Door dashed 3 pizzas - Spicy Pep, pepperoni and sausage, mushroom
    Liann A.

We were staying at a hotel close to downtown and ordered in Square Pie guys off DoorDash on a Sunday evening. One location wasn't doing orders but we found another. We love their Detroit style pizza. It comes with big 4 slices but it can be cut to 8. We got the spicy pep, another that had pep and sausage, and a vegetarian one that had truffle and mushrooms. So good and so hearty! It fed a large group of people and we even had leftovers.

We stopped to eat ice cream next door & we wanted water after so we stopped here but walking in, the pizza smelled really good so the kids wanted pizza. The staff were top notch good. Super friendly & helpful. Service was fast & the pizza was really good. Well beyond our expectations. The cheese & crust were crisp & tasty! We only got a cheese pizza and it was REALLY delicious. We highly recommend it & will be back!

Loved the drink options here: Harney & Sons Lemonade and BrightLeaf Jasmine Green (sparkling).

This is going to be my go-to spot for eating before going to shows at the Orpheum and Golden Gate Theaters. I frequent these theaters at least six times a year, and it's hard to find food within a three block radius that isn't quite a sit down restaurant. (RIP to that Whole Foods that closed nearby.) We ordered amazing non-al drinks, which I loved, Detroit-style pizza (delicious), and got the fried Brussels (yassssss fried to crispy perfection). They didn't seem to mind to do a very basic sauce swap when ordering a whole pie. A pie would feed two adults pretty well. If I could re-situate the restaurant slightly closer to the theaters I would. Also, it can be an hour-long experience between cooking and eating (not for the quick bite before shows).

It has been a year since I was back in San Francisco for a conference and I'm telling you this has got to be the very best pizza in the San Francisco area ! Service is very straightforward you can walk in and they have a touchscreen and you could place your order or there is usually a staff member at the counter that will put the order in for you. For the most part, the inside is welcoming with plenty of seating and I'm talking about the location on Mission Street. Granite it's a little sketchy on the sidewalks but for the most part, it's pretty safe in my opinion, but you never know. I opted to get the pepperoni with extra cheese and let me just say the crust is done to perfection and the undercarriage of the pizza kind of reminds me of some old school mom and pop pizza. It's done with a slight crunch very airy on the inside and the toppings are just right and it is full of flavor. I do highly recommend without a dot getting a pizza from here.

I walked in on a Friday after seeing a client nearby, and I've been wanting to try this place. I ordered around 12:30 or so, and the place also had plenty of seating available. The area they're located in can be interesting, but don't let that discourage you from giving this place a shot. The person at the counter was friendly and offered some suggestions. I ended up choosing the Korean-inspired chicken pizza. After ordering to go, I had to go next door to pick it up. She told me upfront that it could take up to 20 minutes. I went next door, but they were busy since it looked like a bunch of food delivery drivers had just arrived. They acknowledged me when I walked in. I waited, and my order came out hot. I love the flavor of the pizza. I would recommend them to anyone.

I have been to square pie guys a number of times and downloaded their app to get specials and I am in their mailing list. So when I head they have 6 year Aniversary going on with snow discount specials for all their pizza flavors, you can count me in! I had to order the brand new LEMON PEPPER PIE which is a white sauce, crispy fried chicken, lemon pepper seasoning, topped with ranch + scallions - bright and zesty in all the right ways. And their THE HAWAIIAN with vodka sauce, pineapple, cupping pepperoni, provolone, topped with a grana padano oregano blend and green onions. I ordered early, so no rush of crazy door dash guys overflowing the pickup side of the restaurant. I have never ate inside this restaurant and didn't realize there was a sit down side of restaurant further in the next section. For this location I normally just go to pick up side and take the bus or train back home . Finally came to pick up and they were ready early as I showed them my order in the app. My stuff was all bagged and ready to go! Thank you! I am always worried about pizza with it use of tomato sauce as base. This is one of the rare times I am trying a pizza with no tomato sauce as I took my first bite of the Lemonade and wow! I love the flavor! I believe this is my new favorite flavor followed by the Hawaiian. yummy in my tummy! Yes I will come back again!

First off we always love eating at new pizza spots, and this spot was a hit for sure. First the ambience is cool, makes you feel like you're at some coastal town. The drinks are not your standard fountain drinks, they're from the Alameda Soda Co, a local producer, and actually tasted really good. The pizzas are square and deep dish, they have their own creations or you can choose your own toppings. The prices are reasonable, a specialty pizza will cost around $25, but it's honestly enough for two people. I ordered one for myself and could barely eat half. We had some garlic cheesy bread with marinara sauce, also very tasty. The worker at the counter was super friendly and guided us through the process, since we have never been here before. Food came out pretty fast, nice and hot. I always say to get a 5 star rating from me the first time, and it being pizza at that, goes to show you how great the food was. Definitely recommend.

This restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived on a Saturday evening. That meant more space for us. The place really is quite spacious with seating available on two levels. Also, there was no wait to order, with hardly any customers on site and a self-order kiosk at the front counter for convenience. Staff provided friendly service as well while we dined in. Our pizza was served to our table in about 25 minutes. The ellen supreme was made just right. Crispy crust with the frico edges, lots of melted cheese, savory italian meats, and thick chunks of mushroom. Yup, this was a good one. And the size was perfect for sharing, four thick square slices. My partner and I finished every last bite, and it was an absolutely satisfying meal.

Highly recommend this spot! The regular square pizza was delicious and impressively light, rather than weighing you down. On top of the great food, the service was excellent and the ambiance has a great game day vibe.

This place is literally such an unorganized mad house. I went to the restaurant and placed an order for takeout about 2 months ago. It was a weekday night. I ended up waiting over 1.5 hours...they kept telling me it was coming up or else I would've cancelled it and left. The guy managing orders, whom I assume was the manager or something, told me he would give me a refund on my order for the wait and took a picture of my receipt. I never got the refund. :) Decided to give it another try today thinking it would be different and that the last time might've been an off day for them. It was not. Ended up waiting again for about an hour. It's honestly unacceptable. Fyi, all of the takeout orders are managed next door to the actual storefront and it is PACKED TO THE BRIM over there with delivery drivers waiving their phones around yelling for their orders. It's genuinely a madhouse. You can't even ask for the status of your order with the amount of delivery drivers stacked at the front neck to neck. I don't understand how they haven't done something about this. They need to limit orders if they can't handle them in this quantity, or at the very least, prioritize in restaurant orders over delivery orders. Also the workers were working so hard it's really not their fault. ESP the young guy with short curly hair doing the wings. I felt so bad. They were overwhelmed.

If you enjoy Detroit style pizza then this is the place to try while in San Francisco. They have multiple locations. I ordered an Alameda Soda Co. Cream Soda to drink and a 1/2 Pepperoni pizza. I've never had this brand of soda and it was surprisingly delicious. The half pizza has 2 good size pieces which was perfect for me and it lived up to real Detroit pizza (I use to live in Detroit) like Dave Portnoy says, this type of pizza should be like a line backer, looks heavy but is light on its feet. Very good pizza.

Great pizza,.service, menu, and ambiance. Consistent dough, new flavors, and menu items. New collabs, philanthropy but same great service. New SF pizza stable.

Cool bar next door to the kitchen where you can have a slice
    Nic N.

Service was barely executed upon pick up, more like we recognize you're there and we will talk to you if we want to. The bar Nextdoor service was a little better. No N/A selection, just "craft sodas" it was good, but I was wanting an N.A. beer with my pizza No coffee The pizza is mid. If I'm being honest the dough had a bit of an odd smell to me second thought it might have been the cheese Regardless it wasn't that appetizing and I regretted eating but luckily didn't get sick As far as the actual execution of the pizza it was fine, mid to mid+ Won't likely return Received 3 stars instead of 1-2 because I liked the seating area on the bar side

Guy at that counter was friendly and worked efficiently. After we ordered, it took 10 minutes to get our slices and we ate immediately. The slices were above room temp (so I know it was reheated), but it nowhere near hot. The dough is very thick, but had a very soft chew and zero crunch. The garlic and clam was a great taste, but it's hard to enjoy what essentially felt like a slice of focaccia that was reheated for 15 seconds in a microwave. Again, I have to believe something was terribly wrong with our order, especially after looking at the reviews and seeing the Dave Portnoy review. Maybe it was placed in a cold oven? Maybe someone put a bunch of slices in the oven at different times and accidentally pulled out the newest addition to the oven and served it to us?? Is it all hype??!! Either way, our trip is too short make a second go to sort it out.

Unfortunately, there ended up being an issue with part of our order, but before we even had the chance to say anything, the team had already taken care of it for us. That honestly stood out to me more than anything. There was no awkward back and forth, no need for us to complain or ask for anything. They noticed something wasn't up to their standard and immediately made it right on their own. That level of customer service, especially on our first visit, was such a great surprise. And the pizza itself was SO good. We ended up having the pepperoni and what I believe was a vodka cheese slice, and absolutely loved both. Great pizza, even better people, and the kind of customer service that makes you want to come back. I unfortunately didn't catch everyone's names, but huge shoutout to the team working today. The pizza has charred edges like Neapolitan which adds a nice smokey flavor. The crust has zero flop and a nice golden crust on top. Sauce has a tough of sweetness. I also enjoyed their use of fresh basil and the grated Parmigiano-Reggiano they throw on at the end. It's kinda like a new york slice, but a little gourmet? Very tasty for sure. Critiques: First off, each slice is $6-7, which is a bit steep. Maybe times have changed, but this is def not a budget meal, especially if you are eating multiple slices. Second, some of their already crispy slices have been sitting on display for some time and completely cooled down. When these slices are then reheated, there is a bit of an overcooked taste? Lastly, they only have a few topping options and the quantity of toppings on each slice (especially protein) is pretty sparse. I also ordered a slice of the Sicilian as well to mix things up. It was good, but the crust was just a touch too greasy for me.

We ordered the Garden Pizza and the Chicken Garlic Pizza. The Garden Pizza had a light, fresh flavor, and I loved all the vegetables on it. Both pizzas were delicious with thin, wood-fired crusts that were perfectly crisp. For dessert, we shared the lava cake with ice cream, and it was so good! Definitely the perfect way to end the meal. We came on a weeknight around 6:00 p.m. They also do a lot of takeout, so it's clearly a neighborhood favorite. A fun little touch: water is served in repurposed wine bottles. Be sure to check out the secret menu and secret dessert menu displayed inside--you might find something extra to try. I actually picked That's Amore because I attended a Yelp Community event there earlier in the month and was really impressed. That was my first visit, and I knew I wanted to come back. I'm glad I did. Recommend!

When we arrived, our waitress didn't seem very knowledgeable about the beers, but honestly, that wasn't a big deal. My boyfriend ordered his pizza while I was still deciding what I wanted. His pizza came out very quickly, which we had no complaints about. The issue started when we had barely been seated for about 15 minutes. I went to the restroom, and while I was gone, the waitress approached my boyfriend while he literally had pizza in his mouth and a full beer in front of him and told him, "My chef said to charge you." He was confused but said okay because it made us wonder if they were closing. I checked the hours, and they weren't supposed to close until 10 PM--it was barely around 9 PM. I HADN'T EVEN ORDERED MY FOOD YET. I was still planning on ordering my own pizza, dessert, and a drink. Instead, we suddenly felt like we were being rushed to pay and leave. What made the situation even more unprofessional was that she left the payment device at our table for Apple Pay and then actually left the restaurant. She was the only server we had seen around, so we were basically left sitting there with the payment device and no server. We eventually had to get up ourselves to find someone so we could ask for boxes and return their payment device. No one had even asked whether we needed boxes, wanted anything else, or were finished ordering. My boyfriend didn't even finish his beer because at that point the entire vibe had changed and we just wanted to leave. We had driven an hour specifically to try this restaurant and were genuinely excited about it, which made the experience even more disappointing. I completely understand if a server's shift is ending, but there is a professional way to handle that--especially when customers are still actively eating and one person at the table hasn't even ordered yet. Someone could have simply explained that her shift was ending and introduced whoever would be taking over our table. Instead, we were made to feel like we needed to pay and leave. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the experience. We really wanted to like this place, but being treated this way after driving an hour to come here was extremely disappointing and unprofessional.
