    Seafood grill (specials menu)

My wife and I were at a distillery in Roxbury. We live in Danbury. I was looking for a quality food spot in between and newtown came to mind. So, knowing that Sugo existed, I immediately routed us to their location, as this is a place that's been on my list of places to try. Short view? Everything started great. But did not follow through. The service was awesome. Our waitress, and forgive me as I cannot remember her name, was amazing. When we arrived we observed her interactions with her child and it automatically endeared her to us. And, as a server she was absolutely top notch. We understand from conversations, that she often works the bar. Either way she is awesome and the bright spot of our experience. The ambiance of the place was beautiful. Super refined looking, albeit with uncomfortable chairs at the tables. But I'm not looking for "comfort" per se, I'm looking for beauty. And this spot hits the mark. The we began ordering. Off the cocktail menu, I ordered their version of a pina colada and it was tasty af but definitely weak. My wife ordered a dirty martini with bleu cheese olives that she felt was weak. After those, we each ordered French martinis, that were super lacking in all flavor save for vodka. So strong, a bonus, but not good. As an app, we ordered their calamari which I order everywhere we go. This one lived up to the standard. Nice, big, meaty pieces of squid. A good breading, and a decent (if not underwhelming) sauce. I ordered their version carbonara as a main, and it was likewise, underwhelming. It was over buttered and over creamed. Which, if one knows anything about a traditional carbonara, it involves neither butter nor cream. I get that this is a gastropub and as such they will take liberty with ingredients and traditions; however, if I can make a better one at home... what's the point? My wife ordered the seafood grill which included branzino and shrimp. The branzino was delicious (but slightly over), but the shrimp stopped everything. The shrimp was rotten. On the plate it smelled like an unclean barn. I will say, we had to bring this issue to the attention of our server, and she kindly and appropriately comped our latter two drinks as a result. This made us happy as the drinks comped over the price of the plate, however, the smell is one that stays with us. Even at the time of this writing. We finished up our meal. I took home most of my carbonara as I felt confident I could make it taste good at home, but that's not the point of dining out. If and when I spend this type of money on food, I expect it to be right. This experience was not right. And if it weren't for the server, this review would be a 2 star.

Sugo is our restaurant of choice. Recent favorites are the arancini, the lemon pasta and the pistachio cheesecake. Sugo serves lovely mocktails and the service is always on point. Always a great experience.

Met a group of friends here on a Friday for dinner and these 5 stars reflect all of our thinking. I ordered a burrata limon ravioli dish but our server advised they had run out of limoncello and did I have a second choice. No worries. There were at least 3 dishes I had considered so I ordered the stuffed pork chop. I started with a Caesar salad. It was OK. Kind of dry. But, take a look at the accompanying photo of The Pork Chop. It was cooked perfectly. Each bite was slowly savored. I had to share with my friends and they were delighted. It was served on a bed of delicious mashed potatoes. For dessert, it was just as challenging to choose. I went with the Sugo Cake. Take a look at that photo. I cleaned the plate. Our server was attentive and helpful and the manager stopped by to check in. He beamed when I told him about the pork chop.

Enjoyed my blood orange cosmo and the arancini rice balls! I ordered a steak that was on the special... asked for medium rare. Unfortunately it came so rare it freaked me out a little. Luckily it was dark enough I could pretend I didn't see how pink... lol It can be super crowded so be prepared for that! And their parking lot is so tiny. Had to park across the street

The first time I came here was in the summer with some friends. We sat outside and got a round of drinks with a charcuterie board. Sooo good! We had a fantastic time together. I ended up returning a year later for happy hour with a different friend. Again the cocktails were amazing and all of the food was soooo good! We tried practically everything and it was all excellent. The server was very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend!!!

Super festive, no detail overlooked! Certainly felt like Christmas from wine markers to napkin holders, it felt like a family holiday meal. Warm and welcoming, staff were all friendly and attentive. The clams casino were delicious, beef tenderloin special was cooked as ordered, and the pasta was delicious! The cocktails were also very nice. I look forward to returning!

Excellent happy hour spot with a huge food menu and $8 craft cocktails. We were treated politely by the friendly staff at Sugo. We loved the festive small decor- from the autumn napkin rings to the wine glass charms, these little touches added to our dining experience!

Sundays at Sugo are the best. You could enjoy a delectable prix fixe menu, available for just $32.95. This three-course offering includes an appetizer, entrée, and dessert, with plenty of options to choose from. His Picks: Petite Tuna Tartare Chicken Scarpariello New York Cheesecake Her Picks: Potato Gnocchi Linguine Vongole Chocolate Lava Cake And even have the option to complete the meal with their signature Sangria or one of their handcrafted cocktails on the menu, all priced at just $12. Beautiful interior and great service!

My first experience at Sugo Gastrobar was one I'd love to duplicate. The Christmas decor, food, prices and staff were all just right. We all enjoyed versions of the lunch special, having soups or salad, entrees and a dessert. It sounds like a lot for lunch but the portions were perfect for finishing there. Pleasing to the eyes and the belly was every plate that came out. We didn't have reservations and were lucky to get in before it got busy. I suggest making reservations to be certain you'll have the best experience.

Unassuming from the outside, this local treasure opens into a cozy restaurant and event space with exceptional food and drink. Between the crackling fireplace, plush lounge seating, warm wood accents, sleek bar, and navy banquettes, the atmosphere feels both inviting and refined. The bartenders and entire staff were warm, polished, and genuinely attentive, creating an experience centered around the guest. My martini was aggressively shaken and served in a short coupe, topped with a delicate layer of ice crystals; despite the chill, the vodka-to-vermouth ratio was perfectly balanced. It was garnished with stellar Castelvetrano olives, freshly opened and proudly presented as an elevated touch to the classic cocktail. As for the fare, it was hands down one of the best meals I've enjoyed in quite some time. The Wagyu coulotte was cooked to perfection, accompanied by expertly prepared oyster mushrooms and crisp shoestring tallow fries. I could go on and on about the experience, but I'll simply say I can't wait to return. The thoughtful details and genuine hospitality made for an outstanding night out. Today I ordered steak frites which is usually my Go To. Normally seared and seasoned beautifully with a medium center. Today was not seasoned at all, no sear to speak of and well done. I sent it back and our server advised us that they got a new kitchen staff. The second steak took 30 min and again was not seasoned, over cooked and grey. Extremely disappointing. And the serving of steak was half of what it had been. If this is the way they are going to move forward with the food I don't see good things for market place. On top of the steak.
