I'm not one to complain and leave negative reviews on businesses especially family-owned businesses but I am BEYOND disappointed how terrible My Bakery has become. I've been coming here for all birthday/event cakes +10 years and have received nothing short of outstanding service. Just last month, I returned to order a custom tres leches sheet cake for a work event as my team loves when I bring cakes from here. When I went to place an order, a new lady who I haven't seen before took my order. My order total came out to more than it typically does but that is NOT the issue. Prices go up especially in today's economy & I don't mind pay the price for these great quality cakes. They were able to fulfill my request and the decorations on the cake were amazing. The issue started when I brought the cake to work and one of my colleagues cut into it. The tres leches cake had little to NO milk in it; dry as a regular sponge cake . We all figured maybe it was just that one corner piece but no. Half the sheet of my cake was dry despite it being a Tres Leches cake. I immediately got on the phone and called the bakery to get some answers. The only responses I got from the woman on the phone were the following "That's unusual. You probably ordered it wrong. We don't make half Tres Leches/half sponge cake sheet cakes" followed by backtracking and stating that I probably "didn't order the cake with extra leche". She was rude, dismissive & condescending. And I thought to myself "How can I order a cake wrong when all I did was order a tres leches sheet cake with floral icing decor and a phrase spelled in icing? Nothing new that deviates from my standard orders here." FIRST OF ALL, never in the past 10 years of experience ordering with My Bakery have I had to "pay extra" for my Tres Leches cake to come with the standard amount of Tres Leches mixture nor was it mentioned upon initial ordering (otherwise I would've paid more). All my tres leches cakes thus far have contained great moisture from the tres leches filling without having to pay extra. She proceed to say "Well we'll make sure to let the manager know in the future and we'll have them reach out to you". A month later and I haven't been able to get a hold of the manager. I'm not sure if My Bakery is under sudden new management but it's a massive shame what it has become. The lady who took my order was kinda rude and I wouldn't be surprised if she's the one who answered the phone. If this is how future orders will be processed & presented then I feel bad for the business. They should at least be a bit more transparent to their consumers or accept that fact that they got your order wrong rather than gaslighting you for "not paying extra" when that's not the case at all. Like it's embarrassing to bring a cake to work that everyone was anticipating, only for it to disappoint. After a couple years of taking a break from My Bakery due to their lack of customer service we decided to come back and give it another try. We ordered a tres leches cake and it was DRY, little to no milk. Majority of the cake had no milk, which is very surprising considering a tres leches cake should be rich and moist. Extremely rude! I purchased only 5 breads and $4 worth of bolillos and they charged me $16. When I went back to ask how much was the price of the bread they were extremely rude. I was never demanding or pushy but regardless I wanted to know why my total came up to be so much. They finally decided to redo the math and realized that they had over charged me. I was being patient and understanding but after multiple times of requesting them to give me back the difference they finally did. This is the last time that I come to this Bakery. I've been coming here for almost 30 years. This place has definitely changed but for the worse. The service that was given to me was horrible. I bought a cake for my baby's baptism and gave a down deposit. I asked beforehand if I needed to pay the cake off before the event or finish paying it the day of. I was told the day of the event was okay to pay the rest. I did this ahead of time and the day before my event, I get a call at 6am that if I don't pay the rest of the cake they will cancel my order and not do it. Went to order a princess cake for my daughter's birthday, ask for a specific flavor that I've order there before they said they didn't make that flavor and I told the lady I've order it before here she replied oh we don't make it in that size. Then I was going leave 40$ deposit because that's all I had and it's cash only there. I went to purchase sweets and witnessed an incident between REYNA and another senior customer. The customer asked for a type of Salvadoran or Guatemalan bread, Idk but Reyna rudely scoffed and replied "wrong bakery!", almost as if the customer had offended her. Is there a bakery gang that we aren't aware of lol. Its just bread Reyna, a simple yes or no wouldn't been a more appropriate response. Other customers kinda looked at each other when Reyna said this to the older woman and the environment got so uncomfortable. Okay everyone this is my opinion!!! My Bakery has the best tres leches cake in the SFV. This is where I go, to get my birthday cakes. I actually stopped by yesterday just to pick up a cake because I was craving it and I should have gotten a bigger size because it was gone by the end of the day. Me and my family enjoyed every single bite. The cake is very moist and it's not too sweet or not too bland. It's perfect in flavor. What makes the whole thing enjoyable to indulge are the fresh fruit in the cake! The strawberries in it are so fresh that every bite was sweet and crunchy; unlike other bakeries who serve the strawberries are soggy and old. My family has been buying cakes here for 30+ years and the cakes never disappoint. Service is always fast & friendly. One of the best tres leches in town. Reasonable prices too, and can usually get a special order cake from 1-2 days notice. So accommodating. My last cake orders have all disappointed, from getting my cake wrong to finding egg shell and plastic with in the cakes. When brought up to the attention the owner is never present. Do not order cakes from My Bakery. They did not fill my order. I went in and placed a cake order one week before my event and paid for. Day of event it was not there. The day of the birthday they called me to tell me they lost the paper, that I guess had the information for the cake. I called the woman back and she had no idea what I was talking about nor could find the name of the order. right then and there I knew something was wrong, she put me on hold for 8 mins and then said she found it. when I say I am beyond disappointed with the bakery, it's an understatement!! they took the picture I brought in for reference and printed it to the CAKE! it was nothing we wanted!! they basically said we told you we were going to print this to the cake , which isn't true.None of the colors or anything WE discussed was done!! they charged me $15 extra dollars for the theme/design we didn't get!!!They took no accountability, didn't offer a discount basically said , o well it is what it is!! If you couldn't do the design, you should've said something from the get, instead you're ripping people off , and doing whatever you feel like. The cake I got was written on horribly, I asked for it to say "happy birthday Geo" and I got "feliz cumpleaños Geo" which is fine if the words were actually readable, but its not what I wanted. Not only that was wrong, I also bought bread, the girl dropped the bread she had in the tray and didn't ask me what I wanted she just boxed it, I got home and noticed that she missed half of the bread I had originally asked for. Whenever I order a half sheet or full sheet cake they are incredibly rude, if I just go in for a slice or some pastries they are fine and pretty polite but when it's an order that's where it happens. I placed an order for a Quinceañera cake that arrived with one of the cake separators and dowels cracked we let them know, they said it would be fine and they'd give us our deposit because it arrived to us cracked. When we go to return the items they refuse to give us our deposit back BECAUSE ITS CRACKED despite it being given to us in this condition. The food is great. I want to come on here and say how terrible the work is here, my family used to buy cakes here for EVERY occasion, I trusted it cause the work used to be so good, the cake was delicious (BEFORE) like 5 years ago. I ordered a cake in advanced (2 tier) just plain blue. I had my sil pick it up because I was super tight on time. As soon as I saw it in person I freaked out. It was terribly made, there was holes in every part of the buttercream, it was breaking. I was upset and went back in just for the lady up front to tell me that that's how buttercream looks. Holes everywhere looking like typophobia all over the cake, it was horrendous. Not to mention the cake was over 200 something $. Expensive cake, ugly work for the most simple thing ever, I didn't ask for anything on the cake cause I was scared they'd mess it up and they still managed to do just that. My boyfriend and friend were trying their best to be patient with them but it seems like they were getting bad service. When I sent the receipt to my boyfriend to show the employee apparently they STILL couldn't find the cake. My bakery should be able to locate their orders just by a simple name and confirmation of flavors..... Example : "I have an order for Lilly ." "Okay can you confirm the order with me" "Yes, an order for Lilly. three cakes one tres leches, one mocha, one red velvet." !!!!!DO NOT!!! COME HERE!!!!!!! If I could put ZERO stars I most definitely would!! My entire family has been coming to this bakery for years but after my recent experience we will NEVER be coming here any longer! My mom and I went into the bakery to place an order a week before my son's birthday but unfortunately we had to postpone his party and we made sure to call to let them know in advance. His postponed birthday party comes around and I had called the day BEFORE his party to confirm that they had my order which they said they did!! They gave me a pick up time as well which was 12pm. The day of my son's party I go in at 12:30pm, I give them the name of the order the phone number and the writing that it was supposed to have on it then proceeded to tell me that was not enough information and couldn't find my cake for about an hour!!! Mind you I CALLED THE DAY BEFORE THEY SAID THEY HAD MY ORDER!!! I was missing my son's birthday party because they "couldn't find my cake" for an hour and then all of a sudden "it pops up" and I watched as they spray painted the cake really quickly and just gave it to me it was HALF ASSED!!! No effort into the cake whatsoever! Also, while they were trying to find my cake they were also having other issues with another lady's cake! I guess it was the manager or the lady in charge that was there; I asked her for a discount for wasting my time when they told me 12pm pick up and for it having cracked buttercream, rushed service, and the spray paint was dripping, and the colors were overlaying when it shouldn't have, ALSO you can still see the white of the frosting and she straight out started giving me attitude and was telling me "they don't do discounts" so I had told her my concerns and she could ONLY give $4 off!!! I told her it wasn't enough they were looking for my cake for AN HOUR!!! I had asked for at least $10 off my order for the HUGE inconvenience they were bringing to me and the lady that was "helping" me was EXTREMELY RUDE! She had said she couldn't give me the $10 off the cake that was rushly made and it wasn't even the right flavor! Finally she said $5 off and I just ended up taking it because I wasn't gonna waste my time going back and forth with a badly serviced manager and miss more of my son's birthday, but I had made sure that I would be stopping by for the rest of my money! Literally the best whipped cream I've ever tasted on a cake, ever!! That paired with fresh bananas and almonds is an unbelievable combination. My go-to place for big or small cakes for all occasions!
