I went in to My Eye Dr. last week to purchase a new pair of glasses. Everyone I spoke to was really professional and helpful. Clark was the primary salesperson I worked with and he pulled several different types of frames for me based on what I told him I was looking for. I did notice, however, that only the higher end frames were shown to me. (like 200dollars plus). I am not sure to what extent this location carries lower priced frames, but if cost is a concern for you, you may want to do extensive research before purchasing. Because I had a living social deal, I didnt make a big deal out of paying because I had that discount. However, if I had walked in without the living social deal, I would have probably left after seeing the prices. All in all, I rate it a 4 because my shopping experience was good and I received my glasses quickly (ordered saturday, available for pick up on wednesday), but it doesnt seem like a place for the price conscious shopper. read more

I recently purchased eyeglasses at this location with a LivingSocial voucher. The frames that came free with the voucher were pretty ugly, so I ended up going with designer frames and anti-glare coating that they gave me a discount for. I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was really crowded. I had to wait 20 minutes or so to see the doctor, but that gave me plenty of time to pick out a frame. The doctor was efficient but didn't rush. Once out of the exam room, the clerk helped me narrow down my frame choices and wrote up the order. I ended up saving a ton of money with the discounts that came with the voucher. The first visit took about an hour and everyone was extremely friendly despite how busy it was. Especially the person who seemed to be the manager - I think his name was Anthony. I definitely received the individual attention you want when getting new glasses. I went a few days later after work to pick up the glasses, and they were even busier. I was able to get the glasses and get out pretty quickly, but they didn't make sure they fit or offer to adjust them. They seemed to fit fine so I didn't bother. Then, as I was admiring my new glasses at dinner afterwards, I realized there was a crack in the glass that nobody caught. I had to go back and wait for them to put in new lenses, which took around 30 mins. After a few days I realized the frames were too tight, giving me headaches, and needed to be loosened. Instead of having to trek back up to Silver Spring again, I went to the downtown location and they fixed them for me nice and quick. Overall, this location is efficient and has an excellent selection. The staff is very friendly but can sometimes be overwhelmed. When that's the case, the customer doesn't get too much attention and things fall through the cracks - like the crack in my glasses and not offering to make sure they fit properly. I'll probably visit them again, especially if there's another deal, but I'll be sure to scrutinize my glasses before I walk out next time. read more

I had the most amazing experience at My Eye Dr. in Silver Spring! Every single person I interacted with at this office was amazing... so here's my story :) I booked my appointment online and was given the perfect time the next day. I was able to fill out all of my information online and literally didn't have to wait at all to be seen. The woman who checked my eyes with the machines in the beginning and the eye doctor himself were both very patient with me. (I'm very nervous when it comes to doctors and medical equipment.) They couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. It was a super efficient process and before I knew it, I was brought to someone to help me pick out my frames! When I met Miguel (Miguel Perez), I warned him that I am a super indecisive person. I needed two different frames, for two different prescriptions... and said we might be there a while. He just smiled and said he would help me out! He explained my insurance to me and he asked me what type of frames I was looking for. We then spent a significant amount of time (I mean it was easily over an hour) looking at practically every frame in the office. He not only showed me where each price range of glasses were, he spent the entire time helping me pick them out! After I settled on my new frames, we sat back at his desk and starting going over the paperwork. When it came time to decide which frames would be for each prescription, I suddenly realized I wasn't thrilled with one of my decisions.... Miguel was perfect and didn't mind at all. We started looking for frames again. At least another half hour later, we found the perfect second pair of frames for me. I have seriously never experienced customer service like this... Miguel deserves to win some sort of award for handling my indecisiveness. I love my new glasses. Literally a half hour after I (finally) picked out my new frames, I was able to come back and pick up my new reading glasses! My distance glasses are going to be in by next Friday (because of my insurance) and My Eye Doctor is going to text me when they arrive! - So convenient. I literally couldn't be more pleased and I'll never go to another eye doctor's office again. Thanks! read more

This by far is the best place to go if you want to get quality service, eye glasses, and contacts. The staff here are always welcoming and honestly want to help you find the perfect pair of glasses. If you are going to be getting glasses, I strongly suggest you go here first instead of the other My Eye Doctor Locations. I have been to both the Olney and Rockville locations and their customer service is sub-par. They like to push expensive glasses on you and don't have patience with their customers. At the Silver Spring location, I was helped by David Richards. He was very helpful and he truly wanted me to feel comfortable with the glasses I picked. In addition, he was very patient. I'm a very picky person and unless I find something that I truly love and feel comfortable wearing I will not spend my money. If anyone needs glasses, do yourself a favor and go in ask for David Richards. You will not be disappointed. In addition this location has all the latest styles. I cannot say enough good things about this store! Right away I was greeted by an incredibly nice staff. Dr. Vu was very thorough and took the time to not only make sure I was comfortable, but answer every question I had. After my appointment, Patty helped me in finding the right pair of glasses, and was incredibly patient and helpful in offering me advice on what the best option would be and what looked the best! She took the time to go over my options and really cared about making sure I was happy with my purchase -- which I was! Xiomara was incredibly helpful as well. I brought my 7 yr old into the office on what seemed like a busy day but Mr. Jurado I believe the store manager, was able to help my very picky 7 yr old find a pair of frames that weren't even carried in the store! Mr. Jurado was very professional while juggling between other customers and my son who was being very particular that morning. David over at My Eye Dr hooked me up. I purchased a $35 deal on LivingSocial, wherein I got up to $270 to spend on any prescription glasses in-store. Conveniently enough for me, there's a location right across the street from my office - and I was looking for a pair of back-up lenses. I went in, and David walked me through my options for frames/lenses that were completely covered, as well as a few prescription sunglass options I could get. I settled on a nice set of frames lenses, they based my prescription on my current set of glasses, and I was out the door. Got a call exactly one week later when they were ready. Left my office, walked across the street and into the store - David recognized me right away...I grabbed my glasses and I was out the door. Easy breezy. Good service. Good selection. read more

I'm so glad I found this place! Dr. Vu was very nice and explained everything and I love my new contacts, so great recommendation by him! Afterwards, David helped me out with choosing between a pair of glasses and handling everything else. He was friendly and helpful and accommodating. I had to return a few times since something was wrong with the pair I received, but they hooked me up right away and I was able to leave in a few minutes. One day, I arrived a bit past closing time, but one of the guys was also kind enough to let me in and help re-adjust my glasses, so I was really thankful for that. If you come when there's a lot of people, the sitting/waiting area can get crowded. I never got the contact lenses solution they told me they would send, but since it's free to begin with, I guess I can't really have to much claim over that =) Overall, it's a nice place at a nice location. This was the most stressful vision exam I've ever had in my life. The problems started the minute I walked in for my appointment. Here's a review of my horrible experience at this location. 1) The front desk staff still didn't verify my insurance coverage DESPITE calling me the day before to collect my insurance information. This wasted 30 minutes - my appointment was at 10am on Saturday and I wasn't actually seen until 10:30am. 2) The assistant, who wasn't even a licensed optometrist, tried to sell me an unnecessary "eye pressure exam" that was an additional $27. She didn't tell me that I didn't actually need it until I pressed her. 3) My actual vision exam with Dr. Vu., the optometrist, was good and took less than 15 minutes. No problems. 4) After my exam, the "eyeglass consultant" pressured me to purchase eyeglasses despite having said that I already have THREE glasses that are perfectly fine. He refused to adjust the arms on my sunglasses because I didn't purchase them from his store. Fine. Next, he told me that I owed a $43 copay. I told him that I've never had a copay for a vision exam and after a heated argument, he went to his manager who then told me that they made a mistake by "creating two profiles on the system one of which charged me a $43 copay." WTF, that was the dumbest excuse I've ever heard. 5) Next, I asked for a written prescription so I can send it to Warby Parker to get new glasses in the future, which cost significantly less than what MyEyeDr. charges. Again, the eyeglass consultant said he'd need to wait for the optometrist to sign my prescription. 10 minutes later, no help. After getting tired of waiting, I went up to one of the front desk staff and told her that I was in a rush and needed my signed prescription. She walked into the exam room where the optometrist, Dr. Vu was available and quickly signed my prescription. The entire ordeal lasted an hour when I should've been there no more than 30 minutes! Needless to say, I will not be coming here again and I'll be sending my complaint to corporate and the Better Business Bureau. read more

I was on my way to the hairdresser and decided to take a peak in My Eye Doctor to see their selection of glasses. I have to say that I was VERY impressed with their options as I had never heard of some of the designers. I did not intend on purchasing new glasses since I just bought a pair from a place in DC that morning. However, I could not walk out of the store without a pair of Etnia Barelona frames! I was given excellent customer service by David Richards. He was very attentive and patient as I tried on various pairs of glasses. Since I just had an eye exam that morning, I did not have to see the doctor. David was able to work with me on the price and the paperwork process was easy. Luckily I have Flex Spend Account, so I was willing to pay on the higher scale. I would highly recommend this location just on the frame selection alone. read more

Excellent experience. Fast without feeling like I'm being rushed. Dr. Vu is kind and clear, and the rest of the staff is incredibly polite and friendly. Came in as a new patient, and I intend to stay. They can get you into the office very quickly -- and in fact seemed pleasantly surprised when I called for an appointment one whole week in advance -- and have plenty of staff members there to help you out with everything before and after the actual exam. I was a new patient, a few minutes late and in there at the same time as a seven-child family (eek! So many pairs of glasses!) and was completely done in less than an hour, complimentary stylish sunglasses in hand and contact lenses ordered, to be delivered to my home. Parking in Silver Spring is what it is, i.e. pay garage, and traffic getting there can be hellish no matter the time of day, but definitely worth the trek from College Park. read more

I am getting LASIK and was told to wear glasses only for two weeks prior to the surgery. I found My Eye Dr. to be quick, efficient, and fairly cheap. I came in as a walk-in, gave one of the staff members my prescription, picked out a pair of glasses, and paid. The whole transaction took less than twenty minutes. The staff person I worked with was very friendly and flexible. I've worn glasses since I was eight years old and I can definitely consider My Eye Doctor to be one of the better experiences I've had. If I have to go back to wearing glasses again, I would definitely return to this Silver Spring location. read more

I really had a great experience here. The doctor didn't push any specific products on me. He just asked me what my experience had been with my present contacts, and offered potential solutions for me. Everything was very efficient and he got me through an eye exam quickly, but without rushing me at all. He answered all my questions patiently as well. Also Joey Martinez was really helpful. He made sure that the insurance was coded correctly so that my fitting was covered, and he even helped me by price matching the contacts that I'd purchased online previously. Plus they sent me out the door with free sunglasses! I highly recommend this place. It's convenient to the Silver Spring Metro and also has a hip environment. Great! read more

I had a really wonderful experience having my eyes examined, being fitted for new glasses, and ordering contacts with this location. I originally had an appointment arranged at a nearby "America's Best", but after a horrible phone encounter with that store the day prior, I elected to cancel my appointment and call My Eye Dr at this location. The receptionist was super friendly (the friendliest of all places I called that day) and they were able to squeeze me in the following day. The doctor was excellent--very friendly, timely, and within a matter of minutes knew so much about my eyes and kept the communication open. My prescription is absolutely perfect. After finishing my appt with the doc, I was met by the staff who run the glasses shop. Mo helped me out and encouraged me to try on multiple styles that fit my face, which I appreciated. For my contacts, he cross-checked the lowest market price and got my contacts to me in exactly 5 days, just as he said they would come. Then, to top it off, my glasses arrived a week ahead of schedule! He was extremely helpful, and his efforts to ensure I was satisified with the service were certainly apparent and appreciated. I had to sit on this for 2 weeks before I wrote my review. After letting things sit and digest for 2 weeks and really thinking things over... I'm really not happy. I walk into this place and was not greeted. It took about 5 min for anyone to look up and figure out they had a confused customer/patient there. The check in counter is in the back of the store which is fine. No smiles no hi how are you, just straight to business. Okay fine I get it. It's a Saturday morning and no one wants to be at work on a Saturday. I can sort of let it go. Finish my paperwork turn it in. Taken back and the process is started. Again super routine. Then meet with the Doctor. Only actual friendly person so far. Awesome! Literally with him for all of 10 mins. He gives me my one option of trial contacts and sends me out to check out... Okay standard.... Walk past my boyfriend make a comment TO HIM and the checkout woman seems to think she can rudely interject her feelings in my conversation with MY BOYFRIEND and ask me what's wrong and get snarky with me. HOLD ON I made a comment to MY BOYFRIEND not to you and it was not an opportunity for you to get rude! You don't know me or him. She never said hi or hello, just "What's the problem?" The problem is between him and I.. NOT YOU. Then she proceeded to talk down to me because she thinks I'm younger than what I am and honestly speaks to me as if I am a LITERAL CHILD. Not how it works! I work in health care and work directly with patients in a clinical setting and I have for YEARS! I am MUCH older than what I look. You should treat ALL patients the same way regardless. Then I was told I would get a call by Wednesday to pick up trials.... Two weeks later NO CALL NO TEXT! At this point after everything... I'm not impressed, won't be going back, and I want my money back for the contacts and the trials I still haven't received! I would not recommend this place to anyone and I would completely steer clear!!!!! Not worth your 1 hour headache and degrading. When I called this morning at 9am to state I wanted my money back, I was told the manager had to do the refund process and would be in at 11am and would call me. It's now 12pm just about and no call. I shouldn't expect a phone call because 2 weeks later and I still haven't received a phone call about my trials arriving. Trust me, if I have to put a fraud charge on my credit card I will. The staff here are terrible, the service is abysmal, and I will never be going back even if that means I would soon go blind! read more

I just left this place and they were amazing. I have been going somewhere else for a long time. I will return here again. The doctor Ms. Tiffany was wonderful, she explained everything. I've been having trouble with my eyes being fuzzy and she found out why. I went to Kaiser about six months ago and they gave me the wrong prescription for my lenses. I very happy that is all that is wrong, I thought it could be something else. The technician that helped me with ordering my new lens was also amazing. Three strikes and you're out. After paying nearly $1,000 for a pair of glasses I don't expect this level of service: 1) Not getting a call when the glasses arrive (after a 3 week wait because the lenses were special orders); 2) Discovering that the special order lenses really weren't done as specified and being told that the correct lenses had to be made and that it would be another 2-3 week wait; 3) Not getting a call when the corrected glasses arrive & having to call to ask if they're in; 4) After being told that the glasses are in, arriving to the store only to have the staff be unable to find the glasses. After waiting for 10 minutes the glasses were located, filed under "K" in a drawer. None of my names have a "K" in them. read more

Okay, where do I start. The positive: The only reason this place is getting 2 stars instead of 1 (or Zero if that were possible) is the kindness and patience of the staff. I have a very small head, and they do a fantastic job helping me find glasses in my size that look good on my face--that is a difficult job, so kudos to them for their help. They always help me pick out super cute frames. The negatives: I have super cute frames I cannot use. Last year, they accepted my insurance, which was great, so the price wasn't too terrible. They had to send the glasses back once because they sent the wrong prescription. They insisted my eyes just needed to adjust. Nope, the prescription was just wrong. This year (back in January 2017), I went back. They did not accept my insurance, which I found out after they checked my eyes, so I dealt with the over $600 price for the exam and glasses. Once again, they gave me the wrong prescription. They insisted my eyes needed to adjust. I've been wearing glasses since preschool, so I know what the adjustment period is and how it should feel. More importantly, I know things get a little distorted or out of place, but I can still read and see clearer than with old glasses. My left eye already is not too bad, so the left eye prescription shouldn't change too much from the year before. My right eye is always pretty bad and constantly changing. My astigmatism in that eye is always a hott mess and changing each year. The astigmatism was never checked. Again, I've had glasses since preschool, so I know what the test of that looks like. This year, I couldn't even see out of them. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried them for a day. I spent that day with a horrible headache as I attempted to strain my eyes to see my computer and my homework. After my headache got so bad I spent the evening throwing up, I took them back. I attempted to get a refund because they were horrible. I was told them never give refunds, but they'll do a recheck. I did the recheck. When I got the glasses back, they were WORSE. It was so bad, I refused to take them home and give the adjustment time. When I put on the glasses, I stopped being able to see the sales person in front of me at all. That's the opposite of what should happen. They claimed my prescription was correct, and that I should be fine. Without rechecking, they just decided they'd turn the lens to allow for the correct astigmatism, even though that was not the only problem. I literally could not see anything out of my left eye. "Is it too strong or not strong enough?" I said "No idea. I just know I can see you with my glasses off and I can't even judge your body outline when I put the glasses on. It is just not the correct prescription." After they sent the glasses back to get adjusted AGAIN, they never let me know when they were in. Almost 2 months later, I called them. They insisted I did get a message, but I did not. I went back in. The glasses were a little BETTER, but I still couldn't read. I could see the sales person's outline, but not her specific features. I tried to read the card on the table, and could not. When I said that I couldn't read, I was told yet again to give it the adjustment period. I said, "I'll try it, but if I can't read or do homework with these, I'll be back for a refund." I tried to wear them for an hour. If I didn't try to see or read, it is find. But as soon as I tried to read, I had to take the glasses off. I tried to read things far away, thinking maybe they corrected for the wrong thing. Couldn't read any signs either. I called the customer service line this morning, and they insisted I just needed a recheck. They ignored me all the times I said, "no. You have done the recheck. I need a refund." They kept ignoring that fact, so I finally had to say, "So are you going to give me a refund or do I need to get my lawyer involved," to be taken seriously. Just be aware, you will waste money and time here. You will end up going to a different eye doctor to get better glasses. Save yourself time and money and start at the other eye doctor. read more

- Office is convenient, being only a 10 minute walk from the metro and having a large parking garage adjacent for driving - Eye exam was speedy and affordable; the doctor was good about explaining things - Sales associate I worked with (Sarai, I think) was very helpful; I had already picked out several frames before my exam, so she took the initiative to go around and pick out some others I might like while I was in the exam! - They can use your FSA card, which seems like a given but I've heard of cases where you had to do a reimbursement instead - not always ideal if you're having to drop $$$, so being able to pay out directly is nice All in all I'm really happy with my experience here and plan to return even just for exams, great location and service all around! read more

I had to wait three months to get my glasses back, and when they came back they were made incorrectly. This occurred about three times. Just save the unwanted frustration and go to a different place. I had a great experience at this My Eye Dr. I schedule an appointment to get a contact fitting (needed to in order to update my Rx) and get some new contacts. I called prior to get my head around what it would all cost with my insurance and they were so helpful! When I arrived I was seen very promptly and the doctor was incredibly kind and efficient. Then the staff member who helped me finish up and order my contacts was very understanding (I wanted to change my contacts brand to a cheaper and more comfortable lens) and patient. All in all, I didn't feel like I was being nickled and dimed and they got my contacts order in straight away. If I have to get a contacts fitting every year I'm glad I found them! read more

I am happy to give Alex (now at another location) Travis and Denise R., at Silver Spring my outstanding ratings for determined and unparalleled customer service, especially in my case, as follows: It all started with Alex, a crisp and professional manager, who, a year ago stepped in, when part of my intended order was missing--I had asked for new lenses for my old pair along with my all new pair but the replacement lenses were not there; it appeared that they had not made it onto the order sheet. Alex remembered my case, he decided to order my lenses at no cost to make up for my disappointment. It required a special order and, when several weeks passed and I didn't get a call about them, I was pessimistic and thought that it was all for nothing--a year went by. This weekend, I wandered into the store, half ready to buy a pair to use at my computer, and happened to mention my story to Denise. She doubted that anything could be done after so long but gave me Alex's phone at his new location. He answered right away. I was ready to hear that he didn't recall or that it was too late, now, or something that would leave the blame on me for waiting so long to ask about the lenses. Nothing like that happened. Alex has a bear-trap memory and, of course, he not only remembered everything, he gave Denise a lead on where to find my lenses--she needed to check with the lab tech, who handles the orders--he has a special box. I am here to tell you that wonders will never cease!! The idea that Alex, assisted by Denise and Travis, who replaced Alex, would tend to my needs so patiently and cheerfully after a year of waiting for me, is more than worthy of compliment, I can say that I have never, never ever, received the degree of care and satisfaction that I got this year at My Eye Dr. in Silver Spring. What a great office. Today I arrived in town from California. While getting into a taxi at the airport, I dropped my purse and the taxi rolled over it!. My glasses were inside and the strong glass case kept them from totally being smashed and I needed the nose piece fixed and the glasses readjusted again. This is a great place to get prescription glasses and contacts. I was very impressed by the professional attitude displayed by the staff, who also were very friendly. Dr. Phan, the optometrist who did my exam, was very thorough and asked me several pertinent questions. I really felt like she cared whether the prescription was right for me. The Silver Spring location has a terrific selection of frames. Brian was great in helping me select new frames for my every day glasses and sun glasses. He made several good suggestions. This was the smoothest and quickest eyeglass purchase i ever had! I came to my local MyEyeDoctor in downtown silver spring desperate for a pair of glasses since i broke my previous pair. The variety of seriously top-quality frames made the decision-making process both quick and assuring. The fact that they were able to accommodate both my stigmatism and time constraints was awsome. The only reason I wouldn't give 5 stars is because the total came up to $500 and i do believe that there were extra things added to have it be so expensive without my consent. I believe the salesman's name was Alan, the manager, who was very nice and accommodating (as was the rest of the staff). Even though it just took me a while to come to terms with paying that much, I soon just decided to close the deal. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for high quality frames. read more

I've been going to this location for years and have always been happy with the service. This time around was different. I had lost my previous glasses due to misplacing them and I had gone in to get new glasses. The service was excellent and prompt. The issue has become receiving my glasses. It's been over a month since I've had my glasses and I cannot function without them since I need to drive and see everyday things and use them for work since I'm always in front of computers. I was only contacted once throughout all this and when I had to contact them they seemed annoyed. They said that they originally put the order wrong and had to contact them again to see what had to be done. But it does not take this long to do something as simple as this. I don't like writing reviews because it's a waste of time and not everyone is at fault. But at this point this is embarrassing and unprofessional and has been a joke the amount of hoops I have to jump through just to be able to see. There's been times when I forgot I need glasses. Every time I go, I feel like I'm being pressed to get more than I truly need. Last visit, they told me I need trifocals. Indeed, I need glasses for computer use and reading, but my distance vision is definitely good enough for now. I tried the trifocals they gave me in the lenses I selected, but found it impossible to make it work -- especially since my mediums. D long distance vision doesn't truly need correcting. I had them replace the lenses to only one prescription (instead of 3), so I can use them at work. All of this ended up costing me hundreds of dollars. read more

Buyer beware!!!! Watch out all these guys are professionally trained and hardcore sales people. What a terrible experience. fast talking and smooth. First you wait. Then after the exam you get to talk to some else. Have u ever. Even to a timeshare presentation. ??? If you have then you will know what I'm talking about and ... When u get your bill u better be sitting down They work really hard at adding things to your bill. If you ask for your prescription they look for excuses not to give it to you. They will only give you your prescription after u have ordered and used a trial set. I felt bull dozed I didn't think i was a push over until I went to this place. I asked for a refund of the contact lens and it took them 20 minutes with my asking repeatedly and guess what they will have to mailed it to me. They can't just put it back on my card. And it will take two to three weeks and only the manager can do the refund so once again another wait. So now you are paying interest on your money. Isn't that illegal????? read more

I have been going to this location for a few years now and have always had a good experience. The ladies at the front are very nice and attentive. Doctors are knowledgeable and do a good job explaining any worries or problems that might come up from the exam. Sales people are sales people, but they do a good job at matching a pair of glasses with your style and most important the shape of your face! read more

I come here annually to get my eye exam done. It's hard to get a same day appointment since they are usually booked days in advance. That's not such a big deal since eye exams are really emergencies. The wait times are nothing to complain about. I have never waited for more than 30 minutes for my exam. My only complaint is how much they push you to buy glasses from them. I don't have insurance so I have to buy my glasses and exams and everything/ The appointment staff will ask you if you want to buy frames and lenses, then the optometrist will ask you twice, then when you pay they will ask you again. They apparently will not take no for an answer. Thanks but I will not buy overpriced glasses when I can get them online for much cheaper. read more

Good afternoon, I really am quite disappointed in MyEyeDr. I visited the 8525 Georgia Avenue location which is right across the street from my job, and to my dismay, they would not accept my insurance at this location. Now, I'm really confused, really confused. How can you have on the front of your website the following: "We Welcome All Insurance: We work with you to make our eye care services and products affordable for you and your family, and maximize your insurance benefits and value. Learn More," and than NOT accept my insurance? You need to change your website because it is definitely in error. read more
