I have tried this place sooooo many times and unfortunately today was my last. I saw this restaurant on a "Mind My Business" episode, and today I saw the impact that show has had. Higher prices, smaller portions, and the food has a different taste. I ordered a two meat (pork ribs and beef links) combo that came with 2 pork ribs, one link sliced up, a side of Mac and cheese, and watered down beans, which cost me approx $25!!!!!! I was supposed to get the Texas toast but for whatever reason that was missing from my meal. I could NOT believe the price. I was literally shocked. That is just too much money for such little food. After hearing about this place on the radio (kjlh) my wife and I decided to order from here for our family Labor Day BBQ. I did order 2 days in advance because I assumed they would be busy (which they were). My wife went to pick the food up the day of our family BBQ and the food was ready, except we were missing 1 pound of Brisket but the owner quickly made sure they added it to my tray. My wife said she had a wonderful experience and the staff was "on it!". Non the less everyone at the house that day loved the BBQ ( & my family is picky about their BBQ). I ordered a full slab of Pork Ribs, 1pnd of rib tips, 2pnds Brisket, 20pcs of Chicken, 1.5pnd of beef and chicken links. I love this place. I ordered a combination plate with ribs and beef hotlinks. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and seasoned to perfection. I am definitely a fan of My Father's Barbecue. I ordered 2 sides, green & cabbage and mac & cheese. The greens and cabbage taste like the ones your grandma makes... soul food at its finest. I can't say enough about the Mac & Cheese, it was creamy, cheesy and oh so perfect. I loved every part of this meal. Meat - considering I ordered tips, there were pieces that were dry, but others were super juicy. Overall, I enjoyed the meat. Mac and cheese - delicious! I ate every bite (yes, it is not super saucy as others have mentioned, but I actually like them like this). Greens - they were okay. Nothing special. Corn bread - this was dry to my liking but tasted good. The brisket was great but the ribs were a little tough so if you're looking for a fall off the bone type rib...then this might not be it but the flavor was there. I'm not impressed. Pros: clean environment, no wait (weekday evening), decent customer service, tasty BBQ sauce. Cons: no combo options, no cornbread ("No one made any today." Really?!), dry mac and cheese, bland greens, tough ribs. I ordered the beef ribs as a test. If you can make beef ribs tender (Bludso's excels at this), you are skilled at making BBQ. Unfortunately, these beef ribs were nowhere near as tender as Bludso's. In fact, the meat was so tough and chewy, I had to use my teeth to tear and rip it from the bone like an animal! Bludso's beef ribs are so tender, you feel like it's falling off the bone the moment you take a bite. And is it my imagination, or are they more expensive than Bludso's?! I say this because Bludso's gives me two different meats for less money! Too bad this place doesn't have similar options to combine meats. Not sure I'll go back. I guess the emptiness of the business should have been a sign. There is always a line, no matter the time of day I go to Bludso's. If you complain about the price, just understand that ALL BBQ restaurants are expensive. You're paying for premium meat. Amazing Mac and Cheese like my mom makes, love the mixture of greens and cabbage, but it needed some more flavor. We had the honey cornbread and peach cobbler and it was delicious! The cornbread is a dessert in itself, it's a huge potion- but you're not gonna want to share it :) We (a group of 4) had the brisket chili (my favorite!!!), brisket, rib tips, and turkey leg meal. Ordered 2 dinner size plates for over $75. Received 4 ribs and 2 sides and 4 slices of brisket and 2 sides and they messed up my order. I ordered mac and cheese and green beans w/potatoes and received potato salad instead of my mac and cheese. The green beans were mostly juice and very little green beans with one potato chunk. For my other plate they were out of mash potatoes so I got the yams and greens&cabbage. The greens were good, but the yams had very little yams with mostly heavy syrup/ juice. Needless to say I was very disappointed. I tried to call them to let them know they messed up my order and they just put me on hold and never came back. Then I tried to message them and got no response. The food had a good taste and flavor but they messed up my order and skimped on the sides, but the price was way too high for the portion sizes. We arrived at 5pm, but waited until 5:55pm to receive our family meal. The owner said they ran out of chicken, so had to cook a fresh batch. My mother LOVES barbecue, she recently relocated to Torrance from Palmdale and there is only 1 barbecue place out there DICKIES. Let me tell you about my mama she's a older woman and she set in her ways when something NASTY she will let you know, when something is to salty,not enough seasoning she will let you know. So today I wanted her to try MY FATHER'S BARBECUE we went in. She was already being negative about the barbecue. The older lady at the cashier register helped her and was very patient with her because she didn't know what she wanted she ordered a loaded potato with brisket, and I ordered chili cheese fries with brisket.
