Tried My Mama's Kitchen for brunch, and we were NOT disappointed! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is SO cute. I love the decor and colors chosen. It's cute for a date, a celebration, or just a day out with friends or family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While we were able to be seated immediately, it did take a little bit for our server to come to us. Heidi was our waitress, and she was nice. She did seem a bit flustered though. Not sure if maybe she is new. We had the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer, and I had the blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes with eggs and bacon. The only other fried green tomatoes I've had were at Tupelo Honey, and while those are good, you can tell they're a frozen dish they just fry really quickly. These tasted homemade today, and the remoulade sauce they're served with is really good! The pancakes were excellent; they didn't even need syrup. I like that they use shell eggs and not those egg beaters. Everything came out quick and fresh! I have zero complaints about the food. I will definitely be back again for brunch and to try their dinner menu!

It's been roughly 2 years since we've heard anything from My Mama's Kitchen. They closed their Shore Dr location in order to move to a bigger venue on Little Creek Rd. I'm sure many figured they'd be up and running again in a few months, but this move took much longer as they opted to remodel and rebuild their new location on their own. Well, My Mama's Kitchen finally opened the doors to their new location just before Mother's Day. I told my mom about them, so we tried them out on the afternoon of 5/20/26. Located across the street from Wedgewood Plaza (i.e. The Banque is in Wedgewood Plaza), off the bat there is much more available parking. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And once we walked inside, you can witness how spacious Kitchen is compared to their old location. The venue looked good and you can tell plenty of work was put in towards remodeling.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We waited a little bit to be seated - there wasn't a host there to initially greet us. An employee came out, saw us and proceeded to seat us, although it was a little weird she handed us their menu before we got to the table. I was a little confused because she asked us if we were dining in. Right after we replied, "Yes," she continued to give us the menu, then casually motioned for us to follow her to the dining area. We were sat and immediately greeted by a server who kinda helped guide us to our table. Our server was quiet, but nice, and there were stretches where she was absent. She was pretty good about refills and was all smiles during our visit. The absences were interesting, but there was another employee who helped us during the gaps. I talked to her as we were leaving and she told me she came over from The Stockpot. She mentioned she helped curate the menu and, at the time we were originally seated, she was bartending. She was clearly a FOH manager of sorts - on top of things and super nice. I'd return simply based on our interaction with her. Pivoting to the food - Kitchen's food was just as good as I remembered. Mom and I split an order of wings (as an appetizer), which we proceeded to devour. I originally ordered a Cajun pasta dish, but was later informed it wasn't available, so I ordered Mama's Cheesesteak to replace it. Our food didn't take long to arrive at our table, and all of our items turned out great. Mom had the Meatloaf Dinner which she liked a lot. She mentioned to the FOH manager that she'd be back, which, considering my mom, is as good a glowing endorsement as one could receive from her. Along with my seal of approval, My Mama's Kitchen will work its way into our restaurant rotation. Mind you, our visit had some hiccups (the aforementioned absence gaps; the weird interaction just to get us seated; lack of awareness to provide necessary items, like silverware, napkins, et al.). But those are things that can be improved and fine-tuned given time and experience. Once they address some (imo) minor concerns, My Mama's Kitchen should thrive at their new location. Their food is still excellent, but as all 'new' establishments go, trial and error and coaching will help smooth everything out. Otherwise, I'm happy with our initial visit to their new location and look forward to many future visits. Thank you, My Mama's Kitchen! JV

Stopped in shortly before 1800hrs for dinner tonight. There was a sign on the door stating that they would be closed at 1700hrs for 1 hour. At 1800hrs the door was still locked and I was informed that the doors would open in 15 minutes. At 1820hrs the door was still locked. Myself and the rest of the patrons were finally let in shortly thereafter. When we were finally seated and ready to order I was informed that they were out of my top two choices (ribs or brisket). They were also out of meatloaf and baked chicken. I settled on the cheesesteak. Not what I wanted but it was good. Actually, it was really good but not what I came in for. Almost forgot to mention that the sides came in paper throw away cups. Also noticed that two ladies ordered what looked like banana pudding and their desserts were also in a plastic cup. The best part of the visit was Lydia. She is the bartender and was also our server. Lydia was absolutely wonderful. We all noticed how she stayed constantly busy and had a continuous smile on her face. My Mamas Kitchen that young lady needs a raise. Lydia is hands down MMK's best asset. Don't know if you will see this Lydia but you are the main reason we will be giving MMK another try. All in all I might try them one more time. It was disappointing to not be able to order either of the two dishes I wanted but the staff was very kind.

Good food is worth the wait, so call ahead an order in advance if you're pressed for time. Heard really great things about the owner. Checked out Facebook. So we went. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is beautiful inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They had us waiting in a waiting area for 20 minutes. Finally sat us. No one paid us any attention for the next 20 minutes. We finally got a waitress to take our order. Too bad they were out of 98% of the menu by 7pm. We ordered what they did have. 10 minutes later waitress said they were out of that. They've got meat loaf!!!!! I had wasted an hour of my time. The owner is a total jerk. Had been there laughing it up catering to a group of friends. All of them ate and had leftovers. He said to us , Okay, goodbye. Have a good night. No I'm sorry. Just a nasty attitude. The hostess was the only thing good here. She apologized. I would like to know why we were treated so badly. Never got any food. Just lemon with water. Asked for the lemons multiple times. Just to horrible experience. The owner is awful. Don't need to watch any more videos or see how much it took to get here. Karma is real. I saw you for myself. Will never ask you to feed me ir mine again.

I've had this place bookmarked forever and was so excited to go! It's a small cute quaint spot and definitely gives you a mom and pop vibe. The staff is helpful and patience as to the questions you may have about the menu. I heard about the wings so that is what the hubs and I knew that we had to get. But ugh...the wings were fried a little too hard and the sauce we had didn't really taste good. I also had the salmon Po boy and it was ok. Didn't realize he had cheese on it, so I would definitely omit that next time. But overall, they have a menu that will get your tummy full.

Unfortunately this place had a not so stellar offering. Order the burger with Thai wings, the burger was sloppily made with old withered shredded lettuce. The wings didn't seem fresh and they were overcooked so it was hard. The wings cannot be considered jumbo as they are small winglets. For the price point they have to rediscover their original stance on quality. Also they forgot to pack my ranch dressing with my order.

Its been a while since i ate here so my sis and i went to check them out. They've rearranged the restaurant since last time i was there. We called in an order for the catfish po boy, mac n cheese, fries, and the gouda burger... The food is something thats probably more enjoyable if eaten there... The fish and fries were pretty good while they were hot. It wasn't the same after it cooled down. The fish was seasoned and crispy. It had good flavor. There was no salt on the fries but there was cajun seasoning. I'm not a big fan of natural cut fries, so they weren't my favorite. But still were good. They came out hot and fresh. The mac n cheese had absolutely NO flavor besides cheese. It looked very appealing but definitely didn't taste like anything. I think their spicy mayo sauce is really good. It was good on the burger, fries, and fish. I'm glad i got extra. The gouda burger is a nice portion with all the fixins, but it was under seasoned. I added my own seasoning at home and it made the burger better. They have several things on the menu that I'd like to try. Their hot dogs sound good on the menu with fun toppings. They have a few tables to dine inside, but its not a large restaurant. There's also outdoor seating. Theres also a parking lot out front with about 6-8 spots, but they do fill up pretty quickly. The cashier was very nice. She was extremely busy taking orders, packaging orders, and taking food to tables. But she still found the time to chat with us briefly. I do like this place. I think I'll probably eat in my car next time so i can have the food at its best. Check them out!!

My Mama's Kitchen has been a favorite of mine since walking inside years back to try out a chicken and waffles dish once they became open on Saturdays. Time and time again, Sophia and I never had any bad moments here. In 2019, they announced they were closing for renovations, which was no big thing. Plans were for them to reopen the following Spring. But, COVID-19 hit, which pushed things back for all of us. During that time, we were able to check out other places on my Yelp radar. With Sophia celebrating her birthday (and the both of us having an extended weekend), she begged me to take her back. So I thought it would be okay to head back and see how things were going. Once we walked in, we were greeted by Chef Moe and the crew. Immediately, we ordered at the counter. My choice was The Drip chicken sandwich, which was fried chicken dipped in spicy BBQ sauce and topped with cole slaw and pickles served with fresh cut fries. I also ordered salted caramel banana pudding for dessert. I did order the same sandwich before years ago which first came out during the chicken wars right when Popeyes put theirs out and loved it. And just like before, it hit a home run. The crunch of the chicken with sauce spicy enough to burn your lips and make your nose run.....need I say anything else? The fries....taste exactly the same. Seasoned to perfection not needing any condiments. The dessert...not too sweet and delivered on all fronts. Just as good as their strawberry smash dessert. This was truly a nice way to head back here to relive old times and see then thriving. The bad part was I waited too long to make a return. But, better now than never. We will definitely be back before the year's over :)

Drip - best chicken sandwich ever! I generally don't like chicken sandwich because they tend to be dry and bland, but I had to give this a shot since it's a "must try" and ohhhh man! The best! The chicken piece was generous, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The sauce used also also so flavorful. I'm salivating thinking of it now, haha! My husband got the cheese steak fries. I mentioned that I saw it on yelp but it's not on their menu, their chef hooked it up and still made it. Omg, so good! Definitely one of my most favorite place and will highly recommend to anyone I know who'll stop by Virginia Beach.

Was going to do a review for another wing place near my home that just didn't satisfy our wing cravings. I found myself constantly comparing it to My Mama's kitchen so I quickly checked to make sure I left a review for this place. Can't believe I didn't. We were so happy to try these wings. The wings are big, delicious and juicy. We love the Gangnam, 5 word and the drip. Try them all though. They also offer specialty hot dogs, po boys, cheese steaks, cat fish fillets and crab cakes. I've heard they offer this amazing strawberry shortcake but each time I come they're out. Literally my favorite wing spot. They do have a small dine in area but there isn't a lot of space.

EAT HERE NOW. Rare & special gem! It's one thing to have terrific food - it's quite another to have terrific food and terrific people operating a small, family-owned business. The folks who run this gem are so sweet and really took their time to tell us newbies what was good (PS: EVERYTHING). The fries are low-key magic! Get that Remi sauce. Also magic. The Drip? Criminally good: a knock out, messy, ten napkin wonder. I got one crab cake as a side to try. I did not share this with anyone because it was gone too fast. The wings were beyond fresh and that magic crispy/juicy combo that defies logic. Food was delicious. They also serve jumbo shrimp with their meals, nothing skimpy! It is very small, so feels a bit tight and parking is a pain. However, our waitress was so friendly; it was my first time and you would have thought i was a regular by how friendly she was. She also shared they are getting a new location, which I'm looking forward to visit. Only reason i gave 4 stars is because i hate not having easy access to parking, so if that's not huge for you, it's definitely a 5 star! read more

Stopped by today omw in from the DMV. I decided to get the Seafood Lovers meal and an order of "The Drip" flavored wings with the Salted Caramel Banana Pudding for dessert. Service was very friendly and prompt. It is a small establishment, but the inside is nice and quaint and inviting. I decided to eat in since I had been on the road for a few hours, and I am so glad that I got to experience my food while still hot. The seafood was fresh and seasoned just right. Im not sure what kind of dipping sauce came with it, but it was addictive! I'm so mad that I forgot to get more to go! The portions were huge for such a minimal cost! The sauce on the wings was tasty and not too spicy at all. My catfish filet was huge, but oh so delicious! The shrimp was great, and the crab cake was cooked perfectly! However, that Salted Caramel Banana Pudding w/the Chessman cookies was ao amazing that I ordered another one to go. So glad that I didn't pass up on this spot and will definitely visit again the next time that I'm in the area! Parking is minimal, and I arrived around lunchtime but had no issues with finding a park. There is outside seating as well. 10 out of 10!!! My husband and son (who eats nothing) rummaged the menu from greens, to Mac, wings and fish. Our 9 year old loved the Mac and cheese so much he asked for seconds. Highly recommend the catfish Po boy and mamas fried wings. I would add a picture but it would be of bones!!! read more

We just landed at Norfolk this afternoon and wanted somewhere close by for lunch. We ordered 1 beef brisket dinner which came with 1 side and coleslaw. The beef brisket was moist but quite underwhelming. There is a distinct taste that we are just not used to. Also the presentation of the beef brisket wrapped in aluminum foil was not an attractive presentation at all. Now onto some good news, For the side, we got collard green which was amazing and they let us to opt out of coleslaw which we got Mac n cheese. My son got the beef Philly cheesesteak which came with fries. Although the fries could be more crisper, the sandwich was hearty. The star actually has to be the wings as we got 12 wings old bay seasoning style which is kinda like a dry rub taste. All in all, we enjoyed some of the food but had high hopes for the brisket. Based on today's visit, we will give it 3 strong stars. There are few spot parking on site for free. Lastly, the staffs there are super friendly. read more

My Mama's Kitchen is by far the most delicious lunch I have had in ages. I catered a lunch for my office && everything was delicious. It's easy to order && they have it ready to go at the pickup time. Everyone loved the food && we are looking forward to ordering again. Fan favorites were the wings, the drip && of course the Po'Boy. Also the sides- fire! We had potato salad, Mac and cheese && that cornbread. Delicious! I highly recommend you check it out if you haven't already. Great food, great service && a great team! Who ever thought a hot dog could be so delicious. Their Caribbean hotdog with jerk chicken, peas and rice, cabbage and plantains is unbelievable. A must try. In fact get the Comfort dog too. Oh, and the corn bread, light and buttery. We met Mama and the crew and they were very nice. read more

This place is delicious. I had to do the walk up window thanks to Rona but whatever. Small parking lot that was packed so that's a good sign. That BBQ sando with cheese, meat and bacon is gonna stop by heart but worth it. SPICY wings and i don't remember what sauce i had but it had some heat. kiddo liked her hot dog so we were all smiles. PRO TIP- since it's to-go right now... drive around the corner to COVA and enjoy it with some brews! read more

I knewwwww I was going to end up leaving a review. Once I smelled it I just knew it lol. It's laundry day for me and I just wanted a fish sub. I had been to 4 different establishments before finding this place on Google maps. When I saw the name My Mama's Kitchen I had a feeling it would be good lol. I got the fish po boy and I was not disappointed!! I included a photo of my tray after I had already started eating the fries but every bite was incredible. The building is small and a little out of the way but there are signs near the road and it's well lit so you can spot it. I ordered the garlic parm wings, 5 word wings, fries, Mac and cheese, and cucumber salad. They were out of the cucumber salad by the time I got there so I asked them to give me whatever they recommend so they subbed it for collards. The kitchen is open so you can kind of see what's going on back there and it is obviously family run because there's kids all over the place. Everyone that works there was friendly and engaging, including giving me some free cornbread because it was my first time there. The cornbread is, no exaggeration, the best I've ever had. They gave it to me fresh and hot. It was incredibly moist and so sweet, but not too sweet. The garlic parm wings were so flavorful and tender. The 5 word wings were too spicy for me... but I'm a total baby. My husband had them and he said they were delicious- vinegary and spicy. The fries were not crispy but they had some kind of spice mix on them that was great. The Mac seemed like it was made up of several kinds of cheese and was very gooey and cheesy. The collards were perfect. I was almost hesitant to write this because I don't need anyone else going here. But this place is so good. read more

One star short of perfect bc the restaurant is not consistently great. I will order shrimp dinner one day (great) and the next visit order the same dinner & it's totally different. My opinion is the main chef may not have the best backup when he/she is out. I will keep giving my business tho bc they have their spices & seasonings figured out. Truly addictive flavors. Dude. This place is straight-up legit AF. Five stars doesn't seem like enough. So, if you're the type that doesn't like to read more than a paragraph, just go there and thank me later. Better yet, thank them. Okay. Let's dig in. The first thing I noticed was the service. They were great. I wanted to try the Red Dragon's Breath sauce. Basically, because I'm stupid. For the uninitiated, the Dragon's Breath chili pepper is that pepper they said could kill you. It won't. But, it's right up there with the Carolina Reaper. More on the sauce later though. They make all their sauces to order, which is a royal pain in the ass for the cook, just to make a side of it. So, I again want to thank the guy making the food. They also subbed out the slaw for Mac n' cheese. That's just awesome. Killer customer service in every possible way. Now, to the food. First off, that side of Red Dragon's Breath sauce tasted fan-f***ing-tastic. Usually, sauces with these type of peppers don't have anything resembling flavor. Not My Mama's Kitchen. The first thing you notice is the flavor. It's only after a few seconds after, that you realize there's heat to match. So... it's actually a balanced sauce. And, that's just rare to find, in the sea of homogenized garbage wing joints out there. The wings are the bomb. We got Buffalo Soldier, which is basically a mix of Buffalo and Jamaican Jerk. Oh... and they did all-drum! I'm not saying they're gonna do that at 6:00 on a Friday. So, if you ask and they say no, respect that and get them anyways. They were beautifully-cooked and sauced. The Mac n' Cheese was pretty bad ass as well. But, the pièce de résistance was the pulled pork. I don't even eat pulled pork unless it's fresh and resting off the smoker. I usually order chopped pork. But this pork sandwich was a masterpiece. It comes lightly-sauced, which allows you to taste the pork, which was smoky, moist and had a great bark. Honestly, I'd pit their BBQ against any in the area. It's that good. So, get your ass down to My Mama's Kitchen. If you don't live in walking distance, try to eat it there. And? Be hungry. Little hole in the wall just off Shore Drive. It is a walk up counter with a small patio and a few tables inside too. The hamburger is huge with two patties and gouda cheese and we spied housemate pickles on there too! The special was the surf and turf cheesesteak - a traditional cheesesteak with the addition of grilled shrimp and remoulade - a great combination! Everything is prepared fresh so it takes a few extra minutes but the folks who work there are a pleasure to chat with while you are waiting. The restaurant is featured in a political commercial and looked like something I would like to try. When I called Friday, they were closed due to water inside the restaurant. The owner said he would be opened the next day; he was open and the phone rang. I ordered a philly cheese steak & fries, 6 garlic parmesan wings, 6 drip wings and an extra order of fries. Great price--all this for under $30. I love fries. So when they are fresh cut and seasoned, I am in love. Good sized portion--great move. The philly cheese steak was smaller than I normally get but the meat portion was more than I expected. The meat was seasoned well and the onions and peppers were mixed in and blended well. Nothing overly salted. 10 out of 10 is my vote. I rarely order wings from restaurants because they are normally unseasoned, covered in sweet sauce, small and fried way too hard. Not the case here. First, I tried the drip wings; the smokey, sweet taste was like a good barbeque sauce. The parmesan garlic wings were good-both flavors complimented the wings. Since nothing was over salted and seasoned nicely the taste of the wings came out. Will visit again for my Friday wing fest. My Mama's Kitchen is the epitome of a homely hole-in-the-wall type of joint. Come here to get some delicious BBQ, hot dogs, corn bread, sweet potato pie, etc. When my wife asked the dude what was good to order, he replied "everything's good." When she asked what his favorite was, he said "everything's my favorite or else it wouldn't be on the menu." Basically, he was of no help and you're on your own for food decisions! Everything we ordered was pretty tasty. This is one of those places where you wish you could try every single thing because, like the guy said, everything is good (or at least sounds good on the menu). I recommend getting some yummy loaded wings. I like how this place is near the airport so if you're trying to kill some time going to or leaving the airport, this is a nice place to stop for lunch or dinner. read more

My roommate found this place. kind of offensive cause she isn't from her I am. NO CLUE ! it was here and this good. Me and my other half are both past restaurant managers, so as you can imagine going out to eat isn't as easy at it should be cause whether you realize it or not you find yourself picking things apart and just in manager mode. 1st, the heat that they can provide on the wings is phenomenal. My honey can eat jalapenos like its candy , so for them to be able to provide a heat that not only shuts him up but makes his forehead sweat is priceless. 2nd,I am one of those people that don't like chicken on the bone. OK so how can I start off a basically my three visits to my mamas kitchen summarize to be this when I first went there I was blown away. I got the red dragon chicken wings and one of their specialty hotdogs 5/5 all day. My second visit was very unfortunate and I was very displeased but the owner reached out to me he did everything he could to make it right. This is when the third visit comes in when I'm telling you guys I was blown away about how they handled customer feedback about how they took care of me as a customer and did not want to see me unhappy about their business. I was served the best chicken sammi I've ever had in my 32 years of living. The chicken was cooked perfectly it was crispy it was saucy it was juicy it was delicious !! The slaw on the sandwich was very flavorful and the pickles had a perfect crunch!!! They even subbed the sauce with red dragon for me, top of that I was given a complimentary desert. I will make it my mission to try everything on the menu now. I'm blown tf away 100 out of 5 all fall day!!! Ps. Oh my Gosh. This is some of the most fantastic soul food I have ever eaten. Be aware it is a hole in the wall behind somebody's house so food joint. This is not the place that you take a girl for her first date, however, this is the place that you take the right girl for the third date. The service is fantastic, I couldn't make up my mind what I wanted because it all sounded so good so I let the guy at the register pick for me and told him that the only thing I couldn't have with beef. He suggested the drip sandwich, I understand where the name came from as it was dripping with sauce and flavor. My wife had the shrimp and grits, which was also absolutely fantastic. We got the five word wings which I can sum up in one word Yum. There is only one complaint that I can think of and that is that they did not have sweet tea. It's a small spot right off the main road. The food is bomb prices are very reasonable, the owner Moe is a great guy and his staff is very friendly. So I just so happened to have a taste for some soul food after work, had no idea where to start, so I googled a couple of places & ended up here....OMG, talk about a hidden gem, very small but staff was very pleasant with smiles on theirs faces, the place was clean, & OMG, the food was delicious like that soul food your mama use to cook, so much flavor, & the portions were enormous, I couldn't even eat it all. First off.... I was led to this treasure by all the hype that I was hearing. It did not disappoint at all.... The drip.... A hot chicken style breast with cole slaw, house made pickles and some sauce... easy 10/10 Garlic Buffalo Wings... my only complaint is that I only ordered 12 and not 50. I have lived many places and every place has that one wing spot. This is 757's wing spot, hands down the best that I have had. 10/10 Catfish dinner w/ greens and baked beans. - amazing sauce and the beans were on point. I've been wanting to try this place for a while, but it's a little out of the way from where I live/work. My friend invited me to lunch and I was in the area so we chose this place. When we arrived the line was almost out of the door and the phone was ringing off the hook(so I knew the food MUST be good :)). We were greeted by two down to earth brothers, who were working HARD. The menu had a variety of items and I wanted to try them all! I first ordered the ultimate chicken and waffle, but unfortunately they were out of chicken bites so I had to order something else. I ordered the shrimp po' boy, my friend ordered jerk wings, some new specialty wings(I forgot the name-lemon pepper with garlic), and sweet potato pie. I wish I would've got a picture of everything but I only took a picture of my shrimp po' boy. OMG!! The wings were sooo good! The best I've had in a while. When we ordered the wings well done, the cashier laughed and said "that's the only way we make them...". THE.SWEET.POTATO.PIE!!! SO GOOD AND PERFECT nice and soft, thick, sweetened to perfection! It was so good that we ordered another one. Unfortunately, they ran out of sweet potato pie (I wasn't even mad because I could understand why lol) so they gave us their famous corn bread instead. And it was just as good! My shrimp po' boy was good, but I didn't like how much extra bread was on my roll. But other than that it was good and the fries looked and tasted homemade, which were really good! I would have definitely given them 5 stars if they didn't run out of food. A friend of mine got a recommendation to come here from one of her friend's and man, I am so happy she asked me to tag along. l was a little skeptical of this place because it's in the middle of a neighborhood (I thought to myself, "they're LITERALLY cookin' in their mama's kitchen!!) but don't let the exterior fool you. Their food is packed with flavor with top notch service. I do recommend carpooling though since there isn't much parking- and the space isn't too big so large parties wouldn't be suitable! All of our food came out pretty quickly and it was HOT! It's all made to order and the gentlemen working were super friendly. I ordered the shrimp po boy with fries and a water bottle. The fries were crisp and flavorful- with an old bay like seasoning. The po boy was filling and tasty! But the best part of our meal were the WINGS! I know better for next time to order their wings. My friend ordered 6 parmesan garlic wings, 6 gangham style wings, mac&cheese, cornbread, and potato salad. The wings were juicy, a great size, and a little crispy on the outside. The gangham style was my favorite- its sort of like an asian style, sweet and sour like sauce that I think would go great with white rice. The cornbread was sweet, moist, and a good size. My friend usually doesn't like eggs on potato salad, but it was so flavorful that she didn't mind the eggs. The mac&cheese wasn't anything out of the ordinary. The price for the amount of good food you get is unbeatable. All in all, if you are in the area you gotta stop by My Mama's Kitchen. Well, she's at the school taking care of the "cherns" (that's real southern for children). That's Years to Remember Preschool on Little Creek Road not far from the kitchen. I recommend using the little ordering kiosk to the left instead. It's much easier. The staff can come off short or a little rude, but I've also seen customers be pretty pushy, so it seems like they're mostly just focused on getting orders out without all the pleasantries and keeping things moving. I ordered the half chicken with rice and beans and mixed vegetables. The food is undeniable. The chicken is juicy with that perfect charcoal flavor, and the yellow sauce is ridiculously good. That said, the place itself could use some attention. The dining area was pretty dirty with crumbs and trash on the floor, and the tables didn't seem to get wiped down between customers (or ever?). It may just be because they're constantly busy, but it's noticeable. Also be prepared to wait. There are a lot of to-go and DoorDash orders, so even if it looks like only one person is ahead of you, there might actually be a dozen orders in the queue. I ended up waiting about 25 minutes before I asked about my order, and it seemed like it may have been forgotten or given to someone else. After that, it took another 10 minutes before I finally got my bag. Long story short: come here when you have time and aren't feeling sensitive. The food is excellent, but nothing else about the experience is particularly impressive. And honestly... I'm still going back . The chicken and that yellow sauce are just that good. Next time I'll probably try to order ahead though. Just know you can't order directly from their website, so you'll either need to call ahead or pay the higher prices on the delivery apps.

The fries were fresh cut and homemade. The spicy chicken sandwich was good as well. Not crazy spicy but very tasty. I thought the wings were good, very flavorful type of dry rub. I am a more wing sauce type of gal. After spending years in Buffalo; a bit of a wing snob. These definitely passed my snobbiness even if they weren't my favorite cup of tea. The staff was kind with generous portions and they always had a steady stream of patrons like you'd imagine for a hole in the wall. I did take off one star because of convenience to customers.
