BE CAREFUL... This Stanton Optical is only worth visiting if you live nearby, know how to handle upselling, and have the patience to deal with inconsistent service. On a good day, you'll be fine. On a bad day, it's just exhausting. In short, it's convenient, sometimes cheap, but wildly unprofessional. Don't expect consistency and don't expect great customer service every time. Why I Even Come Here I come to this Stanton Optical only because it's right next to my house and my local Starbucks. Convenience is really the only reason I've returned over the years. It can be cheaper if you know how to handle them, and I've figured out how to avoid the upselling. But for most people, it's not an easy place to deal with. Be Prepared for Upselling You have to be assertive and firm here. The staff often try to upsell services or add-ons, and unless you're a dominant personality who knows how to push back, you'll end up paying more than you intended. At one point, I even had to tell a rep to start writing prices down on paper because she kept changing numbers mid-conversation to upsell me. That's not professional. Customer Service is Extremely Inconsistent This location is very hit or miss, more miss than hit. Some days, you walk in and someone helps you quickly. Other days, you're ignored or treated like an inconvenience. One particular visit about three years ago, a woman kept robotically repeating deals over and over. When I politely said I wasn't interested and just wanted my exam, she interrupted with "Can I finish?" I walked out. Her attitude cost them a sale that day. Recent Visit: Poor Professionalism My most recent experience finally pushed me to write this review. I walked in, the place was empty, and the only person working seemed to be deep in personal conversation with another woman. It wasn't business-related; they were chatting like old friends. I waited five to ten minutes, then politely said, "Excuse me, we're looking for some help." She replied, "Give me a minute." We gave her another minute. She kept talking. After waiting again, I said we'd come back another time, and she replied that they were almost done. That's not how you treat customers. My first visit was Davie and my second visit was Pembroke Pines. They use the same doctor for both locations. He is very old and very slow. He only goes in one day a week. This is a Review for both locations: The doctor that does the eye exams is a really Older man. I would say over 80+ so he is very slow so if your appointment is at 9am you won't be seen until like 10:15 and won't be done until like 1130. So if you go you should plan to be there like 3 hours. I hate to say this but he needs to retire. Don't get me wrong he's through, but not many people have 3 hours to waste on an eye exam that should only take one hour at the most. Also don't be fooled by the 2 frames for $49 promotions on the window (the frames included in the promotion are so ugly) I ended up just paying like $55 for my eye exams. Fast forward 6 months later I had symptoms of an eye infection and called to see if the doctor did office appointment to see if I had an eye infection and to get prescribed eye drops or ointment. They said yes you can make an appointment so I went in and again I was there 2 plus hours I was so annoyed when I left because instead of checking out my eye for infection he preformed another eye exam. I said "are you giving me an eye exam?" He said @ as opposed to what?" I said "my appointment was for "an office visit for a possible eye infection." He said that he didn't think it was infected and he thinks that my eyes are getting dry because of air conditioner or fan. He said iif you had infection the eye would be crusty so He did not prescribe me any medicine for my eye. I was upset because they were crusty at night. But of course I cleared it before leaving the house. Bottom line I would not return. It was a waste of my time he only performed another eye exams so I had to pay another $50.00 for nothing. The receptionist at the Davie location Lorena was the nicest person there. The Pembroke Pines location employees were as friendly. I would not go back here. read more

I wish I could give them no stars!!!!. Bait and switch tactic all the way. Do not go here. First of all, I made an appt and when I got to the store there was only 1 worker for the 5 people that were in the store. I was there to get glasses and told the salesperson that I wanted them the same as my glasses, one eye for distance and one eye for reading. I was then sent to wait in a back room for someone to start my eye exam. I could hear the associate in the back on the phone, talking in spanish to someone and it sounded personal. Finally, the 1st salesperson came back to start the exam and then the associate in the back showed up. I then had to wait for a virtual doctor to start my exam. After that, I had to wait until the doctor uploaded the results. I then was told that glasses do not work the same way as contact lenses and that I would need to have one pair for distance and another pair for reading. I was then told that the lens that I needed would be too thick for the regular plastic lens, so I would have to pay an additional $50 for the plexiglass or whatever they called it. I was so irate that I just wasted 2 hours of my time for glasses that I would not be able to wear. I finally left without my prescription, (which I would have to pay for). And the salesperson told me that I was being RUDE!!! read more

Worst experience I have EVER had with any medical provider. They didn't tell me the doctor was virtual only. They told me over the phone that they accept my insurance and then when I got here they told me I would have to submit for a reimbursement through my insurance because we are out of network and there is no way they can look up or verify my information. After waiting for almost an hour she came back and told us that the doctor wasn't calling her back so she wouldn't be able to do our appt. Ridiculous. This place is a joke. I have been waiting on a pair for over 5 weeks and all they say is it has been shipped. I called the store numerous time to only get I am sorry. No explanation of what's going on and all they say is it will be tomorrow. Tomorrow comes and goes and still no glasses Numerous tickets have been places and all they say they will call Call never comes About ready to call my credit card and dispute the charges. Had an appointment for 10:25 am, arrived to the store to see that they were out of power. There was a sign that said "currently closed due to power. Sorry for the inconvenience." Okay, fine. I understand that happens and it is out of anyone's control. However, the reaction I got from the manager- Robin- was unbelievable! I knock on the door to see if they could maybe take my name/phone number to let me know when the power is back on, or what I can do about my appointment. She opens the door, obviously bothered, I let her know I had an appointment and she cuts me off and rudely says- "you can just reschedule your appointment online." Not sure why they have the door locked- I'm sure there are other patients with appointments this morning who they can at least explain the situation to or try to help reschedule the missed appointment. The customer service at this location is incredible. I booked an appointment online, and had my eye tests done. I don't think I was there for much more than an hour. I ordered two pairs of glasses and received them within ten days. My last pair of glasses cost almost $1000 dollars. They were NOT designer frames, but they were progressive lens. At My Eyelab, the sales consultant read my test results and said "How is your distance vision? I see you requested progressive lens, but you really don't need them. It would be much less expensive to purchase reading glasses only." I received two pairs of prescription reading glasses plus the test, for less than $400. This alone has made me a customer for life. But then, somehow I snapped the frame on one of my new pairs. My Eyelab immediately popped my lens out and placed them in the matching display pair. No charge. No where on the site does it state that the doctor is virtual. They don't tell you during the appointment either. There is no choice given (at least not to me) if I want the doctor love ir virtual. The people in the front aren't very friendly neither is the person that runs the test and gets your history. The only thing this place has going for them is the price of the glasses and the selection. Never going back. read more

First time there, I had always gone to Lens Crafters. I decided to try Eyelab instead. Had an appointment to check my vision at 4:25. Left work little earlier in case of traffic. Arrived at about 4:15 completed the paperwork. At almost 5:00 I ask how much longer, and they answered "oh you have 3 patients ahead of you, he optometrist is running late". Asked for another appt of another day, the next appointment was for the 18th of October. That was 2 weeks away. The reason is because the optician only comes twice a week. Thanks.... I called the new Davie location to make an appointment for the first time and never again. I recently had lasik surgery and every year I only need to have my eyes dilated . I specified this several time through out my conversation with the rep. They told me the location closer to me did not have a doctor available however the one in Hollywood on state road 7 was available with a doctor and I agreed to an appointment. This morning when I went and explained myself again they said there was no doctor on site to complete the dilation they were only doing virtual visits. Very frustrating! Drove to the further location and waisted a Saturday morning for no reason. I wish they had better communication for this reason I give them 1 star. read more

Part 2 I was talked over while I repeatedly explained this this exam is for my eye glasses not contacts, I was not aware of this add on exam. Not single person listened to what I was saying, Next, one of them shouts across the entire floor to a lady whom seems to be the owner and asks the cost of the contact eye exam.... Not only could the "owner" not even walk across to talk to me instead she screams back across the room (with customers) that this was the cost of an eye exam and it comes with free eye drops and a carrying case. I once again explained I do not want contacts, I just purchased 3 pairs of glasses. In the most watered down way to explain what happened next, she yells back with a very disgusted facial expression and tone of voice "like what did you get just frames, how did you purchase frames without a prescription to begin with". At this point I'm humiliated and have to explain again, I'm a reoccurring patient with My EyeLabs.. you have my prescriptions. Everything I said was completely disregarded and was forced to pay more or else they hold my deposit on my glasses. The two other employees standing behind the desk proceeded to tell me the following "well you rushed towards the waiting section for the eye exam too quickly", "your prescription isn't the same as before its different", "that's not our fault it's yours" By this time I was bright red, shaking with anxiety and seconds away from bursting into tears, I felt taken advantage of, scammed and completely humiliated. I felt scared, I was internally panicking becauseI wasn't even sure I had enough in my bank account. They became to aggressively demanding that I swipe my card, I literally became trapped into paying for something I never wanted, let alone informed of charges before hand. Due to my nervousness, my hand was shaking and I couldn't even get the card inside the slot correctly, one of the employees grabbed my card, said I was doing it wrong and proceeded to swipe it herself. I still trying to process all of it. I've worked really hard on my social anxiety and for anyone who can relate, having this awful experience is like having our worst fear come true. I walked out in tears and called my mom to seek advice on this situation. I'm very shy and she knows I'm not confrontational, so she drove over to my Eyelab to help explain the misunderstanding and question the charges. The owner shouts to my mother, "The charges are written in front of the building on a poster in fine print". We checked the posters and NOTHING about this was written in fine print... so we ask if she could kindly show us where it says this, however she refused and said "I don't have to show you anything and I don't have to be nice to you" ...those are her exact words and plus some. By this time my mom and I are in complete disbeleif and I was refused a refund for the contact-lens exam. We both have worn glasses for most of our lives and never have we experienced this before. They completely manipulated the situation and who knows how many others. I'm born and raised in Cooper City and was very excited to see a new location open up nearby. However this place is the furthest thing from the kind places we are lucky to have in our community. read more

Made an appointment online and no where did they tell me it would be done online..there is no actual doctor in the office. You'd think they would mention that when making the appointment. At the store the first person to assist me was extremely rude! When asked about machines being used to check my eyes, he responded "if you ask me, I can tell you" Well I thought I just did! Moving on, the lady that helped me with finding glasses was the only nice one there and helpful. I wish I would have gotten her name. They didn't have much options for name brands. Everything else appeared a bit old, not in style or modern. I picked a pair and paid half of the required amount. Later that day I found a nicer pair in another place at a slightly lesser price. So I called My Eyelab to cancel - you get their customer service. Man speaking broken english would talk over me and claimed that he would give me my refund but needed to get the stores approval. He later said he can't get thru to the store because of course no one was answering and the store is not opened yet. I said it's 16 past 10 they should be opened by now, but if you could just give me the refund that is all I need. I want to make sure the order gets canceled. Then he said he couldn't give me the refund. When I asked him.. but I thought you just said you could - he became rude, talked over me and then just hung up on me just as I was saying I'm not understanding you.. When I realized he hung up I called again, this time I got a nice lady that was courteous and transferred me to the store so to make sure they would cancel my order. When finally speaking to someone at the store - this lady was extremely rude in giving me a refund. When she gave me the amount that I would be refunded, I was about to thank her when I heard her hang up. Not a thank you goodbye or anything! No work etiquette whatsoever! These people obviously hate their job - Go get new ones and none that require working with people because they have no people skills at all! Never again My eyelab! The workers are great, but the Ophthalmologist, are horrible. I get it, it's COVID and everything is virtual, but the Dr. was not listening when I kept telling her that I was still seeing blurry and dull. The result was a prescription for glasses and sunglasses that were too strong. Then I realized that they charge more if your prescription goes above a certain point. When I went back, they kept telling me that I had to wait the two weeks to get used to them, and I refused. I had them test the prescription on the new glasses again. The result was that the prescription was not what was provided in the initial exam. In fact, my vision had improved and the prescription should have been less (they owe me for the up charge in the prescription). They had me take the exam again and indeed they made a mistake according to the Office Manager. I finally got my new glasses, only to find out that they made me a pair of progressive computer glasses (blue filter) that I cannot use on a daily basis (I wear glasses everyday). I am now reduced to wearing my old glasses for the day-to-day normal wear. I can't even use the new Sunglasses I got from this place. I spent over $500 for both glasses, and now I am left with a pair of very expensive computer glasses. I don't even want to go back to this place to get it fixed, because they don't know what they are doing - Horrible! read more
