read more

Tried out lunch at the new Murrieta's on South Virginia, where GG's use to be. It is in the Pink Scolaries Shopping Center, across from In-N-Out Burger. We were seated quickly and water and chips were brought (these chips are a little thicker than most Mexican restaurants) as well as a bowl of salsa and Pico de Gallo. I ordered the Los Amigos Lunch special, which included a shredded beef taco and a chicken enchilada, accompanied by a warm coleslaw, beans and rice. The enchilada was well seasoned and contained just the right amount of cheese and sauce. The taco had been warmed/toasted on the grill before serving, and was left on the grill just a little too long. Service was good, and the place was really clean. I think I will try it again for dinner and bring the family. read more

I can't believe what most people give this restaurant. It is not a three star under joint. Maybe it went downhill for bit when I wasn't going, but I went there quite a bit a year ago and it was great and then just the other day and it was great. Seriously, this place has the best Mexican I've had in town. But maybe I've just been lucky the last twenty times. Good bar service, good waiters, and great food. By the way it isn't like I'm unfamiliar with fine dinning. Good Mexican food for the south Reno area. This place is clean and has a large menu. I found that the wait staff and servers all worked really hard and provided great service. I got the carne asada and the food was exceptional. I liked how they grilled their veggies. I found that the chips were fresh and everything was delicious. Best Mexican food I've had in Reno. I had the crab enchiladas with mushroom sauce and husband had the Carnitas with garlic shrimp. Both were delicious. Hate to admit, but we got our kid the chicken nuggets with a fruit side on the kids' menu. He's a weirdo and doesn't like tortillas. His loss, but he chowed down on the nuggets and the fruit portion was huge! Our service was quick and attentive. Our waters were promptly refilled and drink orders quickly supplied. Normally I won't go to a locally owned Mexican (Hispanic) restaurant because of health concerns, they usually get low scores from the health dept. But to show my wifeski how open minded I am, I went to Murriettas for lunch. I had some combo plate with a taco and enchilada, rice & beans. It was pretty much like every other Mexican restaurant I've eaten in. Good, edible, but nothing to write home about. The restaurant seemed a little dirty and dingy, despite being in a nice building. I would be inclined to eat here again if I was in the neighborhood. read more

The pico de gallo and roasted salsas that come with fresh hot chips as soon as you sit down are very good. Pico is fresh with lots of cilantro. The chile rellenos are delicious. I prefer the black beans, but the refriend beans and rice are even done well at this joint! Also good tamales, fajitas, chile verde and carnitas. They have an extensive menu and everything I've tried has been fresh and flavorful. I would definitely take guests here, but I also frequent this place with my family. The house margaritas on the rocks are strong! Expect a LARGE pitcher. Very friendly staff. If you want privacy or an extra quiet experience, simply ask to be seated farther away from the bar. Murrieta's sets the standard for their beans. They really have a remarkable taste. Also the two salsas they serve gives you a choice between fresh-mild and spicy (but not hot). I mix them together and it is really perfect for me. I had the taco/enchilada combo (#2) with a cheese enchilada and shredded beef taco. My husband had the chicken chimichanga. We both really enjoyed the meal. Banana margarita and Murrieta margarita both powerful and quite tasty. $8.50 & $10, respectively. Quite reasonable for the amount. At a time when cocktail prices are rising to the $12 & $15 dollar mark, it is nice to still see reasonable pricing. Food pricing still under $15 a plate; many still at $11. Quite a deal for a well cleaned & decorated restaurant with great service. I highly recommend. read more

This Murrieta's is not so good in comparison to the one in Sparks. The salsa is a no go, the service is very very slow, the food even slower (and my tacos were cold, probably sitting in the window waiting for my husbands nachos to melt). We even went before rush hour, 4:30pm, and overall just disappointed. If you want delicious tacos and margaritas, with much better service, Sparks Murrieta's is worth the drive. read more

Disgusting, but they didn't care. Wife and I had lunch there on Sunday. Place was about 1/2 full and it looked like plenty of staff. I ordered chili relleno and wife ordered the same with a cheese enchilada. Both of the chili's were crunchy raw with the coating missing on most of their surface. Her enchilada had cold cheese chunks in the middle. I mentioned the poor food to the waitress and she said she'd ask the kitchen. Off she went and when she returned, she walked right past us without a word. I am particularly disappointed because this place has had the best chili relleno in town and I've been getting them here for many years. The combination of bad food, and an apathetic staff will have me looking for another place to get my Mexican fix. read more

We went for dinner on Friday, 10/15. In summary - a solid, traditional mexican food restaurant. There was a little wait for our table, but with plenty of chairs and space at the bar, the 30 minutes went by fast. Once we were seated, service was prompt, yet not overbearing. Our water glasses stayed filled the entire evening (and I was drinking plenty of water). Chips and salsa were plentiful and I LOVED the fact they serve fresh pico de gallo along with their spicy red salsa - which had a great smoky roasted pepper flavor with just enough kick. For apps we ordered the chicken quesadilla - it was large enough to be a complete dinner! A burrito sized flour tortilla folded over grilled chicken (that was pleasantly seasoned) and cheese, served with sides of salsa, sour cream and guacamole. For dinner I ordered the Baja fish tacos - strips of cod coated in a beer batter, served with "mexican cole slaw" (a tangy cabbage, onion and tomato and lime salad) and hot sauce, served on corn tortillas with sides of black beans and Spanish Rice - this dish was the hit of the table. 3 large tacos for $11.99. Fish wasn't greasy or over-cooked and everything else was fresh and flavorful. Hubby ordered Chicken Fajitas - a large plate of sizzling onions and bell peppers topped with sliced chicken breast. The chicken itself was wonderful - great seasoning and smoky flavor. The veggies were a little over cooked - soggy - but not bad in flavor. Also served with sides of corn or flour tortillas, sour cream, guac and pico de gallo. Total bill for the evening was just under $40 - good food, easy prices make this place a solid choice for Mexican Food and we will be going back again soon. read more

I've been here several times for the lunch special, which comes to the table fast, but you get what you pay for. Cheap food at a cheap price. I decided to give a full service a try and three of us went to dinner there last night. While we did not get sick, I can say - with sincere honesty - I took my food home so I could pick through it and figure out what was wrong with my Chicken Mole Enchiladas. I won't share, but I will tell you that was NOT mole sauce and there was ingredient that should not have been there. The chicken was terribly dry, likely because there was no sauce over the top or anywhere on the plate; beans were hard, rice was brittle dry. The chips and salsa were delicious. One of the three meals was delicious. The one and only drink ordered at our table was not the right drink at all. We had to call back the server, who picked the drink up and immediately brought it to the table next to us without any shame or even asking if we had tried the drink...it was off-color so my friend had not tried the drink, but seriously, the server could have asked before spreading the saliva love...our water glasses ran dry twice during the long wait...stick with the cheap lunch and watch out for that "if it's not right, just give it to another table" model of service. read more

We really enjoy going to Muriettas for Mexican food! Good customer service, they are always attentive and quick. Some nights they are quite busy, but usually no wait if you go early or go for lunch. We recommend the enchiladas, chille rellenos, tamales, taco salads, and chimichangas. read more

I went here with some co-workers the other day for lunch and I have to say I was pretty impressed. We were seated and served very quickly. I ordered the chiptole hot wings and the staff notified me it might take a little longer for that item, even then the food was brought out very quickly. Disgusting. Our pico de gallo was served with a big black hair. I pointed this to the server and asked to see a manager. Entrees served and a chimmy has a hair sticking out of the cheese. Asked again for a manager because now we've eaten part of this "food." Manager says the "salsa is complementary" takes the one meal off our tab buts charges for the rest though uneaten. Once, I get because stuff happens; twice in the same meal means there is a problem. Management did't think so with the "salsa is complementary" comment. No way I'm ever going back. read more

Murrietas is your place if you're looking for good happy hour deals! I've been here a handful of times and had both good and so-so experiences here. One time they gave us a beeper and told us it would beep when it was our turn. After waiting an hour we asked why it was taking so long, and they said they called our names awhile ago. Not sure why they gave us a beeper if they weren't planning on using it, and we're just going to call our name. The hostess was a little rude at the time, but we moved on and ordered. Food was pretty good, I believe I ordered a bean and cheese burrito. My family and I love coming here for happy hour though! The buy one get one free margaritas is a deal that can't be beat, especially because they aren't liberal with the tequila! They also serve dollar tacos during happy hour which aren't incredibly flavorful, but they get the job done for a dollar a taco! read more

Walked in on Friday night at 9:45pm because In N Out Burger was soooo busy! Sat at the bar and after a couple of mins asked Michelle who was more concerned with counting her bank what was good here. She said" everything is F...... good". I was shocked and almost walked out. She shouldn't be in customer service - she doesn't appreciate the customer and has a poor attitude to say the least. Actually the food was pretty good, even after I asked Michelle what was good she couldn't recommend anything so I picked the chicken enchiladas. To be honest Michelle's attitude kind of spoiled the taste so won't come back. read more

So we have been on a search here for Mexican food ever since moving to Reno. Maybe our expectations are too high or maybe we have been spoiled by Mexican places in Vegas because we have struck out at every place we have been. Last night we tried Murrieta's Restaurant. The place is nice looking and all the wait staff were very friendly. Our waiter was nice but a little absent minded. We ordered a Strawberry Margarita for My Wife and a Murrieta Margarita for me. Both were good. Nice flavors and mine wasn't too strong. For appetizers we ordered Bean Dip, Shredded Beef Taquitos, and a Anaheim Chile Popper. Bean Dip was good but definitely needed salt, I enjoyed the Taquitos and My Wife really liked the Popper. My only problem was the popper needed to be cut up which seemed kind of weird to me but nothing too bad. For dinner My Wife ordered Steak Fajitas, My Daughter ordered the California Burrito with Steak and I ordered the Seafood Enchiladas. Gummybear enjoyed her Burrito but I didn't try it because honestly it didn't look interesting to me. My Wife'sSteak Fajitas were good but definitely needed some type of seasoning. My Seafood Enchiladas were listed on the menu as having Shrimp, Crab and Lobster. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. The majority of the filling was Krab. I have no problem with Krab in Sushi but when you cook Krab it has a weird taste to me. Also I feel like listing an item as one thing on a menu and then you find out it's another is annoying. There was some chopped up shrimp but not that much honestly. It was kind of disappointing and I feel like I should have went with the Shrimp Chile Rellano that was recommended to me by Friend. I'm a fan of Spanish Rice and was again disappointed. It was very over cooked and very dry. It wasn't a horrible meal or even a bad meal, it was decent. I think the next time we go back we will definitely try other items. We will still search for a Mexican Restaurant here in town. read more
