Randomly came here on a weekday morning to pick up half a dozen donuts and a breakfast croissant sandwich. The service was super friendly and fast! Got my food in/out in 5 minutes or even less. I got half a dozen of regular donuts - those donuts were so good! Fluffy and soft, sweet but not crazy sweet. Half a dozen of donuts was pretty affordable, less than $10. The breakfast croissant sandwich with sausage, eggs, and cheese were soooo goooood. The croissant was buttery and soft. We killed it so fast! The sandwich costs about $7.50, I got the most expensive ones. If you want it on a english muffin or bagel, its a couple dollars cheaper (which is a steal!). Overall its a solid spot for some good donuts and breakfast sandwiches. Loved how there was tons of parking too. read more

This is my Favorite donut shop in Hayward, the donuts are perfect not to Doughy. But I specifically come for their Croissants , they are so buttery and delicious . Good donuts. They must get a good deal of foot traffic from the school nearby. It was pretty busy when I walked in on a weekday morning. The strawberry frosted was really good, I liked the frosting a lot -- no sprinkles though, which I was expecting. Either way, 2 donuts and a coffee ran me around $6, in line with other donut spots. Would be back as it's really close to where I live and has great parking options, both on the street and in an adjoining lot. read more

This little gem of a donut shop serves up some classic fresh, delicious donuts to energize you for the day! Located in a tiny, overlooked strip, this local business shines with their quality food and exceptional service. There's plenty of parking relative to the 3 shops here (MX Donut, a grocery store, and another establishment that escapes me at the moment). There isn't a clear sign to draw you in but the customers who come are likely locals who know what's good or those who've found them via Yelp or other apps (Too Good To Go). There are a few tables and seats for dine in, but during the late morning/afternoon, it's pretty quiet. I had a take out order and was in and out fairly quick. The display case showcases their flavors of the day but you can also order prepared food like sandwiches and bagels. The classic yeast raised donuts were fluffy and had a good bite to it. The sugar and glaze were not overly sweet and the dough was not sweet either. Compared to other donut shops, I did not feel guilty eating the donuts. Yes, I ate two in one sitting and didn't feel too bad. You can do it too, no one will judge! The chocolate frosting on the chocolate donuts was also not too sweet and had a good richness to its flavor. The cinnamon sugar crunch also was not overly sweet and had a good crunch to it. The old fashioned/cake donuts were crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Perfect bites! Donut holes had good texture and moderate sweetness. Perfect for the kiddos or if you're just looking for a little tease before you dig into a full sized one! Overall, this local donut shop has perfected their recipe for classic donuts and back it up consistently. Great service and clean interior makes it a decent place to visit despite its rough and dated exterior. MX deserves your Amex (or whatever form of payment you decide to use)! read more

There was some good and not so good here. The people at the counter were the nicest people I have encountered in a shop in a while so I added another star to what otherwise would have been a 3. Breakfast bagel with bacon: 4.5/5. Really yum. Would get this again without any hesitation. Breakfast bagel with sausage: 3.5/5. The sausage had more fat than I like, but some people might light this. Chocolate cronut: 1/5. This had a really strong cooking oil flavor--which is bad for a donut. Happy to give them 5 stars. I don't give 5 stars that often. Hayward is the place to come for donuts. Local small business. Service was friendly so I always give props for that. They are sorta hidden away not in downtown Hayward. If I ever need donuts for a work event or other occasion, I would stop in here to support this business. Their glazed donuts and donut holes are as good as Krispy Kreme, and I'd rather give my support and money to a local business instead of the chains. read more

It's honestly crazy this place doesn't have more reviews. I'm almost certain it's because the location of the shop is to the side of the road in a little plaza. So maybe people unfortunately overlook it, myself included. But these donuts are so fresh & so good. I bought a bunch for my family & I to enjoy. It was my first time trying this place & I wanted to eat one before I even headed home because they looked so good. They were so delicious that I ate 2 in the car! I came here for a TGTG pick up and received a dozen donuts. Solid plain and traditional donuts. No frills or fancy ones. This would a be a dependable spot for the traiditional route. Service was really friendly too. Plenty of parking. Think the normal pricing for a glazed is $1.35. read more

I'm no novice when it comes to donuts, this is going to age me but my first job while in high school was Winchell's 4am-noon Sat & Sun! It took me years before I could enjoy eating a donut and I won't eat any donut. What makes these donuts so good is that they're very fresh. The young couple who owns the shop keep the selection down to a minimum and fry up the donuts in batches rather than all at once. Shop is located on the corner of Harder & Franklin near Soto and across the street from Cardenas. Seems like most of the clients are regulars. They have the standard cake, old fashion, raised, bars, twists, apple fritters, bear claws and cinnamon rolls. The apple fritters are crispy and good and the raised donuts practically melt in your mouth. They also have bagels and croissants. The croissants are HUGE. read more

The service is friendly. The young man who helped me greeted me with a warm and genuine smile. The donuts were as advertised, they are traditional, nothing fancy, classic donuts. Came here to get some donuts for my workplace and they were really nice and were really patient with me because it took some time to figure out what I wanted and needed. The donuts were great. I love their donut holes and would come back to get some more donuts again! Total recommended if you want some donuts in the morning! The prices aren't that bad either very affordable. I literally spent less than $15 just to get a dozen and 2 bags of donut holes. read more

Who goes to a specific donut shop two days in a row, when the usual M.O. is maybe once/month? The correct answer: I do. This is an easy-to-miss destination in South Hayward, not on the beaten path for most Yelpers. On West Harder Road, just down the street from Harder Elementary School on the same side of the street. I feel like I am one of the first to discover this 'little gem'. An overused descriptor, but a very accurate one in this case. I am only the 8th reviewer of this place? Insane! When the previous owners @ Castro Valley Donuts retired a few years back, our fam cried some real tears for this loss to the donut community. I am very happy to announce that MX has filled that void in the CV/Hayward/SanLo donut scene. The young couple here at MX who apparently are new owners are trying extremely hard to make the very best donuts possible. Their efforts show in a BIG WAY! Fluffy, light, airy, and delicate on the flavor meter. Man-o'-Man, I am back in Donut Heaven when biting into one of these. While their selection is meager at best, there is quality in their wares. Look closely at their glass display case, and you can see that much care was put into the display of pastries. Donut quality YOU CAN SEE from the other side of the glass! Amazing! The donut holes and the hard-to-perfect Glazed French Crullers were almost obscene in how good they were. When does a donut warrant the adjective of 'obscene'? These do! On my return trip the next day I had the pleasure of acquainting myself to one of their delicious Apple fritters. The outer texture is delicately crispy....with the crunch almost like caramel corn, while the inside is nice and fluffy. Their's is not nearly as heavy as other A. Fritters I have known in the past. Probably the best I have had in a long, long time! Make that trip out here just to try one of these, if they're your weakness. When I hear that they're open at 4:30AM....what do you think THOSE donuts taste like....still warm? I've got no business being ANYWHERE in the vicinity of this shop @ 4:30 AM. However, I am plotting the reason to make it over there sometime in the near future to try their FRESH & WARM donuts. Simple old school donut Flavors like glazed raised, chocolate raised, cake donuts, apple Fritters, chocolate & maple bars, jelly donuts, etc. Though, they did have some oversized donuts. Overall, 3.5 stars. If I am in the area again, I'd try something of their other donuts flavors. Support your local business.

When the opportunity presented itself, I came by today for the first time. The decor was mediocre but I was here for a take out order so my review will be strictly on the taste of the mochi donut itself. Mochi donut (Macha & Strawberry flavored) - 5 out of 5 They were fluffy and chewy in texture. Compared to your regular donut, it's just a different style of donut altogether. There is not actual mochi in the donut itself just a mental note. The sweetness wasn't overpowering which I liked and they're extremely fresh. Compared to the ones they offer in Osaka Marketplace, this one blows them out of the park. For any type of donuts, I general look for two things: 1. Are they fresh (if they aren't, you can generally tell from the dough being tougher if no other additives are placed in the dough) 2. The sugar toppings (If they place a heavier emphasis on sugar, I usually stay away since I'm more focused on the flavor instead) Service - 3 out of 5 The lady over the counter was a bit slow. She was on the phone when I came in and it took her about 10 minutes to finish her conversation before she was able to get to us. I think it was a phone order? It looked like she's the only person taking orders since the other workers saw us but kept on doing whatever they were doing. If you don't mind waiting a little like myself, it's a definite must try if you enjoy a chewier textured type of dough in your donuts or would just like to give a new type of donut a try. I don't usually judge too hard on the service staff in places like these since they're mostly mom and pop owned. Understand that when we come, they're just trying to do their best with what they've got is all we can ask for. Ultimately, the food takes home the win and Mochinut here did exactly that for me. They seemed to be Vietnamese owned since they sell other Vietnamese items here as well so keep that in mind. My ONLY complaint is that occasionally my drink is made with regular cow's milk rather than the oatmilk I specify, which gives me the runs ALL FREAKING DAY. I think it's one gal that doesn't pay attention. The only way to ensure it doesn't happen would be to order in person and watch them make it. Started trying them out again and things have very obviously changed. First off, the quality of the donuts has noticeabley degraded. What used to be soft and fluffy donuts are now hard and dry, similar in texture to stale white bread. I recently tried some of the crueller donuts and it was literally the worst donut I've ever had. I ended up throwing the the other two away because they were practically inedible. The service and professionalism has also taken a hit. 70% of the time the employees are in regular street clothes with no DD branding which is a bit odd. I'm talking sweatpants and a hoodie, tank top and jeans, etc. On top of that, they seem to be "hiding" in the back most of the time just talking. I usually have to get their attention and even then they seem hesitant to come help. Used to love this place but the obvious change of ownership has really taken it's toll.
