Super flavorful soul food with friendly and attentive service! My fried catfish was so crispy and tasty! The greens on the side was delicious as well!

I'm disappointed. I've wanted to try this restaurant out based on the high reviews, but sadly, it was a disappointment. We went for a late dinner at 8 p.m. The restaurant was basically empty, with only one table being served, which we probably should have taken as a sign. We sat down, and the waiter, who was nice and friendly, handed us the menu. This is when things started to go wrong... After giving some time to look over the menu we called the waiter over. Everything my date wanted was no longer available. Crispy turkey meatloaf... not available Oxtail tacos... not available Plantain callalloo tacos... not available. Um, what? What is available, sir? And why didn't you inform us that half of your menu wasn't available when we sat down? Oh, and they also ran out of soda; they only had wine available. We ended up ordering the following: Fried Green Tomatoes Catfish on cheesy grits BBQ fried chicken with gries We thought well at least the food would be good right? Wrong. The fried green tomatoes had a HAIR on them. At this point, I couldn't help but laugh at how bad this experience was. I called the waiter who was very apologetic and said he wouldn't charge us for it and put in a new order. We got a fresh order but it just wasn't good. Tasted like breaded tomatoes with no seasoning. Catfish and cheesy grits. The fish tasted off not fresh. I was so hungry that I forced myself to eat it. Again no flavor. The cheesy grits were ok. BBQ fried chicken. My date had this basically fried chicken with a drizzle of BBQ sauce. Again nothing special lacking in flavor. The gries which were grits in fries form he actually did like. I don't know if we came on a bad day. But this experience was so bad that we will never come back.

So great to find gluten free mac + cheese! And a warm friendly environment. This is the kind of neighborhood place I'm looking for. Chef Alisa personally greets us and has so much talent. Don't miss this award-winning chef's magic! Got to go back for my second visit today and loved the oyster mushroom special. Photos included here are the fries made from grits (my new favorite kind of fries! Move over sweet potato fries!) and the turkey meat loaf sandwich.

There's a small parking lot next to the restaurant. The service team are great but it can get busy and a little loud. The food was so comforting. All the meat is cooked to perfection so it's soft and juicy. Personally, I loved the meatloaf sandwich the best. The patty is delicious with some crunchy bits inside. The cornbread is on the smaller size and came out hot and fresh. They may run out of some things. For example, we got mac n cheese soul spring rolls since they didn't have their regular mac n cheese. The soul spring rolls were delicious and it came with a salsa. My group agreed we need to come back to try more because we were stuffed at the end of dinner.

The food was fresh delicious and extra tasty. I had the Chicken salad and I may sound plain, but far from it. Chicken pieces with a crispy, not greasy crust, a drizzle of bar b que over each piece, not soaked in sauce, perfect. There were these soft on the inside hard on the outside, croutons, but never have I had such a flavor. The greens were fresh, and the salad dressing was an Asian flavor. Wanted to lick the plate. My partner had the Waygu burger with caramelized onions and Gouda cheese. There was green salad on the side . Excellent. Our waiter was polite and cool all in one package. It's not a fancy place but clean and happy people. We found out later just how nice they were as our truck wouldn't start and the owner/cool came out and gave us a slice of lemon pound cake while we waited for AAA. Bonus. Definitely a beautiful vibe going back to eat the menu!!!

Been wanting to try this spot for the longest and so happy i finally did!! We had friends in town and it was mandatory to find a delicious spot that was gluten-free friendly. From the fried chicken to the fried catfish to the oxtail tacos to alllll of the sides, everything we had was a hit. I was so impressed with the menu and how hard it was to decide what to get because everything looked so good and tasted even better. It's a really cute spot, service was great, and overall great vibes. Can't wait to be back!

I am so glad I found this gem! It's a cute restaurant with plenty of street parking. It's black owned and has a lot of cultural design in the restaurant. It's very hip and casual. Our waitress was AMAZING! She made great recommendations and was very helpful with our questions! The food was PHENOMENAL! I ordered the domestic channel catfish with cheesy grits (pictured) and it was DELICIOUS! The catfish was fried and seasoned to perfection, and the sweet, cheesy corn gave a nice balance to the dish! I ate one of my friend's Mac n Cheese soul spring rolls, which was delectable! The food is amazing, the service is splendid, and I'll definitely be back!

This bread looked so good but it was disappointing super dry and crumbly and it was $8

Service was friendly 5 stars for service The menu and food is just ok. The oxtail tacos were tasty but there was something missing on the plate to make it a meal. Ordered a few small plates to make it feel like more of a meal but Spent 111.00 (pre tip) for three people with no drinks and left hungry. The cake was $8.00 and it was so dry and crumbly.

I used to come here when it first opened and I'm glad to say that the quality of food is still the same. Really tasty southern style food. There's a number of gluten free options and also vegan offerings which made me happy. I had been craving oxtail so the oxtail tacos were perfect- juicy, tender and loaded with onions and kale so I got my veggies as well. My friends liked their shrimp and grits and also the fried green tomatoes with the remoulade. The food was amazing, and the service was great as well. It's off of Pico and there's small parking lot but there's plenty of street parking as well. The desserts looked amazing but we were pretty full with our meal so we'll have to come back!

The service was so great and made me feel like I was at my family business. The music and vibe was also really good. I can't believe I haven't yet been here. The setup felt so embracing of Black culture and history from the decor to the food. The shrimp and grits was so good. I'm craving it just thinking about it. They did have plaza free parking but it was shared and limited so street metered did the job The dessert I had was strawberry cake and it was okay and not as I anticipated but sure if I had asked they would've happily replaced. The lemonade and tea was addicting and so good! Can't wait to go back and try out more.

4++ great soul food spot near the Fairfax / Mid City area. Has a warm, family/ home style cafe vibe to it. The folks here were very friendly. It's order at the counter style and they bring out the food. So the presentation is beautiful and it still has a fast casual feel to it. This place has been on my go to list for a while now. Finally got to go with couple of friends. I ordered the fried catfish with the cheesy grits as a side. The grits were delicious and had a nice firm texture to them. The fish was fried perfectly with flakey bites and crisp outside. I got to try some my friends shrimp and grits and oxtail taco. Both very good. Definitely a great spot that I would love to return to and try some of the other stuff on their menu. There are a lot of desserts there that I would like to try as well. I was kind of full and we were kind of a rush to get somewhere so I didn't end up getting any dessert this last trip. But they are behind the glass at the ordering counter and they all look wonderful. Especially that German chocolate cake.

I thought I would surprise my wife with dinner at My 2 Cents. I follow Chef Alisa on her Hulu Show " Searching For Soul Food". Turns out that I had taken her here before. Chef Alisa throws down! This place must be Heaven Sent‼ The food is awesome!! The shrimp and grits is literally the best thing I have ever tasted! I'm not a big Grits person but I am when it comes to their dish. It melts in your mouth. Creamy Grits that I'm guessing is cooked in Broth⁉ It definitely has the essence of Soul Food Kuz it warmed my heart. I could eat that every day. The Honey Truffle Wings were bomb too. A perfect add on or appetizer. Perfect balance of Truffle to Honey combo. The Jamaican Jerk Shrimp Tacos were very good too. It had all the Jerk flavor with a little heat. The only thing that could have made it better is a homemade tortilla. Still tho‼ The side of Black Eye Peas were It reminds me of my Grandmothers stews and soups. The 3 Young Brothers who served us were excellent. They provided the details we needed to help us choose the right dishes. This place will be a forever go to any time we are in LA

    Is there are Parking structure?

No parking is on the street or in the very small parking lot which is usually busy. The food is great and worth the parking issues.

The Bloody Mary was the first thing to blow my mind. It was absolutely delicious and maybe my new favorite Bloody Mary in LA. It made me wish I'd Ubered. But I also had some wonderful hot, Earl Grey tea. I love how they present it to the table. We covered a lot of ground and no notes. We had the caviar with crème fraîche and truffle kettle chips, a seafood platter that , the fried green tomatoes - which I will order every time I'm there, and the Dungeness crab and rock shrimp Benedict. The dining room itself is beautiful--comfortable, stylish, and inviting. When you look around the room there, it feels like every table in there is celebrating something. In a city overflowing with brunch options, it's surprisingly rare to find a place where the food, service, atmosphere, and pacing all work together so seamlessly. It was one of those meals that reminds you why dining out can still feel special.

The restaurant is located at the Beverly Center and does not validate parking. The good news is that parking is relatively affordable at $1 per hour. Since I don't eat meat or chicken, I checked the menu online beforehand and found several options that looked appealing. Unfortunately, once we were seated, we were given a completely different menu. When I asked about it, our server, Lindsey, explained that the menu I had seen online isn't available until after 3 p.m. That was disappointing since I had already planned my meal. We started with the biscuits. They had a strong smoky flavor that honestly made me think they were baked with pork fat or in an oven used for barbecue. Lindsey assured me they weren't made with any meat fats, but the smoky flavor was definitely noticeable. I ordered the salmon with microgreens and a side of mac and cheese. My partner ordered the steak and eggs with hash browns, and we both enjoyed the mint mocktails--they were refreshing and one of the highlights of the meal. The salmon was cooked well and I enjoyed it. The mac and cheese, however, was a huge letdown. It arrived in a cute little cast-iron skillet on a butcher block, so the presentation was great, but the taste didn't match the appearance. It reminded me of boxed mac and cheese made with powdered cheese, topped with Parmesan just to create a crust. It was runny, lacked richness, and there wasn't even a hint of that satisfying cheese pull. Unfortunately, there were service issues as well. My partner specifically ordered his eggs over hard, but they weren't prepared that way. His hash browns never arrived at the table, and on the drive home he realized we had been charged for them. He intended to mention it before leaving but simply forgot. The biggest positive is the restaurant itself. It's beautiful, stylish, and has a great ambiance. Beyond that, though, I found the food to be average for the price. Even by Los Angeles standards, $42 for chicken and waffles feels excessive. Overall, Yardbird looks better than it tastes. While there were a few bright spots, the inconsistent service, menu confusion, and underwhelming food don't justify the price. Unfortunately, I don't see myself returning.

She told me this branch was started by the same folks of the original in New Orleans. Due to a an issue with the freeway closure and horrible traffic, we were very late and she kindly honored our reservation. The food was fantastic. Great crunchy and spice on the chicken (it is on the spicy side so be careful if you cannot handle the heat). The little corn breads were just the right amount. We tried the yams, which is a must, but also shared some of the other sides. The cabbage is cooked kind of like collard greens. The butter beans and rice is very tasty. We also tried the mashed potatoes and gravy. All sides are vegan, which I thought was done for the local L.A. crowd, but we were told the sides are vegan in the original recipes.
