Yesterday, some friends and I decided to go to Mystique Dining for dinner and a magic show based upon Mystique's 75% OFF admission special. After giving the 75% OFF price for admission ($80 less 75% = $20.00), Mystique added on an "undisclosed" $25 per person "service fee" (see https://mystiquedining.com/folsom-ticket-prices) plus another $5 per person "disclosed" credit card booking fee. Now, with $45-$50 for dinner, $20.00 for admission, $30 in service fees (YIKES), $10 in taxes, 15% tip, drinks, etc it adds up to $125-$150 per person x 7 = $875-$1050. And, if we cancel now... still months away from our reservation, Mystique won't give us our money back. Only a credit for another show. Sounds like BAD MAGIC (karma) to me. Wow this was such a fun experience! I went with my family this past week and the place is decorated for an Edgar Allen Poe themed which is so fun considering we are coming upon spooky season. Food was incredible - You get 5 courses and all of them were tasty and fresh. I got the prime rib which was gigantic and served with cheesy mashed potatoes and asparagus. So good! My brother got the macaroni and cheese and it was out of this world! Entertainment was so cool as well - a mesh of mind reading and card tricks. Those who didn't want to participate were able to opt out but it's much more fun to be chosen! I got pulled to the front and loved every minute of it. My husband and I are already trying to plan a second trip. If you have a special event (or just want a very memorable dinner) I would HIGHLY recommend Mystique Dining. read more

This entire event exceeded my expectations. I expected dusty room, hokey entertainment and mediocre food but was a amazed with fabulous Ambiance, great friendly service, really good food and super fun magic show. The prime rib, mashed potatoes, and asparagus d the vegan options were super good. The Cornish game hen was OK. It came with a very interesting cinnamon sauce, little potatoes, and a vegetable. The vegetarian lasagna was interesting and had like a puff pastry rather than noodle taste to it didn't seem like lasagna, but it was still edible, and it was a ginormous serving. The appetizers that we had were the stuffed mushrooms, which were really odd kind of an orange colored cream cheese that was aerated and I am the shrimp cocktail had perfect shrimp. It was tasty. The dinner also came with a starter Cristini with balsamic glaze that was delightful and a lovely salad then a palate cleanser of a sorbet and a super moist carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. The dinner also included Coke products and ice tea or water with refills. You each get a bill if you decide to have beer or wine. Wine was about $12 a glass. We had a fantastic evening at Mystique (this was a our second time). We entered the beautifully decorated room (decorated in a Halloween theme) where the appetizer was already laid out. The evening was themed to Edgar Allan Poe, there was a talking head who would read one of his poems or stories in between the courses. The appetizer was apple slices with a carmel sauce. It was good and looked even better. This was followed by a salad, then the sorbet which was delicious. I got the prime rib as a main, it was tasty and a good size. We finished with a cheesecake for dessert. Service was efficient and friendly. After the meal, the magician Andrew Goldenhersh came out to perform. He was friendly and funny and interacted with the audience even getting a few people up to be part of the trick. The tricks were simple - no showy effects but fascinating to watch, especially close up. A great and unique night out. Great for a special occasion that is something more than a regular dinner. AUGUST 2022 -- I'm months behind for leaving this establishment the review it deserves. I've waited years to book a reservation and finally decided to for my birthday (party of four). PRICING: Booking online is super easy! Depending on the seating you choose, prices range from $95.00 (General seating) to $105.00 (Premium seating) per ticket. My party and I selected Premium and paid $481.17 after handling fees and taxes. There's an option to pay gratuity (tip) ahead of time (20%, 25% or 30%) but we opted to leave a cash tip for the two servers and performer. There's a $20.00 corkage fee if you'd like to bring your own bottle of wine. Otherwise, coffee, hot tea, beer, wine and champagne are available for an additional charge. MENU: You're given the option of Prime Rib, Cornish Hen, Vegetarian Lasagna or Gourmet Macaroni and Cheese for your main entree. Shout out to Mystique Dining and their awesome staff for an excellent evening! I had never heard of Mystique Dining until I got a targeted ad on Facebook for 40% off their Edgar Allan Poe themed dinner and magic show. The Halloween/Fall season is my absolute favorite and I'm always on the lookout for festive things to do this time of year, so I booked some tickets and decided to go during one of the only free weekend I have before Halloween. I showed up a little early: about 8:20 before the 8:45 start time. The lobby was open so I got to snag a few pics and use the restroom before I waited outside for the show to begin. They let us in just a few minutes after 8:45 and we were promptly seated by reservation and given the run down and served drinks and our first course almost immediately. I was really impressed by the attentiveness and speed of the wait staff and the decor of the dining room. Everything was to theme and they really went all out on creating a spooky environment. Food was great, too! First course was a apple sliced served with a sweet cream (not sure what to call it; was sort of like whipped cream with more or a butter consistency) to dip the apples in and "witches toes" which were bacon wrapped dates. All good here and the bacon was particularly crispy/smoky. Really tasty! They served the apple slices on the side of a glass off water filled with dry ice, which bubbled and took on the color of the red light shining above (video attached). The water/dry ice was just for show but presentation was 10/10. Second course was a spinach salad with a raspberry vinaigrette. Nothing too special here but it had a delicious creamy goat cheese and the vinaigrette was good. Third was a "palate cleaner," which was a berry sorbet with some sugar glitter around the rim of the dish. Great presentation again and tasty, too! I'd have had this again for dessert. There were a variety of main entree options, from vegetarian lasagna, to Cornish game hen, prime rib, and more. I opted for the prime rib and was not disappointed. It was huge cut of meat, and was perfectly medium rare. Lots of flavor from a garlic butter that it basted in and a peppercorn crust. Mashed potatoes, asparagus, a jus, and horseradish accompanied it. I was maybe the only one to finish the prime rib, it was that big. But I planned that one right! The final course was dessert and was a death by chocolate cake. I am not a fan of chocolate so this went to my sister, who enjoyed her slice and got to take mine home. That worked out for me because I'm not sure I could've finished a slice after eating that hefty prime rib, anyway! Non-alcoholic drinks were free with the dinner and I had a few Coke Zeros. They also offered beer and wine for a charge, and seemed to have a decent and affordable selection. The evening ended with a magic show, which was fun and interactive. It's a different experience each night and they ask that guests don't film this portion, so I won't get too much into it. If you're interested, you'll have to see for yourself! Over all, a really great time, and a very unique experience. It's not something I'd do frequently but could see myself making a Halloween-time tradition by visiting around this time of year every year or so. If you're looking for a one of a kind, fun experience go here! Especially this time of year, they do a really great Halloween theme. It seems pricey but you get a 3 course meal and a show. It's a full experience!!! The food alone is worth the price. They start you with a little appetizer, witches toes which is bacon wrapped dates - delicious!!! In the bubbling cup was apple slices and on the side was a toffee dip, so good! Next course was a really good salad had beets, nuts, goat cheese and I believe a honey vinegarette. After the salad we were served a sorbet palate cleanser, a really nice touch! The prime rib was MASSIVE! It was delicious and served with cheesy potatoes and asparagus. And the pheasant was also really large portion. I saw others lasagna and it came in a deep dish and looked really delicious. Lastly we were served a huge piece of chocolate cake - when served dessert that is last call for drinks. You can take pictures throughout the experience except for when the performer is out, they want you to fully enjoy the show. I sat right next to the magician and could not discern the "trick" part of the magic but what blew all our minds was the mind reading experiences. We got the seats next to the magician and was within 2' of his tricks and still couldn't see the slight of hand. There was a group of 12 girls out for my daughter's birthday. The food was good. Not great. The show was good. Not great. The service on the other hand. The guy in charge was out of line more than once. He made three separate comments on my daughter's breasts. She was actually adjusting her strap and he asked her if she needed some help with that. I don't know if he does this every show. Hone in on one woman with large breasts and make comments on them. I would highly suggest that he keeps his degrading comments to himself. People laugh out of awkwardness. If he thinks women are amused by his comments then he is sadly mistaken!! read more

I've been wanting to try Mystique Dining since I moved to Folsom and finally got around to trying it as a date night with my boyfriend. The host seemed a little bit irritated when I asked him to take some pictures of us. My boyfriend said it seemed like the host didn't want to be there. Walking into the large room was awesome. It was beautifully decorated. We reserved one of the small high top tables with two seats, but we were told that it would be a smaller crowd that night and they were going to have everyone sit at the table closer to the magician which was understandable. My first impression after walking in was the dim lighting and decor was pretty cool. The dry ice was a great touch and made everything fun and mysterious. Everything was beautifully presented. My boyfriend ordered the Cornish hen and I ordered the vegan option. I don't believe there were much details on the website of what the vegan option would consist of exactly because the appetizer and the main course I received for the vegan option were both drizzled in balsamic vinegar. I extremely dislike balsamic vinegar and wish I knew ahead of time so I could've requested my food without it. I ended up taking it to go but never finished it. The only thing I would suggest is including more details of what the courses consist of. I definitely would've enjoyed the evening more if I could've had the chance to specify no balsamic vinegar on my food. The magic show was fun and the magician involved a lot of the guests. What a great night! We went for my birthday and not only was the food delicious the show was so much fun. The courses came out fast, one right after another and I struggled a little to keep up, but I get it. They've got to get you through all the amazing food so the show can start. Derek Ostovani was our performer and he was a lot of fun. I would go here over and over again. The small intimate setting was so nice and you really felt like part of the show. My husband and I saw a show here to celebrate our anniversary recently. We had seen a BOGO offer in July so we decided to splurge. Normally each ticket is $90-100 which gets you dinner and the show as well as soft drinks. Hot drinks like coffee and alcohol are an additional fee as are some food add ons. It was our first time at Mystique. It was definitely fun and worth doing for a special occasion if you wait for a deal to come around. Otherwise, it is NOT worth the price tag. I say with the price normally this would be 2/5 stars and not worth the price of admission for 2.5 hours. With a BOGO, I'd say it was 4/5 stars. Just FYI - in 2021 they did a BOGO ticket sale on social media in July and in December are now running a BOGO gift card offer in December. Not sure if there are other deals throughout the year. We upgraded to the seats nearest the magician and I can't say it made much of a difference. Any seat is fine as it's small and intimate. Now onto the food. If you are a picky eater you will not enjoy this as it's a prefixed menu with no means of making changes. The building is tiny and I don't think much of it was cooked on site. Other than the entree, the rest is clearly premade elsewhere. You are served a 5-course meal. The starter was scallops, which I'm allergic to. I had notified them of my allergy when I bought tickets but this was ignored. This was really disappointing since it meant we couldn't eat one of the plates. The salad was a citrus Dijon vinaigrette with blue cheese which is also a divisive option, but we both enjoyed it. The palate cleanser was a Raspberry and lemon sorbet. It was tasty. For your entree, you have a choice of the following: prime rib, Mac and cheese, vegetable lasagna, or Cornish hen. They offer several other options at an $18 upcharge which did not seem worth it. Those plates were no larger or better looking than the standard ones. Most people our dinner had the prime rib. This was cooked medium-rare, with no exceptions. If you need well then choose another, not red meat option. Many diners did not eat their prime rib because of this which meant their entree was wasted. You'd think for $100 each they'd be more accommodating, but since they clearly don't cook their own food I don't think they have the capacity to. The prime rib wasn't life-changing amazing or the best I've ever had, but it was good and I was happy with it. Not steakhouse quality but it was flavorful. The mashed potatoes and green bean accompaniment were incredible I have to say and soooo tasty. Dessert was a jelly doughnut cheesecake, that had definitely been frozen and still frosty. It was alright. We actually ended up being served by the magician himself as both waiters apparently called out sick. He did an incredible job with service and we were none the wiser until he came back out for the magic show! I'm not sure if maybe this is why they ignored the allergy request and weren't accommodating meat cookedness preferences; however, I'm not sure. There was never really any time in booking or when seated to ask for how you wanted your food done. They did ask for allergy at booking, but again this was ignored. We thought the magician did a wonderful job. The show was only 30 minutes (we timed it), but each trick was well performed. He had a great stage presence and kept us laughing. It's all done table side so no big tricks or stage. Everything was slight of hand, card tricks, mind-reading, etc. We did enjoy this as it was a fun way to end the night. We were somewhat sad that it was so short after the buildup, but it was fun and he did a great job. The atmosphere is very cool. It's a tiny building right along Sutter street in the middle of downtown Folsom. Everything is dark and moody and magician-themed. It was the Christmas season for ours so there was subtle Christmas decor and Christmas music but nothing in your face. Overall we did enjoy ourselves and thought it was a fun experience. I would advise you to not go if you're paying full price unless you're super-rich and don't care. It is not anywhere near worth that cost of $100 per person for ok food with no customization and a 30-minute show. At $50 per person when you factor in the BOGO deal then yes totally worth the experience. Don't go in expecting the best meal or show of your life, but it is a fun date or family outing for a special occasion. read more

After seeing this restaurant featured on Good Day Sacramento many times, I finally went after many years. This is a unique establishment where guests enjoy a gourmet dinner before participating into an evening of magic presented by magicians all over the world. Reservations are required so visit online to book your tickets. Monday through Thursdays have one show while Friday through Sunday have two shows. When you navigate through the website, you will have the option to select your seats and add to cart. Next, you will choose your entree consisting of a few options. There is an upgrade for Chefs Showcase that changes bimonthly, or you can stick with the standard options at no cost. They do have available add-ons and dietary restrictions for additional but the show includes an appetizer, soup/salad, palate cleanser, your entree, and dessert. We had a reservation made on Friday, March 3. Upon arriving, we were immediately greeted by the servers that would be hosting us tonight. After all the guests arrived, we entered through the double doors inside to reach the dining room to be seated. Servers started serving dinner right away and then dessert. After that, you are entertained by a magician for approximately 45 minutes. Overall, the experience was great! I liked the whole concept of entertainment and the overall decor and theme of the facility. There is not a dress code, and it's really a place to go for an initial experience or special occasion. The servers hosting were fantastic and constantly checked up on guests and cleared plates as needed. The magician who was performing did a great job in his performance to wow all of us guests. After our first experience here on date night we decided to come again with a group of kids this time. Food was still as good as it was before and service was great. Our magician Kris Bentz was extremely entertaining. The kids have become a fan of his overnight and have asked to go see his performance again. The exterior of the building is unassuming and it's easy to miss despite a doormat with the name and the signage in the front. The "butler" stands out front ready to open the door to an incredible experience. Walking in you'd be wowed by the decor decked out like a magician's cave. We had a great time! My son - aged 10 - has been starting to learn slight of hand magic and really wanted to see a magician perform. Found out said magician was set to perform at Mystic so I bought tickets for myself, him and his godmother to go. The venue super intimate with seating of 18 so you get to see the magic up close. We loved the show and the magician did not let us down. The food was solid - served in old fashioned style with palate cleanser mid stream. Service was great and friendly. We had prime rib and my son enjoyed his - portions were very generous. We could have shared a plate. He was excited about the left overs for tomorrow's lunch. This was our second time at Mystique in Folsom. Both times the food was excellent and the show was really fun! Our only complaint is that both times we really felt rushed to eat. The different courses come out with gaps of time in between but once a course is served, it felt like they were back a few minutes later expecting you to be done. Part of the problem I think was because we were sitting at the far end of the table and therefore the last to be served each time but then we were expected to be done when the guests who were served first were finishing. This was especially bothersome for my elderly parents. It would have been nice to enjoy the meal and a bit of a more leisurely pace. read more

The servers were great. The food was excellent. And the magic show was so awesome with Lady Jade. It was such a great experience. We had our granddaughter 16th birthday party here with 22 people.
