I GOT MY FIRST TWO TATTOOS HERE!!!! I had been wanting tattoos for over ten years, but I wasn't sure what to get. I finally decided on what I wanted, but chose to wait a year. I hear that if you're still excited about the tattoo(s) a year later, then you should get them. So that's what I did. I actually found this shop on Yelp. I saw their reviews and they had some awesome stuff. I wanted to see more work from specific artists, so I checked out their website. I wanted to get a tattoo that had a lot of straight lines, so I wanted someone that had a steady hand and good line work. I found the perfect artist! ANDY TRAN. This guy is awesome!!! Both of the tattoos that I was about to get were pre-existing images and I wanted them transferred with as much accuracy as possible. I saw that Andy had done some excellent line work in the past, so I decided to put my faith in him. I believed that Andy Tran could get the job done, so I decided to email him with the details. He replied the next day with a rough quote. I was happy with his rates, so I decided to make an appointment. Tattoo day. (about 3 weeks later) My appointment was in the evening. I walked in and the place was totally clean and everyone was really friendly. There was a regular customer there getting some work done as well. I immediately felt more comfortable. I wasn't really nervous, but I wanted to make sure that I went to the right place for my VERY FIRST TATTOOS. I met Andy, and he was super down to earth. I showed him printed images of what I wanted and he wasn't happy with one of them so he decided to look up some images on the internet. We spent about 40 minutes just finding the proper images and we finally found them! He was so diligent and professional. He wasn't about to give me a shit tattoo, so he wanted to find a good image. After this he decided to charge me. I paid him with CASH since it's CASH ONLY. He said that it would only take about two hours to complete, so I paid him for that. But before he started the tattoos he asked me if I had eaten. I told him no, because I hadn't eaten anything, so he told me to go to 7-Eleven and get some food. He said that he didn't want me passing out on him, so I took his advice and walked over to 7-Eleven while he prepped everything. After eating some food, Andy got started. Halfway through, he realised that it was going to take an extra hour to get the two tattoos done. I asked him if he was going to charge me for that extra hour and he said, "No, I already told you it was going to take two hours. So you're getting an extra hour for free. Ha ha." NICE!!! I was very fortunate. Approximately three hours later, the tattoos were complete. And they came out awesome!!! I couldn't be happier with them. Andy Tran did an amazing job! I uploaded two pictures of the tattoos. I got them back in April, 2014. One is an "R" from Rage Against The Machine and the other is a "V" from V for Vendetta. They need a touch up, which Andy said I would need from day one. I'm fine with that and it's free. I recommend this place to anyone looking to get their first tattoo(s) or if you're looking to get quality artwork applied to your body. They even came out is certain tattoo magazines. These guys are LEGIT! Oh, and DON'T BE A CHEAP BASTARD!!! MAKE SURE TO TIP YOUR TATTOO ARTIST!!! I think 15-25% is appropriate if they did an exceptional job. read more

Better make this review and do a shout out to Loc! I had to re-pierce my ears again because I am getting marry soon. I had my ears done with a gun 1st time around but my fiancé said getting your ears pierced via the needle method is more proper and comes out better, therefore we went to My Tattoo. Keep in mind an appointment is needed but Loc n Staff were nice and let us do a quick walk in. The procedure was well-explained and because my earlobe is a bit chubby, Loc took his time to explain the reason why he used a certain type of needle. It was very easy n quick. I went to my tattoo about 12 yrs ago. It was so long ago that it was only jess (now the big boss) and he did not have a single tat on his body at the time. Got kanji on the back of my neck. Good job. A yr or so later I brought a friend. Jess had gotten his first tat on his arm. He wouldn't show it to me when I curiously ask. Ok whatevs. Tats are good. Overall shop attitude: snooty. I don't need the attitude, so I got an additional 25 hrs of ink at shogun tat in pas. Not a typo. 25. Now I will be going to peter gunz in Arcadia. I researched it and his reviews r amazing. My tattoo it's like they buy into the whole bad ass attitude that goes w tats. That's fine but u r a business and u need some customer svc bc u r not the only shop with good work. Other shops do just as good work but they r nice. I was told the appt was 1-3 yrs later. R u kidding me? Then y does it say walk-ins welcome on the wall? Think ab the logic, there is no way that makes sense. When something smells fishy, there's smtg they r hiding. I think appts r schedule so far in advance so ppl don't show up n they keep ur deposit. I'm 3 sessions deep into a large halfsleeve project that Andy has been working on for quite some time now.. He's been in charge of the whole creative process from beginning to end and I've been very happy thus far.. It's my first time working with Andy, since my previous two pieces were wonderfully done by Kohei, but this was a more complex sleeve so I was recommended to him.. I sat on a design for like 6+ months debating on which place I wanted to go to to get my first tattoo. Its like popping a cherry for the first time you know. I've been to a few places just to observe how the tattoo practitioner did his or her brush strokes. Each time I went, the artist was a non Asian who didn't know jack squat about the meaning of doing an Asian character. Turn off. When I heard about this place, I started to do some research before anything else. When I walked into My Tattoo, I didn't really know what to expect. I showed one of the guys the design I wanted and he got to work right away on tweaking the design to make it tribal style. The guy who tatted me up was Kohei. He was soft spoken, looks like a Yakuza, very patient and totally an AWESOME guy! He took care of me like a soldier. Kohei told me the design I wanted was a first time project for him to do. I feel honored to be his first test subject guinea pig for this kind of design. It was a Chinese lion and a Malaysian dragon that you would see being performed during the Chinese New Year or Autumn Moon festival season, but tribal style. He went over the design with Lucy, who seemed like she was the Alpha dog on Chinese arts before he placed the stencil on my arm. We went through several phases of placing the stencil properly on my arm. People were coming in and out inquiring about tattoo designs and what not, so I understand the stress the staff here have to put up with; hence the Rockstar Energy drinks and wisecracks. I'm not gonna say how long it took to tat up my arm, but I can tell you after sitting there for a few hours, it was totally worth it! I thought I was going to doze off in my chair until Kohei started to fill in the stencil on the bone of my arm. Bone rattling! For a stylistic and quality tattoo, don't rush the artist. He may screw you the wrong way lol Pros: * Staff is friendly, knowledgeable of the arts and culture, also really creative and focused. * Affordable, even for a college student like me. They work with you, so don't trip. * CASH ONLY (They're Asian like that) Cons: * Small parking lot (not to worry, there is a plaza next door, so you can park over there too) * Wait time seems long if the place is busy. There are so many things I can say about artist Lucy Hu.. she's an incredibly gifted artist, has the best personality, really pays attention to detail, is very professional, and.. I could go on. I had 3 Chinese characters on my back that I had been wanting to place lotus flowers around for years but was waiting to find the right person to ink it. That's when I found Lucy at My Tattoo. Her waiting list was 1.5 years and I knew she was worth the wait, so I had a lot of time to get excited. I followed her on Instagram during my waiting period and got more excited with every tattoo she posted, her work is just amazing. Seeing all of the different styles she created only added to my confusion as to what type of lotus flowers to get. As my appointment got closer, my gut told me to trust her because she knows what she's doing. When my big day arrived, Lucy drew up some flowers and patterned them in a way that was flattering to my body. It took two appointments to finish the tattoo and I couldn't be happier. Her design far exceeded anything I had thought of in my own mind, it really is a piece of art that I'm proud to wear. I can't recommend Lucy Hu enough and the staff at My Tattoo are great too. Came here today for my next tattoo endeavor. Made an appointment with Andy a week ahead of time and put down the $20 deposit. Andy was very patient with my insistent placing of the stencil on my shoulder. We literally cleaned and placed the stencil at least four times to make sure it was JUST right, and even then he was still nice about it. After getting advice and acknowledgement from Lucy, he went ahead with the actual tattooing. The tattoo itself took about an hour to an hour and a half. Throughout the whole time, me and Andy had casual conversations, which at times included Man. Andy did an awesome job with my piece and he's such a down to earth guy. I was a little hesitant about coming here to get a tattoo done, since I'd never been here for that reason before but I'm glad I did. Everyone that works here is so nice, they truly act like a family. Andy did a great job with my tattoo and was very knowledgeable and patient. If I do decide to get anything else done, this place will definitely be my first choice. read more

Please don't come here if you want a piercing from Mackenzie !This place used to be the go to for piercings. I haven't gone back here in 5-6 years & Man Yao was my piercer and he is the best! I don't think he works here anymore though. But back to Mackenzie since he has such great reviews that I feel the need to save the next person who decides to come here for a piercing from him. So, I called to ask if they do smiley piercings which he responds "yes, for 60$." He then tells me the risks etc and he asked if that's okay with me. I said yes. Then he tells me ok it'll be 70$. I caught him and asked him "so it's not 60$ anymore ?" He goes "No that was the old price." WTH right ? But my annoying ass really wanted the piercing right away so I didn't care about the fact that he straight up lied about the price and because the location was close by so I didn't care. Once I got there, place looks cramped up now. The vibe was dark and the workers there was stuck up and not welcoming whatsoever. Mackenzie walks up to me, not so welcoming either. He is a short Asian guy with plugs. He talks like he don't want to do any piercing on me. The vibe was hella weird. He then goes to the back to set up , without me being there to watch him. Which I find that odd. So once me and my boyfriend walked in the back. Mackenzie checks my frenulum and he literally just stares at me for like a good whole minute without saying a word. I felt so uncomfortable! He then says "I can't do it cause your frenulum is too thin. I could be a dick and take your money and do it but I don't want to." the fact that he has that option in his mind, that's crazy. No wonder he stared at me for a long time possibly debating if he wanted to rip me off. After all that awkwardness, I decided not to get anything else done from him. Another thing that made me upset was that my boyfriend was nice enough to tip him 10$. When literally Mackenzie didn't do anything but look into my mouth & stared at me awkwardly for a long time. Mackenzie even had the nerve to take the 10$ knowing he didn't do anything! What a fool. Once we left , I told my boyfriend about how he up the price on the phone , he was mad and said he wouldn't have tipped him the 10$ if I told him sooner :x oh well. You live and learn. I ended up going to this lady named Maya in Pomona to get my smiley piercing! She is a certified professional. She also let me watch her set up. She even told me my frenulum was fine to get a smiley and that Mackenzie is not experienced. It's been 3 days & my smiley piercing is perfectly fine. The 35 mins drive to Pomona was wayyyy worth it than driving 10 mins to My Tattoo. Thank god something stopped Mackenzie from infecting me though. Lol Overall please don't get any piercings from here unless you're okay with being ripped off. :) read more

Came in and told them I wanted a naval piercing and I went straight to filling out consent forms and whatnot. They're super informative and reassuring and I felt at ease. Duy helped me and he was calm and super nice and funny. He introduced himself to me and explained step by step everything he was going to do and as he was doing it. He asked if I was nervous and reassured me that everything will be okay! I really liked how he did the whole "breathe in, breathe out" method and it really helped me not think of the pain at all. This review is for Lucy Hu. I didn't actually get tattooed at My Tattoo but at a Tattoo convention in NH. I was extremely lucky to get a tattoo with Lucy since I knew she had a long waiting list and she just happened to have a day open during the convention. I drove 4 hours from NYC to meet her there and it was totally worth it. I got water color cherry blossoms and showed her a picture of a tattoo she did in the past that I wanted the same style. From there on I told her she could do what she thought was best. She took 30 min to freehand the design on my thigh and hip to show me a general idea and then from there she tattooed me for 5 hours with 1 small 5 min break. This was also my first tattoo so I was a little nervous. Lucy made the whole experience fun and as least painful as possible. She told me funny stories and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. I was extremely happy with the end results and would recommend Lucy to anyone looking to get tattooed in her style. Lucy's rate is high but it is worth it for something that will be on your body forever. She is extremely skilled in her style. Personally, I've never been here before, but we've passed by this place for years and decided to give it a try since my brother didn't want to go Claire's. Service is great here! When you walk in, someone greets you! They're all super friendly. The earlobe piercing came out to be $27, because there was a 10% for checking in. They don't provide or sell any aftercare/ cleaning solution/ sea salt spray for your ears, so you'd have to go get that elsewhere or make your own. That'd be my only complaint, but Alex was super super patient with us. He even got a second person/co-worker to double check his markings before piercing it. He was easy to talk to and made the process less fearful for my brother who was actually really scared hah! The parking is kind of hidden. You have to be on the same side of the street to see it.
