Had an appointment today for 8:30. I arrived 15 mins early and completed all their paperwork. I was the only customer in the waiting room. Shortly after 8:30 another individual arrived (also for 8:30 appointment) and was seen immediately. At 8:40 I confirmed my appointment was indeed for 8:30, and they confirmed and checked to see what the status was, I was told they were finishing up with a previous patient and would see me shortly. A few minutes later, a gentleman arrives for his 9:00 appointment, and is immediately seen. I informed the desk that I couldn't wait any longer a was leaving, the said "no problem"... didn't offer an apology and could not care in the least... Stay away from this location. read more

I love my eye doctor. My daughter and I have been using them for years now, and have always had a great experience. I was involved in a very bad accident on May 8th and my eye glasses were never recovered in the wreckage. My daughter took me to my eye doctor and we explained to them what had happened and if they could replace them with the insurance I had purchased knowing that if you use the insurance to replace them that they need the broken ones. The manager ( can't remember her name ) had told me to have a seat and she would be with me as soon as she finished with her customer. When she called me over to her workstation she explained that the Oakley frames I had purchased had been discontinued. She then told me that I could pick any Oakley frames I wanted and she would replace my glasses. In about a week I was notified that my glasses were in, and a perfect fit. That is EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE, and I would definitely recommend MY EYE DOCTOR in Gastonia to anyone. read more

My husband and I have been patients at My Eye Dr for over a decade. They have had a few different doctors in the practice, which is the only thing about the practice that I wish would change. The optical techs are amazing and have been thrilled with Chelsea who always helps me pick the cutest glasses. This visit last Friday was my husband's time, and Chelsea was acting office manager, so she was orchestrating the front. My husband was helped by Lakeisha, who did an excellent job helping him get the right fit and glasses that he will be enjoying wearing. My wife scheduled annual appointment for eye exam. The day before the exam, she was called from My Eye Doctor informing her that she had already had an exam this year and that insurance would not cover a second one. She explained she had NOT had an eye exam this year. Grant informed her that the records showed she had the exam and gave her the insurance company that was on record. She informed Grant that the referenced insurance company used was NOT her insurance company. We cancelled all future appointments and business. They just didn't care and they were wrong. read more

They have changed their visit platform. Instead of seeing 1 doctor, you see multiple people who review multiple portions of your visit. Some are in front of you, others are on video. I was actually sure that this must work for some, but it didn't work for me. I was too distracted by the coming and going. I had one complaint that i mentioned at the beginning of my visit, that was ultimately not dealt with. read more

I recently moved to Gastonia so I'm finding new businesses to provide for my life needs. I am already a patient of MyEyeDr but this was my first time trying this location. I recently got an eye infection and called this office and was seen the SAME day. Dr. Dock saw me and treated me quickly. He was very nice and patient with me during this experience. The staff assisted me throughout the process too. The office is spacious and clean. My only visit here was to check on my infection so I'm unsure of the eye glasses that they have to offer but I appreciated the service. read more

I had a great experience at MyEyeDr. All the staff are wonderful, kind, and helpful. It was pretty cool to see such positive atmosphere especially on what seemed like a busy day. This was my first time doing a VR assisted appointment. It was comfortable, thorough, and doctor and techs were really nice. I had moved to the Charlotte area from Arizona. It was explained to me that I needed a note from my optometrist stating that I need to wear sun glasses when outside. I didn't see this as an issue as the two prior eye doctors in Arizona had told me this. The doctor refused to write the note, saying it had to come from my primary care physician, which to me makes no sense (they don't examine the eye). read more

I scheduled my appointment ahead of time as usual. I recently received Medicaid. Someone from the office emailed me asking for my new insurance information. I provided her with my information. Nothing else was said. So today I go to my appointment and the gentleman at the front desk tells me they do not except medicaid. If that office did not accept medicaid then #1 why was I scheduled, #2 why did the individual I gave my insurance information inform me they did not take it? The gentleman at the front was rude and after I explained I had medicaid he really didn't want to speak any further. Rude staff for sure and also unprofessional and obviously untrained. I will not be returning to this Dr. ever again. This company really needs to get their act together with the quality of their service. read more

Staff was rude and had an attitude, not even 5 minutes into the conversation. She showed absolutely no effort to try to be understanding. Service was slow as well, people were just sitting around. The man hung up the phone on someone saying he had a patient to tend to, and proceeded to do nothing. Do not go here, they'll just chat to each other and waste your time. I mean, go ahead and look at their rating. If you care at least a little bit about your eyes, you'll go somewhere else. There's plenty of other eye doctors that are better than this place, but it's not like that's hard to do. read more

I went against my better judgement and gave this place a try. HUGE mistake. Customer service skills are minimal and they don't have any issues selling you eyeglasses, but will not adjust them for you while you are wearing them. They guess at the adjustments while you stand in the 95 degree sun. I know things are different with COVID, but precautions can be taken to do hands on care. I do it every day in my job. If they are this afraid, shut the doors and stop taking people's time and money. Needless to say, I won't be going there again. read more

Wow! They over sell you on a ton of upgrades. I had to ask many times that just wanted basic lens on my existing glasses. The price went from $300+ dollars for lens to $30 bucks. The biggest concern was that they wanted me to sign a waiver if "they" break my existing 2 year Oakley glasses, they would not replace them but only offer a 40% discount. Insane!! They break my glasses and I have to pay for their mistake. Not a good business practice !! read more

I went there yesterday (06-15-20) to get my eye glasses (which I purchased there) repaired. They had all the doors locked. Had a sign up that said you had to make an appointment for anything. I don't have a cell phone so a woman that also needed a repair called their number. They refused to see both of us without an appointment. If I could have left them a ZERO rating I would. I went to Walmart and they helped me with open arms! Come on people open the damn doors and let the customers in. Especially the ones that have done business with you in the past and spent lots of money there! Great way to keep customers! read more

First, my experience with the optometrist was great. They had a lovely demeanor about them and I was pleased with how the appointment went. It was everything after that has soured my impression. I was escorted out directly to the eyewear sales area, rather than checking out and paying for my exam. Granted, I had marked that I wanted to purchase frames - it was my mistake that I assumed this meant in general rather than during my visit, as the form did not specify. That's fine, I will own that. I politely informed them that I would not be able to purchase glasses as I had an infant with me that was due for a feeding and getting cranky. The clerk seemed a little annoyed and rang me up to pay for my exam. I didn't realize that I hadn't been given a copy of my rx until I got home. I contacted customer service and was told that I'd need to request a copy in person. Again, fine. Not what I'm used to with past practices, but fine. My husband and I purchased eyewear from a different business over the weekend and it has been complete hell trying to get MyEyeDr to release the rx to the business, despite having completed a release form. Each time we call, we are told a different story. 24 hours after the initial fax of the release was sent, the story was "oh, I found them - they are sitting in the pile of faxes. I'll send that right over." The next call, they had never received any such faxes. ANOTHER call, they miraculously found the faxes, but now it may take 24-48 hours to release them AND the Dr. Needs to review and sign off on the rx. I just find this process so be ludicrous and so unnecessary. I have been wearing glasses for 22+ years and never in my life have had to jump through so many hoops to obtain a copy of my rx. I was seen 2 weeks ago! I work nights and have 4 children, so i haven't been able to go in person to pick it up.... but it's looking like that's the only way I'm going to be able to get my new glasses. In short, don't leave without asking for a copy of your Rx. They have that thing locked up tighter than the nuclear codes. read more

Not a great experience at all, unfortunately. They called me back 30 minutes after my actual appointment time. The doctor was really nice and professional, but then after she walked me out to "wait to get checked out" I sat there for another 20 minutes without anyone assisting. I finally went up to the front desk and asked if I could just pay my copay and leave, and the woman I asked took it upon herself to come check me out, which at first I really appreciated. BUT I asked again if I could pay my copay, get a copy of my glasses prescription, and go home. Then she proceeded to tell me that my insurance "likes for me to purchase contacts the same day as the exam." I said that didn't sound right and to show me where it said that. So she goes back up to the front desk and asks someone... comes back over to me and tells me she was "thinking of a different insurance"... *insert eye roll here* So, FINALLY I was able to pay my copay... but I had to ask a third time for my glasses prescription. I understand they like for people to order glasses and contacts from them directly, but if someone asks for their prescription, just give it to them without a struggle, please! All in all, I was there for nearly two hours. I will not be going back there. The people working there were nice enough, I guess, but I definitely felt like a number instead of a person and/or customer. read more

I've been to this location perhaps two or three times, usually without issue. The most recent time was just a headache. I'll start with the positive- they were able to get me in for a same day appointment, the receptionists were polite, and the optometrist I saw was really pleasant and patient. That's where the positive ends. I felt like the technician fast-talked me into the digital images so they could get the $39 copay. Previous techs I've seen have mentioned that the digital images are helpful but not required. This girl was pushy and it grated my nerves. By the time the exam was over, I was ready to give them the $39 and leave. Unfortunately, I had to wait for a salesperson to finish up because apparently they're the only ones who accept payment? *insert eye roll here* Finally a gentleman comes up to process my payment. He's clicking and scrolling around in the computer for what feels like forever- apparently they mistakenly left a charge on my account from a previous visit and he needs help clearing it out. Finally, I pay and ask for my lens prescription- he has to go get someone to print it out. Dude. I just want to go home. Eventually I get the scrip and leave. Here's the kicker- the next day when I'm headed to Charlotte to shop for frames, I realize they've given me someone else's prescription. They can't email me my scrip because it's a HIPAA violation (OH NOW WE CONCERNED ABOUT HIPAA? As I'm staring at someone else's prescription and appointment summary!?). I have to either go back to Gastonia, have them fax it to me, or have them mail it. They won't even send the prescription directly to Warby Parker without some release form. It's a huge inconvenience for me to get my prescription, when their salesperson made the mistake. I'm highly annoyed and need them to do better. read more

This is the BEST eye doctor I have ever been to. I don't even live in Gastonia anymore but I still make the drive from Huntersville. Dr. Farnham is the only eye doctor that has ever been able to fit me in contacts that are comfortable. The staff is friendly and always willing to help! ok so basically i have gone here for a few years and almost every time i went i had to wait an extra week because they got my prescription wrong, the other day i show up for an appointment and i was running a LITTLE Late bc my appointment was at 3:45 and i get off of school at 3:30 not my fault, before my mom picks me up they call and say that it's ok as long as it's no longer then 10 minutes, my mom gets me at 3:50 and we go on our way, reminder this is a good few minutes from my school, we get there at 4:02 and they say " your late so we have to reschedule " and note the lady was being really rude , so my mom said no , i'm no longer going to go here, i appreciate what they have done for me , but that just ridiculous, i understand i'm late but they can give me a break, i litterly just got off school read more

I've been going to Summit Eye for several years now and have always recieved excellent service. Dr. Farnham is the best. She's very nice and always takes as much time as you need when she sees you.
