If you're looking for a groomer who thinks they know more than your vet, or if you're comfortable with being canceled on at the groomer's whim and being charged for it, then Alex might be the right choice for you. However, if you value clear communication, respect for your vet's professional advice, and fair business practices, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere. Over the past few years, I've had multiple interactions with Alex, and many of his opinions have been questionable at best. One example that sticks out is when he told me he couldn't cut my dog's hair shorter because it might not grow back (which might be true) but then he went on to say that grooming could cause my dog stress, and even claimed he'd seen dogs develop heart or liver problems from grooming to short. I mentioned this to my vet, and she strongly disagreed. Recently, my husband brought both of our dogs in for their scheduled grooming appointments. He informed the groomer that our pup had a dental cleaning the day before and that our vet had cleared him for grooming. Despite this, Alex refused to groom our dog, stating he didn't agree with the vet's clearance. He also claimed it wasn't safe and said our dog wasn't fit to be groomed. After that, I called to reschedule, only to be told the next available appointment was two weeks away, and it would depend on when the vet gave approval again. I explained our vet had already cleared the dog, but Alex insisted he didn't agree with her. To make matters worse, Alex mentioned his contract stated he could charge for missed appointments, even though he was the one who canceled. When I asked to see the contract, he said it didn't specify the reasons for cancellations but that I'd still be responsible for paying. After some back-and-forth, Alex told me he wouldn't be seeing my dogs anymore and asked me to pick up the one he had already started grooming. Apparently, he didn't like me questioning his charges or his decisions. read more

Our senior maltipoo has been coming to Mutt Cuts for a while now and is a vet to grooming in general, she always has great haircuts with them. We just added a Goldendoodle to our family and today was her first grooming visit. They were thorough in explaining their process of introducing a puppy to grooming and gave a detailed report in the end about how she did and what to do at home to make sure her future visits are successful as we venture into her life of grooming. This morning I brought our Bernedoodle for a full service cut. I explained that I was concerned about his ears as they can get infected easily if not cleared out. Additionally and most importantly, we agreed on a cut and she went on to say it would take longer. This was service with them and all the past services have been satisfactory. Long story short, our dog came out and I didn't recognize him. In fact, I told her twice that it wasn't our dog. My heart dropped and it remains in my stomach. He literally looks like a different Dog. Without exaggeration! They shaved him down like a Labrador and we are still in SHOCK! She claimed that he was too matted do the cut we agreed on and that's done regularly. We received no phone call, that would have been the right and frankly ethical thing to do. Additionally, they had me pay, including an upcharge before they brought our dog out. I would NEVER have agreed to compinsate them had they came out with him. Which incidentally they have come out with him each time prior to the payment process. We feel strongly that this was deliberate. I was literally in shock so didn't react while in the store. Rather, I spoke with my wife and decided to respond and not react. I phoned them after I calmed down to explain our dismay and absolute confusion. To add insult to injury she told me "good luck finding someone". I then hung up. Called back again and a gentleman answered who I believe was the owner. It was clear he was apprised of the situation. Going on to say we agreed on a short cut. As previously stated, this was NOT the case. We have several photos of him after his last visits and they are, let just say, drastically different. He was cut not shaved like he is now. They then said it was also because they had not seen him in 3 months. Again, not the case. He was on a calander to get groomed every quarter or 3 months. Given this was the second excuse for their malfeasance, we are stopping the charge on our card and I guess I'll just forget about the $40 cash tip I gave her. again, before they showed me our dog. Save yourself from their deviance and go elsewhere. They are not only rude but pushing people for more regular visits. read more

My Husky is a very anxious dog. She has been going to Rachel since say one (she is 3.5yrs). My baby would get to anxious with the typical grooming, so Rachel suggested the expedited grooming (she just focuses on Frida so she is done quicker and outta there in less than 1.5hrs). It is a bit more pricy but nothing crazy and also, I want my Frida to be as comfortable as possible. I stopped taking Frida to her groomimg appts for at least 6 months, and one random day, we saw Rachel at a store. My Frida ran up to her, licked her face and her tail was wagging like crazy! Needless to say, Frida loves Rachel and recognized her right away. I also recommended my in-laws here, they also love the services for their two lil' dogs. 100% recommend. We have returned to our scheduled appts, and are still happy happy! read more

Alex has always gone above and beyond for the dogs in my life. My mom had a 12+ year old long hair chihuahua that was like 5 pounds. My moms not the easiest person to get to understand things but Alex was consistent and did his best for Mia, while keeping my mom happy. My boyfriend and I have two dogs, ones a wolf-dog and Alex does a wonderful job with Thor. Thors ten, set in his ways, and prefers being a dirt ball. Alex makes him look like a cloud! Alexzander is a "dog whisperer"! My terrier mix is shy, very active, and can be a handful but Alexzander was able to clip her nails and bathe, cut and groom her. Something her dog obedience trainer or her vet could do. So very impressed. We'll be back! read more

Not only did my 5 pound dog who has never had issues at a groomer before cry for two days after his appointment but they proceeded to say my dog was terrible, and they cut his hair so short by his neck his skin is showing. Alex went out of his way to make the situation right and I didn't review the first time we went so thought it only fair to rate them now. We have a pup, Stewart, who can be difficult and Alex was able to groom him without drawing any blood, which is a real accomplishment. Both Stewart and Marley looked great and we'll continue using Mutt Cuts for our grooming needs. read more

Alex was grooming my dog for several months. However, last month during my dog's appointment Alex had another dog get sick and put him way behind. When my daughter and myself were smilingly trying to elicit a new pick up time, he became rude and told us we could take my dog, unfinished, in a rude manor. We did wait until he was completed but he took our inquiry as an insult and said my daughter was yelling at him when she was only trying to talk above the barking noise since he was in back of salon. Granted he was having a bad day but that did not excuse his rudeness. Today I tried to talk to him about it and he flat told me to take my dog. He did not want to groom her and said that since I thought my daughter was right didn't want to deal with me either. This attitude makes me worry about how he really treats the animals when customers are not in salon. To me, Alex showed very poor people skills and am glad I am not going back to him. Life is full of bad days especially when you run a business. Alex needs to learn how to deal with those days in a better manor. read more

We've taken our dog Ollie to see Alex three times. Ollie was a rescue dog that needed significant grooming and special handling, likely due to his previous owner's treatment. The first time we stopped in for a meet and greet. Alex directed us to come back at a later date so Denise could assist. Second visit went well. Denise and Alex were a great team. We had to help restrain him at first but eventually with the charm of Denise and Alex, he got through the grooming and came out looking like a different but very happy dog. The most recent time, Alex and Ollie got along fine and we left him there. Came back in a couple of hours to pick him up. Alex did a great job with special cuts and attention to his curly fur. His rates are very reasonable, provides excellent advice and he's super to work with. We are so happy that we found Alex and Mutt Cutts. read more

Owner seemed like a nice person but the haircut that was given to my beautiful golden retriever will have him hiding in the garage all summer. We are very timid in the first place getting him cut because he is so gorgeous and we get nothing but compliments on his dark coat. We left specific directions to not shave him keep it long and if we want it shorter we can always go shorter but you can't go back longer. As my wife walked in the door to pick him up she knew right away he had messed up and he did not look very confident either. If You don't know how to give golden retrievers haircuts then don't do it and he does not know how to do it. I do not and I repeat I highly do not recommend him touching golden retrievers. This place is horrible. I would never recommend anyone with a large animal to go to this place. My newfoundland had been to this place one other time and they did a pretty good job so I thought I would bring my newfoundland back. Now the first time I did bring my newfoundland to this place Alex did try to get me to shave my dog but he listened when I said no just do the best you can Newfoundlands should not be shaved. And of course Alex did not have to shave my Newfoundland and he was able to brush him out just fine... I had this appointment today and when I got there Alex said I will have to shave your newfoundland to get the knots out. I felt my dogs coat and while there was some knots it wasn't bad and Alex kept making a much bigger deal then it really was,actually the newfoundlands under coat is what Alex was feeling in some areas and since its time to brush that out it feels bunched up (thick) . While I explained to Alex that I did not want my dog shaved, Alex did not like that I just wouldn't go along with his way.I then said could you just wash him and brush him out the best you can and I will do the rest. Alex always had a excuse why this wouldn't work like Alex stating doing this would cause more knots "really" that makes no since. Then Alex stated I'm not going to break my back over your dog then went on to say I could go brush my dog out then bring him back. Mind you the price would be the same over 100.00 yet I would of done what I would expect would be included in the price for a grooming app. Then Alex went on to say if I brush this out your dog wont like it and might bite me, I stated my dog wouldnt bite anyone and Alex stated back you don't know that its like if I keep getting in your face you might hit me. All I could think at that point is what in the world is wrong with this groomer. Then Alex went on and said I'm not going to argue with you anymore I just don't see this working so you just don't need to come back here. I found it so interesting that this groomer was choosing to handle things in this manner. One there was no arguing I just didn't want my Newfoundland shaved, it seemed as if Alex just wanted to make easy money shave the dog not groom the dog. If Alex knew dogs as I would expect he should then he should of known it is not good on a Newfoundland to have there fur shaved, you can look this up online. But Alex would not have it anyway but the easy way to make money. Reminder Alex had done my dog before so he should of know what to expect. Another thing Alex tried acting like it had been so long since I had been in yet at the last grooming app. Alex had told me my dog only needed to come in 2 times a year and my dog had been groomed 2 times last year. It had only been about 7 mon since my dogs last app with Alex.Good luck to you if you choose this groomer he doesn't want to do his job the right way.... read more

Owner, seems, to be a nice guy, but I was not pleased from my experience afterwards, having taken my dog to this groomer. The morning after, my dog's eyes were practically stuck shut from the pus seeping from his irritated eyes. It was not normal "eye booger" stuff, and his eyes were red therefore seemingly inflamed. Turns out after taking him to our vet, his corneas were, not severely, but still badly scratched, and now $160 dollars later we have the medicine and eye drops to keep him comfortable and heal his eyes. I don't know if this groomer had gotten soap and/or hair in my dog's eyes, and therefore they were irritated and my dog began to rub and scratch at his own eyes... or, if while brushing out his fur, this groomer possibly scratched his eyes with the brush... The truth is, all I know is that I haven't had such issues with my dog, (who is more like family than a pet) ever before, until the literal morning after having taken my dog there to be groomed the previous day. I don't know what happened, but it resulted in my dog having to deal with serious discomfort and I'm flaming pissed, thank you very much. Not recommended. read more
