I had Muscle for hire movers out on 3/24/26. Just to cut to the chase very unprofessional. The workers upon arrival at 10:30 Am asked me for snacks immediately. Although, I didnt mind it was crazy. They stole money and irreplaceable items from us and at the ninth hour WE had to rent another Uhaul because they didnt bring a big enough Uhaul tp do the job. Make sure to specify the time. They showed up 7 hours late despite clear communication and confirmation of the hour.. Flat out lied and confirmed the time, wanted my day while I ended up doing most of their job packing and prepping for the move. They showed up at 5 pm. At 9pm ran out of time. They wrapped and asked for additional hourly fee to come back for the rest of my home. I had to arrange with others to complete the move. Moving is very stressful, so you need a reliable company. Muscle for Movers ghosted me on the day of my move and I was left scrambling looking to hire someone else. Deonte was kind on setting up the appointment but communication is horrible. I reached out day of asking if the time we set was still appropriate and he moved the time back. Then I never heard from him again. I called no answer, no response or call back. I'm a lil hurt behind this one. Mostly because I was trying to support Black Owned Business and being ghosted on the day of your move just feeds into the unreliable and poor business stereotype about black businesses. I am also exhausted and now don't know who to trust moving wise. Please, look and book elsewhere. read more

One thing I will never understand is a dishonest person. After the owner Deonte advised me to switch out the u-haul truck for a larger one before he and Kevin started loading to ensure I get all of my items, and he gave my daughter and I a ride from the prior u-haul spot to the new one. Yes, I was charged the $165 for that hour and I totally got that because at the end of the day it's their time and the clock had started. After what I would consider a success load of the u-haul. Then after paying for the 6 hours of loading service for two movers at a rate of $165 per hour, plus tax and a $100 tip. I wouldn't think switching out two of my new ratchet straps for two old/used would be necessary with a value of $10 at your local Home Depot. Once I arrived at the new location and the movers were unloading the truck I noticed a difference in the straps used in the middle and back of the truck. I then recalled a time when Deonte was walking to/from the back of his truck with the straps in his hand, and I thought "I know he isn't switching out my straps, but I'm guessing since he saw me coming out the front door he didn't have the opportunity to complete the switch for this one in hand. I called Deonte on Monday and asked if he knew why the straps were switched out for old ones. He responded that he didn't do it and wasn't aware as to why this was done then basically put it on Kevin saying he would have to ask him. I repeated back to him, you didn't do it and don't know why this was done, and he responded no I didn't do it and I don't know. I asked him if he could please find out and share this information with me. He responded yes. Today is Thursday and I still haven't heard from Deonte. As a former Revenue Agent for the IRS, an Accountant of 20 plus years, and a real estate business owner I don't understand why a business would steal anything from a client that has hired them for their services. At the price of $10 before tax for straps Muscles For Hire Movers should be offering these straps as a free add on for the service provided and writing them off as a business expense. If a business owner can be dishonest about some straps for $10 then what else is the business and those representing it willing to steal and/or be dishonest about??!! So for the dishonesty portion of my loading experience I'm changing my rate from a 5 star to a 3 star. Hopefully the guys enjoyed the beverages and brownies provided to them upon completion of the move. :-) read more

The guys worked fast and were friendly. However, the owner was slow and unfriendly, unlike on the phone when he wanted the money. They started out wrapping everything and being careful but the owner decided he didn't want to wrap anything else and so the movers followed him. It seemed like the movers and owner weren't working together. Beforehand I recommended a larger truck but the owner assured me everything would fit. It did not and because of this toward the end my items started getting crammed and scratched up in the back of the truck. The things that did not fit, now I have to go back with a friend's truck to pick up. Very disappointed and will not use this company again. read more

DO NOT USE!! My lease was up at the house I was living in and had to move my large items to storage. Unfortunately my storage unit had an issue and had to grab my items 2 days after the movers moved them into the unit. While getting my items out of my unit I noticed scratches, holes in items, and broken items from the movers. I sent the photos to Deonte and he responded that there is nothing they can do because the furniture has been moved by us but he will use the pictures as a learning moment. I mentioned how it wasn't from us taking the items out of storage it was from the poor job from the movers of wrapping and moving our items. No response from him after that. Very very unprofessional and so disappointed that 2 bedroom sets are broken and all my other items are scratched and ruined. EDIT: After the response from Deonte, I am still so disappointed. 1. Moving pads were not used (I have attached a photo so you can see for yourself about the bed frame you mentioned. 2. Just because I go back to move my things 2 days later doesn't mean YOUR COMPANY didn't damage my stuff. 3. Your movers showed up in a U-Haul and were basically shoving all of our stuff in the truck because you guys didn't bring a big enough truck for all of our stuff to fit in after I mentioned all that we have. 4. Your men were b****ing and complaining about having to move my stuff in front of me and I still bought them lunch and tipped them well (before realizing how poorly my things were treated). And yes, everyone complains about their jobs now and again but definitely SHOULD NOT be done in front of customers. Never in my life have I been treated this poorly by a company who won't take responsibility for his mistakes and tried to blame it on his customers. I would never damage something myself and blame it on someone else because I take responsibility. This is your damage that was caused by your men. read more

I put my trust in the company to load my containers aka pods properly and instead they messed up the job. By the end of the move they left a lot of empty space in the container and I had a lot more items I wanted to pack for the long distance move. Initial they seem very pleasant, but they act this way just to get the job. The manager is very polite and even his movers are at the start, but as time progressed they became increasingly passive aggressive. Throughout the initial process, prior to the appointment, repeatedly the manager would backtrack on his promises. He gave me one quote, then on a later date prior to the moving date he increased the amount per hour. He promised he'd be there to personally supervise his employees, but he never bothered to show up. Instead, he only sent his employees. These movers aren't keen to the fact that their customers are trusting them to move their personal affects and belongings; and that it's important it is to be sensitive of that. The movers spent the entire move making snide passive aggressive and condescending remarks whispered under the breath because they didn't like a question I asked them about some questionable practices. In addition, one guy stunk of cigarette smoke. And this is an issue if you are sensitive to cigarette smoke. It was impossible not to smell when you were around him. And they played their personal music aloud for the entire job for everyone to hear, instead of using headphones, which I also felt was inappropriate. The employees left before the job was even finished and only came back because they knew they wouldn't get paid if they didn't finish. The manager, who I had to call because he never showed up to the appointment, refused to address his employees mistakes and behavior. Instead he made excuses for them even lying to me about how well they packed the containers (I sent him a pic of the job they did). The manager also refused to reimburse us for a moving bag that was damaged during the move because of how roughly their employees were handling the bags. I genuinely was expecting a greater degree of professionalism and customer service, but they simply did not deliver. read more

Some people I spoke with were rude, wanted to rush me to make a decision, or just simply didn't hear anything I said I needed. Upon arrival, they introduced themselves - and prior to arrival confirmed all details - reconfirmed what was to be moved and made it happen. I felt very comfortable leaving my items in their care no matter the distance. Everything was wrapped perfectly to prevent scratches or damages during transport, and there even packed a bin onboard I was going to try to squeeze in my car. The entire move was seamless. The price for the services are reasonable & communication with the owner is clear when setting up an appointment. The assigned movers arrived on time and finished the job in a reasonable amount of time for there to only be two guys on the job. However, one of the movers on the job put a huge gash in my ceiling and cracked right through the drywall of the residence we were moving out of because no care was taken when moving large & tall bed posts from an upstairs bedroom (see photos). I didn't get an apology for the accident, I was met with confusion by the movers. Also, one of the movers carried our smoker grill from the back deck porch, through my kitchen, through my living room, and out the front door to load it on the truck. That man dragged and dropped ashes all through my old house which left a horrid mess for me to clean up without any acknowledgement from the person who did it or an offer to assist with clean up (see photos). Carrying a grill through someone's house without assessing the situation makes no sense at all and you'd have to be blind to not see a thick trail of ashes on the floors & carpets, but it was ignored by the movers. I paid full price, still gave each mover a tip, informed the owner of the company about the damage via phone the same day. I also sent photos of the gash in my ceiling to the owner via text with no response. The owner took my payment and never followed up to offer any resolution or compensation for the carelessness of the movers sent to my home on 11/4/2023. Kevin worked efficiently. His moving partner Willie is a nice gentleman but needs to take more care during the moving process of other folks valuables and dwellings. The lack of follow up and lack of ownership of the damages reflects poor business acumen and lack of accountability for the company's employees. read more

They even made sure my cat's dander was clear from the underside of my couch before moving it to the new location, superb service! Movers for hire moved my one-bedroom apartment over 20 miles. It was agreed that we would have a flat price if possible. They also moved me out within one hour! The move was estimated" to me. The apartment that I had moved to appeared to be a first-floor apartment until I got to the unit. And found out it is actually on the third floor of the building because of the way the building is constructed. The movers had to move me from one building through a set of doors to another building over a city block long to reach my apartment! Which is actually at ground level from my door! Needless to say, the move was much more than I thought it would be or could have anticipated it would possibly be. The movers moved without question without complaint and moved me in a timely fashion. The price quoted, and the movers kept, but I felt the job was worth much more than what was originally quoted.
