Why no 5 stars?!?! This area, late night drunks and crackers. And PIZZA COMPETITION like at 3am, I YELP! for what food I can possibly run out of the hotel and drive 5-10 mins to pick up, and it's showing nothing but a long row of pizzerias. "Damn!!!" I shout inside my disappointed head. The usual pizza only, (or convenience store styrofoam cup trash ramen.) Last thing I need is a gut full of greasy colon clogger food this late while I'm traveling and oh.. here in town for gastrointestinal care. So I see there's a dinner. One NOT pizza option. I go get a slice of peach pie with a micro side of ice cream, for $20, pick up. Inhaled it in the car. Wasn't enough. So I decide to maybe just get one slice of pizza at the other option. But WHICH ONE?! Out of 100 joints to choose from maybe? Obviously NOT Pizza Hut, for I am a foodie SNOB. My eye kept wandering to this spot, I don't know what drew me to it repeatedly with only scanning the surface. I click on it. Hmmm looks like it'll work, it's got slices. WINNER! Halloween weekend was probably one of the more chaotic times to visit Mustafio's Pizza, but I enjoyed it! The pizza shop was busy, but luckily there was no wait to order. The owner kept rushing us though, which led to an unnecessarily stressful ordering experience. It was also unclear whether or not they accepted credit cards, because he kept shouting "cash is better!". We placed our order, grabbed a high-top table, and our slices came out almost immediately. I really loved my Chicken Pesto slice - great flavors, generous amounts of chicken! It was also very filling and ended up being the perfect lunch/snack for an afternoon of bar hopping. This was the worst food delivery I have had in a VERY long time. They are on UberEats, Doordash, Seamless, Grubhub and Postmates under the name "THE FARMERS SALAD" but it is the same restaurant, same address, and same pizza boxes as this place, so they are operating under a different name on the food apps. Salad: The salad was described as "Fresh romaine lettuce with your choice of toppings" and I added cucumber, chicken, spinach, carrots. See the attached picture of what it looked like. Barely any toppings. The chicken was rubbery and it looked like that pre-cooked chicken that had been sitting in a refrigerator for days or the kind you buy frozen and just let thaw. Not worth the extra $5 for the chicken. My salad was also warm so I wondered how long it sat out for. The Meatballs: They sent me meatballs for delivery in TIN FOIL. I have never seen a restaurant deliver meatballs like this. Why would they not put them in a safe container with a lid? They just put meatballs in tin foil, and used the tinfoil as a bowl and poured sauce and cheese on top and wrapped it up. The cheese and sauce stuck to the tinfoil when I opened it and I couldn't even eat it. Pieces of tin foil were also stick in my food, rendering this unable to eat. The meatballs thus arrived cold and I wondered how long they sat out for too. My house is not that far from the restaurant so my food should have been at a proper temperature. I called the restaurant and they said this was all normal (yes, including the tin foil. I had thought they ran out of take out dishes). The staff told me they do not use to-go containers for the meatball dishes. Poor quality, unappealing presentation, and terrible packaging. Dear restaurant owner, please invest some money in some to-go containers. read more

Walking by, it's hard not to stare at the pizza in the window and honestly it's what drew me into this place. It was a busy night on Polk st. and the pizzas were looking hot n fresh. However, I decided against it at the time but made my way back a couple days later and what I learned is that when coming here, I think time makes a difference. The first time I came here was on a random weekday night (sober) looking for a quick bite, and the pizza tasted as if it had been sitting there for a while. I decided to give the pepperoni a shot and they reheated the slice and I ate it there. The dough was overly crispy and the cheese and sauce lacked flavor. It's a pretty big slice for under $5, so if you are looking to get full, one of these would do the trick. The next visit, I was out with some friends at the bars, and this was the closest slice so I gave em the ol college try again. This time I went with the chicken pesto and plain cheese. Chicken pesto was definitely my favorite of the two. The trick that made it better for me was not asking them to reheat it and I did it myself at home. If you wanna know the trick to reheating pizza correctly, it's through the air-fryer, which is basically a convection oven. This made the pizza taste way better and wasn't dried out like the first time. I think the best time to come is after the bars, when the lines are long and they are pumping out pizzas constantly. It's not my favorite pizza, but after a night out, it serves its purpose. If you can get it hot n fresh, go for it. If you have to reheat it, take it home and use that air-fryer, you'll thank me later. read more

Very disappointing! I really expected a restaurant on such a busy street to be so much better! I came in and was super friendly to the man at the door, Zeke, who I later learned was the owner. I politely ordered then asked about the restroom. Once in the restroom there was not a shred of toilet paper nor paper towels. Once I left the horrible situation I let zeke know that there was nothing to utilize in the restroom and he said yes we do not keep any type of toilet paper or paper towel in there because the homeless steal. And I said I definitely understand that but as a paying customer I would've appreciated a notice or you could only reserve the toilet paper for those who are genuinely customers at your restaurant. The owner did not care and proceeded to say that even customers steal from him so there is no point. It was pretty sad as I try to support small businesses as much as possible but it's clear this city has tainted this owners perspective on humanity. I will not be returning! If you're drunk, or high, or both this pizza might be seem absolutely delicious. Probably the best pizza you've ever had in your life, and it'll help prevent a hangover, or at least lessen the pain...5 Stars. If you're sober, I'm pretty sure this is just really average pizza. Went in there late last weekend. Should have known better after the couple before me walked in and walked right back out. I order a slice and guy behind counter tells me he will include a second slice for free since he is closing. He then proceeds to charge me $10. I tell him I thought you were going to give me the second slice for free and I don't even want a second slice. He says sorry and removes the second slice from the box and says it will just be $6. He then goes ahead and rings me up for $7.28 Beyond that the place was dirty. The guy making the pizza and trying to cheat me also didn't look too clean himself. Come to find out this place has a fake Uber eats shop called "olivias sandwich's" where they have made it look as if it's a completely separate location and they're charging almost double for the same things on their menu. They are open late. Since there are so many pizza places in San Francisco, it is hard to give it more than 3 stars. Overview: Very greasy - yet flavorful - pepperoni pizza by the slice. A box will cost an extra .35 and well worth it to absorb all the grease. When I first opened my pizza box and saw all the grease absorbed into the cardboard I had a knee jerk reaction -- and the reaction wasn't a positive one. Ambiance: Cool vibe inside. Great seating. Friendly workers create a warm and welcoming space. My advice to you: Order plain cheese. I have suspicion the grease was mostly from pepperoni.... Right as you get it place a few napkins on top and bottom - a real pizza eating sin according to my Italian friend... something I've never done before because of growing up with my Italian friend. About me: I was perfectly sober like a Mormon when eating this pizza. Also, I've had the best pizza in the city - Tonys, Mozzeria, Firetrail, & Golden Boy. I've easly become a pizza snob as a result. Also if anything is really good I become price insensitive. Conclusion: Perhaps if i was really drunk - lets face it... this place caters to the late night bar crowds.... I would have loved it. Will do my best to come back and re order and try a more plain pizza slice... and update this review... Came here via the Yelp Elite event and was quite happy to find a decent pizza place since I've moved out here! Came back afterwards to see how they did without the special Yelp event treatment and still was happy! Pizza slices range from $3.25 to $4.50. Before you jump the gun and be all "I can get a $1 slice pizza", this isn't your typical super thin triangle pizza. When I say these slices are big, I mean they are HUGE for the price you are paying. I could have easily been full with just one slice of cheese pizza, but I got two as part of the Yelp event. I base my pizza reviews mainly off of the simplest pizza - the cheese pizza - b/c there's no point in eating something with tons of condiments if you can't even get the most basic pizza down. I must say that I was pretty satisfied with it- crust was thick enough that you can pick it up without it flopping over (if it's not too hot out of the oven), and not too much cheese that you would enter a food coma. Thankfully not too much grease either- sometimes I find myself dabbing my slices with a napkin but this time I didn't really need to do it. I also had a slice of their Hawaiian pizza- I liked how the pineapple chunks were small/ plentiful enough that you didn't have to tear through a piece/ awkwardly drag it off the slice when you bit into it but there was enough to give it a sweetness to cut the saltiness from the bacon and ham. One thing to note- the pizza slices are thick so if you are a fork and knife person (like me), it might be a bit thick to cut. Luckily, the waitress offered to cut my slice into smaller parts, but otherwise I recommend just waiting for it to cool before using your hands (since as I said before, the slices don't get too soggy / become limp). If you are out on Polk, craving pizza, and want a bang-for-your-buck, I'd recommend Mustafio's! Added bonus- if you check in on Yelp, free garlic bread when you order a pie of pizza (need to check this out eventually). read more
