Really upset I use to come here all the time stop in with my fiancé this morning was walked past 3 times before I finally asked for a table for two was seated then watched the two tables around me get poured cup after cup of coffee and get asked how everything was and I in the hour I was there wasn't even asked for a refill of Pepsi. The food was pretty good but the service was awful. First we got there and we were told we seat ourselves. It was hot inside so I asked if we could go outside. We were told there was only one waitress on duty and it would be hard if things got busy. As a waitress myself I completely understood. It was about 1:15pm and there was only one other table in the place. Later when my husband was paying some people came in to eat and they were told the restaurant was closed. Apparently they close from 2pm to 5pm to get ready for dinner so they new they wouldn't be to busy to serve us on the deck I think it was more like lazy. We waited for a long time to order. We were wandering where the waitress was finally someone who was sitting at the counter got up and came to take our order. The food came in a decent amount of time and was pretty good. When we asked for some mayonnaise to put on the sandwich again it took the waitress forever to get it. The whole time we were there only one other table came in and then they were closed. I don't understand the reason for the poor service other than laziness. We definitely wont be going back there are many places with a menu just like the one at the Garden Cafe but with much better service. read more

Three stars based on the service only. Food is tasty and reasonably priced. Good sized portions, and home style food. They just don't have enough servers, and it took about a half hour to get our plates for a family of four. So expect to wait awhile. But if you have the time, the food and price is worth it...also the scrambled eggs come from a powder or liquid pre-mix, just like most other places so make sure you ask for real eggs. A good ole boys, southern/country inspired cafe. However, being from the south and growing up with country food, it fell short on taste. The gravy biscuits did not have true flavor. The gravy was bland and luke warm. The hashbrowns had a kerosene aftertaste. Disgusting! Found a hair in my potatoes and was too grossed out to eat the rest of the meal. When we told the lady, she credited just $2 for the potatoes. Everything is covered in GREASE, even the omelets. The restaurant smells too, the floors and walls are filthy. read more

We went here for breakfast one Friday morning in October. We walked in and the girl at the counter just waved us to a table. She was very short with us and rude. Another couple came in right after us and she did the same thing. We picked a table and sat there for 10 minutes with nothing. The other couple had an attentive waitress and had their drinks and their order placed promptly. The rude girl finally came over to us and asked what we wanted to drink. I let her know that others had come in behind us and had already ordered and had their drinks. She said that is why she came over in a very rude and demeaning tone. We went ahead and placed our drink order and decided to leave. I have never been treated to poorly in a restaurant. Especially a hometown restaurant that many people rave about. read more

I eat here for breakfast from time to time. But today was the absolute worst. I didn't see a waiter/waitress for the first 15 minutes. On top of that they have decided that putting the waiting area right in front of booths was the best idea ever. They had a lovely display of items that they make for catering events. I LOVEEE this place so much! From the warm and homey atmosphere to the delicious food my garden cafe is the spot to go to. Even after moving out of Ripon my family and I have made the trips to drive up here to get an delicious country breakfest. My go to meal is the strawberry waffles and a side salad with ranch. I wasn't blown away by any means, but the food and service definitely deserve 4 of 5 stars. I ordered the french toast which was made very well, there wasn't too much butter or sugar and it wasn't extremely soft like I've had at other places. The service could have been better but it was very understandable since there was only 1 server for the whole restaurant (an older lady). Aside from the food and service being worth of 4 stars I couldn't shake that the thought that this place was an old fast food restaurant or something before it was "My Garden Cafe". We went today with my parents to celebrate my step Dad Ken's B-Day. I've eaten here once before and this time I decided to leave a review. The cafe specializes in breakfast but we decided to have lunch. Three of our party ordered the Deluxe Club and were not disappointed. It came with option of fries, homemade soup or salad. One person ordered taco salad and they enjoyed it. the Grilled Chicken Club that my sons girlfriend ordered also looked yummy but is served hot and I wanted a traditional triple decker club!.. We got there around 11:30 and they were pretty busy but we weren't in a hurry. It's not a fast food restaurant so don't expect fast food. dDespite being busy the waitress was attentive and thorough. a couple things were not 100%, like my son got sour cream when he said "none" on his taco salad but it was easy to take off. We like to be courteous and I believe you get what you give... We brought a birthday cake with us and the waitress was nice enough to keep it refrigerated until we were ready for it; there was so much leftover that we gave three waitresses a piece too. However this time becoming more apparent a serious deep cleaning and repairs needed. The thick dust on sills and dirty windows, old dirty carpet around booths, water stained window treatments and ceiling are a turn off . Awesome Country Breakfast! It doesn't get as authentic as this place. I noticed most of the people are regulars. I had the T-Bone Steak and Eggs which was just over the top. I had the fruit on the side. Let me tell you, being in the central valley, the produce doesn't have to travel far so it's fresh. Lastly, the servers definitely country friendly. My favorite place in town. I always get the country omelette with hash browns and toast. Every time I go there is a good amount of customers but I never have to wait that long. All the waitresses are so nice and really take care of you. I also usually get at least 2 cups of their coffee because it is SO good. Highly recommend for breakfast. I know they have lunch and dinner sometimes but I haven't tried either yet but I'm sure they are great! read more
