The only bad part is parking. Hard to find in the evening plus every spot nearby has a 2-hour maximum. Trust me, they enforce it (I've seen it happen). Your best bet is to go down a few blocks on Ellsworth (toward Cherry Creek) and look for parking on the intersecting streets. Last time, I parked on Grant and there was no parking limit. read more

I mean, the bathroom alone deserves five stars. Anywhere they deck out full blown Star Wars is totally a five star experience. When you add books, delicious coffee and a cereal bar... whoa. I'm in an alternate universe of happiness. The layout of Mutiny is a little overwhelming but the staff is styled nice and ready to lend a hand. I bought a book and iced coffee for less than $10 and that's a big win in my book. To call this place a gem is an understatement. This is a cultural landmark. So many of my friends have had their work sold here, sold work outside at the tents, and otherwise been represented by mutiny. The owner is kind and supportive and has given me tips on my own practice of selling comics. So thankful they were able to stay open. read more

My favorite bookstore in the city. I've been here late night to watch my friend's band and dance away my stress from the week. Whenever I have out of town visitors, I always bring them here to shop and have some tea. I've gotten some great stickers, poetry books, journals, and even a really cool painting. Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. This cafe is a funky little spot with a lot of character! They've got you covered with vinyl and comic book classics! They're all slightly used but at exceptional prices. You can easily spend a whole Saturday there , which I did, scouring the boxes full of albums and fun comic books. On top of that they have board games, arcade games, and books galore! I also saw that they do several events during the month so definitely check out their website to get all the info on what is going down! They had a great coffee bar which served locally made coffee and a variety of drinks for you non coffee drinkers. They had chais, teas, and plenty of Italian sodas! I was overwhelmed with the selection of syrups they have (I'm so used to the Starbucks typical 5 flavors). The barista suggested I try a black coffee with maple syrup- deeeelicious! My favorite part- the Iced coffee was chilled with actual frozen coffee ice cubes! I've never seen that before at a local coffee shop. It was great- my coffee never lost its flavor as the ice cubes melted. That's what sets this coffee shop apart from the rest in Denver! My only remark I have about Mutiny that I want others to be aware of is that it's not a very quiet coffee shop- Don't come here if you want to concentrate on a good book. With the several pinball machines it gets quite loud in there and can be very distracting. There's so many fun 'goodies' in there though that you don't want to miss out on this place! But don't forget about the coffee! Yes, there's coffee, too! I really enjoy shopping at Mutiny Information Cafe. What's more, I like hanging out at Mutiny. The ambiance is really conducive to relaxation. Have a seat, grab a drink from the coffee bar and read, study or converse with friends. It's all good here. Before we have a "mutiny" on our hands, I want to say that this unique place that one must see in person to truly appreciate attracts a very cool crowd! I could totally picture this shop in Portland or SF. There is a pretty nice selection of vinyls, books, and cool knick knacks. I ordered a tea which was decently good! I walked around the shop with my friend, watching someone play Pinball with his cat. Yes! This is the awesome kind of experience one will find here. I also ordered a vegan pumpkin bread which I ate the next morning because I was going straight from this store to the airport for a red eye. The bread tasted pretty stale. Nice place and environment been there many times no issue however today my friends and I experienced something extremely unprofessional. A man with half bleached afro acuses us of stealing. instead of asking us to leave in a professional way he pokes 3 minors and starts cussing us out. the situation could have been handled much better and frankly I feel disappointed in a store I love very much. read more

Earlier today was enjoying coffee and saw kids being yelled at for browsing the movies and stickers. The kids were being accused for stealing. The staff member then got up in one of the kids face yelling curse words in their faces and telling them to get out of the store. This was even after proving they were not stealing. Beverage: Requested for a Lungo shot, and it was such a perfectly smooth shot. Especially since I have been avoiding coffee and espressos since August 2018 (BTW, they use Pablo's Beans). My daughter (she's 17yrs old) had the Hot Chocolate (HC), she doesn't usually drink anything sweet but she loved her HC, it was the perfect balance of sweet and bitter. Exactly how chocolate should taste. I also later order the Kombucha, it's on tap, and has a stunning foam. It was so delicious, and I was so mad at myself for not ordering the large. Staff: It was The staff were super cool and nerdy in the most adorable way possible. We talkes briefly about vintage cartoons from Hanna Barbera, and non mainstream DC/Vertigo characters. Comics/Books/Music: The Comic selection is decent, mostly the more popular characters from Icon, Vertigo, Dark Horse, Marvel, DC. Which is cool, you can't supply what doesn't sale. There are a few Manga, I really didn't go though that collection. They have cassette tapes, licorice pizzas, CD's, all used but very eclectic selection. There's pinball machines, a vast selection of books (including local writers) & ample seating. I wish this was closer to my house. Vinyl lovers, rejoice! This is my #1 spot in Denver to find awesome, inexpensive records. This spot is so good that I debated even leaving a review--but it's happening, because I love you. My secret is out! Mutiny has the best $1 record section in Denver. It may take some digging, but this shop is seriously a gold mine for awesome classic records (for a buck!!). They've got a good selection of newer, more expensive records as well, though don't expect to find many (if any) brand new records here. Other things you should frequent Mutiny for: fantastic used books, comics, music posters, patches, pins, and good, strong coffee. I love vintage/thrift and the thrill of sorting through the unknown to find some real treasure. Even if second hand shopping isn't your thing, I think Mutiny feels pretty clean and organized while still giving off an eclectic vibe. I lived just a few blocks away from Mutiny when I first moved to Denver, but I still make a point to head across town and stop in every so often. Right in the heart of South Broadway, this shop seems to represent everything its 'hood is about: culture, rad music, and community. This is one of my favorite places to go. Even if I didn't live one minute away, I'd still go. I get lost reading in their aisles or I can stand for 30 minutes looking at comics. Their cold brew coffee is fantastic and their coffee ice cubes are second to none. I love that they have oat milk as well - very smooth. It's full of character and people who just love being there. If I had to rank this place off of atmosphere alone, I would give a full 5-star review. There is room for improvement however, as this place is not perfect. All the positive things there are about this place can be noticed immediately upon walking inside. A trendy used book store that also has a cafe, comics, records, and pinball machines. The store is colorfully bright with books, comics, posters, and the like posted everywhere. The clientelle is relatively young and "hip" - I don't think I saw many people there older than myself (35) besides the staff. If you dig a little deeper into the book section of the store, you will begin to see what holds this shop back from a full 5-star review. There are an abundance of books in a variety of categories - fiction being the largest. Within each category however, there are few books of notariety or any best sellers. The condition of all the books are subpar - even for a used bookstore. The condition of the books would not be so bad if it were not for the pricing. For example, on my most recent visit I bought a copy of "Michelangelo" by Rolf Schott for $6. The glue from the binding was dried up and many of the pages fall out. When i read the back cover, the origial price for this book new was $3.95! There were a few other books I noticed in which the used price for the book was more than the price brand new, but I decided to give the shop the benefit of the doubt and assumed that the scarcity of the used book justifies the price increase. I don't think the 1 or 2 dollar price dicrepency is enough to give this store anything less than 4 stars. I still plan on coming back and spending my money here again. I love the atmosphere here and even if going through their book selection is a bit of a treasure hunt, I enjoyed it. read more

Awesome local gem. Decent coffee, fun experience, so much to distract yourself with. Local shows/events/music some nights! A bit chaotic, it's like they ran with every new idea that came their way, so now they have a little of everything - but most of it is disorganized and unattended. Book collection is small and sporadic, and you feel like you are about to trip over everything else. The vinyl selection is decently priced, a bunch of good condition records were a fraction of competitors. The selection was decent, even if the staff was rude, unresponsive, or hungover (fits the aesthetic for a punk shop at least) Not sure if there is free wifi, which sucks as it is a bookstore cafe. A college friendly cafe with arcade games, loads of books (It's a bookstore) and a friendly staff. We found all kinds of indie-decor and interesting posters. They sold Marvel Comics and their action figures too. We saw lots of vintage stuff including Elvis Presley collectibles. I see lots of students coming here and having some study time with one another! They also have an interesting bathroom with Star Wars painted and it's just putting my own bathroom to shame. MIC was one the first coffee shops I visited when I moved to Denver and i fell in love the moment I walked in the door. I try to visit every couple of weeks on Saturday or Sunday. I always find an interesting fiction book and grab a cup of coffee. MIC carries an eclectic collection of used books, local zines, records, post cards, knick-knacks and more! There is a cute cereal bar as well as housemade snacks. One thing I found interesting and refreshing is that the displayed prices are tax included I can know what I'm spending before I put my order in. For some that won't matter, but it my mind that makes much more sense! Bonus: they also have a public printer that anyone can print from for like 19¢/page. read more

They are open from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. during weekdays and open til 2 a.m. on weekends. There's a decent cafe menu that includes teas, Italian sodas and other drinks. I also saw vegan muffins if you're interested in vegan options. There are used books in the back and near the cafe station/bar there are bookshelves for local reads with a nice selection, meaning there was a variety of topics from Buddhism, beer, murder (a comedy) and others. There are arcade games and a photo booth that gives it a vintage cool vibe. There's music for sale on vinyl records and cassette tapes. There are comic books for sale as well as t-shirts and posters. In the back there's a few more places to sit and some board games I think you're allowed to open and play. The staff didn't seem to keep an eye on me while I explored the store which is nice because not all independent shops are comfortable with customers that are browsing around for a bit. I honestly wish there were more independent cafe/bookstore shops like this around. The people who work there or own the place also have a podcast on their website and I was told sometimes they interview musicians. I saw there were keys for a bathroom but I didn't go in so I don't know how clean the bathroom is. Its between one of my favorite restaurants and one of my favorite markets, and something about it always pulls me in.
