The bologna, and hot links were outstanding. Great service, very friendly, and the smoker was rollin when I pulled up. The Black Southern Gospel music in the background made this a religious experience. Thank you Jesus for good food and great people to serve it.

Based on this experience, well, I can't imagine visiting in person. First the order. The intent was to have brisket with cole slaw and baked beans. The Togo container was conveniently labeled as CB CS & BB. When I opened the container a miracle had occurred and the sides the Lord decided I needed were potato salad and okra. And now the food. The chopped brisket is a mound of dry chopped meat mush, probably sauced but hard to tell, and fully lacking the smoky umami expected of BBQ. Holy Smokes there's no smoke. It's as if they borrowed their recipe and process from the Muskogee High School cafeteria. The sauce is interesting but not good. Not at all good. It has a hint of being like the Knotty Pines when that was open in Sand Springs but it's a poor quality mimeograph. Clearly made in house but by far not the best sauce in Muskogee, I gave praise that there was so little. The potato salad was a Glorified Side, but in that ironic sarcastic way that says purchased at Walmart in a 5 pound container. A friend had cole slaw, probably a convenience slaw, possibly a homemade dressing. But a common cole slaw with little to recommend it. The okra was excellent, but that's an expectation in Oklahoma. For $13.00, it was an $8.00 meal with untoasted bread. This was by far one of the least impressive BBQ meals I have ever had and I've had BBQ all over Oklahoma and Texas. So extremely disappointing and my money will be saved for somewhere that has basic BBQ down. Ok so now after writing this far I've learned (because my party ate in different locations in the office for social distancing) that the labels on several of the to go containers were wrong and I likely got pulled pork - which is so freaking disgusting and something I would never order or eat had I known and I'm going to go throw up. GAH. Absolutely unacceptable.

It was so impressive and the wide assortment of items on the buffet, was staggering. A wonderful assortment of salad items, and topping for that salad, potato salad, and dressings, then the main buffet, with many types of BBQ meats, such as ribs, chicken, fish, chopped pork, hot links, etc. Heated side dishes tater tots, mac and cheese, French fries are available. Not to mention a wide assortment of desserts, pies, cobbler, cake and don't forget the ice cream. If I left any items out of my list it was not intentional, as we tried everything. All was so delicious and so mouthwatering. We enjoy it so much, we made another return trip to this same restaurant, on Monday April 27th. The wait staff, and all employees were so gracious and friendly, they made us feel right at home. They checked on us regularly and made sure we did not need anything, or were lacking in anything for our lunch. What a wonderful restaurant and hospitable place to eat and enjoy the beautiful surrounds and decorations in this restaurant. You can enjoy the buffet or order from the menu, but we decided to go with the buffet, for the wide assortment of items that were there for the choosing, and oh so good. Thank you for your outstanding restaurant, that has been in Muskogee, Ok. 27 years, along with one on the West side of town, that has wonderful BBQ, you can order off the menu, but no buffet. It has been there over forty years. Thank you so much for this awesome restaurant, we just found out about. After living in Eufaula, Ok. for over 20 years+, this was a wonderful treasure to discover, just the other day. Sincerely, Randy and Gayle Cook Eufaula, Oklahoma

They were at least a day or two old and reheated. Brisket sandwich was gray. Service was really good and compared to bbq spots in Texas was a good price. But they've really stepped up their game with the restaurant side of the operation. The food is truly outstanding. The burgers rival any burger in Muskogee. The fried mushrooms are hand breaded and not just fried from frozen, and they are worth getting every single visit. The ranch is top notch. They offer a really delicious Saturday brunch menu, but I wish they would do Sunday brunch. They decorate big for Christmas every year, which is really fun. And they have a seasonal photo area that always has a cute backdrop. The only real struggle with Max's is consistent service. It seems like they are always short-handed and very slow. They take reservations for big groups, but don't actually use them, so you still have to wait, which defeats the purpose of reservations. But I'll continue to go for those fried mushrooms!

Potato skins are tolerable, and the ranch is made in house. Otherwise, this place is terrible and consistently the worst dining experience I have ever had in Muskogee. It takes at least 60-90 minutes to get your meal, which is usually wrong, and good luck getting drinks or appetizers. They are always woefully understaffed, and typically the staff seems like they hate being here as much as we do (tonight was an exception, staff was friendly). Included a photo of the updated fries in case you think they're the nice looking ones from years ago: nope, they're great value "McD's" knockoff fries. Thankfully this last experience convinced our group of friends to never return. Don't make the same mistake as us. If it was a single night of this, I'd give it a pass or wait and see. Well, I waited, and I saw, after 5-6 visits in here is just no salvaging the eating experience here.
