Just moved to the neighborhood right near this place. Pros: It's right by my house. They were illegally pirating Shaw & Hobbs, so saved me a trip to the movies. Was able to make easy appointment to remove Nexgen (we are on a break:) Cons: I was able to easily make an appointment at this illegal movie house/nail place because no one else was there. It's not that clean and it's like your grandma's - filled with Knick knacks and crap that hasn't been dusted since the Carter administration. I'm pretty sure there's a Sanka can somewhere hidden underneath the dusty fake plants. The owner was who did my nails. He was nice but I could have just done it myself with what he did. The paint job was like my nine year old did Tequila shots then painted my nails. I kept pointing out spots he missed and it was just BAD. I went in on a Tuesday around lunch time and was the only customer. There was an older gentleman there (seemed to be the only employee) who did my nails. I got a dip (Nexgen) manicure and everything from the removal of my old dip to his care in applying my new one was amazing. To remove my old one he used the drill to get off the majority of the powder so my nails didn't have to stay wrapped in the cotton and acetone foils for very long. I've never had it done this way before but definitely appreciated it! They have quite a few colors to choose from and he did make sure I liked the color on one nail before continuing to do the rest. My manicure is neat, precise and he was extremely gentle and meticulous with his work. The salon seems to be an older location but it is very clean and I enjoyed watching the tv while getting my nails done! I will definitely be back! read more

Very pleasant experience with a recent pedicure while in town visiting a friend. I made an appointment with a gentleman, and he was ready and available when I got there. He listened to my request to give extra attention to ingrown nails and did a super job. The shop had only one other nail tech who was working with another customer. Lily was amazing! They are very conscientious with health/safety precautions, and she did an amazing job with a dip manicure. Went as a walk-in for a gel manicure (French). Staff is pleasant, place is clean. I didn't hear my tech's name, but he was one of two gentlemen there. I had a lot of dead cuticle/ dead skin. He did a small amount of work on it before polish, but took a lot off after the polish was on, and was very rough- pulling rather than clipping, working super fast. I've had a lot of manicures but have never before worried that I would end up cut or with torn cuticles. When it started hurting, i asked him to take it easy (finished the rest at home w my clippers) & he did. The polish looks nice; french w gold tips instead of white. I've got to give a shout-out to my new favorite nail salon! Mystique Nail Spa at Lake Forest and Virginia is owned by husband and wife team Lily and Ricky. They are both so sweet and personable (and Lily is hilarious to boot). They take appointments and actually honor them! Have you ever made an appointment at a nail salon and when you get there you are still treated as a walk in, and they haven't saved a chair for you? That doesn't happen here. They actually turn walk ins away and ask them to come back later if they have an appointment coming up. They are both very meticulous and take a lot of pride in their work. I typically do next gen nails but decided to take a break today and get a regular manicure. Now if you've done the dip nails before, you know that when they get removed your nails can get thinned out majorly. Not the way Lily does them! Went to Mystique last night with my kids for 3 pedicures and 1 Nexgen. The customer service was fantastic. I normally don't post customer reviews, but this one was needed. The location is not fancy and new like some of these other locations, but I would return just for the service and they did a great job!!! Friendly and super focus on customer satisfaction. I tipped them 20% but left felling like I should have tipped more because of the experience. We were the last customers in, but did not feel like they were rushing to get us out so they could close for the night. I messed up the polish on my big toe and it was fixed immediately with no problem. I will return and next time I will take my husband because he needs his feet done...like stat!!! LOL read more
