My sis-in-law took me to this place about a week ago because we couldn't figure out what to have for dinner. My mother had just arrived from Chicago which made her think of Mustard's. I had the Italian beef sandwich. I'm glad I asked what the "gravy" was on their menu. The cashier kindly replied it was au jus. Standard for a Chicago Italian beef sandwich when you want them "dipped." I really liked that you get a choice of cheeses to put on your sammie too. And the giardiniera was the best. I ordered a small sandwich and it was the perfect size. And the fries were delicious. I was born and raised in Chicago...so the memorabilia on the wall was cool to see. My brother and I loved the "You know you are from Chicago if..." poster. Made us smile & laugh big time. The service was quick. Prices were fair. Why I am not giving five stars???? The tables were a little dirty and sticky. We got our order to go so I wasn't too stuck up about it. Also, the meat on my sandwich was a little salty. We went here because we heard they had vegan hot dogs, which my wife ordered. I got the vegan or maybe it was just vegetarian Reuben. I can't say enough how good the Reuben was. It was made with spiced slices of tofu. The way it was sliced was amazing and the flavor was very good. We also got the fries which were amazing. The atmosphere is great to, they have a nice area to sit outside. The staff was nice, and I was amazed with how fast we got our food. Overall, a great place! read more

Good food at a fair price served up by the usual college age dingleberries who could really give a fuck about much of anything except pot and Dub Step. As long as I get a hot dog and some fries in a timely manner, I have no complaints. Works in a pinch whenever I'm around DU. read more

I have to start by saying that even though I am from IL and lived in the Chicagoland area for many years...Chicago style hot dogs are not my favorite style of hot dogs. I prefer a large meaty hot dog like Biker Jim's has. With that being said, Mustard's Last Stand does what they are trying to do...service good Chicago Style Hot Dogs...very well. Fun little atmosphere. Good food and friendly service. My only warning is BE CAREFUL where you PARK. If you park in the lot next door...that kind of looks like it could be theirs, you could be towed. read more

I've passed by here for years but never actually stopped in because I doubted they would have a veggie hotdog. Boy was I wrong! Their soy veggie dog was absolutely delicious and I always feel special when meat focused eateries have vegetarian options. I would absolutely go back and try some more of their veggie options! Wow! I love this place... I took a friend here for lunch and it was so good... She talked about her hot dog all week... We both had the Chicago Vienna style hot dogs but had them grilled.... I love mustard and lots of pickles and sauerkraut on mine... You can have them any different ways... The Vienna dog has just the right amount of crispness to its skin and hot and steamy inside. One other good thing is that you can order a very small fry for 79 cents... What a good deal. They do have a parking lot that they share with another restaurant. Yum.. Went to this place for the first time today and I'll definitely be going back. This is the small, greasy hole in the wall you go to for good hangover food. Do not expect to eat healthy here! Fries, burgers, Chicago dogs, Italian sandwiches smothered in beef gravy, all the good 'ol American fare and then some. Prices are decent and service is meh. The people who work at this joint may not smile all the time, but they'll make your food good and they'll make it right. Be prepared to wait a good 20 minutes during rush times (12.30 and 4.30 - 5.00 at night). read more

I don't understand all the hype! My husband and his family LOVE this place, we had to drive 1.5 hours just to eat here and he talked about it the whole way, so I was excited to try it out. I ordered a char dog, he ordered 3 Chicago dogs and my son had a teenie weenie kids meal. The fries were hard as a rock, and the sauces were GROSS! The parmesan ranch tasted like hidden valley dressing with powdered parmesan sprinkled in- yuck! The mango habanero was unbearably sweet and not even spicy...weird. Not sure what I expected from the "teenie weenie" but it was only about a 3 inch hot dog...also, the carrots that came with my sons kids meal were white, and expired...I felt like I could've made these same exact hot dogs at home for half the price. Awesome local hot-dog and burger joint! The multiple variations of hot-dog styles are all so very good. The burgers, including the buffalo option, are also delectable. You can't beat the freshly prepared toppings either including jalapenos, grilled onions, cheeses, etc... they're all so good! The fresh cut fries are also some of the best I've ever had and are well worth a place order, even just order 'em in a small size. The food here was okay. Definitely not the best burgers or hot dogs I've had. The food was not the problem, the guy was VERY rude. It was my my first time eating here and I brought my cousin out to lunch, my treat. My cousin wanted to pay for both out meals, after only arguing about who was going to pay for a brief 5 seconds, the cashier said " I don't have time for this." Perhaps my expectations were too high. I was so looking for a good chili cheese dog (about $4.50) - and while it wasn't completely awful, it wasn't an off the charts dog. However, the fries were good, especially with the cheese sauce. My kids had corn dogs ($2.50/ea) and they looked yummy. The joint is small and on a hot day it feels like you're cooking in there - the flies also enjoy hanging out at the Mustard's Last Stand... that was kind of a bummer. Anyways, I'd go back for sure - but probably not on a day when it's 97 degrees out. The staff were nice, the location perfect, and just a fun little experience all together. read more

If you are into decadent dogs, this is the place for you. I highly recommend this place if you are itching to break your healthy diet or choosing to continue down the path of a coronary conundrum. It's sometimes tough to get in here during peak hours especially when DU is in session. Nothing wrong with a little comfort food every once in awhile. The selection of hot dogs and topping here is both amazing and mind boggling. Being from Chicago, I figured I had to see what all the fuss was about when I moved to Denver and found this little gem. I will say, the Chicago dogs are great and their fries are pretty on point with the fries you get from back home at the divey hot dog stands. I'll definitely keep coming back here, but their prices are ridiculously high for what they offer... hot dogs. It $4 and some odd change for a Chicago dog, no kraut and no fries. I understand they can charge this much because people, much like myself, keep coming back. But, eventually we might find somewhere else just as good and *gasp* cheaper. For now, I'll keep visiting this place when I get a Chicago craving. read more

Mustard's Last Stand is a dining experience you won't want to pass up if you are visiting the area, and a staple to be enjoyed again and again if you are local. The experience is an ode to the classic divey hot dog stand in Chicago. Simply walking through the door and conversing with any employee will make you feel at home. If you are looking for upscale dining, Mustard's flat out isn't the place to do it. But if you are prepared for a slightly greasy, but delicious feast look no further. The food itself is superb. The dogs are made in true Chicago style-Vienna beef products, pickle spear, celery salt, etc. Nothing fancy, but high quality ingredients make the dog taste exceptional. The fries are a must-order with any entree. Browned and crispy, but not burnt, the sizing is extremely generous (a small fry is all you need if you are eating alone). If you aren't one to count calories, the cheese sauce complements the fries quite nicely. In all of the times I have been to Mustard's I can't say that I have ever found anything to complain about. Service is always quick, prices are more than fair, and most importantly the food is good (although you might want to go on a run before visiting). read more

Mustard's Last Stand appears to be a good hotdog franchise. I went here with some friends and I was not let down. My Chilli Cheese Dog was quite good. Furthermore the fries at Mustard's Last Stand were quite good as well. One thing besides the food that endeared Mustard's Last Stand to me was the fact that they did not charge me for a refill of soda even though they normally charge 35 cents. All in all five dollars or six dollars for a Chilli Cheese Dog is not that bad. Also the quality is fairly decent. read more

Mustard's Last Stand is a no fills Denver and Boulder institution. I have been eating there for well over 20 years and it is still some of the best reasonably priced food in town. The staff is welcoming and genuinely proud of their product. The Chicago dog is fantastic and the Italian beef stands out as one of the best sandwiches if ever had. It's a great place to bring the kids or even just satisfy a case of the munchies on your own. The DU neighborhood has changed a lot over the years but thankfully, Mustard's has stayed true to it's wonderful self. read more
