I came in for downsizing my two piercings after about 2 months since the initial piercing. I'm happy to report the appointment went smoothly and apparently everything is healing really well, which of course allowed for the downsizing to happen. Kat did the downsizing procedure this time and she was just as cool to work with as the first time I saw her. Kat's great because she makes you feel so comfortable and she really takes her time to explain what she's doing every step of the way. Switching out the helix post was nice and easy, the flat was a little more tender and a tiny bit painful (it got bumped a few more times during healing so far compared to the helix due to its location), but it calmed down after about 20 minutes, so it was not a big deal at all. Kat also told me despite the bumps/snags the flat experienced, the piercing was still lying perpendicular the way it was initially pierced, which is good news. Downsizing costs $15 per post and $10 for the service + tax. You get to keep your old posts too. Best of all, just like last time, they sterilize everything. It's now been a couple of days since downsizing and everything feels and looks great! Looking forward to these piercings healing up nicely, I can't wait! Jul Head reminds me of Maria Tash but a distant grunge chic cousin who likes a pop of color and crazy geometric designs. They do piercings here. Walk-in and appointments available. Apparently no navel or nipple piercing here per their website. Jul is a more luxury shop due to the many unique designs and offerings. A lot of offerings from BVLA. That being said-- you get what you pay for. The items are mostly some sort of 14k gold or higher. I'm not sure if they have stainless steel as an option. That being said, they have gorgeous pieces that you probably won't find elsewhere. I went to a piercing shop on Melrose on the West side and their offerings can't even compare to the pieces at Jul. So if you're willing to spend 100-700 bucks for some fine jewelry this is definitely the place. I saw a gold Chinese dragon. Definitely would look cute as a flat. Again-- pieces you can't find elsewhere. I had a thread less piece that got stuck. I wanted to switch to a non-thread less piercing for my flat. They were able to get it off easily and sized me for a new earring easily. Parking in the garage on the street next to Starbucks is the easiest spot I'd recommend. read more

If you want your piercings done right, and done with care, come to JuL Head! I've had several piercings done here over the years and it's always a great experience. It's a small business in Alhambra that makes sure to take care of each customer. Be aware that JuL Head only deals with high end quality pieces -gold and titanium (perfect for my sensitive ears and still look great years later!), but the staff are incredibly respectful of everyone's price points and are transparent about pricing. The staff don't pressure or rush you when selecting jewelry and they always offer solid advice on what's most suitable and is the best placement for your piercings (everyone's anatomy is different). I have been here multiple times over the years now with Boge as my piercer and she is incredibly skilled. She is the absolute best and her calm and friendly demeanor really makes you feel comfortable throughout the entire process. My helix piercing fell out so I wanted to get new jewelry. I got that helix piercing here years ago and they were so nice and made me feel so comfortable so I knew I wanted to come back. I had questions about if a stud or a hoop would stay in better, if it's possible to develop an allergy to gold, prices of different jewelry that I was interested in, etc. Boge and Lev were so welcoming and gladly answered all my questions. I did get the service of getting my jewelry inserted as well. I didn't have an appointment so they estimated 30 mins wait but it was quicker than that. The insertion was also easy and painless, done by Boge, she made sure I liked my piercing and the size. I paid $98 for the jewelry and $10 for the insertion service. I had a great experience here once again and always recommend this place to my friends. I plan to get my second lobes pierced again and will definitely come back here! read more

I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to write this review. I first discovered them back in 2016 and haven't gone to another piercer since. I've tried to spontaneously go to someone else with friends, but never feel comfortable enough to follow through. I've had piercings done by both Bone and Kat and they were both equally amazing. They sweetest people and so knowledgeable. They truly know what they're doing and have a great hands/eyes for it. Everything about going to Jul Head is so simple. From making a reservation online to the whole piercing process in store. The hardest thing about the whole process is deciding what jewelry to get because they have such a wide selection of GOOD jewelry! I went in, desperate for help because my 14 year old inaccurately pierced her ears. Not only was piercing slanted, she also used costume jewelry on the tender wounds. Originally, I was going to just purchase new hypoallergenic earrings for my daughter. But Boge and Kat thoroughly explained why we have to let those wounds heal, and very skillfully gave my daughter a lesson about safety in piercing - why you should always seek a professional and the dangers of poking around on your body. They removed the earrings, sanitized and made her promise that there is a time for everything, so don't rush into it. I didn't spend a dime. These two reminded me of the good days when we can trust our neighbors, when people are genuinely good and kind and simply cares. There was no overstepping, completely respectful and easy to hear. She is super helpful and does an excellent job at calming you down before hand, explaining things thoroughly, and helping you find the right jewelry piece for you. She went above and beyond to help me find the exact pieces I wanted and needless to say, the helix piercings she did were quite painless. I didn't realize how fun it could be to spend so much time on a website and then visiting the store in person. Made this visit even more fun and easier. They have a lot of jewelry to choose from, something for everyone, and the staff is lovely. I realized last time I was here to park nearest to Starbucks and once again picked up my drink before hand. Brought my pup with me and came to realize they are all pet lovers and so welcoming. I asked for some water for the pup and so generously obliged. My daughter wanted to get her second ear lobe piercing so I decided to take her here instead of the mall. They sell a variety of Titanium and Gold earrings. ::Experience:: When we walked in Rebecca welcomed us. She confirmed the appointment and also requested for the identification. The earrings were displayed in glass cases. My daughter was indecisive but thanks to Rebecca, she helped us find the perfect earrings. When it was time for her piercing, Boge explained the process. She was so sweet and friendly. They don't use the piercing gun so my daughter was anxious about the needle. My daughter said it hurt but she was able to take the pain. Boge also explained the healing process and the instructions on how to clean it. She was very thorough! ~Important~ Piercing for 7-17 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Also, needs to show the birth certificate and ID. ::Customer Service:: -I spoke to Robert on the phone to confirm the appointment. He was professional and so polite. I had an issue with one of my piercings and felt that I needed it checked out. Thankfully, Jul Head had a last minute appointment opening so I was able to be seen that same day. The shop is deceptively large, with giant, gorgeous displays of jewelry along the walls. I love the decor and the vibe, and I wish I had more time to check out all the jewelry they offer. I first spoke to the person at the front desk. He took a look at my ear before letting me know that I would need a longer bar. Something I really appreciated was that both he and the person who later changed out my piercing always asked permission before touching me. Really intentional, really respectful! There was a bit of a wait while my jewelry was being sterilized, but in that time I chatted with the guy I first spoke to, and saw other customers receive help with picking out jewelry. The person helping really knew her stuff, and was patient as the customer went through her options. She was very detailed in explaining some of the functional details of the pieces, and how they might affect the customer's ear and life. The person who changed my jewelry was so gentle, I didn't feel a thing! She also did a good job of explaining why my piercing was irritated, as I couldn't figure out why before. I had my nostril pierced by Kat in 2017 or 2018. She did great work, and the piercing healed beautifully. I had been wanting a septum piercing for awhile, but I was too scared to make an appointment in advance. I was worried about the pain, and concerned that I'd be a no show (due to my fears) and lose my deposit. So instead of going to Jul Head, I decided to get my septum pierced on a whim while on vacation earlier this month, on a day when I was feeling brave. HUGE MISTAKE! The dude I went to pierced it too low, and it was crooked. He blamed it on my "crooked nose" and told me I didn't need to clean it. Very worrisome behavior. I was so bummed, but I was also optimistic that it could be fixed with different jewelry. I made an appointment to see Kat last week so that she could check my piercing and make jewelry recommendations. I could immediately tell by her expression that it was BAD. She said it was not placed properly and recommended removing it. She helped me do that. I saw her again this past Monday, and she repierced my septum for me. IT LOOKS PERFECT NOW! It's exactly how I wanted it, a snug hoop. The pain really wasn't that bad at all; I barely felt the actual poke. And Kat is so very nice... I really enjoyed chatting with her. She calmed me down a lot. She also recommended a product to clean the piercing, which I purchased, and gave me thorough aftercare instructions. Thank you so much Kat and Jul Head! It's been awhile since I had a piercing and I decided to go back to them; very happy I did. There is a lot of information on their website (pricing, aftercare, FAQ, online shop, appointments, etc.). I easily made an appointment to get a helix piercing. This is my first time having an outer ear piercing with a needle. Kat asked me if I wanted to re-pierce the same area and I asked her recommendations. I asked her to draw where she would recommend and I approved the new location. Very happy with the piercing. I spent 10 minutes browsing the jewelry before getting pierced. Lots of options and Kat was very helpful. They only have gold jewelry (extra $75 for gold backing otherwise they offer titanium free of charge). Fair priced- jewelry that includes the piercing. I ended up going with my jewelry that I got from them years ago when they offered full titanium. I definitely would recommend. Everyone is super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I've been coming to JulHead since 2017-ish. My little sister and I wanted nipple piercings to match Kendall and Kylie Jenner so we impulsively started googling piercing places in SGV. JulHead popped up and we made an appointment immediately. We were so nervous to get our nipples done but Kat was so sweet and helped calm our nerves. She has the friendliest demeanor and has the featherist fingers! We got there, signed our concent forms, picked out the jewelry and went into the back room. You don't feel the sharp pain which I love. We were in and out in no time. The healing process was smooth because they use top tier jewelry and Kat is an amazing piercer. It probably took 8 months to a year to fully heal. Fast forward to January 2022, I decided to add more ear piercings. We made an appointment and came into the shop. Right away greeted by Robert who is the sweetest and so funny! He definitely knows how to brighten a room. He gave us suggestions for jewelry and had us sign the consent forms. I got my right conch done with a rose gold stud. Love it! After a few months of healing, November 2022, I decided to swap the stud for a hoop and get my right rook pierced. We made another appointment and greeted my both Kat and Robert. Again, so sweet and friendly! Which is so nice to have at a piercing place. Kat swapped my conch for the gold hoop and did my rook. Again, little to no pain!!! You felt the pressure of the needle but that's it. It's all about your breathing and Kat timed her piercing with my breath perfectly. Afterward, Robert took our pictures and his banter was so friendly and funny. Expect to get top tier quality here. Jewelry and the service. I am loyal to this shop because of those things. I bought a custom nose ring for my wife for our anniversary, and JuL Head bent it without her being present in the room, and they bent it at the wrong part of the post. My wife walks in for a fitting and it's pushing against her septum, JuL Head does not offer to fix it, and says if they try it will "look janky". (Scroll down for a photo of what they had her walk away with.) The woman who ruined the piece says if my wife didn't like their job, to just buy more jewelry! Problem solved. My wife said, calmly but insistently, after multiple opportunities for JuL Head to take responsibility, "if you are not willing to a repair this piece, I will take take it to a shop that will". Their cashier ROLLED HIS EYES and said "well THAT escalated quickly!" What else can I say. Look at the photo--this was supposed to be a stud, and it cost hundreds of dollars. If you want your jewelry ruined without recourse, take it to JuL Head. They never even bothered to contact me after leaving the shop. I've gotten all sorts of automated emails from them. I always liked going here but the last time I went I had a terrible experience. Gouch or whatever she calls herself refused to change out my piercing. She said it was too soon. I had already had a lip piercing but I let it closer so I only needed to have it repierced. I have never had any issues with my piercing. I went back after two weeks and she refused to change out the piercing. She said I had to wait two months. She did her best to be nice/ nasty. I was pierced somewhere else and felt like that piercer wasn't as nice or patient with me. So I DM'ed Jul Head on IG to ask for assistance with a bump I had on my tragus. They were super helpful with tips and encouraged me to stop by so a piercer could take a look. I happen to be in the area last Thursday and stopped by. Robert was at the counter and was super funny and welcoming. He told me that I would have to wait as I didn't have an appointment and they had some people waiting. I waited maybe 10-15 minutes and then Boge took me in. She told me my bump was gone and I could downsize! She said wait time would be an hour but encouraged me to return at a later date. Peter told me the same thing on my way out and told me to book an appointment. I went back on Sunday and Boge was super patient with me as I picked out a new top for my tragus. When I finally did, she put it to sanitize and then called me in. She was so fun!!! We had a really funny conversation and she was as gentle as possible with my piercing. The top itself was pricey (compared to the titanium I had) but well worth the money since I wanted gold and diamonds. I am super happy and would love to come back! Also, love that the staff are vaccinated and are taking the time to verify vaccination status from their patrons. It definitely made me comfortable to be in a smaller area with others. i made an appointment ahead of time and got my helix (cartilage) & my second lobe piercing pierced at julhead in late may! to make an appointment, there is a $50 deposit that goes into your final cost. the prices are a bit on the higher end, but they do only carry genuine gold (white, yellow, rose, black) i think my total cost was around $300 for all 3 piercings, ($80/lobe piercing) & ($160 for my one cartilage piercing) + tip. i also purchased the saline wash here, which id recommend since theyre all around the same price at your local drugstore etc. the staff are knowledgeable and helpful in choosing your jewelry and also with piercing you! i believe Boge pierced me and she was fast & steady. surprisingly my lobe piercings hurt more to get done, but the helix piercing was definitely sore for a lot longer. just a tip: they will not let you get both helixes on both ears done at once to save you from the pain of having two sides of your head in pain! read more

During Covid you need to book your appointment online through their website. When you come inside you will be asked what piercing you'd like or an idea what you're looking for. If not, they will give you some suggestions by asking you what you have in mind. Then you will be asked to sign a waiver. After that you get your piercing. They will then give you instructions on aftercare. In conclusion, I will always highly recommend this shop to anyone I ever meet or friends that are interested in getting a piercing.
