In the future, I would advise this salon to be honest with customers who are asking for regular mani or regular pedi. If you have no regular polish, please just say "we only have gel here, sorry!" More details: We asked for regular pedicures and repeated it multiple times when they brought out what looks like the typical DND shellac two-pack with a color and a clear coat. We were confused, but they would not admit that it was a gel polish, so there were 2 problems: 1) they brought us the sample nails to pick a color, but the colors always looked very different on the nail. Of course they were never going to be cured under UV, so the color was different and more opaque. We had to keep changing our polish color through trial and error. (No guidance or assistance from the tech, by the way. It helps if the staff is familiar with the products they have. Imagine if they had true regular polish AND swatched that polish so we could select accordingly! A genius concept LOL ) 2) We waited well over an hour (no one checked on us or our nails during this time) after the polish application... and the polish never dried properly like a traditional regular polish would have. It kept smudging even after they "checked" that mine were dry. My cousin had it worse. They had to wipe her polish off (after we waited all this time!) And just re-applied once more. Complete waste of time. Regular polish is designed to air dry! We had to ask for fans multiple times, and even asked them to just consider curing the nails under the light so we could go home, but they just looked at us in confusion and re-painted the nails that would never dry and kept getting smudged. We went home and used a UV lamp we had to see if the nails would cure, confirming once and for all that it was gel polish that they used... guess what! They did! next time I am trusting my instincts. Oh, an additional issue was that I asked for a 3 pm appointment the day before and confirmed it over the phone. When I arrived at 2:50, I was told the appointment is actually at 3:30 and to come back. Clerical error on their part and they didn't admit it, so not a great first impression.

Nail appointments can sometimes just be sitting in silence for over an hour, which honestly isn't my favorite thing, so I appreciated that he was not only really talented but also enjoyable to chat with.
