COMBO FRIED RICE WITH LOCO MOCO!
    Kevin I.

I haven't been here for 21 years... Went back this morning for spam and eggs and it felt like I ate here yesterday.. Unfortunately, I learned the original owner Mary passed away 10 years ago, so pleasant to know the food quality and ambiance hasn't changed a bit! If you're into Hawaiian/Asian/American fusion incorporated in an Old School coffee shop, you will love Tak's!

One of my fav places for breakfast. The best service and the best wings. It always feels like home here.

I know of this place nearby but never really went until know. Parking is ample in front and back. The restaurant is small but I went on Saturday at 11:45am and there were plenty of seats. Loco moco: I ordered a loco moco for $15. I think the price was very affordable. 5/5 Denver omlette: The omelette was also $15 with rice. 5/5. The 2 strips of bacon and orange juice were $5-6 each and I think that is expensive. Service was quick. And I have nothing to complain about. There is a $1 charge if paid with debit or credit though. Overall I would come back to this restaurant.

The food is great, especially for the price. Food came out fast and hot. The service we received felt like as if we were regulars. Even the true regulars that come in talk like they are good friends, which they might even be. The atmosphere of the place gives family owned and managed. Great for parties of 5 or less because it is not very big. I will definitely come back here again

This place has been in the community for a long time. But it's my first time there and we got our order to go of chicken wings and waffles Because they were about to close but the owner and the staff was pleasant and friendly, It's a nice little cozy breakfast spot

¥¥¥ 2026 review #6 ¥¥¥…read more When I found out Vesti is doing an 8-month residency (until January 31st 2027) at The Maydan Market, I immediately booked 2 seats for their Eating Menu. Yup! You read it currently. Not a mini bites tasting menu that still leaves you hungry after messes. It's a generously portioned full size EATING MENU fit for true foodies!!! An AYCE for 2 hours at Vesti's counter, Chef prepared, right in front of your eyes. Like an Omakase but a million times better, with imported, high quality ingredients and you can even ask for seconds if you really really love any course. Trust me, you will be FULLY stuffed! We started out with Vesti Zippy Dill And Vinegar Chips with Pecorino Mascarpone Caramelized Onion Dip ($12) that in itself is a yummy starter. Highly recommend to add a 12g Tin. ($45) Aqua Best Ossetra Caviar! #iykyk Next, we had the most delicate and superbly balanced Ōra King Salmon w/ cucumber granita, trout roe & pickles. Mmmmm.... I was tempted to ask for servings but needed to pace myself. Bite after bite, we were wow'ed by each and every dish preparation. I got to chat and talk FOOD with Chef Adam and Chef Shane as well as Jorge and Tony -- honestly that was the highlight of the whole Eating Menu experience. The courses kept coming, as soon as we finish one dish, another one pops up! Delicious Nduja sausage in toasted homemade focaccia, super crispy vodka beer-battered wings, Nduja croquettes & Nona's Balls, to-die-for Zoe's crispy fried mortadella sandwich, made-to-order artisan pizza... we were so stuffed! But there's always room for dessert, especially when it's Vesti's Whiskey Caramel Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding!!! Served warm with fresh whip cream.m ^_^ pure heavenly bliss! The menu always changes, even between seatings on the same evening. We can't wait to go back for more Eating Menu! Run, don't walk! Maydan Market at: 4301 W Jefferson Blvd -- Los Angeles Vesti's Eating Menu pop-up at Maydan Market only until Jan. 31, 2027 -- seatings at 4pm * 6pm * 8pm on Tuesday through Saturday *reservations required. Highly recommend booking ASAP 'coz seats are going fast, especially on weekends: eatvesti.com/maydan-market SYOY & at Vesti residency at Maydan Market!

About a 10 min drive from Exposition Park/USC. Parking could be challenging given it's off a residential area -- so you could save some headache and adventure over via Metro! This was the first time I visited a food hall, where I could seat myself and utilize one single QR code to order from various menus, and have it served directly to me! Loved it! Since our boss was treating, there is a feature that they can share the tab link with others, and you can order whatever you'd like from your own phone as opposed to passing your phone around or having a point person order from their phone. I believe they will accommodate normal table side order placement if needed, which is appreciated for people who are not tech savvy or maybe they just don't wanna deal with it lol I thought the menus had very unique offerings and it wasn't too overwhelming with a ton out of choice (shout out to my indecisive people). I ended up ordering from their southeast Asian restaurant-- thoroughly enjoying my two piece Thai fried chicken set, which includes a small plate of pickled greens and going with the French fries and curry sauce on the side. Incredible flavor and value! My colleagues opted for more traditional, Mexican fare, enjoying guacamole, corn, tamales, and sea bass tacos dorados. We all had iced teas! I didn't want my fried chicken to go to waste and appreciated having the ability to box my own food up (containers, located near the silverware and napkins station). I did have to go to one of the food stamps to ask for A to go ramekin because I needed to take the curry sauce!! All in all super cool spot cannot wait to try other things and go back. There's so many different vibes from traditional dining room seating to an outdoor patio with comfy benches. Can't wait to come back for that Lebanese breakfast!!!!!!!!

My husband and I often find ourselves at odds when it comes to dining out, as our tastes don't always align. However, when it comes to Toochie's, we're in complete agreement: they serve the best burger we've ever had. The secret lies in the careful preparation and meticulous smoking process, which elevates the flavor to new heights. Each bite reflects the love and dedication put into their craft, creating a harmony of taste that is genuinely hard to beat. What's more, Toochie's Kitchen has managed to earn a special place in our culinary hearts, something we fondly refer to as a "hood Michelin star" in our household. This accolade is well-deserved, as they consistently deliver on quality, flavor, and hospitality. Whether you're a burger connoisseur or just someone who appreciates a good meal, Toochie's Kitchen is a must-visit destination. They've managed to bring my husband and me together over food in a way few other places have, and for that, they have our wholehearted recommendation. We haven't visited the store yet but we did do the stand a year ago and then tonight we uber eats it. We have been thinking about and following this place for so long. We originally weren't planning to eat here since we had other places to check out but my friends already had a table so we came by to say hi. They tried the food but I didn't so I will skip that part here. Service unfortunately felt very awkward and weird. This takes away from the ambiance in my opinion. We did consider ordering something like dessert (but weren't too keen on the menu) in the short time we were there as a courtesy but it felt very forced and in hindsight would have taken too much time. It just didn't feel warm or friendly at all. Same vibes from hotel staff too (it's inside the Garden Suite Hotel which makes parking slightly easier compared to the rest of the area). We may still return to book an event but to be completely honest I'm not personally inclined to visit again after this experience.

My first night/ visit: I came on a casual evening and sat at the bar. I ordered a variety of empanadas and a glass of Malbec. Finished with the chocolate banana dessert. The food was just as memorable. The chicken Parmesan was everything you want it to be: crispy, flavorful, and topped with a rich, perfectly balanced marinara and plenty of melted cheese. One thing to know before you go: parking can be a nightmare. There is valet in front, or you can opt for parking in the surrounding neighborhood. You're better off grabbing a rideshare if you can. It makes the experience much easier, especially if you plan on enjoying a few drinks. Between the beautiful ambiance, generous portions, and delicious food, this is an easy recommendation. We'll definitely be back.

Last night, four of us got together for dinner at Met Him At A Bar for Dine LA. We originally…read morewanted to try another restaurant, but it was completely booked, so we looked for somewhere new to explore. Met Him At A Bar seemed like a good option, and one of my girlfriends made a reservation for four. Our reservation was at 7:00 PM. I street-parked and walked to the restaurant, where one of my friends was waiting outside. I asked why she wasn't sitting at our table, and she told me that our table was right by the entrance. She didn't like that spot and thought the tables farther inside looked much more comfortable and cozy. Since people were sitting at one of those tables, she wanted to wait until they left. Personally, I thought the table by the entrance was perfectly fine, but I was also STARVING! Another friend arrived and also disliked the table, so we decided to wait. After a while, I was getting way too hungry, so we sat at the bar and ordered an appetizer and drinks while waiting. I first ordered the Garlic Shrimp and asked if it was spicy. I was told it was, so I asked if they could make it without the spice because I can't eat spicy food. He said he would check with the kitchen, but since I was starving and it sounded like it might take too long, I changed my order to Garlic Bread. One of my girlfriends ordered a glass of wine, and since she had made the reservation and gone through the trouble of arranging everything, I treated her to the wine and garlic bread. Then, of course, our friend who is ALWAYS late arrived about 30 minutes late! By then, the rest of us had already decided what to order from the Dine LA menu. We wanted to try as many dishes as possible, so we ordered different items and shared everything. When our late friend arrived, we ordered his dishes separately. For the first course, we had Caesar Salad, Bruschetta, and Meatballs. For the second course, we ordered Rigatoni Vodka, Cacio e Pepe, and Margherita Pizza. For dessert, everyone ordered Tiramisu. Overall, I thought the food was good. My favorites were the Bruschetta, Meatballs, Rigatoni Vodka, and Tiramisu. The Cacio e Pepe was not my favorite because I thought they used way too much black pepper, and my other friends agreed. Our group had mixed reactions overall. Except for one person, the other two felt the food didn't quite live up to their expectations and were somewhat disappointed. But everyone's taste is different, so I completely understand. Considering how expensive everything has become these days, I thought the Dine LA price was pretty reasonable. It was $45 per person, and with tax and tip, it came to $60 each. For that price, I thought the amount of food and the overall experience were pretty good. I also really appreciated how friendly and attentive all the staff members were. I usually don't drink alcohol, and especially when I'm driving, I NEVER drink--not even a sip. That has been my personal rule for decades. So I just ordered water, and I loved how the staff kept coming by and refilling my glass whenever it got low. I drink a LOT of water, so I really appreciated their attentiveness. Now, about parking: valet parking is $17. I decided to street-park instead. One of my friends also street-parked, but unfortunately she got a parking ticket and was VERY upset. I had originally found a spot where a sign said a parking permit was required, so I decided not to take the risk and moved my car. Before leaving, I asked a man walking his dog if it was okay to park there. He said he had seen many cars parked there and they had been fine, but I still didn't trust it because the sign clearly said permits were required. I told him, "I don't think that's allowed." He was very nice and suggested going about three blocks farther, where there was plenty of street parking without a permit. I followed his advice and parked there. Unfortunately, my friend who stayed in the permit-only spot ended up getting a ticket. Another friend parked in the parking structure across the street and said it cost $18. Since I had parked farther away and didn't want to walk alone at night, I asked him to drop me off at my car after dinner, and he kindly did. So my parking recommendation is to use the $17 valet or street-park about three blocks away where no permit is required. I definitely would NOT recommend parking in the permit-only spaces unless you want to risk getting a ticket. One of the funniest things about this neighborhood is the restaurant names. The restaurant we went to is called "Met Him At A Bar," and literally right across the street is "Met Her At A Bar." There's also another restaurant called "The Night We Met." I have to say, the names are pretty creative and definitely make this neighborhood more fun! Overall, we had a fun evening together, and for $60 per person including tax and tip, I thought it was a pretty decent Dine LA experience.
