The worse place I even ate it. Took my Mother there for Mother's Day. The food was horrible, the Texas hamburger came with meat, a pinch of cheese and a bun. The meat was dry and no taste, I looked at it and it looked like old meat which is still sitting on my stomach with a price tag of $18.99. The bread was old and burnt. The chili had hair in it. We ordered the 3 meat platter and the ribs were NOT done, the brisket was dry and they only give you a little container of barbecue sauce and had a price of $45.99. My mom was so disappointed. No idea what their food is like but what I can say is DO NOT BUY A GIFT CARD HERE. I made that mistake and sent a $50.00 gift card via text message as a gift to one of the clerical employees where I work. It turned out my gift recipient did not have a smart phone. We decided that I would contact the business to see if I could have the gift "card" sent instead as an email attachment. I had to call about half a dozen times before anyone picked up. When I finally did get through, the line was full of static like I was on a CB call from halfway across the country. Apparently this is a chronic problem there as I was told, in almost as many words, that I would have to put up or shut up about this situation. Of course, I had to repeat my phone number four or five times over all this unbelievable noise before they got it right. Then it was time for their 18 digit (I'm not exaggerating) order ID number. However, before we even got to that, the person on the other end of the line lectured me about how I was just going to have to deal with all the noise, or come down to Carson (about 15 miles away) in person. At that point I said I wanted a refund instead and was told the manager would call me back which of course never happened. I was also told I could call back Sunday which I did and got voice mail again, just like half a dozen times previously. It looks like this business, like many, has adopted the "treat the customer like garbage" business plan which from my observation is usually not sustainable. read more

Last weekend we visited the Long Beach BBQ festival and came across this BBQ place that had a booth at the festival. So as a Yelper I started Yelping the business to see what their ratings is.... The food looked good so we were willing to give it a try. We got a 1/3 LB of ribs ($12.00) and I have to say that it was some of the meatiest ribs I have ever had in my whole life... After eating all the meat, there would be a tiny bone left....Unlike some other Ribs that mostly are bones and alittle of meat, this BBQ place was really worth to spend money at.... The meat itself was delicious... It had a dry rub and was soaked in tangy BBQ sauce... I really liked everything about the ribs. I doubt I would ever go to Carson to try this place again, but if I ever come across their BBQ stand in the next BBQ festival, I will surely spend a buck or two! read more

The BBQ and SAUCE are really flavorful here!! The service while ordering and picking up was great. Where this place falls short is the sides. While I can appreciate the "gourmet" feel of the sides like the red skin potato salad.. when it comes to BBQ, I just want what's familiar. I'm really looking for a place that has good BBQ with equally good sides. I always feel like I should make my own sides when I go to BBQ joints. I've been here a few times and will continue to support (it is good BBQ) but I never get too excited about the sides. I like the presentation! I took my Mom there today for Mother's Day and when I say it was the worse place I ever ate at. We had to wait 30 minutes before they sit us when they was not even crowd. The ribs where not cooked fuller, the bread tasted steel, we order a Texas hamburger with severed with nothing be fries, there was no sauce on the bun and a pinch of cheese and No lettuce or tomatoes, nothing but bun and meat with a price of 18.99, thats still sitting on my stomach. The hamburger meat looked dry and old. The chile had a piece of hair in it and the 3 piece meat platter was horrible and they had the nervous to charge $45.99 for that crap. Wanted to support a small local community business. Placed an order the day before, as soon as they opened, for the following day. The pick up was 5pm. An hour before they closed. I showed up at 5pm and paid and was told me order wasn't quite ready. Not a problem. I soon found out that a few customers before me had been waiting for about 20 minutes. It was black restaurant week so everyone decided to order food I guess and the number of workers was limited. I waited and waited until 6 pm to receive my order. Turns out that the order I thought I had placed, going off of the online menu was not the order I received, because the online menu hadn't been updated so you can imagine that frustration when it seems that you are missing food. I was then given the wrong sides. They were meant for the customer before me. So I gave her her sides, and then the restaurant gave her more sides, that they had made for her. I then had to wait an additional 20 minutes for my one side. I was given a regular, free of charge side for waiting. I feel more should have been given. The front window staff, one seemed confused and the other one was very friendly and overworked and stayed calm. If her demeanor had been different, this review would have gone all the way down hill. Turns out that the restaurant received a surge of online orders. I don't understand why my large order, placed almost 30 hours before, wasn't ready and didn't take precedence over online orders that came in a few hours before mine was meant to be ready. I'm not sure if it's because I didn't pay at ordering ( internet was down and didn't carry that large cash amount ) or what, but it was rather disappointing that the wait was that long. And with the menu items being different, one of my guest was limited to eating certain meats because he doesn't eat pork. The original online menu stated that I would receive beef brisket and tips as well. So that was disappointing. Saving grace is, the food was good and hot. We all enjoyed it whilst we ate. Me and my mom came in for lunch while doing errands. My mom comes in frequently, but it was my first time. You walk in and it's a cool vibe with good music. Miyah took our order and she was extremely friendly and attentive. The cooks were Deandre and Ricky and the food was amazing. I had the pork ribs and the meat was so tender it fell off the bone. I was a huge fan of the yams and overall the vibe was welcoming. The wait wasn't very long and honestly if I wanted quick food I would have hit a drive thru. The food is good, lets get that out of the way first. We had the Brisket sandwiches, mine with seasoned fries my sister's with bbq beans. The bread was thick and toasted perfectly and the slices of brisket were tender and oh so delicious. It came with a tiny cup of coleslaw which was just ok to me. Seasoned fries were big, crinkley and tasty. Overall a deliciously satisfying lunch. Tables were tight in there and service was a little slow, it got crowded real fast. Staff is super nice. Its located in the Crown Drugs plaza on University and Avalon so parking is shared by all businesses. Was in the area so I finally got to try My Father's BBQ. First of all I love that you can easily order online, no waiting on hold for someone to pick up, just completely hassle free. The website gives you the exact pick up time and when I arrived my food was ready for me, no line and no wait. I ordered the beef brisket sandwich and it was good. Worth a return. I only wished it had bbq sauce on it but that's just personal preference. There was bbq on the side that I drizzled on it as I ate. I selected the macaroni salad for my side and it was not really flavorful, not awful but not the best, looked like it had a lot of paprika or something. The customer service was just ok, no over the top greeting just kind of a few words in passing. It was lunch time so she was possibly busy and she did say thank you.
