Wow! Just called to ask what soup they had today. The response was "we're closed." I said "oh ok well what will you have when you open back up". The response was "we have hearty vegetable everyday and clam chowder on Fridays". I was going to say ok thank you but I got hung up on. The entire tone of the person who answered was just unwelcoming as if I was bothering her in some way. Very very rude phone skills...or lack thereof. Won't be trying out this place after that kind of treatment over the phone. If you're too annoyed with people calling in after you're closed, then maybe set up calls to go to a message that says you're closed and note your hours of operation. We frequent this place almost every weekend. We always get great service. Cindy and Patty are very hard workers. Always busy, but they don't deserve the mouthing off that they get from the cook. Yes he does cook well but on numerous occasions I have heard him shout out rudely to these ladies but never as much as I've heard today. Every time they picked up orders they were missing something and as they asked for their missing items he would snap back at them as if it were their fault and then demand to see their tags as if it were their fault. Not one time were their tags wrong he had just missed it yes it was super busy but no need to treat your staff like that. You could definitely see the frustration on their faces, they deserve respect. You can tell these ladies are well liked by their customers because they are always acknowledging the patrons. If you order the ordinary, straight up food like waffles or regular eggs, then you'll be in OK shape. Everything else seems to lack flavor. I would come to this location as I liked the food at the one in Modesto but the service over there was real funky. Well my love affair over here didn't last long due to a disastrous Mother's Day experience. We were seated in a noisy ass section where TWO 15-person parties were seated when there were better and quieter seats available. Then we essentially went ignored and the table busser had to get our drink refills. The waitress tried to run away after bringing our food before I could ask her for some condiments. We have visited this location several times since we moved to the area. The food is tasty, but the service is the pits. On our last visit our server took forever to take our order and after she did she disappeared - she never came back. I was able to flag down the hostess, but she was little to no help. After we seen others who arrived after us being served we got up and left. I left $5 for the coffee. I live close by and came with my family last weekend. when we entered we were seated and the lady helping us was not friendly but not jovial either. Our food took forever and when we wanted refills of tea they said they were closed now and couldn't give us refills. This is bad customer service. I have worked in The food business for a long time now and I would never turn down my customers for anything even if it's after closing time. This older lady gave us attitude also when we wanted to use a coupon. The food was just ok. Don't waste your time. go to Sam's cafe or Bob's coffee shop. The hubby and I decided to have late breakfast here and ordered the french dip and chinese chicken salad. I guaranty you, Chef Ramsay would have a shit fit. This place is nice to eat breakfast at but I DONOT recommend anything else. We were seated quick and our orders taken quick as well but once we got our food, everything went down hill. Though I missed the description, the salad portion of the meu had "Chinese Chicken Salad". What I didn't the part was it was stirfry. It's as rediculous as the grill ceasar salad on an episode of Kitchen Nightmare. Who in their right mind grills, let alone trirfry salad??? I asked for the salad dressing (teriyaki sauce) on the side but the stirfry was cooked with the teriyaki sauce. Image a stirfry on top of chopped of iceberg lettuce, that was my salad. And the hubby's french dip tasted like chewing on rubber and the meat was cut THICK. Hubby barely finished his food. And lastly, I think the servers weren't having a good morning. When I asked for a refill on my tea, one of the girls grabbed our cups unsanitality. Instead of picking ours like any person in their right mind would, by the sides of the cups, she put our cups side by side then stuck her fingers in the cups and picked up the cups like she was cleaning a table. We didn't to get sick so we just didn't drink out teas. God knows where her fingers have been but we certainly didn't know and didn't want to take a chance of getting sick. But one the upside, when our server asked how everything was, we told her about the rubbery tri-tip and they didn't charge us for it. As to my Chinese (Oriental, yes they asked me that) salad, I was hungry so I ate the whole Chinese stirfry salad (lol). It was a first for me. As I have said before, they're ok for breakfast, but as to anything else, there's always Sam's Cafe in downtown Ceres, corner of El Camino Ave and 5th Street. The food is ok, usually cooked to my satisfaction. The waitresses today are unusually (super) busy. There is a large wait line. They get the tables cleaned as fast as possible but I notice that food is backed up in the kitchen window. The cooks do NOT look happy! They are so busy that our drinks were ordered with our meal order. I do think they are overworked and that service is suffering. It is definitely apparent that on Sunday's they need extra help. I was very disappointed in the service and the food. The ham and cheese omelet was as thick as a pancake, was like trying to chew rubber; the hash browns were on the verge of being charcoal bits .As for the biscuits and gravy-Yuk , gravy from a can isn't very good. It had too much pepper and one little piece of what looked like link sausage.
