Order a California omelette, it says house-made salsa and it was a enchilada sauce and says American cheese but taste and looks like cheap nacho cheese from 7-11. I have been here before years ago and the experience was lack luster but it's time to check in again and see how things are now.... It's always a great experience at their Modeso restaurant. So this should be similar right? Wrong. Sort of. I was met at the door and promptly seated by an efficient, if charmless, droid. After a while I started feeling neglected by my R2 unit. The experience was redeemed with a genuinely friendly waitress. My order was promptly dispatched and to my delight arrived in quick order. My modest Daylight Special arrived exactly as ordered and coffee was refreshed. No complaints here except the reheated sausage links, although tasty, were almost cool. That's been my experience at My Garden in Modesto as well. If that happens on my next visit I'll label it endemic. I was hungry and anxious to start my review so I did not get a photo except for the stack of toast. I'll definitely be back but probably make the drive to the other restaurant instead of here. The price point is absolutely a good value. Leave a good tip and help the wait staff by putting your plate at the end of the table. All in all, this is still worth a stop. read more

I was born and raised in Ripon, but have lived in Maryland for 24 years. We were visiting family this August, and a highlight during a pandemic vacation, was being able to eat here for breakfast one morning. I like that we were able to eat outside, and the food was fantastic and the portions were satisfying. I had the chorizo omelette with a side of biscuits and gravy. Delicious! Please excuse my love of hot sauce and obsession with ketchup in the photo. It's how I operate. I used to go here years ago and it was good but I just picked up a to go order and is totally disgusting! I got eggs Florentine, (eggs Benedict with spinach and mushrooms instead of ham) the eggs were hard boiled, not poached the hollandaise looks like it's been sitting out for a couple days. This weekend I decided to change up my breakfast routine and try a new diner. My boyfriend and I opted to go to the My Garden Café in Ripon after reading the Yelp reviews. I'll be honest the reviews on the biscuits and chocolate gravy is what swayed me.   The diner is cute and smells inviting. We were seated quickly and given time to look over the menu. I went for the Mediterranean Omelet with hash browns and (surprise) the biscuits with chocolate gravy. My boyfriend ordered the waffle combo. Our waitress was attentive and refilled our coffee regularly, although I wasn't a big fan of the coffee. It was made correctly I just wasn't fond of the flavor.   Our food came out relatively fast and was nice and hot, aside from the bacon. The Mediterranean Omelet was great tasting and nicely done. It did have an overly large amount of feta for me, although that wasn't really an issue as I just scraped some of it out. However, I was disappointed in my hash browns. They were cooked together in one large clump, sort of like a clump of mashed potatoes fried on both sides. I ate about a third of them and decided I'd had enough.   What I was largely disappointed in was the biscuit with chocolate gravy. I'm not quite sure what I was expecting, but I didn't like the overly sweet, generic chocolate pudding that was slopped on top of my biscuit. The biscuit itself was good with the right amount of fluff and butter, but I couldn't get over the super sweet chocolate pudding on top.   My boyfriend's waffle was okay, but nothing to write home about, and his bacon had the consistency of jerky and was cold. He ordered over medium eggs and got over easy, although honestly that is something a lot of restaurants have trouble with and nothing we usually fault them over. read more

No price increases, portion reductions... in fact, their menu is even more extensive. My Garden Cafe is now serving Dinner Entrees from 5pm onwards besides their all-day "regular" breakfasts and sandwiches. Joe's Original (**** 1/2 $8.25) Big 8" Plate filled to the brim with Country Potatoes (*****) and a Scramble concoction of the Original Joe's recipe - Ground Chuck mixed with Eggs, Onions, and Mushrooms. I've got to say that My Garden's Country Potatoes was FAR better than the Joe's Original! Not kidding! Thinly-sliced diagonally-cut Potatoes fried with bits of Green Bell Peppers, and diced Onions and then some Black Pepper mixed in on top of that - Damn, this was Good! Chose the side of Pancakes (****), 2-5" round Pancakes on a separate small plate. Very good! Coffee (*** 1/2 $1.75) Unlimited refills! In fact, Service (*****) Service has not declined... Always had a full cup o' Coffee and Ice Water without asking. For some reason, still an awful lot of Flies.... like last year. Just what I like... Still a favorite place of ours-glad to see they are still open and busy. Yummy food as always. The ranchero sauce on the breakfast burritos was yummy. And as always the chicken fried steak was crispy and the gravy thick and yummy. The pancakes are fluffy and tasty-breakfast desert. First and last time to this location. 1. Our waitress never came to our table to ask if everything was ok, but she did all to the tables around is 2. I had to get up and get my own coffee creamer 3. I had to get up to get my own ketchup 4. I had to get up to ask for a coffee refill 5. I had to get up and ask for my own water. 6. I had to flag down a different waitress to fill my coffee cup. And there was one waitress that came automatically without asking. 7. Our waitress was not very friendly, because when I thanked her for anything she didn't answer back. 8. She was nice to everyone else around our table but not to us. 9. And didn't have to look very hard, but there are strains and dirt on the floors and walls. I took my daughter in law for breakfast, it was our first time here but it will be the last. Although we regularly stop into the Tully Rd. Modesto cafe, today was our first time eating at the Ripon location. We won't be back. I ordered my favorite, the crab sandwich. The waitress dropped our food and a requested bottle of ketchup at our table and that was the last we saw of her until long after we'd finished our meal. My sandwich was nothing like what I get from the Modesto cafe. There it's delicious with crab salad, a little spicy mayo and lots of shredded lettuce and tomatoes on a croissant. Today it was a croissant with overly wet crab salad, too much spicy mayo and not one shred of lettuce or slice of tomato. And no sign of the waitress to request a correction. We ate and then waited, and waited for our check. Waitress finally paused at our booth and said "I gave you your check, right?" We said no, and she searched her pockets to no avail and told us she didn't know what she did with it as she walked away. We watched her taking orders and serving food on the other side of the room for almost 15 minutes before we got up and went to the cashier. I told her our waitress apparently lost our check but we'd waited far too long already and needed to go. Waitress laughed and said it had stuck to the back of her order book and she forgot to bring it to us. Our check was given directly to the cashier who took my card and processed it. I never saw it to verify that it actually reflected our order. We will continue to enjoy the food at the Modesto location but will avoid the Ripon cafe in the future. read more

They are not following COVID 19 protocol. Went for breakfast last week and most servers had masks on but one did not and neither did the cooks! I don't want people leaning over my food with no mask! I had no re fills on my water when it was clearly empty for a majority of the time once I received my food. Very disappointed in the service. And no they were not busy. Unimpressive. I ordered the Eggs Florentine which came out with the sauce looking lowkey like hardened melted cheese... like what? The poached eggs were overcooked and not runny.... isn't that point of a benedict? The potatoes were sliced in potato chip form and half were burned the other half not fully cooked?? Great food. HORRIBLE SERVICE! This used to be the spot on a Sunday morning, but after my last visit, I think not. I understand that they get busy, but they won't even communicate with their guests waiting at the door or anything! On a busy morning, you might enter and see the crowd of people that are waiting to be sat before you, but you won't really know what the heck is going on because the staff won't even talk to you. There is an older lady that works there that wears her hair up...I'm not sure of her name, but I suggest getting her to serve you because she's the only one I've had any luck with. Really upset I use to come here all the time stop in with my fiancé this morning was walked past 3 times before I finally asked for a table for two was seated then watched the two tables around me get poured cup after cup of coffee and get asked how everything was and I in the hour I was there wasn't even asked for a refill of Pepsi. Walked in for brunch with Ma and Pa recently and I would say that overall this place is not a bad choice for a quick, casual, diner style meal. Our server, Amber, was very nice and appropriately attentive. Decor is cutesy farmhouse and Formica. Clean tabletops and restrooms. Their booth boxes (where the seat pad sits on top of) need cleaning or recovering. No big deal, it's a farming community so there's gonna be some wear and tear. 1. Huevos Rancheros: I took a gamble on this one as this place is definitely not Mexican and many Mexican places can't even do Mexican right. Overall tasty but, they do NOT use lard in their beans. Lard is the critical ingredient to make Frijoles delicious. An "approximation" of refried beans at best, I did not finish them. 2. BLT w/Veggie Soup: Good portions with quality ingredients in the correct proportions made for a happy Mom. Can't ask for more than that. 3. BLT w/Egg and a HUGE Garden Salad. Again portion, ingredients, proportion were all on point so no complaints from Dad. I did notice that they use Hunt's Organic Ketchup instead of the usual crappy Heinz. Thank you for that! All in all, I'd say I'd be happy to come here again as they have a wide range of dishes to suit any mood and a competent (that day) cook who turned out some good dishes. Clean overall, the restaurant has plenty of little nick knacks on the walls to look at if the conversation is slowing. Only complaint is the lack of Lard in their beans.
