Just took western medicine some years to catch up. When my older son was in 3rd grade, he was waaaaay behind in reading. Not a little trouble. A lot. It was very strange because he was a very bright kid interested in everything, but struggled reading and hated it. He did vision therapy for a year and it completely turned him around. I know of two other parents who got vision therapy for their kids (not with Dr. Cantwell--with a different person closer to their homes) and also had excellent results. In our case vision therapy was the best thing we could've done. My son was really behind in 3rd grade, and by 6th grade he had some of the top grades in his class (your mileage may vary). Pretty unkind to call someone a scammer, don't you think? I took my other son to see Dr. Cantwell, and he was diagnosed with....perfect eyes. So if he's a scammer, he's not a very good one.

I had a redness problem that another eye dr had dismissed as no biggie and Dr Lamothe let me know it was a gland issue and got me a prescription and other remedies to help relieve it. I'll be back!!

He had a flat affect and set a negative stage. I said I prob need more than a routine eye exam but was happy to start w that. He lmk that a dry eye test isn't covered by ins (which is fine) and not to expect that I could do both in one visit (also fine). He then said, the appt will be 15 min tops, so it's not a time to ask questions. I said, of course I want to be able to ask a couple questions, espec bc of eye irritation lately. He said, "I see your insurance is (x) and that only pays us like $60 per visit. We can't give patients longer than 15, we'd go out of business" (!) I couldn't believe it. The rudeness and the gall of mentioning my coverage resulted in poor profit for them. I suggested he NOT say those things to new or returning patients and he said he was trying to manage expectations, that patients "always complain" they want to be seen longer but it's not doable. Talk about poor patient relations/ customer service. I realize what the medical system is up against w insurance is rough, but never has a public-facing clinic employee been so dissuading about the care their provider provides. I can't NOT recommend this place enough; take your business to an office that will value it.

I was so panicked and in so much pain and Dr. Stupiansky (and the whole practice) could not have been kinder or more professional. She made me feel comfortable during an extremely difficult experience (I never knew!) and even continued to follow up after the fact to make sure I healed properly and as quickly as possible. I was looking for somewhere else and came across Metropolitan Óptical on Zocdoc. The staff was incredibly friendly. I was greeted as soon as I arrived. I came pretty early, but they made sure that I got my tests out of the way early and then I saw the doctor. My appointment was quick and efficient, but I also learned things about my eys that I hadn't known before. I also have a lot of anxiety with my eye, but they helped me breathe through the various tests that often are a challenge for me. Every staff member I interacted with was fantastic. I will definitely be returning!

I was just getting comfortable riding the high of all green lights and zero traffic when I had the misfortune of entering the garage at 1700 N Moore. At first, it just looks like a normal garage. But as you ascend higher levels looking for parking you realize that's there are only like 10 parking spots per floor. Also notable is the fact that there were no elevators ... so I guess if you're disabled... better luck next time? I think I made it 3 or 4 floors before I decided to turn around (easier said than done because one lane for 2 way traffic) and find parking elsewhere. Luckily, I only encountered one other car coming while I was attempting going. I was going to make my way to the garage across the street but (surprise) the entrance on N Moore is employee only so take the entrance on N Lynn. So... 2 loops later, I made it into garage #2. Parking spaces were labeled weirdly, so I'm not even sure I parked in an allowed spot, but my car was still there after my appointment so there's that. I checked in w the security person at 1700 N Moore about the elevator situation and she said that the elevator was only available at certain floors of the garage. So ........ yeah. Also- Dr. Lobaugh is amazing. I followed her to NOVA optometry from her last practice in Arlington. Couldn't recommend a physician more. She's one of those people who just makes you feel like she gives a duck about you and whatever issue you're having. That's hard to find. She's basically the only person I'd ever come back to this god forsaken location for.

In some ways, viewing a master of craft is like an exquisite wine or cheese to be savored. Warm, comfortable, and confidently putting concerns to rest. Within minutes, Dr. Weiss disarmed what had been years of anguish and back and forth my teens. What was previously a battery of tests and experiments trying to diagnose "glaucoma" in a teenager was swiftly and adequately dispatched by accurately reading my mind and assuaging my concern from the moment the peeper was peeped. I've had nothing but a pleasant time with both the staff, Dr. Weiss, and the office in general. If you're in Rosslyn (or even want to drive in) it's a rare air were breathing! I went to the Rosslyn location but they don't seem to have a yelp page so writing the review here…read more Recommended to this practice after being a patient for many years at another practice - the other eye care practice was purchased by a PE firm and quality of care at least on lens fitting exams just deteriorated. For my appt, some staff gave me the peripheral vision exam, and some other routine exams first before Dr Hubert came for the eye exam for lenses. He was very patient, attentive, and answered all of my questions. Very happy with the experience. My previous experience at the other eye clinic was pretty terrible, an assistant was doing eye exam for lenses and a Dr only came in if there were problems, the sample glasses that the assistant tried on me with the prescription he got was still blurry, Dr was very annoyed that she had to step in and check the work instead of just signing off on it. That's what happens when health clinics get sold to PE firms, they focus on the bottom line more than patient care (trying to get assistants to do most of the work to free up Dr time and see more patients). Dr Hubert mentioned that NOVA Doctors have no intentions of selling their practice to PE and I can see the difference in care. Thank you also to the office staff who are very friendly.

Despite a longer than expected wait on a Friday evening, my experience at Northern Virginia Doctors…read moreof Optometry (NVDO) was excellent. Dr. Hubert and the entire staff were kind, patient, and professional throughout my visit. Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly by the front desk staff. Note that if you're a first time patient, you'll have several forms to fill out via paper. On the bright side, the pen I borrowed was super smooth to write with. Plus one star for that! For some reason, the doctor was behind, but the staff did a good job of informing me of the delays, popping in and out to let me know how much longer they'll be My not so favorite part about optometry visits is the puff in the eye and the dilation part, but that's just me. The tech was very patient with me blinking and having to re-do maybe twice or three times. Once seen by Dr. Hubert, the visit accelerated from there. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and was able to describe my conditions in a way that was understandable for me. Little did he know I come from a family of eye doctors, but I so appreciated that he was able to catch something my family had missed all along. The staff even gave me a week's worth of contact lenses samples as I was going away for a week, and that was so appreciated, especially since my visit took longer than usual. I was able to get my contact lens prescription via email too since it's a bit of a trek for me to find parking or walk there - super convenient. Overall, I highly recommend NVDO. Even if they have a slower / hectic schedule, they really do care about their patients and are super accommodating. Be sure to book way ahead of time because their schedule goes pretty far out - I waited 3 weeks for my appointment.

My wife and I both went to Dr Budner last year. I would not recommend this office to anyone. The…read morescheduling and the exam were fine enough, but actually getting my glasses took much longer than promised, and the promised calls to let me know the glasses arrived were never made to me. I only found out by making repeated calls to the office. But then the real nightmare began. Our insurance is on my wife's plan, and she dutifully paid the invoices as they arrived. Since then we have been getting monthly emails that the invoices hadn't been fully paid; on the first notice, my wife had the payment made, but Dr Budner's office returned the check saying nothing was owed. But the invoices kept arriving every month, for the same amount that was returned to us, with increasingly threatening tones. After some research this evening, there were two separate invoices, and the office may have confused them. Out of frustration, I just paid the last notice, not wanting my credit rating affected for a total of $12. As I said, Dr Budner is a fine enough doctor, and the office visit was fine, but the office operation will keep us away.

The walls are very thin so you can hear everything going on in the doctors office including confidential information. Also I recommend creating a space for patience to have privacy while their eyes dilate. I sat next to a little boy who was also getting his first eye examination. He started to cry when the nurse gave him the eye drops and I could tell he was embarrassed that I was there. The waiting room and exam rooms are a little dated and maybe need to be upgraded.
