Our night was amazing. My friend and I went to celebrate our birthdays and it did not disappoint. The food and magic show were amazing. The evening started with an appetizer, which was a cucumber with a spiced cheese spread on top, then a beet salad, followed by a sorbet cleanser, then Cornish game hen, mashed potatoes with asparagus and lastly a chocolate lava cake. I wasn't expecting the food to be so good. It was delicious and the service was fantastic. The best part of the night was the magic show. I was Mesmerized. I have a wonderful story to tell the world about the customer service we experienced during our visit... My friend has a huge variety of severe allergies that make eating at restaurants an anxiety-inducing experience. She called Mystique a week before our reservation to request special dietary accommodations, but she knew how difficult it can be for kitchens to get everything customized -- especially with a pre-fixe menu. Her main hope was that her entree would be correct and assumed she wouldn't eat the other courses. She was happily able to eat her salad + entree. She assumed that would be the end of the food she could eat that night. As the cheesecake was served to the group, the staff (shout out to Mark!) surprised her. He brought out a special dessert (just for her!): Vegan avocado ice cream. Unfortunately, she's allergic to carrageenan, an ingredient in almost all ice cream, so she thanked Mark, but nervously asked about the ingredients. Some servers would have just shrugged. Others may have even lied and assured her it was fine. But Mark went the extra mile. He brought her the ice cream carton so she could read the ingredient list for herself. And guess what? It had NO carrageenan! This was the true magic trick of the night, imo. As for the rest of the review... All five members of my group agreed that they would have liked less food and a longer magic show. 45 minutes just felt a little short. And while the food was tasty, I would have been happy with just an entree and a longer show. read more

Made reservations with another couple friend months ago and at the time was shocked we were paying over $400 in total for a dinner and magic show combo. We trusted our dog park friends to steer us in the right direction with this high recommendation and so we trusted it was going to be well worth the cost. Unfortunately, we were wrong. Don't get me wrong, the food was really good and so was the service and ambiance - cheesy, but fun nonetheless. The magic show left lots to be desired, at least that was our experience on a Sunday evening. We heard other guests talking to one of our servers about the regular magician who works 4-nights a week and how Sunday is one of his days off. Now we know if we want to go back; however, with the high cost I'm not sure any of us 4 will. To give you an idea of the food, we were served a total of 5 courses: starter, salad, palette cleanser, entree, and dessert. The starter was thinly shaved cucumber and some microgreens with what tasted like a tomato cream cheese - good but nothing wow. The salad was a mixed greens salad with blood orange dressing garnished with sunflower seeds and canned mandarin oranges - good but again, really felt like they were trying to scrape by as high end or upscale and weren't fooling me. The palette cleanser was a baby scoop of raspberry sherbet and an even babier scoop of lemon sorbet- this was a crowd favorite. The entree was based on what we selected at the time of buying our tickets and out of the 4 of us we chose prime rib (cooked medium rare - really killer job on this it looked like), Cornish hen, and Mac & cheese. The meat was all cooked perfectly and the flavors were classic and simple. Good ol' American food really. The dessert was soooo good, but how could dessert not be? They served a raspberry filled donut cheesecake which meant there were pieces of donut on top of the cheesecake that had a delicious raspberry jelly atop as well as smeared artistically on the plate. The magic show is hardly worth mentioning. What you may imagine it being like is right, card trick, now you see now you don't, ya know, nothing outstanding. I can't think of a reason I'd go back but it was cool for a one-time experience. read more

Fun date night, & we were scouting it out for a possible work holiday dinner/show. We were really excited to go and got there early because we read about limited parking. Had a cocktail nextdoor and got to listen to live music. Doors opened right at ticket start time. Got to meet the magician while we waited. He was very nice. Since it is assigned seating, the usher calls your name and points to your seat. We got our tickets last minute, so the only seats available were the 2 high table/stools. It was perfect for us. The room is intimate, and eerie - It was great! The wait staff explained the process and started serving us our 5 course meal. We enjoyed all of our courses. My date got the pheasant and it was delicious. I got the musshrooms and although tasty, it was disappointing. Felt like a bunch of sides and not an entree (green beans, asparagus, potato and chopped mushrooms with a little pesto dip.) I like to try different vegetarian/vegan meals, but this one was a miss. Otherwise everything was great. The prime rib & mac n cheese looked delicious and didn't hear any complaints. After desert plates are picked up the show begins. There were some great tricks, but the show itself was a little slow. Throughout the dinner there were some Dickinson readings and that was cool. Things I would alter: Play music during dinner. It was awkwardly quiet for so many people in a room. Would be fun for the servers to be in character, as well as maybe one of the readings/poems be read by a costumed staff. We bought tickets for Mystique Dining for Saturday 10/28. Since it's Halloween season, the theme for the dinner portion of the show was Edgar Allen Poe. We listened to Poe stories and poems while we ate. Dinner started with two appetizers: bacon wrapped dates and apples dipped in caramel toffee. It was followed by crisp salad. Lemon and raspberry sorbet were the palate clenser. We ordered the prime rib, cornish hen, and 2 veggie lasagnas. The portions of food were large, fresh, hot, and delicious. Service was excellent. Dessert was death by chocolate cake. After dinner, the plates were cleared away. The Magician joined us in the dining area. His tricks were great mixed with music and emotional story telling. He added audience participation that made the whole experience more engrossing. Overall, we had a great time. Would definitely go to Mystique Dining again. A+ read more

I got a ticket to see my friend, magician Matt Donnelly, perform in an intimate setting. The price seemed high, but I was going to treat myself. The first surprise was the venue, which is very nicely furnished and designed. As Matt said, it looks like we can't leave until we solve a murder. The bigger, more pleasant surprise, was the quality of the food. I think I had been expecting something like hotel banquet fare for some reason, but what I got was truly excellent food, beautifully plated, and served in courses by our very friendly "maids". My prime rib was one of the best I've had. Having no more than 18 people at the large table made us all feel both pampered and comfortable with each other. Given all of the above, the ticket price now seems like a bargain. And Matt's show was hilarious. Catch him if you can. read more

I dont know where to begin because from the moment we walked in, everything was perfect!! This is a REAL LEGIT dinner and show. I havent had a completely perfect meal in a long time.... Everything from appetizer to pallet cleanser ect. you a pallet cleanser in between courses. The servers were on point with every course. Now the magic..... UNBELIEVABLE! We saw Steve Branhan and he is a PROFFESIONAL!! His stage presence, flow of the show, and magic couldnt have been better. After posting that review I was quickly contacted by a Mystique staff member who apologized for our experience and asked that we come to Mystique again, for free. I gave the Mystique staff member a new date that my wife and I were free and they booked us in for free. My wife and I returned to Mystique and had a much better experience. The ambience, food and service were all still good. The magician who performed was much better than the magician who we had previously seen. He was talented, charismatic and compelling. The reservation process was easy. I made reservations over the phone and the lady was very nice and was able to accommodate my special requests. The food was also very tasty and cooked to perfection. The actual show was slightly disappointing there was a talking head that told Edgar Allan Poe poems which had nothing to do with the actual magic show. We were so excited to see this show and dinner after waiting a year and a half due to Covid. It was quite possibly one of the worst shows we have ever seen! The headliner, Al Skinner who was supposedly world renowned, can be seen at the Woodland Public Library. While he seemed like a nice gentleman, he was not a magician for adults. I think he would have been better suited for small children (ages 5 and under). Also, the prime rib was extremely salty and the veggies were nearly raw. Don't waste your time or money! We have been to Mystic Dining 4 times, this was our most disappointing service the girls were very friendly but we could only get tickets for the last seating unfortunately seemed like everyone was tired and the show started a little late which was fine but for a special evening out you spend good money you plan to relax and enjoy seem staff wanted to go home it felt very rushed, was never offered coffee or tea with dessert, the magician by far was the best one we have had, if it wasn't for him it would of been a total bomb. It was my birthday wish for a few years to visit Mystique Dining Folsom. For my 30th birthday, I brought 3 family members including my grandmother along to celebrate. I booked the tickets online, paid to sit in the front seats and upgraded our plates to the fresh fish. We were beyond excited for this night and looked forward to it for quite some time. We were served by two amazing hostesses who brought out our dinners once we got settled. When the servers brought out our fish plates we were all shocked that the upgraded fish was still on the bone. Several other guests were also sharing in the confusing that the website description didn't mentioned anything about it being bone-in. I was fine with it but my 80 year old grandmother was very nervous about eating it as there was not a lot of light in the room. There was no sending it back as everything is pre ordered so my grandma continued to eat it. We tried to meticulously pick through what we could and then my worst nightmare happened. My grandma started to choke on a bone. We tried everything including bread and water to try to push it down. The hosts were so sweet trying to help us. We were seconds away from calling 911 when she was able to push it down. The most shocking part was the hostess told us that they have been telling management about people not being aware it was bone-in fish on the menu and it was something they had to deal with almost daily. I think it is so wrong to not listen to your servers or the customers who are complaining about this dangerous combo- small clear bones being served in a dark room!! After this stressful incident our experience was totally ruined and I was traumatized for the rest of the night. read more

AMAZING! Literally!!!! We went here for a holiday party last night, the décor and the ambiance of the whole experience was very cool. I had no idea as to what to expect. The dinner was nice but the kicker is the magic show! I'm not really a fan of magic, I think most of the shows are cheesy and we've seen them all in one place or another but to be sitting as close as we were to the actual magician AND the ultra awesome tricks he was performing?!?!?!?!?! Mind Blown! Even the people that were magic fans were blown away by Bob our magician. He was especially fantastic, funny but not cheesy and extremely entertaining. He could easily entertain an audience of thousands but you have the experience of having him right there in the intimate setting. I would highly recommend going here especially since it's right in our back yard and you don't have to go to the Bay or Vegas for this? The magic show was amazing and really unbelievable! Our magician, Gorge, was funny and he had everyone in the audience participate during every act. My partner took me here for our anniversary and the servers made it really special by announcing it. They also put a candle in our dessert for that extra gesture. I ordered the vegetarian option (veggie lasagna) and my partner ordered the prime rib. The steak originally comes medium rare and she asked to get it medium well. The rib still came out really rare! LOVED the dining experience here (cool ambience, 5-course meals with sodas included). I'm dropping a star because of 2 things: The prime rib can only be ordered medium rare. It was very bloody and chewy. Good thing they offered us to-go boxes so we were able to take it home and cook it a little more. The magic show was so-so. The magician seemed nervous. There was also a bit of storytelling that didn't make sense which I think he did to fill up time. The good thing about it is it's not the same magician every month so don't let this deter you from trying out this place. It really is a good place to celebrate special occasions.
