If you are on NV160 passing through Pahrump , as we were on a long family RV trip, there is a place you can for some pretty awesome Thai food. We stumbled across "My Thai" two years ago and returned there with excitement when our travels took across Nevada towards Death Valley. Looking pretty spare from the outside and at the end of a small strip mall/gas station, My Thai is operated by a Thai family who felt they had better chances in Pahrump than Las Vegas. You'll probably be waited on by Max, a soft spoken young man with a witty sense of humor. If the service is slow, it is not for his lack of hustle and is, in our opinion, offset by the food. The menu is extensive, especially when you consider where you are. With each dish, you can specify the degree of heat. Having been in Bangkok a few months ago and falling in love with Pad Thai from a street market, I ordered the Pad Thai Chicken, medium heat. The presentation was excellent and authentic, as were the flavors. The glass noodles were good, but thinner than I prefer. The best dish on the table was the Pad See Ew with its thick, meaty noodles and savory sauce. Order it and let everyone else know you won't be sharing. read more

Family run resturaunt. Mom does the cooking and her son Max takes care of the customers. Max does a great job of making you feel comfortable and making recommendations. He always seems to remember you and what your preferences are. Sadly, the quality of the food has suffered recently. We've been coming here for years, and it used to be a great restaurant (I've rated it 5 stars before). Now it's just another Thai restaurant. Certainly nothing to go out of your way for. We just went into this place for lunch. It took 15 minutes to take our order and we had the Tuesday lunch special. After 30 minutes we still didn't received our cup of soup, so I flagged the waiter down and asked if we get soup, I was told that this wasn't fast food, this place was cuisine and if we were in a hurry we needed to go someplace else. In the middle of Pahrump, this was a complete gem of a find. Thank u, Yelp reviewers, for leading me to it! Not only is it one of the best Thai food restaurants in Las Vegas, it's possibly better than most Thai restaurants I've had in LA! Very authentic food and super attentive service! Panang curry is a must! So flavorful. At level 1 spicy, we were glad it wasn't any spicier. Papaya salad complemented the curry well -- very refreshing on a hot dry Nevada weather. Location wasn't too out of the way from the main part of downtown Pahrump, just about 3 miles or so. There was a steady flow of take-out customers, mostly fobby old Asian ladies. Hands down THE BEST restaurant in Pahrump. Excellent service, high quality food, I'm not sure whether I'm happy or upset that this absolute gem is so far out of town. Eat here often enough, and the waiter will start to remember what you order. Extra points-- its BYOB! Bring a six pack or a bottle of wine and enjoy an excellent meal. Dishes are flavorful but the spice level is higher..the two stars are more for the experience with the waiter/owner? He talked pretty condescending at times and was pretty arrogant. When we refused to box the leftover since it was very spicy, he was pretty pissed and said he will fix it and forced us to take it with us. Absolutely, unequivocally the BEST food between Los Angeles and Las Vegas! And arguably the best Thai food we've ever eaten anywhere, anytime. Max is a stupendous host and waiter. The Panang Curry is simply the most exquisite thing I've ever eaten in my life but everything on the menu is a treat. We eat here EVERY chance we get. My Thai is a hidden gem of the desert. Honestly this city doesn't have that many good restaurants. This place wasn't bad but it wasn't the best Thai I've had. My mom ordered the green curry and loved it. I got the tom yum noodle soup and it was good but I wasn't satisfied with the soup. I guess it wasn't as sour and strong as I'm used to. The biggest reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is because of the wait. It took us over an hour to get our food. Sure there were a lot of people in the restaurant but that was still a long wait. Thai food is Thai food. Don't give me "it's cooked to order. " An hour wait to eat is beyond ridiculous. There is no excuse. We came here the other day on a drive to Death Valley and were looking for a quick place to stop and cool down. We were not expecting to have the best Thai food we have ever eaten, so this place deserves serious recognition. The restaurant is tucked away in an unassuming building, but as you enter you know immediately you are in good hands. The service was friendly and considerate. You could see how clean the kitchen was with everything freshly prepared. We were given great recommendations and I'm still dreaming about the green curry with tofu. My other half ordered the aubergine with pork and although he did not have much of an appetite finished it all as it was so delicious. I wish we lived nearby as I would be hear all the time. I am a visitor to Pahrump a few times a year and absolutely insist on visiting this restaurant each visit. This is the best Thai restaurant I have ever been to. The food is amazing and I highly recommend the drunken noodle with the spice level cranked all the way up to a level five. Max is the only server for this small restaurant and the food is made when ordered so be prepared for a lengthly visit on most occasions. Today was an exception to the rule, with timely efficiency Max made the lunch stop quick and enjoyable and our to-go order was ready when he dropped the check at the table. Perfect service although I did miss the quiet bits of Wisdom or artistic expression which Max usually offers up with his table side manner. Max is an amazing artist and if you have the time, inquire about his work. His patience is expressed in his soft spoken demeanor and amazing pencil drawings. The daily special is normally the best value on the menu but I have never had anything not worth trying again. The curry is delectable with the perfect blend of Thai spice and heat. I called just before 8 PM (when everything in Pahrump seems to close) to see how late that they were open. Yes, I was informed that they closed at 8, but was invited to get take out. That would work. I decided to try a Pad Thai with a mix of chicken, pork, beef and shrimp. By the time that I arrived 10 minutes later, it was waiting for me. The restaurant is in a nondescript building beside a gas station in the desert a couple of miles outside of Pahrump, Nevada. But it is worth the time and Google maps to find this place. This small restaurant is run by a local Thai family and prepares authentic Thai meals with skill and a large measure of grace. When bringing the third course of our meal I reached to move a bowl to make room on the table and the waiter turned to me and said, "Do not worry, I will move the plate. I will take care of you." It had a zen like feel from his soft, monotone voice. The appetizer plate was good but not great. The soup was the reason I came to Nevada and thought of buying a distressed home just so I could come back and have the soup nightly. The shrimp soup had many large prawns and a perfectly balanced red curry and coconut broth. Flavors of lemon grass and ginger softened and enhanced the palate. We enjoyed the Pineapple Fried Rice, but the soup was the best Thai soup I have had anywhere, and I have been to Asia and never had soup this good. The service was excellent in all respects. What a great little place. It really is out in the middle of nowhere and as we searched for it we wondered if maybe it had closed down. The small cafe is set in a gas station parking lot. We seated ourselves and were greeted by the son of the owner. He was adorable in his enthusiasm. This is just a tiny little restaurant in a strip mall in Pahrump. The waitfor our food took almost an hour. The waiter told jokes, some of which we could make 77 others which we couldn't figure out anything of what he was saying. Great food. Place was busy and with only 3 people working there, the service was extremely slow due to lack of staffing. The sole server is super nice, but cannot possibly take orders (explain Thai food spice), seat, serve & bus the tables! I ordered stir-fry veggies with crispy pork with a 4 spicy. The food was great, but there was absolutely no spice, which totally changed the food. My husband had fried rice with chicken & shrimp. There were 2 shrimp?! Overall, a good place (especially by Pahrump standards). They need at least one more employee! We were there 2 hours (and it's really not the kind of place you hang around all night.) we will definitely try them again (probably to go this time). Outstanding food. Absolutely Terrible wait times. It sucks when you wait 90 min for 2-3 plates. The food is fantastic but it is never less than 75 min wait, no matter what day of the week. They know it's a problem and have never attempted to resolve the issue. If you have 1.5 - 2 hours and plan accordingly it's really good food. OMG! This place is horrible. Anybody who thinks this is good Asian food, has never had good Asian food. I watched them cook my food. They threw a handful of veggies and hunks of chicken in a cold teflon skillet and set it on the stove. Result? Overcooked soggy vegetables with no taste whatsoever.
