Very tasty pizza!! I really enjoyed the clam and garlic pizza - def recommend! The ingredients tasted high quality The slices are pretty large - 2 slices had me full. The half pan comes w/ 4 slices! It's pretty affordable given the quantity of food. There's no seating and the line does get pretty long - we went during a festival day so we waited ~30-40 mins but were pretty happy w the pizza afterward! Staff were all very friendly. read more

Delicious pizza! This is a pick up/to go spot, and there is often times a line. Moves pretty quickly and the staff are very friendly, you do not feel rushed at all. I waited about 15 minutes in line, then another 10-15 for my small pepperoni pizza. The prices are good, not too bad at all. It's about $14.50 for a small pepperoni pizza which is 4 square slices, perfect to share between two. You can also just grab a slice, and I think that comes out pretty quickly. Location is on Green street, off of the main streets (Stockton and Columbus). Parking is tough around the immediate area. Only a 5 minute walk from Washington Square Park. I'll definitely be back for more pizza! read more

Quick, light, and yummy! It was my first time at Golden Boy Pizza and I was definitely not disappointed. I got the pesto pizza, and WOW! there was so much flavor packed into one slice. The crust was perfect, the pesto tasted fresh, and everything came together so well. It was also the perfect size because I left feeling satisfied without feeling overly full afterward. For the price, this slice was absolutely worth it. Definitely coming back again! read more

I came here to grab some lunch after meeting with a friend at Kiss of Matcha in North Beach. Since it was a Saturday afternoon, it was quite busy with a queue of people waiting to order and pick up. The line moved reasonably fast though. When it came time to order, I asked for a square each of combo and pesto veggie. After tapping to pay, the cashier gave me a paper receipt to sign and add an optional tip if desired. I thought this was a really inefficient use of time and effort and wish they just had an iPad like other businesses. Onto the goods...I really wanted to love this place, as another one of my friends had raved about their squares. However, I honestly thought the pizza was just okay. To be fair, I wasn't able to eat it fresh right after I got it. My parking meter was expiring, and unfortunately, I was parked in a zone with a strict 2-hour limit, so I had to move my car and wait until I got home to try the pizza squares. Still, I think they should've survived the car ride home without too much change in their quality. When I finally dug into the pizza, I found it soggy, perhaps from the grease, which was a bit of a letdown. I blamed it on the car ride home but also made note that I wasn't that impressed. read more

Pizza here is so bomb. I'm obsessed with their clam pizza. Their combo is delicious as well. It's a thicker dough but light and fluffy at the same time. The flavors explode with each bite. They sell by the slice so I don't have to commit to a whole pie. Obsessed. read more

5/5 taste, familiarity, cost. This is an old institution and always desired place. Sometimes the wait can deter me but it usually goes fast. The staff is usually not or never rude but not too memorable either but I would say they are kind. This is a to-go spot only so eat while walking, at the park, at home or in w car. read more

Popped in SF for a weekend and wanted to try the famous Golden Boy pizza. Ordered thru DoorDash and was surprised it held up well thru delivery. Ordered a cheese and pesto pizza. We were waiting for our reservation on Friday February 13th just a few feet away. We did what we realized many people were doing, which was wait in line to get a slice or two while we were waiting to go elsewhere.. We had a 45 minute wait for our table, so we got in line and did some people watching while we waited for a slice. The street was bustling and full of characters. It was a nice cool evening so we passed the time.. Finally, we got our Garlic & Clam slice. It was a hearty sheet pan Old School kind of pizza. But, the clams were finely chopped which made this slice basically garlic bread. Nice texture and crunch but not a lot of clam flavor as it was chopped finely. Essentially, garlic bread. I wished we'd ordered another piece but we had to grab it, share few crunchy bites and move to our table nearby. Good, crunchy & piping hot but unremarkable. 6/10 read more

Went here with my family and wow... what a scene. The line was LOOOONG. We waited about 1 hour and 15 minutes for our pizza. But when we took the first bite...all seemed worth it. The pizza was sooo soft, almost like a fluffy cloud, and it just melted in your mouth. The crust was thick but light, crispy on the outside and pillowy inside. Super simple, super good. Only downside: very limited options if you are vegetarian and nothing for vegans. There was just choice between pesto veggie and cheese. Overall though, totally worth the wait. Next time I am 100% ordering ahead because now I know the pizza is worth it, but my feet cannot handle another hour-long line. read more

We ( my family) love this pizza. It's a late night snack. Prom was in SF, and this was a request from my teen. Crust is flaky, and crunchy at the same time. They do not skimp on the toppings. Amazing Detroit style pizza in SF! I heard this place was great and it lived up to the hype. Their topping options are pretty straight forward but each one we had was great. We ordered the combo, the both (sausage and pepperoni), cheese, and the clam and garlic. It was delicious for all members of our family, ranging from toddler to grandparents. Everyone enjoyed the pizza! These slices are hefty and full of toppings with the perfect cheese pull so 2-3 slices was enough for me (and I eat quite a bit). The clam and garlic slice was full of garlic flavor just like I wanted. I honestly didn't really taste the clam so for those that aren't huge seafood fans, don't be turned away from giving it a try. The combo pizza was flowing over with toppings and was my favorite. For the "both" slice, I particularly really liked the quality of the sausage. We called in advance and ordered our pizza to go. When I arrived there was a large line and group of people waiting for their order. If you order take out, just go to the front and let them know. They will ring you right up and bring out your pizza to you. It's an easy way to get your pizza right away without waiting in a long line. Highly recommend folks to try it out!! read more

I was finally able to come try the clam & garlic pizza from Golden Boy Pizza after having it on my list for a few months! I was just walking in North Beach so we grabbed a slice to go and it was still great reheated at home. The clam & garlic is super flavorful with the cheesy, garlicky top on a thick fluffy crust that reminded me of focaccia. The clams are chopped and sprinkled on so don't be hesitant to try it even if you're not a huge fan of seafood. Definitely a great stop in North Beach! read more

Quick to-go pizza place, line was a bit long on a Saturday afternoon but it went by so quick. You can see the pizzas sitting behind the glass where you order at the window/counter. I tried the regular pepperoni and it was so delicious. Super cheesy and fresh. It was not too doughy at all. I hate when thick pizzas are doughy and heavy that feel like a bagel but this was not that. This pizza was super fresh, fluffy, cheesy and everything I would want when I'm craving a cheesy pizza. Super good I wish we tried a few others like the sausage or pesto one. They gave it to us in a wrap paper. I also mark it down 1 star because a homeless person went in front of us in line and started digging through the trash. But other than that it was quick and easy to order and eat on the go. read more

We could make the argument that golden boy is the best pizza in North Beach. We could argue that it's a truly locals only spot. We could say that a slice of golden boy is the best company for night of drinking in North Beach. It's all true. These days, I stop by and pick up a full sheet a few times a year. We had to stop by Golden Boy while visiting Chinatown. The Clam & Garlic was strongly recommended to us and it was good, but mostly only tasted of garlic. I got one bite with a lot of sauce and it was delightful. Otherwise, a little too one note. But we absolutely loved the Pesto Veggie! It was piping hot with crispy cheese edges and ample sauce and toppings. We would have gladly gone back for more if we had time. One of the best pizza spots in the city- certainly earns its typically line queue. I've come here a few times and it never disappoints. The line looks long, but moved decently fast. Unless you're starving 1-2 slices will be plenty. You could go half and half on a small with someone for some savings, but honestly, it's fun to get multiple types. The combo is my favorite, although the clam and garlic is an out of pocket topping that's surprisingly delicious. Don't expect any tables. People will either just eat the pizza standing outside or take it into a nearby bar that allows outsider food. read more

My friends and I went there for takeout on a busy Saturday night. I got there just in time because by the time we got our order, there was a long line. The service was friendly and efficient. People placed their order at the counter window and wait to be called to pick up the food. Everyone waited outside at no one is allowed inside except for staff. I ordered 2 slices (combo and clam) to go without heating so I was able to get my food immediately. The size of the pizza was decent for $4.50 a slice. I definitely liked the clam better than the combo. It has small pieces of clam with a pesto sauce. Overall, it's worth coming back again. read more

Still going strong! I've been coming to this location for over a decade and consistency is key. Came here on a Saturday around 3:30pm and there was a line the entire time we were there. I got 2 slices of two flavors: clam & garlic and combo. They were decent sized slices for the price. The pizza is sicilian style so the crust is thick and spongy. The layer of cheese and ingredients on top is thin. I learned that I do not like this style of pizza- I prefer top heavy with a lot of ingredients and a thinner crust. They also use very little sauce here. Clam & Garlic- this was almost like garlic bread with a hint of clam. I see a good amount of clams on there but it is masked by the garlic. Missing a good white sauce to tie it together. Combo- ingredients are sliced really thin, again feeling like a lightly coated spongy bread. read more

It's difficult for a pizza joint to stand out these days, but this place manages to do it pretty well! The first thing that caught my eye was the non-triangular slice shape. Prices are very reasonable, and the slices are perfectly portioned. I really enjoyed the refreshing clam and garlic pizza--the fried garlic added a nice crunch. The sausage slice was a solid classic. My only critique is that the flavors leaned a bit salty overall. I know pizza styles vary by region, but personally, I prefer a stronger tomato-forward sauce. I also appreciated how they wrap the pizza with the parchment paper inside out so that the red checkerboard design shows through as a nice background for photos. Been coming here for over a year now, almost like a ritual for that good solid corner slice. There is always a long line during the afternoon, but the line moves quick. You line up on the right of the window to order and wait on the left side for your pizza. This place is strictly take-out and take both cash or card. The menu is simple and you can't go wrong with any slice. My favorite is always the combo slice from the corner of the pan. The slices are rectangular Sicilian slices aka Sanfrancilian! They are thick, cheesy, bready, and crunchy slices. You can order them by the slice or by the pan (call ahead if you plan to do that). Prices are very fair. Love the friendly staff and they always smile even when they are overrunned by the crowd of customers. There are three locations (North Beach, Sunset, San Mateo) and this one is my favorite of the three. Love this location and how lively the place can get. read more

Only advice, ALWAYS HAVE THEM HEAT UP THE SLICE AGAIN! This will result in the most amazing pizza you have ever had. The reheat process will make the outside of the crust so warm and crunchy, and the in inside of the dough light and fluffy, you will not regret it. If you order a whole pizza or a slice without them reheating it you will be disappointed. It is more expensive by the slice, but well worth it if the make the bottom crunchy. Amazing slices of Pizza, Reasonable Price. My wife loves the clam and garlic, and I love the combo. Is it a first date place, well maybe as part of a food tour and you are in North Beach. Grab some gelato or Tiramisu and a neighboring restaurant to complete the date. If you do order a whole pizza and take it home, you can replicate the crunchy crust by heating it up in a pan on the stove for a couple minutes. Food 5 of 5 Perfect slice of Pizza. Value 5 of 5 COMBO OF reasonable price and great food. Atmosphere 3 of 5 It was cooler when it was a bar with pinball games and a pizza place, but is now a completely a Togo location. The line looked long on a Friday night but the wait ended up only being around 15 minutes! You order at the counter, and they heat up the pizza for you after you order. The clam & garlic pizza is our No. 1 recommendation! It was only 4.5 dollars, very large slice, and topped with lots of parsley. It has a very garlicky taste. The combo pizza was just as good! Very cheezy, and generous with the toppings. There's pepperoni, sausage, zucchini, and tomatoes. This slice was heated especially warm. The veggie pesto pizza is good if you like pesto and olives. Pepperoni was average, would recommend the combo over that. Don't be scared by the long line, moves fast, and definitely worth the wait :) read more

If I had my way, I would've probably ordered one slice from each pizza, but I contained myself and settled on three separate slices. One for brekkie, lunch, and dinner. That's my idea of meal planning. So, my first slice was combination. It consisted of sausage, pepperoni, zucchini, tomatoes, and mushrooms. My favorite slice by far. I also ordered a slice of the clam and garlic. For those who really like seafood flavor this would be a great choice. The clam flavor was really pronounced and was an equal component to the garlic. I looooove seafood, but I'd have to say that this one was a tad bit overpowering for me. The third slice was good ol' pepperoni and cheese. Who could ever go wrong with such a classic combination? Golden Boy Pizza is a gem in San Francisco's Telegraph Hill neighborhood! The cool vibe, the self-driving cars, the pour-over fancy coffee places and the ethnic markets owned by adorable old couples who have been married for 50 years, but still carry concealed weapons? It's a fairy tale! The service here is impressively efficient, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for a posh area with those old timey SF mixed use properties. We tried the combo pizza and the killer pesto vegetarian pie--both were packed with amazing flavors and far surpassed any of those bland corporate chains. I must say, this location has won my heart over the San Mateo store, though both are fantastic. In a city where "the higher the hills, the higher the bills" doesn't apply, you'll appreciate the long walk home to burn off that extra order of garlic bread. I'm already looking forward to the next trip up to the City for some top-notch pizza with pals. Highly recommend! The situation happened in January 7th,2025 in my Orthodox Christmas. Some lady from this restaurant who is working there was treated me bad and said something bad about my accent, she purposely did not ask me to pick up my order while I was waiting in a line for 35 minutes. As you see the order was made at 6:35 pm. She was so rude and disrespectful towards Russian and Asian people because my husband was with me. I want all of you know that you should avoid this place. They are racist and hate Russians and Asians. When I ask money back she said that I do not want to deal with PEOPLE LIKE YOU RUSSIAN AND ASIANS. This is racism. Shame on them! She hates Russians. We came mid afternoon on a weekend and still there was a line out the door. It's a small establishment but there are a few bar stools in the back if you choose to eat there, though it seemed like most people took a few slices out in boxes to enjoy later. While waiting in line, we were able to see their pizza offerings and peek at their prices. For a slice about the size of a spread open hand its $4.5 and once you bite into it its definitely worthwhile. My favorite was their clam pizza which I enjoyed some of right in the store. It was piping hot (they heat up each order before putting it in the box) and the cheese was stringy and the toppings flavorful, fresh and generous. The crust was overall soft with a slight crisp. I enjoyed my veggie pizza at work the next day and it was almost as tasty heated up. I oddly do not crave pizza, but if anyone were to suggest pizza in North Beach with no frills, I would recommend Golden Boy. read more

I can here with my girlfriend after another friend who lives in the city suggested Golden Boy! It was weekday and midday so not much of a line maybe three people ahead of us! We pretty much knew what we wanted when we arrived but my friend (who's a true golden boy LOL) reminded us to get what's the freshest and we can't go wrong. Slices are like $5 or less! Deal! We ended up ordering three slices; clam garlic which looked very fresh, veggie pesto, a slice of the combo which just popped out of the oven! The counter help was friendly and packed up everything well. We already had drinks from the corner so with pizzas in hand we head to Washington Square to share! Wow! Everything was delicious! I admit the clam garlic was a little over powering LOL but nothing we can't handle! The veggie pesto was a win but my favorite was the combo which was well balanced and so flavorful! Go! read more

Oh Em Gee!! My wife and I used to Live in the neighborhood, and LOVED coming to Golden Boy! I think it's a truly unique experience! The crust is thick, light, and fluffy....The toppings are quality and plentiful! The beer is cold and the women are hot! You can get lucky and get there when the pizzas are stocked and the place is practically empty.....But, give it a few minutes, and the place is a madhouse! The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the bar-stools....They're cool, but uncomfortable....Maybe if they had some padding on 'em? It's Sicilian style pizza. So, don't go in there expecting to get a slice, because you'll get a square! Go there! read more

Really great "hole in the wall" I stumbled across waking through Little Italy salivating over the thought of pizza and beer- and Golden Boy came through. This place is a staple and has been around since 1978. I Got an IPA from the bar next door and sat outside with two slices. Really hit the spot. Fluffy, flaky crust- I live in the suburbs so honestly this crust was such a treat. I'm not used to this deep dish style (I'm sure there's a more enlightened term for it but I'm ignorant) as my local pizza spots only have thin crust. Really quiet nice little area tucked off the main road. Great cheese and toppings, everything was excellent. read more

Tried this place based on the reviews. I visited for lunch around 12:30. The place has 4-5 small tables with 2 chairs each. I was able to get a table. The staff is friendly--seems they enjoy working at this place. They offered a few choices--red/white/sparkling. The pizza was delicious. It's not like the regular pizza--the crust of pizza is soft and chewy. What I had had porchetta and tuna on the top, which was REALLY good. So, overall, the pizza is really good; the staff is friendly and price is reasonable. This is a good place to enjoy good ingredients, but if you want to have a quick bite cheaply there might be alternatives. read more

this place was awful, the woman at the front desk was rude and annoying, she put lipstick and her mascara in my pizza, I have never ever in my life seen a woman with so much makeup, how ugly do you have to be under all that. I watched some crack fiend walk in and start sleeping in the bathroom, I walked in later to see him shitting in the urinal, I'm so unlucky that I find these crackheads doing such unholy acts. I wish I were lying, I don't know how I keep getting such awful experiences. I hate how the place looked, and it smelt like urine everywhere. my cats litter box would have been a cleaner place to eat. read more

Incredible pizza at extremely reasonable prices! I went to Golden Boy on a Friday afternoon. There was quite a bit of people, but after ordering our pizza was ready in ~10-15 minutes. The workers were really friendly and kind! We ordered a half sheet of pizza (you can't order by slice at the moment) with 1/2 pesto veggies & 1/2 combo. The total came out to be around 30 dollars including tax/tip, which was really reasonable (our party of three was already so full after finishing around half). Overall, the pizza was delicious and the crust was amazing. I would definitely recommend and I'll surely be coming back! read more

Golden Boy Pizza rocks! They never disappoint. NEVER. I went around 11:45pm last weekend after going to pier 48 for Octoberfest. A tad drunk my girlfriend and I cabbed it from pier 48 to my apartment to drop off our beer mugs (mine's was brought back with me from Germany), then had the same cab guy drop us off at Golden Boys. Between 2 people we had 2 combos, 1 pepperoni and one garlic and clam pizza. Golden Boy's is my little piece of America. I always stop by Golden Boy Pizza after coming back from a nice long vacation abroad. Thanks for feeding me the best pizza in California and for staying open late! read more

I could see a long line outside the door from quite a distance, but it was only until I got a little closer that I was captivated by the delicious aroma wafting out the front door. This of course, is what convinced me to wait my turn at the back of the line. So was it worth the wait??? Yeah, I would say this place quenched my late night craving for pizza. The pizza is made in a large rectangle sheet and cut into squares. I had the combo which was pretty good. The pizza is made with thick crust and they put TONS of cheese on it. This is definitely not the place to go if you are lactose intolerant. read more
