Address 2021 Gibson St, Muskogee, OK 74403 (918) 683-2021 Our first time to visit this fine restaurant was Thursday, April 23, 2026, after learning about it from a dear friend. It was so impressive and the wide assortment of items on the buffet, was staggering. A wonderful assortment of salad items, and topping for that salad, potato salad, and dressings, then the main buffet, with many types of BBQ meats, such as ribs, chicken, fish, chopped pork, hot links, etc. Heated side dishes tater tots, mac and cheese, French fries are available. Not to mention a wide assortment of desserts, pies, cobbler, cake and don't forget the ice cream. If I left any items out of my list it was not intentional, as we tried everything. All was so delicious and so mouthwatering. We enjoy it so much, we made another return trip to this same restaurant, on Monday April 27th. The wait staff, and all employees were so gracious and friendly, they made us feel right at home. They checked on us regularly and made sure we did not need anything, or were lacking in anything for our lunch. What a wonderful restaurant and hospitable place to eat and enjoy the beautiful surrounds and decorations in this restaurant. You can enjoy the buffet or order from the menu, but we decided to go with the buffet, for the wide assortment of items that were there for the choosing, and oh so good. On our way back from running errands, my husband asked me what I wanted for lupper, after surfing some menus on an app I have, we decided on My Place BBQ off of Gibson right here in Muskogee. We had never been to this location before today. For our lupper my choice was a grilled chicken sandwich with no tomato, no lettuce, add extra pickles. My husband picked a pulled pork sandwich with BBQ baked beans and sweet tea. I was pleasantly surprised, the chicken was not a complete grease bomb. It cut smoothly, when I went to slice it up. I wish there was a way to order just a grilled breast of chicken without it being in a sandwich. I would also love to see more grilled/non-fried, gluten free options when it comes to sides, etc(just a thought). My husband and I will be keeping you on our Muskogee Munchies list. My Place East is how this is referred locally. There's a west side location too. People love the east side location because it has a pretty unique feature. A bbq buffet! It's nice to be able to try all the meats and sides. Great desserts. Friendly folks. It's like $20 per person but worth it if you go very hungry. You can order from the menu too, and they have a drive thru. I personally love west side best. But they are both delicious. read more

Great looking local bbq spot. Stopped by to get a bottle of sauce for a friend while in town. Ended up eating lunch. Sauce is good. Beans had a great unique flavor. I ordered ribs. They were at least a day or two old and reheated. Brisket sandwich was gray. Service was really good and compared to bbq spots in Texas was a good price. Love supporting local but they didn't even have a smoker so either using easy bake oven or bringing from another location. read more

This place is probably the worst place I have EVER eaten. It made my stomach hurt. It was recommended by locals during our business trip and all 3 of us that weren't from Muskogee were in agreement afterwards that it was the worst meal we have ever had!!! It was that bad!! The brisket texture, (if you call it brisket was gray and had no smoke ring, it was rubbery and just flat out awful!!) Nothing was smoked, everything was boiled and just flat out nasty!! I can't say enough how bad everything was. The sausage was boiled and nasty, the ribs probably came off a dog, (no wonder I never seen a stray dog the entire time I was there). If you're visiting Muskogee, stay away from this place, you'll thank me for it!! I'm sure I edit more tomorrow, but just wanted to get the word out. One more thing, if you are ethnic be prepared to have ALL eyes on you as you eat, as if you were from Mars. read more

Walked in, was welcomed by friendly staff. You can sit anywhere you would like. Right off the back they asked what I would like to drink. The sweet tea was terrific, right amount of sugar. As for the morale, it was high, everyone seemed to be enjoying a good time. The food was the most important event of this trip. I was greeted by a young man, I believe his name was Maverick. I asked him what he recommended. He said to try the buffet since you get many of the option on the menu. As I walked up to the buffet area, I was greeted with pulled pork, baked beans, Texas toast, fries catfish, links, bologna, pork and ribs. Choices were endless. As the choices were endless, some items I was dissatisfied. Pork was a little dry whereas I almost choke (not really). Two main dishes I very much enjoyed were the baked beans and the smoked pulled pork. Those two together were a creation sent from the heavens. My Place B-B-Q has been around for quite some time. As few people leave more come in. For a "first time" experience of coming to this family owned restaurant. I highly recommend going out and visiting this area. read more

Love this little restaurant. The purple is always great for their choices in the varieties of meats and sides. The salad bar is even top notch. Deserts are great ranging from cobbler's to Pies and even ice cream. I recommend trying all three barbecue sauces. This is a great little restaurant that shows real heart in our community. read more

Me and my family have been eating here every Saturday for over 45 years. Sometimes my wife and I eat here through the week plus on Saturday. Waiting staff is alway nice and if you need anything or your food isn't just right, they are there to help. Large groups eat here quit often but can usually find a place to sit. It is seat yourself so it's you pick on where to sit. The first My Place East was a hole in the wall but this building has plenty of space. All the food is good so you can't go wrong on what you order. They have a buffet with lots of food and if it doesn't have what you want just let your waitress know. You can order anything off the menu if you get the buffet. read more

I guess if you considered meat cooked in liquid smoke, BBQ then by all means enjoy. The ribs were overlooked and mushy. The "brisket" was soaking in a liquid smoke broth. They do have a $11 lunch buffet and once again if you come to believe this is true BBQ, then enjoy. I wasn't impressed. The fried chicken nuggets and French fries were good as was the cobbler. The BBQ was lackluster I attempted to use the Yelp coupon and they added an exception that it can only be used at dinner so be warned. The service was good and attentive. The place was packed so maybe I ordered wrong but as far as BBQ is concerned skip it. After some wrangling the coupon was honored but trust me. It still not worth the price. read more

Because zero stars isn't an option. Awful! I can't imagine how this place calls this food BBQ. Ribs were tough. Sliced brisket was flavorless and tasted like boiled meat product. It is what it is. When I grew up, it was extremely rude to wear a hat indoors. I can see two tractor caps and a cowboy hat from my seat. I am trying to determine where the sunglasses on the head fit, but I am leaning toward cap rather than hair peice retainer. The old guy with the cowboy hat has a bluetooth in his ear. When with company, that is also rude. So two rudes make one Evinrude? And as I type, Evin gets joined by another tractor cap (with a. Bluetooth earpiece also) and a young cowboy with no home training. Motorheads. Anyway, this place has been around since 1927. The buffett has a traditional collection of buffett-grade foods. Fried ocre, green beans, overcooked corn, a variety of pork and beef BBQ, ribs (placed in the buffett in dry rub state, and completely tender), and even fried catfish. Don't forget the Texas toast. To help with the protein overdose, a respectable salad bar has both spinach and mixed greens and all the country restaurant toppings. Everything was a solid mid-quality (it is a buffet in Muskogee). What makes it special is that the buffet as a whole was good and enjoyable. I ate too much. Of course, in case you just want to feel like you ate too much, tea and softdrinks (no beer) are served in 32 ounce glasses, Two things stand out. The french fries are freshly cut and served on request by the waitress. This is complementary with the buffett. We wanted a few, and she brought a few. She offered to bring more, but we got exactly what we wanted. Then she told us about the house made desserts. Everthing but the cherry cobbler was made on the premises. This included cheesecake, pies, lemon cake, and a bunch more. To this pleasant service consider that everyone working to refresh the buffett items asked if I needed something. Maybe I looked lost. They really were eager to help. A third, poplular item is the ice. It is similar to Sonic ice (this is Oklahoma, home to Sonic), but a little smaller. Apparently, it is unique in Muskogee to this restaurant. The waitress explained some people come, order bags of ice, and then have an order of french fries while they "wait" for the ice to be bagged. Only in America! (She could have been making it all up, for all we know,) Finally, if you give it a try, be mindful that it is a well maintained buffett, and you do not need to take all the ribs in the tray--more will come out soon. Unfortunately, a couple of patrons ahead of me did not get this suggestion. Eat well, tip well. read more

Wife and I live in Houston and were visiting family in the area. Family recommended "My Place " for BBQ. I was disappointed to say the least. Had buffet where all the meat was swimming in a mediocre sauce. Chopped beef looked like baby food. Sliced brisket wasn't much better. Plane jane vegetables made for overall disappointment of what My Place had to offer. Catfish was only thing I tried that was fairly good. Service was slow and waitress had to be flagged down for refills. Won't be back. read more

I love My Place! I have been a fan since 1971. I love the old place where My Place used to be. The "new place" is very nice, and they built a buffet, so we can all founder on BBQ and sides. The Mild Sauce has always been my favorite. I have at one time or another, tried everything on the menu but the fish. Never liked fish. Ribs, Fries and a Sweet Tea is my regular order. The Chopped Pork Sandwich is great, and so are any of the Plates. The waitresses are efficient and friendly. Not sure how fast the drive through is, but I know a few who work the kitchen, and I get great service. Plenty of parking spaces. If you can eat A Lot, Buffet is the way to go. We wear Cowboy hats, and caps with OU, OSU and Agriculture related brands, while eating our BBQ. That's the way we do things in Muskogee, Oklahoma USA read more

VERY DISAPPOINTED! Ordered 5 pounds of sliced brisket for a party for Father's Day, we pick up the food and get it to the party to find out it was chopped NOT sliced. It was cold and definitely not what we expected from this place. We have ate here a lot and always been great, but not this time. My husband called to let the manager know about the issue and he said there's nothing I can do for you. He told us to bring it back. We were having a party for 15 people and MAYBE a 1/4 of it was ate because it was awful. So now we have to find a different place to order from in the future because we WONT BE BACK. Was recommend by a friend. I ordered food for a takeout.. When I arrived to my destination, I reviewed my order. I could believe that they put my sliced beef in a styrofoam cup....2lbs of it in 2 styrofoam cups. The slices were the size of sashimi (tiny slivers of meat). That was unacceptable. To make matters worse, they left off the BBQ sauce in my order. Needless to say, I won't be back anytime soon. The food wasn't that spectacular anyway. read more

I was very surprised at the quality of the items offered in the buffet. Both the ribs and the catfish despite being kept in a heated buffer bin were very well done. No dry or bland meat. They only offered two BBQ sauces at the table one spicy and one tangy but both were great. I would have gladly paid more for my meal. read more

It may have been impossible for me to do a fair review of this place. 11 years ago we were driving through Muskogee and pulled off to eat at my place. The building looked like it had seen better days and the parking lot was packed. We pulled in and the food was great. My wife is a bbq fan for sure and she was really impressed. We've talked about the place over the years and I decided this year to get away for a couple of days we'd come to Muskogee and get bbq. We were disappointed as soon as we got there, the place had the look and feel of a Rib Crib. The service was fantastic and we ordered the buffet because it wasn't much more expensive than any other menu item and we figured that whatever we ordered would have been prepared to go to the buffet anyway. The chicken breast nuggets were excellent and the catfish was good. The ribs were average, and that's being generous, the brisket was nasty, it seemed boiled, no way was it actually smoked or grilled. The food quality was average at best. The cheesecake obviously was a box mix so I didn't touch it. We won't be back even if we are in Muskogee again. If your bbq isn't better than Rib Crib or Billy Sims you have serious issues. If looking for bbq in Muskogee try another option. read more
