Took a suggestion from a coworker who used to live in Muskogee and he said he would come here when he was younger. This place did not disappoint! The waitresses were spot on and friendly. We were quickly seated and ordered our drinks. They were not much selections with regards to appetizers so I ordered fries & onion rings. The onion rings were great however, at $7.59 I'm not exactly sure of the price, but they were exactly what I wanted in an onion ring. I chose the Two Meat Combo, Turkey & Chopped Brisket w/Potato Salad & Cole Slaw. Both meats were delicious and the Cole Slaw was a true hit! The Potato Salad was also good. Everyone in the group liked what they got so a big shout out to Mahylon's for the excellent lunch. Even I was checking out thy the waitress days she had been working there for 27 years! Then she began to tell me dinner off the highlights on the menu. I wish I had the opportunity to go back and try them. Who knows I may just take a day trip up to grab lunch week my wife! The menu is extensive. That was nice to have so many options. However it kinda made it hard to know what is the best thing, given I had never been there before. They will serve you drinks in an ice cold mug (if you ask) and I loved that. Plenty of seating. Workers were nice, but it seemed it was one lady telling the other 5 what to do. And the other 5 didn't attend to the tables without the one lady telling them go do XYZ. I was enjoying the different choices on menu and all specials sounded delicious I choose the pork and I was not disappointed, it was cooked perfectly and the potato was just right. My friend had the 22oz bone in ribeye, that was amazing and he enjoyed it it. The only quarm was it was a little undercooked. Mahylon's has a definite following in Muskogee. I've had it a few times over the years, but I have to say, I just don't prefer it to other barbecue and steak choices in town. The food is good, and I would say that the steak is better than the barbecue selection. But it's quite expensive compared to other options for steak and barbecue. Ribs were cooked very tender, but the membrane wasn't removed and they lacked seasoning and flavor. The chicken fried steak is battered in what I would consider not the right type of batter for a chicken fried steak. It was more of a tempura or beer kind of batter versus fried chicken style batter that's typically used. It was also a bit over fried for me. The sides are tasty! And portions are large. Our waitress was very nice. And the inside is clean and welcoming. It's the type of place that if a group of friends want to go, I'll go. But I wouldn't choose it on my own over somewhere else for dinner. I've heard they have great brunch, so maybe I'll try it out! read more

We are frequent flyers here. I honestly know they don't need any changes. The food has been fresh when we visit each time. Fresh served food is a big deal in this town due to the "chained establishments" have fallen down hill right along service, quality, quantity, and variety. The servers here know how to treat you as a welcomed guest. I recommend the sliced brisket plate, with a garden side salad, and baked potato. Yes, the other food options are just as great, imo... A smoked hot link with a baked potato, or potato salad. Try a chicken wrap. My husband enjoys the smoked sliced turkey plate, gets his with double fries. Sweet tea is usually a plus each visit. Absolutely fantastic in every aspect. Great food (loved the ribs, but the "Rex Earl" salad is a must try - named after a legendary lawyer Rex Earl Starr). Service was wonderful. You will notice they seem to know all the customers that were coming in the door, which is a great sign of the loyalty they earned and the staff's attention to details. This is a special place. We called this morning at 9:30 am and requested food for 12-15 people, for a 1:30 pm pick up. The owner called us back within minutes with the most professional and helpful suggestions. We ordered brisket, potato salad, coleslaw, bread, cookies and brownies. He also suggested a gallon of tea and lemonade, plates and flatware and a styrofoam ice chest with ice and a disposable scoop. After the funeral we called and added 2 vegetarian wraps. All in all the most efficient and easy process ever! They gained a steady customer today . I did my homework on Yelp and found mixed reviews but had to check it out for ourselves. The restaurant had plenty of parking, the inside appeared to be clean with plenty of tables. A friendly waitress greeted us at the door and led us to our table and took our drink order. She said the menu was on the wall. I orders the 3 piece combo BB-Q with ribs, sliced brisket and bologna. My wife ordered chopped brisket. We both had baked beens and slaw for sides. It took an exceptional amount of time to get our meal (23min.) It shouldn't take more than 10 min to serve BB-Q. It is already cooked and only needs to be plated. The waitress was very friendly but was not very attentive. We did not see her from the time she took our order until she brought our meal. The means no drink refills until she brought our dinner. My food was good but nothing to write home about. My wife's chopped brisket was kind of tough. It all had a good flavor. I did notice the menu showed some specials for Steaks, Shrimp and pork chops. However there wasn't any prices. The waitress told us the reason they didn't put prices was because they were too expensive to post the prices. When she gave me the prices I had to agree. They were way to expensive for my wallet They did have their table spaced for COVID-19 however I did not see any other precautions. Service was average. They were very sexist- would only acknowledge husband. Worst BBQ we have ever experienced in our lives. For $29 (after tax) we got the 3 meat plate. Portions were tiny- it wasnt even a total of 12oz for 2 ribs, turkey, and brisket. It came with 2 sides and we ordered one more. Literally NOTHING was seasoned. The only seasoning you get is from their bbq sauce, which is literally just MSG, Old Bay seasoning, and brown sugar for their flavor. The brisket was dryer than the Mojave desert. It looks like they soak it in red food coloring to mimic an actual smoke ring. The turkey actually did taste of turkey and was not as dry, but had no seasoning. The ribs were burned. The okra was cooked too low and too long, and there was a puddle of grease in the bowl. It was, again, not even seasoned, and too dead to eat. The coleslaw was the same trash you get from the discount grocery store. The baked beans were from a can, but they add day-old shredded brisket and some of their "sauce" to make it "special." Words cannot explain how good the BBQ is here. Some of the best BBQ that I've ever had. My wife and I decided to try this restaurant for our anniversary and we were not disappointed. She received the 2 meat dinner and I received a chicken fried steak. We didn't go inside the restaurant to eat due to waiting to stay home and relax since we've been so busy lately. I really like the food but it is getting really over priced. The older lady at the window NEVER smiles, is NEVER friendly, and is rude. I asked instead of two sides to have a salad. Side salad mind you since I wasn't getting any sides since this was the substitution. She charged me $2.99 extra without even bothering to tell me when I asked for the sub. I am over this lady at the window! If you put people in front of the public you need to have someone that is at least friendly. Never once has her face changed from the scowl. I guess its permanent. We were in Muskogee from out of town and thought BBQ would be good. Have to say we were sadly disappointed. We love BBQ but THIS was NOT BBQ. Ribs were tender but no seasoning at all. Turkey was bland with no smoke. Pork was sliced pork loin and was tough with no BBQ flavor or smoke at all. Everything was cold including fries the kids had with their burgers. Overpriced and overrated. It's a shame the pitmaster has really lowered their standards since the last time I ate at the establishment. The burgers and fries are from frozen. The brisket is greasy. This whole experience has turned me off of the bbq I grew up loving my whole life. Once I got home I called a few locals and they all agreed and stated something to the effect "yeah, we stopped going their a few years ago". Well, why didn't anyone tell me? I could have saved 50$. They didn't even put any sauce in our to go bag even though I ordered the brisket plate. Horrible experience. It was good. I wish it had a little more smoke flavor. The okra was good as was the slaw. The beans tasted okay, but they were cooked to a mush consistency.
