Had to get exam done twice, because prescription wasn't accurate first time. Have been at least 3 separate times to pick up my glasses, and every time I am sent home because they had traced the wrong sized lens for my existing frames. Several lens had to be sent back because transitions or blue light blockers weren't added as requested. I am still waiting for two sets of lens (6 weeks later) to come in. I booked an appointment online and was surprised I got in the same day. When I went to my appt she told me I checked the box to have my eyes dilated. Said it was thru the visual online dr, I don't remember seeing that box so I had to reschedule. Should make these easier to book since you don't get a real person to book your appointment. read more

Original new patient appointment May 2025. That same day scheduled an appointment for additional testing August 8. Get a call less than a week before the August 8 appointment to say the testing medical code is not acceptable for the insurance. BUT THEY ACCEPT THE INSURANCE, JUST NOT FOR THE TEST. Receptionists later confirmed with the doctor AND the insurance that the testing medical code WILL BE APPROVED. However, have the appointment was rescheduled for August 19 because the doctor will not be in August 8. Only to receive a call at 3:59PM August 18, 24 hours before the appointment on August 19 stating the insurance IS NOT applicable to the testing and the payment would have to be made out of pocket. Nothing from the original appointment, or first reschedule was ever documented in the chart. I've had the same conversations about insurance and appointment confirmation 7x in the past 3 weeks. Ridiculously unprofessional!! Highly recommend you look elsewhere for eye care. read more

South Lakeland branch on South Fl Ave My sister Maria and I have been going here for years to fill our eyeglass prescription. The staff has always been so helpful and kind. Yesterday we arrived and I realized I forgot our prescriptions at home. Megan was a big help to both of us. She went above and beyond and was so patient. My eye doctor is faxing prescription. Megan took our measurements and all our info is in the computer, so we don't have to go back until we pick up our glasses. As 2 senior women, with health issues, my sister Maria uses a walker and I use a cane, it means so much to us to be treated so kindly. In years past we have often dealt with Ivania who was also very helpful every year. we will continue going to the South Lakeland branch, the staff is amazing. If I could rate a zero or less I would. Total incompetence at every step past the eye exam. I told them I was looking for a bifocal that would allow me to see my computer screen clearly and be able to look down and read a message on my phone or a written document. When I received my glasses I told them I could see the center of the computer screen but when I looked to the right or left it was blurry. After a few attempts to explain the women helping me muttered something about there were two prescriptions written and maybe they made the wrong one. Why there were two I have no idea. So they said we'll make them again. New glasses same result. After a bit of discussion and calling in a second person I was told that the problem resulted from the fact that I had selected the cheapest lens which has some goofy limited visual effects that were designed to only provide clear vision straight ahead. I was then showed a chart that showed 4 different lens designs that as you spent more for the lens you could see the entire screen. Please note that I was never shown this chart previously at either my first or second visit which could have prevented this whole mess. At this point I became angry and asked for my money back. The person I was dealing with said she would have to check with the manager. She returned to say they could/would only return $140 of the $220 I spent because they made 2 pairs. Unbelievable! They screwed up and I had to pay for their incompetence? They made the exact same prescription they did the first time. After complaining and asking to see the manager who turned out to be obnoxious and not a very pleasant. person, she refused to refund the rest of my money. I will report this to my insurance company who only permits using MyEyeDoctor for eye glasses. Hopefully they can fix this. I would never even consider using this company in the future and warn others to do so only at their own risk, And when I mentioned that they broke my wife's frames when after asking her if she wanted to keep them for her new lenses they said the risk of this happening was posted on what looked like an 8 1/2x11 inch piece of paper hanging on a wall about 30 feet or so from where we were sitting. I did not have to wait long. person doing all the various testing was knowledgeable and very caring. I had the doctor up on a television screen. she explained everything about my eyes and my prescription to me and answered all my questions . This doctor only pushes HIS own remedies and HIS wife's treatments- I just saw him 6 weeks ago, paid $400 out of pocket and because I want to stay on the drops I have been on and am having great success with, and do not wish to buy HIS drops and do HIS wife's treatments he won't renew my eye drop prescription. We had an in-depth conversation about them at my appointment and he said "Stay the course you don't want to miss a dose of these" and now he says if I will agree to pay him another $140 he will write the script . First time i was given wrong prescription so glasses had to go back to be redone. Spent a lot of money here and the lenses kept falling out of my frames. Good job I found the lenses otherwise i would have had to buy more lenses. Lenses fell out of frames at least 3 times. Not very happy about this. i then figured I would go to a different location. I really wanted to be able to give a 5 star review. Unfortunately, several people make up the whole experience. One bad apple takes everyone down. First of all, the receptionists that greet you, are very friendly and helpful. The doctor herself was amazing. She did a very thorough and complete eye exam, explaining everything as she went and then a thorough explanation when she was finished. Then we got to the next step which was seeing the lady that actually orders your eyeglasses. That was not so good. I was only told to look at frames to see what I liked. She never did any measurements to see if those frames fit as they should. She wasn't transparent at all and couldn't explain why my glasses cost $371 without an anti reflective coating, while there was clearly an advertisement for everything my glasses had, plus the anti reflective coating, was only $280. She told me that's for people without insurance! This makes absolutely no sense to me. I don't know if it makes sense to anyone else. She also had a nasty attitude and treated us as if I was a hinderance. Since nothing was measured, after I received the glasses, it didn't take long to figure out they weren't going to work. The earpieces or the temple pieces as they're also called, were extremely far too short for me. It's not only painful, but impossible to see through a bifocal lens when the frames don't fit. I had to take them back. Another lady that does adjustments only, was very professional and helpful, but she just couldn't make them work. The shortness was too much for her to adjust. I had to pick another pair of frames, had measurements made to make sure those fit, and they are remaking them at no cost. Overall, a good experience, but there needs to be more transparency in pricing, explanations for why you pay more if you have insurance, and make sure the frames fit properly. You can't tell if they fit properly when trying the frame in the store. That's just plain glass without real lenses, so you're not trying to focus on a certain part of the lens. I will continue to go to MyEyeDr, but I won't order from the same person in sales. read more

Someone I bestow a lot of trust, recommended me to to Dr Elizabeth Roberts at Eye Express. When I called I was immediately placed into a 4 person queue by an automated system. An estimated 12 minutes 42 seconds later a rushed woman lacking personality answered the call and asked me a robotic list of questions. Called Monday - Appointment set for Thursday. Upon entering the huge office, one of the ladies made eye contact and bounced me around. She grabbed pertinent information, she then passed me to another woman to make a payment. (Without insurance it's about 80$ for an eye exam) Then another woman snatched me up and "Follow me." ...to the torture chamber! Inside the room, she preformed her tests, rolling her eyes at me because I couldn't sit still and I blinked too much. Often, I'd rub my eyes as they'd water in pain, all the while the assistant waited tapping her foot. Within the next room, she said she was going to put in eye drops to dilate my eyes and it would burn, but just a little. By this point the assistant was severely impatient with me. Eye drops are so difficult for me. Instead of waiting for me to lean back and calm myself, she just dug her hands in and pried my eye lids open and PLINK went the BURNING eye drop. Before I could even react in Fight or Flight mode, she moved to the second eye and PLINK again. Then she handed me a tissue and said "Blink and dab." As I blinked and dabbed, she left the room letting her words trail her "Doctor will be in, in a few minutes." Leaning back into the plush chair, with my burning eyes, I let myself settle on the sad thought that it would take forever for the Dr. Roberts to come in. To my pleasant surprise, it didn't! Doc Roberts entered the room swiftly and introduced herself She was so kind, so sweet. I loved that she explained the pros and cons of buying eye glasses online. After asking me for records from previous eye docs because of a freckle on my eye, she walked be back to the long desk of Stepford receptionists. After they got the info they needed, I meandered off to look at glasses. Fully assuming that they would be high pressure, I looked by myself at first. After searching and finding what I wanted, I asked for help. To my surprise, there was zero pressure at all. I'll get my polarized Coach sunglasses next Wednesday (sorta a long wait time) Over all... If I didn't have insurance, I'd take myself elsewhere, they charge too much to treat people poorly. Dr Roberts, thanks for being great. read more

My experience with MyEyeDr, N Lakeland, was a mixed bag. The person who checked me in was ok, but not very friendly. The person who took me back to do the initial exam was curt, unfriendly and when I accidentally knocked my glasses onto the floor, she refused to help me pick them up. (I have bad hips and it hard for me to bend down too much). She saw that I was reaching and struggling to get them but did nothing and then got lippy when I got upset. Dr. Lee Tran was great, friendly, explained everything he was doing. The technician who came to do another procedure was ok. She seemed annoyed that I was a bit slow. She gave me the impression that she really did not want to be there. The person who assisted me with new frames was great. She brought me several frames to choose from because I cannot walk too good and cannot stand for long. Overall, my experience was good, could have been better. read more

The Dr was very professional as well as rest if the staff. The seemed very intuned to my needs and assisted me in process. Even the customers here are nice to each other. The staff is top notch. I have been going to MyEyeDr since I moved to Lakeland in 2016. When I was just wearing glasses, they were great. However, for my contact appointments, they did not seem to care about my concerns or needs. I shared that I was not seeing well and went through a whole cluster of different brands, prescriptions, etc. Their solution was to go back to glasses. I'm sorry, but as a patient who does not have any eye issues beyond a slight distance prescription, we should be looking into HOW to fix it. They continued to dismiss my concerns until I finally just found my old pair of contacts from years ago and asked for those. They would not allow me a trial and their refund policy is a joke that takes 3-5 weeks to get. I will not be returning to this eye care clinic. read more

MyEyeDr has a good selection of frames. This is just the only one positive thing, but glasses are expensive even with using an insurance and customer service is bad. I understand the situation with covid, but it is beyond reasonable. I had to make an appointment" just to enter the store and to wait almost 2 months for my appointment even I did not need to see a doctor, I already had a prescription and only need to select the frame for my glasses. Sales person Katie was helpful and nice, but the manager was very bossy and rude to me. I didn't catch her name. I was purchasing expensive designer frame and was trying it on, I was told by her that I can't take off my facial mask even while trying frames! That is their policy! Buying eyeglasses and not be able to see if they look good on you or not!! I was more then 6 feet away from any person in the store, but the manager told me that I would be asked to leave if I will take my mask off again while trying the glasses. I wish I left right then. And the last: I still purchased my glasses in that store since I already spent so much time their and I liked the frame, but it had been more then a month and the glasses still not ready. read more

I had a good experience overall and had little wait time. They spent a good amount of time with me and helped me figured out the best deals using my insurance for contacts plus a discount and also a discount for sunglasses and glasses combo. I did find it hard to try on glasses because of COVID you can't just try them on and put them back. They stand next to you awkwardly with a box you have to put try ons inside and I wasn't having much luck finding a pair I liked and just felt super uncomfortable piling used glasses up in this little box they had to sanitize and put back for me. Not sure I left with my favorite glasses but I felt So bad trying them on I just picked something. Also, we factored in a $150 rebate into my final balance which was $600 for everything. I went home to find that the rebate didn't even include my brand of contacts so I ended up spending A LOT more than I wanted. read more

I had an eye exam and new Rx on 12/31/20. New glasses were ordered on that date. It is Feb. 11 and I have yet to receive my glasses. Two weeks after they were ordered they sent the wrong kind of glasses. That was mid January and they have yet to send the right pair. Many calls just get the "were working on it," "let us check on that," "we're sorry," and "we'll call you when they come in." At this point it is safe to say that while we like our drs. we will not be purchasing any more glasses from this store. read more

This office has terrible customer response time. I personally went to my eye doctor on the north side of lakeland and within a few days my wife went to the Southside lakeland office. I was able to get an appointment and place an order within a few days and then receive my glasses 2 weeks later. Meanwhile my wife had to wait 5 weeks to get an appointment, placed her order and was then told it would be another 4 weeks to get the glasses in and then another 2 weeks for an appointment to pick them up. Obviously there is a difference between customer service between the two offices. Northside was a very good experience and I would not recommend the Southside office. The sad part is we were mandated by our insurance coverage to go to my eye doctor. What a tragedy. read more
