We had a positive experience about 18 months again at Passion Auto, so when we had an issue with our Civic we brought it here. What an expensive and costly experience for us this time around! We showed Matt videos of the issue we were having with the car. If you drove it an hour or so, it would not restart once you turned it off. This led to being stranded at a gas station twice in a week. Paid $75 for a diagnostic check and was told we needed a new starter and a valve gasket cover. This cost us around $850. Well, the same exact problem happened on the same day after picking up the vehicle back up. So of course we brought it back. Then Matt says he believes it's a heat sensor. He believes he is 85% sure. He originally quotes us $228 more for that. After a back and forth , Matt knocks it down to $170. We agree to this because we don't want to start over with another mechanic. The same exact problem happens yet again. His solution is to then tell us to take it to the dealership. Wow. YOU are the mechanic and I am out over $1k and the car is doing the exact same thing it was doing the day before I brought it to Passion Auto. This is a civic with barely 50k miles on it. I feel very confident we didn't need a new starter at the very least. He insists it was covered in oil but no pics or videos or even just showing us. This guy took our $1k, didn't fix the problem at all and recommended we take it to a dealer after 3 trips to his shop in a week. That is unbelievable to me. Well, we did take it to the dealership and turns out it was the fuel pump. It was the fuel pump, Matt. That's all. Apparently the $75 diagnostic we paid for wasn't able to pick up the fuel pump as being the culprit. What diagnostic check can't pick up a vital issue with the fuel pump?? The car is now running like a champ but we are still $1 k lighter for repairs and parts we didn't need and clearly didn't fix the issue. I would not recommend this place at all anymore. I've never had a mechanic tell me to take it to another mechanic after taking my money before. At least the dealership knew how to fix the issue, and the car is running fine now. Good luck with this place. If they can't figure it out, they will just tell you to go to someone who can. Awesome. 1 star.

Omg!! The best experience ever & I can't recall the lovely mans name that was leaving that day for vacation & it was his wife's bday. He stayed after .& helped me get freeon in my AC on a late Saturday afternoon to allow me & my babies to get home.safe next day. So lucky I got this amazing soul & gentleman to help me!

I brought my car in because it was shaking and idling really rough -- I honestly thought I just needed a tune-up. Matt and his team immediately recommended a full inspection, and they went straight to the real issue. The engine mounts were completely shot and needed to be replaced. They gave me a very fair price using genuine BMW parts, finished the work way ahead of schedule, and got me back on the road fast. Even with a full shop, they treated me like a priority and delivered true 5-star service.

I have never been angrier in my life with a business. When I first took my car to Passion Auto Repair, I had high hopes. They had mostly good reviews, their prices seemed fair, and they were able to take me in right away. Unfortunately, that was the start of a nightmare. On my first visit, I paid $293.18 for spark plugs and an ignition coil. The very next day, my check engine light came back on. I returned, and they reset the light, telling me it was actually a fuel pressure sensor issue and quoted me $182.56 more. A week later, I brought the car back for that repair. After I paid, the mechanic literally told me, "Drive it around and see what happens. I have no way of knowing if the check engine light will come back on." The very next day...it did. At this point, I had been to their shop three different times for the same issue. My car is a 2019 Ford with under 40,000 miles, very well maintained, so these problems make no sense. Especially after they claimed to have "fixed them" Between the shady repairs, the money I've already lost, and the fact that the same issue keeps coming back, I no longer trust this business at all. Finally, I went in calmly to discuss a refund. Instead of professionalism, I was met with hostility. After a very defensive back-and-forth, the owner told me to "Get the hell out of his shop." I now truly question how they have so many positive reviews. My experience matches all the negative reviews word-for-word, and I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. I will be sharing my story with everyone I can so others don't get taken advantage of the same way.

Do I have to make a time reservation?

You should always. How else would you know if the people/persons will be there when you arrive. Otherwise, it's probably going to be a wasted trip.

How much does a smog check cost?

We will scan your vehicle for free to ensure is it ready for smog, unfortunately we do not offer SMOG check or renewals at this location.

To be fair, they did attempt to replicate the conditions, and I chose not to proceed with a full diagnostic at that time because I initially wanted a visual inspection first. After that inspection, I was quoted $1,800 for a compressor replacement by a technician named Gary. What concerned me was the level of confidence in diagnosing the compressor as the issue without a full diagnostic. From what I understand, and based on further research, it's very difficult to definitively determine that a compressor is the cause of a squealing noise without running proper tests under load and evaluating related components like the belt and tensioner. To be clear, I did decline diagnostics initially, but I was still reassured that the compressor was the issue, which didn't feel like a fully supported conclusion. I also looked into pricing, and while compressor replacements can be expensive, most estimates I found for Las Vegas are generally in the $700-$1,200 range (with some variation depending on the vehicle). That makes the $1,800 quote seem on the higher end, especially without a confirmed diagnosis. Part of me speculates if the high quote may partially due to me being a woman, however, I can't confirm this suspicion to be true. I did not move forward with the repair and will be getting a second opinion. I would recommend others ask for a full diagnostic and possibly a second opinion before agreeing to major repairs. After more research I'll be trying Busy Boots for the second opinion, as they have higher yelp ratings.

Called up and scheduled an appointment with Jon. Upon his arrival we just knew things were about to trend in the right direction. He has such an incredible personality, is patient and overall, has a down to earth demeanor that is a RARITY (and refreshing to see) in this city. After attempting to "kick" the starter and run diagnostics on the battery, it became evident that both needed to be replaced. The battery was only a few months old, but as is the case sometimes, there is a chance you might end up with a dud. Based on Jon's suggestion, we managed to get a replacement from the nearby auto parts store, and within a couple days, the starter replacement arrived, and Jon not only installed it but even helped change the oil in my mom's car as well and answer some of her questions and concerns. We will definitely continue to use, as well as recommend Jon to friends and family. Thanks Jon! BTW: The Rooster, with his leather jacket on, says hi. :D

Our go to mechanic for everything from usual oil change, to complicated old issues where most mechanic will guess their work. At Tyler Express, they know what they are doing. And if they have to figure it out, I fully trust them in not trying to rip me off; they will explain what they feel they can control. We've been going since 2024; they moved location to 3915 W Twain Ave. I kept forgetting to create this review. - In the past, an oil change, oil filter would be like 15-20min for $30ish cash/zelle. - This visit we brought our own oil, oil filter, filters (cabin/engine), fuel system cleaner; and pay for labor. All of this + whole car quick check is 45min-1hr from $70. We already have our own oil due to needed to refill the Prius every so often. Otherwise, I don't think its an issue to just use their supplies? Waiting room is clean with comfortable new couches, coffee Keurig cup machine, etc. It has ac. You'll have to walk through the left door office, and it's in the back area of it. With this new location, you're like 6min walk away from many great places -- - Plaza with Golden Tiki (bars and food), - 99 Ranch Market and plaza, - Rio Casino Hotel, and - Take It Easy Roasters to morning/afternoon wifi/study/work on laptop from 8am-4pm (9min/0.4 miles stroll away) - Pop Café to afternoon/evening wifi/study/work on laptop from 2pm-10pm M-Sat (13min/0.6 miles stroll away). Google Maps makes this place pretty difficult to find. DIRECTIONS: 1. Google to Green Valley Grocery, then 2. drive to the right of it where Modern Designs & More LLC/Floor Showroom is. 3. Tyler Auto is connected to, and located as the right side attached building opening. Payment, they need a full name attached for the bill. You'll learn a lot of tips and more about your car.... Opening trunk hatchback from the inside of the car, make the dashboard screen appear when needed again, etc.. Towing: - We called Tyler Auto and they were willing to take us in. They took in our car from being towed for simple stupid mistake by us (no gas, we have a dashboard blank out issue/typical issue for old Prius in hot climate places). - Towed our car in. Apparently a lot of cars get towed here. Alot of the Vietnamese restaurant owners bring their car there which is a good sign to us. - Tow person's tip: Police tow will cost around $500 where cops also get a cut from it. Don't take a Police tow unless you have to. Cash or Zelle is best. They have QR code to pay.
