I purchased a Groupon for American Maids months ago. I have called them repeatedly to set up appointments to use the Groupon and have never been able to schedule one. They finally scheduled an appointment for me, and are supposed to come tomorrow. I have just been informed that they will not be coming because apparently they have a new policy about houses being required to have air conditioning in order to qualify for cleaning. Our house was built in 1874. It does not, of course, have central air. They have just cancelled my cleaning appointment even though when I made the appointment I communicated with them EXTENSIVELY about the house and explained that we'd have people visiting. I now find myself up the proverbial creek with a useless Groupon and a houseful of out of town guests. I am EXTREMELY displeased with my experience all the way around. read more

hey, just joined just to leave a review for this place. Despite some of the bad reviews, I am an optimist and decided to rely on the positive reviews.. well my bad! While they did clean the place in a good way.. just missing a few small things, they were SO SLOW! I had other cleaning people at my place and other home, but never seen 2 girls that slow! Plus they let my dog out of the crate.. but they do not know how it happened ..weird! and they were trying to get extra trash bag for them. like stealing.. indeed.. when I asked the girl why she was taking all these trash bag.. she answered.. oh no! euh... take back ... it is yours!...OK well then who knows why she took it in the first place! SO unprofessional.. now I am waiting for the unpleasant bill.! and will try another place for sure! read more

I recently requested a deep cleaning and a deep cleaning it was not. I would barely call it a regular cleaning. After they were "done" I had to remind them to clean the base boards which they claimed they did (but were still dusty), the window sills, and ceiling fans. Then their manager showed up and made them redo the bathroom and improve on the kitchen. Even after the manager came I still found more things that were not cleaned. After awhile i just gave up and cut my losses. Maybe they were new (who knows), but for what I spent, I will never use them again. My wife asked me to book a cleaning service before we had company over for Christmas. She recently had surgery and wasn't going to be able to deep clean the house. And, we had been searching for a company to clean our house on a more regular basis, so we thought we would trial run a company for a pre-Christmas clean. This company charges by the hour, they charged us $22.50/per girl and 2 girls came to the house for a total of $45/hour. This is important because as my wife told me, they were slow as molasses and seemed to be milking the hourly rate. Our house took 4 hours to clean with the basement alone taking over an hour for 2 girls to clean. There is no way, even with a deep clean, that our basement takes an 2 hours (2 girls, 1 hour each) to clean. My wife then called them on the fact they were dilly dallying, so then they started rushing and missed all sorts of obvious things. For the $160 that we were charged, nothing should have been missed. I am sure that American Maids has many maids that are great, hence the many 5 star reviews which prompted me to call them, but the 2 girls we had that day were not star performers. This was a very poor cleaning service! They skimmed the surface of furniture with a Swiffer duster and missed parts of the bathroom. They were in a big hurry to be finished and if they didn't remove the dirt in 1 swipe, they just moved on! My condo didn't smell any cleaner when they were finished, because they used a minimal amount of Murphy's Oil Soap on the wood floors in my condo. I do a better job myself! read more

Please do yourself a favor and don't use this company. If something goes wrong and they ruin or break something, they will deny it completely and screw you over. We have a brand new home with brand new carpeting. We came home after a cleaning and found 5 bleach type marks on our carpeting that do not come out. We contacted the company and they simply said "we didn't do it" and offered us $10 off the next cleaning. Now in a brand new house we have to live with stains in our carpeting or spend thousands of dollars replacing it. By the way I agree with Mary Ellen J, there is nothing "american" about these maids either. Interesting company name. On top of everything else, now they are refusing to drop off our keys and claim we have to take time off work and go their location. PLEASE do not use them. read more

American Maids SCRUBBED my apartment clean! I heard about them as they're part of Cleaning for a Reason, a non-profit org that arranges house cleanings for cancer patients. I'm in remission but still in treatment, & it's difficult balancing work and home life, so I thought I'd try American Maids out. Three lovely ladies arrived at my apartment w/in the time promised. I have a small, 1 bedroom and desperately needed the kitchen, living and bath room cleaned. The team attacked my apartment and left no corner untouched. And they were done in no time at all! I'm in the process of doing some early spring cleaning and re-arranging my apartment, and hope to hire them back once I'm done making changes. Plus, they get bonus points for helping cancer patients keep their homes clean. If you need your place deep cleaned, I can't recommend American Maids enough! I was wavering between 1 or 3 stars, so this is my compromise. With my Groupon, I had to book a cleaning 4 1/2 weeks out. Ok. Not happy, but what was my choice? 3 for the cleaning in nooks and crannies. 1 for the damage and not cleaning that occurred in the less than promised amount of time for cleaning. The crew arrived on time, at 12:30. They left at 2:10. Um, that's not the full 4 man hours. Even that, I was ok with. However well this crew cleaned, a few major issues. First, my brand new microwave was SCRATCHED like I've never seen before. It was over the number/touch pad and it was ridiculously obvious. Cleaner was left slopped and dripping on one of my cabinets (still not sure what it was). The kitchen sink was left on the entire time. REALLY??? What was the point of wasting so much water? Thankfully, I don't pay for it, but... My glass top coffee table was dusted off, not cleaned - it took me all of 60 seconds afterwards with Windex. When the girls walked in, I specifically said I needed the floors and baseboards cleaned - my place is entirely hard wood floors. After they left, I had to get on my hands and knees (not so easy these days) and scrub my floor. Running a mop over the floors does not make for a clean floor. Overall, I certainly would NOT use this service again, nor would I recommend them. Perhaps it was my particular crew, but they left my condo certainly less dusty, but almost a week later, I'm still pissed off about my microwave and floors. read more

We were attracted to this service by a Groupon. The attraction was validated by great service. We are in a vintage high rise that had not been professional cleaned since we moved in over a year ago. I don't think the building did much before we moved in, so a professional job was much needed. We had two extraordinary women who worked magic! The old tile bathroom floors looked great, the stove top which I had done everything to get clean looked new! They were so efficient, hard working and yet inconspicuous. A perfect team! Two women from American Maids cleaned my kitchen cupboards and drawers inside and out. They climbed high enough to clean the top shelves of my cupboards which go up to 9 foot ceilings. They did an excellent job. read more

I used a groupon and found the cleaning to be very good. Two ladies showed up on time at 715am and worked for two hours. They concentrated on the kitchen and bathroom which was fine as these rooms needed a cleaning. I would refer the service to friends and family. read more

This company is wonderful. My standard for any service is if the people I hire do a better job than I could ever do on my own at a reasonable price, and American Maids passes that test with flying colors. I've had both a deep clean and a regular clean and both times the house was so nice I just walked around and gawked. The fact that they are green is a bonus! read more

Sometimes their English is not 100%, but it has never been a big problem. Be weary of Loving Social deal, it is very misleading. $75 for three hours is supposed to be the deal, but since there are two girls it is 1.5 hours! I paid extra money to have them stay cleaned very well. I called to complain to see if they could come out and re-do the flooring and the owner said "no, since I already got a deal they would not guarantee the service." Be warned, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I never use all caps, but I have no choice. Not only was the service questionable and often incomplete, but my months of patience resulted in excessive damage to my property. For months they gave me the run around to no avail. Even after sending photos, precise time and day documentation, and replacement receipts they questioned culpability at 'every' turn and ultimately 'refused' to reimburse me for the damage they caused - some items were sentimental and irreplaceable. Worst cleaning service I have ever used! I scheduled a deep clean, including refrigerator. Not only was my house not cleaned, only visible parts of refrigerator were cleaned. I emailed the company the day after and let them know my disappointment in the service I received, and that I would not be paying for deep clean. I got a response saying that my house was in a deplorable condition and that the price that was quoted would be what was charged. My apartment was a bit cluttered, but by no means was in a deplorable condition! After letting them know they were not authorized to charge my card, they did anyway. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone!!!!! Floors not mopped, bathroom cleaned minimally, kitchen cabinets still had dirt on the outside, not to mention floor not even touched! No dusting done, and not one piece of furniture moved to clean underneath. The house looked the same as it did before the cleaning was done. I may not get my money back, but I will get some satisfaction in knowing that I am able to write a review so possible future clients will know the kind of work this company does! read more

I called American Maids and they got me an appointment three days later...sort of last minute. This was great. The ladies who came to clean my place were also great. I was given a quote for the cleaning, which I paid ahead of time on my charge card. Then, I got a call and was told that I would have to pay more, because "of the condition of my place." The owner claimed I had been sent a letter ahead of time explaining that the maids were paid per hour but didn't get anything given how much they were paid per hour or the details of how they came up with my quote. There was a lot of miscommunication and I was charged a lot of extra money. The service was good, but the rate was very high and the owner did not clearly communicate how overage charges would occur and what they might be. I was not prepared to pay the final price I was asked to pay and threatened that if I didn't pay the extra, I would be reported to a collection agency. I did not appreciate the lack of customer service at the end of the cleaning day. Again, the girls who cleaned were very nice and did a great job! read more

I was trying them out on a Groupon, and had planned on starting to schedule them regularly if it worked out. Well.. I will definitely NOT be calling them again. I live in a fairly small 1 BR, so I requested the deep clean, since even that would be a stretch to find work for 4 hours. I didn't stay as they cleaned, and I am convinced they didn't stay for more than thirty minutes. Toilette was wiped down, but not cleaned inside, tub was not scrubbed, nothing was dusted. I had expressly requested my floorboards be cleaned, they weren't touched. I was so excited to come home to a perfectly clean apartment, and am so disappointed. I did email to let them know and they offered to send over an inspector, but when I told them I couldn't meet them until 5:15 they said that was after hours and they couldn't be there then. If I hear more from them and the review deserves to be updated I will, but for now I would advise against using them. read more

i ordered 2 maids and i got three maids.. my apart is only 610 foot ... and they took more than 1:30 to clean it. i clean my whole apartment in 2 hours and i am one person. they keep chatting and laughing . they didn't clean well just the places that can be seen .. they didn't clean under the bed, chair, sofa and the table. i believe this company sucks and i don't recommended it for its cheap service with high praises. read more
