Both my son and daughter have attended MLS. My son took advantage of some summer enrichment and it had a dramatic influence for him at the start of the school year. My daughter recently had a tutoring session for reading and comprehension. She is 9 and was very resistant at first but as soon as her session was over she begged me to schedule her next session AND couldn't wait to go home and read. Both of my kids get math tutoring at My Learning Studio. Alejandro just helped my 11th grade daughter through AP Calculus and she got an A. He also helped her get an A in AP Physics! We've been doing their summer core boot camp for two years and we love the results. Our daughter goes into the school year with the familiarity of the materials that's going to be covered for the next year. It also helps as a parent for me to be able to anticipate which areas she had problems with. The class groups are small so there's a lot of 1-1 time. I value the teacher's observations and feedback. The environment is fun, friendly, and casual. It takes a lot of the intimidation out of hard subjects like math and reading. Our daughter loves her teacher Ms Kristin and Ms Cynthia. I also like how the teacher from last year is still there a year later. I think continuity and familiarity makes it easier for her to learn since they've already have that camaraderie. My daughter has been struggling in school so during the summer I like to find activities that will keep those academic strides we make each year from sliding backwards over the summer. I'm so happy to have found My Learning Studio. Lorna and her staff are the best! My daughter has been attending one on one sessions and the Common Core Boot Camps for the last few years and she is so excited to attend each session that I barely get a chance to say goodbye when dropping her off. If I could give this company 0 stars I would. They only care about money and not the well being of your child. My daughter had an emergency situation where she developed a 103 degree fever and I had to cancel. They still want to charge me the tutoring fee because they claim they still need to pay their tutor and they have a 36 hr cancellation policy. So I guess they prefer to work with a sick and lethargic child so they can get paid, rather than have an engaged child who can learn rom the lesson. Mind you, they take a deposit before you begin services. Lorna is one money hungry shady business women. Last, I wasn't too happy with her first virtual session because the tutor was not prepared and she took a good 15 mins to figure out how to present her screen and work her computer. She also thought my daughter was getting tutoring for math when it was for reading. In any case, I thought I'd give her another chance because everyone deserves a second chance. Well, Lorna you lost a client for being an unethical bully. Your business practices are deplorable. read more

My Learning Studio is the BEST! My son struggles with Math and with Covid available resources for additional help are limited. It was difficult to find people willing to provide extra help. My Learning Studio came through. They found the perfect match for my son. Additionally, My Learning Student was highly flexible and when we encountered a conflict or requested additional time, they ALWAYS came through. The employees are pleasant and understanding. I am grateful for the Boot Camp program this is the second summer my children have gone for two sessions. Lorna, Ulla and Jesse are amazing! I needed a Chemistry tutor, which is hard to find. However, at My Learning Studio they have the perfect tutor, Jesse, a Chem major who has really connected and helped my daughter. She is in 11th grade, enjoys going and her grade has improved dramatically. The prices are great, the learning environment is fantastic. My 6 year old son has been in attendance here for a short amount of time but he absolutely loves going. He told me he wishes he could go every day. THE LEARNING STUDIO HAS TRULY BEEN A BLESSING!! First and foremost, Lorna is AMAZING!! My son has been coming to The Learning Studio for several months now and all I am is thankful! Lorna and her staff have ALWAYS been respectful, courteous, and accommodating when it comes to my son's needs. I came to the studio when I was at a stand still in the private school system, my son needed more one on one attention in his weak subjects. Right from the start the experience wasn't as if we were just customers; Lorna and her staff treated us like family. They have been patient yet proactive in helping my son succeed! Even in my times of financial hardship Lorna didn't just turn her back on us she worked out a plan to keep my in the program. I have tried several outlets in the past to help my son in his needs with having an IEP but they all failed him. My son is 11 years old and struggling with school in many subjects because it is hard for him to focus, especially since COVID protocols with at home in-person virtual schooling and not having that hands on learning and stimulation on a daily basis with his teacher since the schools are closed. I was referred through one of his friends' mother to Lorna and I called her and got him set up with a tutor twice per week. Her name is Norma and my son loves her. He enjoys the tutoring and one-on-one attention with her. She has helped him so much with his math, vocabulary and more.. and she is kind, friendly and has so much patience with my son. We are only starting week three this afternoon and his teacher told me today that he is already showing improvement!! In response to Juli: When parents are initially introduced to the program, a contract is signed, stating the Studio's guidelines for the parent, the student, and the tutor. These guidelines are verbally explained to the parent. They are printed on the written contract, and are clearly posted in the center. Per the contract, clients choose an appointment day and time, and may switch their selected time only ONCE during the 6-week time period, allowing MLS to schedule the tutors, and provide the desired continuity for the students. This parent requested that her child's appointment be changed multiple times, even within the span of a week. The Studio made every effort to work with her, in spite of the above rule. This was difficult for management, as well as for the tutor, who could not plan on a regular work schedule. Secondly, although a specific tutor is, of course, preferable for establishing a relationship with the student, it is unreasonable to expect MLS to provide ONLY that particular tutor. In the case of vacation, illness or jury duty, an equally-qualified substitute is provided, as per the signed contract. Each tutor keeps complete notes in the student's file so that when such an event takes place, the substitute tutor knows how to continue, in order to benefit the student. And as Juli stated in her review, these are "great tutors who care." It is typical for MLS to make every effort to accommodate parents, even the demanding and unreasonable ones, because their goal is to help struggling students achieve greatness. One more thing: My two grandsons, ages 11 & 14, attended the LEGO camp, and loved every minute of it. They were completely engaged, and wanted to return week after week. read more

This place has been amazing for our son. He struggled in 8th Math last year and with the help of tutoring weekly, he now enjoys doing Math and can now did it on his own. We have been using My Learning Studio for math tutoring the past six weeks. We are a homeschool family so a little outside help is sometimes needed.
