My poor Asian grocery stores. They don't have the best reputation. They're not that clean, but grocery prices are reasonable here. I always get their fresh Asian vegis and they do have a lot of sales. They also have a banh mi next door if you're hungry. Parking does get a little crazy here, but if you go in the late evening, it's pretty wide open. I do come here for my Asian supplies. read more

The supermarket is clean with lots of friendly staff! This is definitely a place where the local community likes to come shop, and even people from out of town who drives 3+ hours to come here. There is fresh soy milk and tofu that comes in at least 3 times a day! They have all the popular food and snacks, and you can even get fried fish and crab here. Fun, new for me, asian market place. I loved that they had a variety of new items that you can't find at the local grocery stores near me. Their seafood section was wild! First time I see a packed group of live frogs for sale. Their live crabs were massive! The entire seafood selection looked properly clean and fresh. The service was there, but they weren't exactly going out of their way to see if you needed any help. I only scored this 4 out of 5 stats because the prices were higher than what I expect them to be. This supermarket looks like a vintage market, with most of their store, shelving and refrigeration looking from the early 90s if not earlier. It could be fun to walk around if you like walking into something that looks kind of like a time capsule, or if you just want to get your usual Asian groceries, this is a good place for it. Firstly, I do want to mention that the parking here is quite insane. It's shared with other businesses inside a plaza and busy street. Parking is tight along with parking spaces are going to be freed up for about a minute, then someone will take the spot right after. At least that was the case coming here on the weekend. I came here to check out the next door dim sum shop (check out my review for Dim Sum Co. if you'd like), so I also made a stop here. They have pretty much everything here. Lots of fresh vegetables, fruits, dried/preserved items, a limited Chinese/Vietnamese herbs for soups, meat and seafood department, and a very huge frozen-everything department! The frozen items included seafood, saw some Filipino items like pandan in their frozen section. They also have lots of bulk items here...like 5 lb+ bags of pho noodles and things. So worth coming here for groceries...there are lines on the weekends here. read more

Don't trust the quality of your food the meat in this store. The employees have no respect or dignity when it comes to customer. What do you think? They will do to the meat and food safety. 1-Star Review: Rude, Discriminatory, and Unprofessional Service at the Butcher Counter I had one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had at this store today around 12 PM at the butcher counter. After waiting patiently for about 5 minutes while the butcher chatted with a friend over the counter, I asked for fresh bacon. Instead of helping me, he tried to give me frozen meat I didn't ask for. When I politely said I wanted fresh bacon, he handed me another completely wrong item. A kind customer next to me helped me identify the correct piece of bacon because I'm visually impaired. I told the butcher, "This is the one I want," and instead of helping, he became rude and dismissive. He said loudly, "Can someone else help this lady? She's indecisive. I cannot help her." I absolutely was NOT indecisive -- I simply needed the correct item. When I explained that I am visually impaired, he responded with, "You can't see?" and laughed. This is one of the most inconsiderate and discriminatory comments anyone could make to a disabled customer. I tried to speak to a manager, but the clerk told me the manager was "busy" and "doesn't understand English well," which made it impossible to report the incident in the moment. This behavior is unacceptable. The butcher was rude, unprofessional, and completely lacking compassion, and the store clearly has no proper customer service standards in place. I will never return to this store again, and I will not allow my family to shop here. No customer should be treated this way -- especially someone with a disability. If management does not correct this, the business will go downhill fast. read more

Following my fail attempt at Thuận Phát market, I figured to give this one a try, well it was a mess for parking maneuver, cars going all different directions because all the people like to park their cars close to entrance causing this congestion, me on the other hand tried to move away from that, because I didn't mind a little bit walking. Plus they have a dim sum to go food restaurant on the side, people were there waiting to pickup their orders as well, total chaos. Then you get inside and found out all the stuffs you bought from Thuận Phát are available here for cheaper prices. Plus they have rau muống here, fully stocked and fresh too. I wish I knew sooner, I bought the stuffs I needed and get out as fast as I could. Now that I understand why people from other counties came here for groceries because it's cheaper in OC, you can't beat $1.99 rau muống vs $5.99 San Diego jeez. The parking lot definitely smaller and also the shady people walking around and casing your cars, so make sure you don't leave any valuables while you shop. read more

The good: This market had custard apples! I was very surprised. It was expensive ($11-12) but the fact that they had it was pretty unique. Their prices for everything else is very fair or cheap. I found all of my Vietnamese food needs here. I liked that they played Vietnamese music inside too. The aisles were well organized. They also have other tropical fruits like longan, rambutan and durian. Their durian prices were better than the prices I'm used to in NorCal. The bad: They didn't have the brand of grass jelly that I typically like to get but I got two alternatives that'll hopefully be okay tasting too. They didn't have disposable chafing dishes either. This supermarket is so lazy it's only 6 they close at 8pm i ask them to ground meat for me the meat guy was like oh I clean the machine already I can't ground it like what kind of answer it that what you can't clean it again like you have an hour to clean it make no sense. And then last time fish too same thing never again I come back to this store. no star on texting experience. I laughed so hard at reading some of the negative reviews, yes we know it's an Asian market it's obvious by the name, & yes it smells of fish (there's fish here duuuuh) lmao Anyways I've stopped in at this market for many years now, I try not to though because the parking situation is horrible and backing out is just downright anxiety. I do enjoy coming sometimes though because I love getting my favorite pears (when I'm craving them) which are Jade Golden Pears or Naju Pears and it's just so different than your typical America grocery stores (obviously right, it's an Asian market) If you happen to stop by out of curiosity, get yourself a box of the pears I told you about. Slice them up & put them in a bowl, add Tajin & the juice of a whole lemon or lime & enjoy. You can eat them pure too, trust they're good. I also get tea when I'm here too, this time around I went for the Oolong Tea. There's a great variety of other things, stop in if you dare & soak in the diversity. read more

My 5 y/o after going to the bathroom: 5: "It's so funny, people pee on the cardboard!" Me: "In the boys or girls?" 5: "Both! Hahaha" I'm gonna hard pass on using the bathroom here. Overall they had a nice variety of fruits & vegetables. Some more exotic varieties as well as 20 lb durians that were the size of my 5 year old! The most eye opening item was live frogs which I could not stomach cooking at home. There were many people who gathered but no one bought one of the little guys. Aisles upon aisles of fish sauce & chili. Definitely hit them up for your asian condiments!!! 5 stars on the condiments! When I got home there were live bugs in the vegetables & I had to triple wash & then sort them into even smaller piles and double wash again. I will not be coming back to buy vegetables. read more

This is my Go to place for Shumai and other dim sum type foods. I don't know much about Vietnamese food but we got everything pictured. They have a menu with pictures so it is easier to order. I wish I could explain what I got but I am not entirely sure. I know I had sesame balls with red bean inside, the green leaf had rice and pork inside. Everything was very good and prices were very reasonable. While I waited for our food we went and bought some groceries to make Pho at home! Can't wait to try that! read more

Have you visited My Thuan Supermarket in Westminster, CA, recently? I have, and it was my first time, and I'd almost pass out walking through their meat and seafood department. The super foul, spoiled stench was so powerful that even if you wear some kind of mask, it won't do you any good. I'm very dumbfounded by how they pass the health inspection because this is a public health risk to me if someone passes out or something worse. Also, their selection of products isn't that large compared to other Asian supermarkets around. I would stick to your ABC, Shun Fat, and 168 supermarkets if you want better prices and selections. read more

If you're sensitive, whether of smell or with live animal being sold, maybe this will not be the supermarket for you. Otherwise, if you're looking for some really authentic Vietnamese or crazy stuff, this is it.... I mean, where else can you find some giant live toads/frogs for sale? Even I was pretty surprised when I saw them being sold, poor frogs. I was here looking for durian and they still have plenty out in front and in the back. They also have pre-packaged ones, seedless and seed, monthlong but from Thailand. I bought some and they were pretty good! I would definitely come back for some more seedless pre-package durian! This is still my go to asian market in Little Saigon after being here for almost 30 years. They have the freshest vegetables, herbs, and other produce items. Their seafood is also very fresh. Reliably fresh pork belly and other butcher items. Shopped here because the attached/adjacent dim sim takeout was always sold out of pork belly. I figured that I would cook my own. The pork belly at the grocery butcher is always fresh and tastes delicious. The butcher sells so much of their products every day that everything is always fresh there. Produce is nice here. They have fresh tofu and they have fresh "white loaf" for Bahn mi. They have carrots the size of cucumbers... not sure what that is about or where those come from. Crazy selection in the seafood department; I didn't buy anythiny there, but the sell a ton .. so it is probably fresh too. I have bought pork belly at other butchers (Super King Grocery) to save money but it had a strong/unclean taste (either old or just from sitting in stinky refrigerator). Four stars for the siu mai alone - they made a fresh batch shortly after I ordered so they were piping hot and full of juicy flavor. The har gow were also pretty good - but the siu mai was definitely the standout. I also ordered the rice crepes with shrimp but they came out cold, the wrapper too thick without much chew. Covid times: The togo dim sum on the side of the market is a great use of space and fairly quick. The quality of the food is good and the prices were reasonable. I would recommend the pork and shrimp dumping. It has whole shrimps and a good texture. I would not recommend the turnip cake. They probably did not fry them on order, likely it sat under a heat lamp. It was ok otherwise. It's a good stop for a quick bite and to hold us over until covid times end. read more

It is SO unfair that there are so many awesome supermarkets in the Westminster/Garden Grove area. I feel so cheated that in Irvine, there is only 99 Ranch Market. My Thuan Supermarket is another pretty good market located within minutes of many other markets. Spacious, well stocked, clean (well it's clean when you compare it to other Asian grocers) and this one didn't have a strong disgusting smell one is accustomed to when one visits a market like this one. There is also a cooked food/deli area which is convenient considering how busy some of the neighboring restaurants are during lunch hours. Prices are comparable to other similar markets. read more

This review is for the food court only. I bought the boiled salted chicken with garlic ginger sauce and it was BOMB! It normally comes as a whole chicken but they kindly cut it up into small pieces for me :) The chicken was perfectly cooked and THE GINGER GARLIC SAUCE ON TOP is what makes it even more delicious! My parents loved it so much they bought two to take home with them all the way to Houston lol. The chicken was around $16 which I don't think was bad either. While in line for my purchase, I got a few dishes of my favorite dim sums: fried shrimp ball, sticky rice wrapped in leaves, & and shumai. I'd rate the... fried shrimp ball 5/5 pretty crispy and flavorful Sticky rice-4/5 because of the large chunks of fried pork in it which made it difficult for the sticky rice to stay with it but still overall delicious Shumau-4/5 because I've had some that tasted better. This one tasted kind of lackluster in flavor. It was still good to satisfy my craving. read more

When I bought the dried shrimp item, I asked the cashier, and she told me that i could leave this dried shrimp outside. I don't have to put it in the refrigerator since it did dry already. But when I brought it home, few day later I've seen mold inside the bag. I brought it back to the store with the receipt and showed it to the store manager. And she refuse to refund my money. When I had an extended stay here, I shopped here often. Better prices than at home in Washington State. And the only place I could find lotus seed mooncakes. Now if I could just find lotus seed at decent prices, I could make my own as I now own many, many, many mooncake presses! I could get my favourite dragonfruit so cheap here! My review is soley based on the dimsum area thats in the market...even though I did look inside the market from the eating area and saw a lot of great sales. lots of cheap drinks and produce...so that's gotta be a good thing. first of all..I live in the San Fernando Valley, so there are not many good dimsum places, except maybe one...but it's uber expensive! I mean, I Can drive out to San Gabriel valley area and get dimsum there...but the wait is crazy long too...so i dunno. unless I'm REALLY craving dimsum...i'll wait it out. ok...sO like EVERYTHING here is super cheap. mostly everything is $1.29 per order (each other being 3-4 pieces) or .99 per order (3-4 pieces per order) so we got everything from sticky fried rice, fried shrimp balls, shrimp har gow, pork shumai, egg custard tarts, shrimp and chive dumplings and others...for all aroundddd...$13? it totalled about 31 pieces! you cannooottttt beat that price....and everything is pretty fresh! you can always see the staff in the kitchen area making new stuff and cooking. sodas are .99 a can, and .25 for hot tea (w/free refills..or @ least I got free refills, haha) I wish this place was closer cuz it would be my go to place for lunch almost everyday. super cheap and fast. Never been here before and I made two trips to this Vietnamese supermarket in one week. The first time was because I was waiting for the food that we ordered next door so I had 20 minutes. The place is clean, fruit looks fresh, the prices seems to be competitive too! I bought some Vietnamese canned coffee and snacks to try out and I liked them so I returned a few days later and stocked up since I was in the area. The only negative is the crazy parking, it's always crowded and I did have someone that came up to me to ask for money when I was walking back to my car (during the day) which is always uncomfortable. read more

What do people expect? It's an Asian supermarket, not Vegas. You get in, grab your rice wine, Thai basil, unsettling deceased fish or repurposed swine appendage, check out, and try to get the hell out of the parking lot before something bad happens to you car. They have everything you'd expect and it's cheap. The security guard standing in front looks like he could be reselling scotch and cigarettes out of the trunk of any one of the 12,467 cars in the lot but I digress.
