Good Korean food. There's a few choices in the inner northeast side of town for Korean food. myung Ga Won is one of them. It's not very popular, but the food is made competently and it comes out quickly. Like most places they won't charge you extra for side dish (banchan) refills. On cold days I go for the jiggaes...kimchi jiggaes, in particular. It comes out boiling hot. On hot days, which is most days in San Antonio, I also go for a hot soup, solentang. I've had their dolsot bibimbap which is delicious. Their dokbokki (spicy rice dumplings) is generously portioned. Unfortunately, some items have fallen off the menu. Too bad, there were some that were delicious. The location is easy to find right near the interstate. If you're looking for an quiet place, this place may be it.

I ordered delivery and food was perfect packed! The kimchi stew was 100% amazing, I loved how pickled the kimchi was and the rice was cooked well also! As for the bean sauce noodles, it was tasty too, though I wish there was more pork, it was still super yummy. But the star was their side dishes *ban chan! It was incredible and I wish I ordered more. I can't wait to order from here again or go by sometime !

Food is amazing!! very flavorful and authentic. I highly recommend getting the rice cake appetizer its flavor is so unique. Service was wonderful, my glass of water never got below half because there was always someone to refill it. 10/10 I will definitely be returning :) the environment feels cozy as well

Awesome restaurant! Great food regardless of what you order and the service is fantastic; they treat you like family.

    Daeji Bulgogi

This was my first time at this restaurant and I have to say the food and service was incredible. I ordered the kan pung gi which was deliciously crispy and full of flavor with the perfect amount of spicy. My boyfriend ordered the daeji bulgogi and usually he's not the type to eat kimchi but this place made it so perfectly that he ate everything. The prices match the portion you're getting and the quality as well. The server was so kind and attentive I didn't catch his name but he was really nice. I wish this restaurant got more attention instead of the chain k bbq places.

Such an underrated gem for a quite night and great food. Service is probably the kindest in all of San Antonio.

My son and I had been looking for a Korean restaurant to go to here in San Antonio and found this gem based on Yelp. It did not disappointment!! The owner was so nice and the food was delicious! I was stationed in Korea and have had Korean food there and in the U.S. The food was served hot and with a few Korean sides....kichee, cucumber kimchee, Korean pancake and noodles. I had the beef bulgogi and yaki man do whilst my son has the beef kalbi. Both of our dishes came with rice. We will definitely be back. I highly recommend this place if you love Korean food or want to try it.

I have a conflicted heart when it come to this place, but then theirs my biased love for all Asian cuisine. That being said I can say the food is pretty good. What they really need to work on is there restaurant ambiance tho, it's super dark, dated and just old looking. It needs some brightening up big time and it would make a world of difference! Low lighting always has me questioning the restaurants overall cleanliness due to the fact that you need light to see dirt! The decor needs some help too. As far as what's important, the food was good! It didn't blow my mind and I'm not obsessing over it, but it's a good place to get your Korean fix. The fried chicken dish we had seemed more like a Chinese general Tso's chicken to me, but was still good just not what I was expecting. The pork belly bbq we got was ok but wasn't marinated or anything special, could've made it at home on a cast iron skillet. Seafood soup was by far the best thing, tons of seafoood and good to split between two or three people. I do wish they gave you more banchan (Korean side dishes) they were kinda minuscule portions and not much variety. Maybe it changes day to day? But I don't personably like having to ask for refills every 5 seconds because their banchan is small. Would I come back? Yes, but when is no telling it's kinda one of those places youre satisfies with but forget in your day to day.

I was hoofing it back to SA from Austin when the craving hit me upside the head! One of my favorite foods would be the Korean, Chinese noodle dish called Jajangmyeon. Black bean sauce- delish and hard to find the right flavor. This came really close and I will be back for more! I also got the tang su yuk which is the Korean, Chinese version of sweet and sour pork. This too was very good. The only negative I can point out, hence the 4 stars- noodles were a little over cooked and the pork to breading ratio was off. Can't wait to try the other dishes!

Came in with friends, Kevin tended to us and the customer service was excellent! We purchased the Mo-Dum-Gu-Lee combination BBQ and it was immaculate! Delicious! Scrumptious! PERIOD. The pork was juicy, tender, thinly sliced---perfectly portioned. The beef was well seasoned and juicy! The chicken wasn't my favorite but for sure on the starting line. All of the sides were fresh and perfectly fermented! The kimchi was mouth watering. We are declaring Myung Ga Won our new spot for Korean BBQ!

A hole in the wall, blink and you'll miss it kind of place that you definitely don't want to sleep on. The portions are definitely shareable with delicious additions to enjoy with your dish

    Delicious!

I ordered the crispy dumplings (pork) and spring rolls as appetizers, and the spicy noodle soup as my entree. My server came to take my order, and brought me the items as they were ready. The entree came out before the appetizers. The spicy noodle soup was spicy (as named) and it was good, but it was incredibly oily and the noodles were overcooked, so I didn't eat much of it. I would definitely recommend ordering this with rice, or taking it home and making your own. The dumplings and spring rolls were crispy, but nothing special. I did like the duck sauce they had -- I would have asked my server for more of it, but she was busy in the back or something, not sure. I wish she would've checked in on me a bit more during the visit so I could have gotten more napkins and sauce. The service was alright. I wish I would've gotten checked on a little bit more, but she was nice and helped me pack my noodles to go. Overall, this spot wasn't terrible, but if I had to choose, I'd probably try another place.

The lunch specials came with soup and egg roll, and fried rice. DH ordered his litmus test dish for American style Chinese- General Tso chicken. The portion was generous. The sauce was tasty. The chicken pieces tasted like your average frozen nuggets tossed in sauce. It's that familiar "seasoning" to the chicken and coating- iykyk. Not bad at all, just not the best. He enjoyed his egg drop soup. I opted for Hunan Beef. The sauce was thicker than I prefer, with an almost gelatinous consistency. The hot and sour soup was nice, a little more sour than hot. It was the in between time of late lunch 2:30-3pm so we thought we would miss the Sunday afternoon church rush. The parking lot and restaurant was full but didn't let it scare us. Shrimp Shumai and pork bao buns were so good. My kids asked for seconds We also ordered the sweet and sour chicken, spicy eggplant/tofu, shrimp& broccoli and the combination fried rice. My daughter and I cannot recommend this restaurant. It was better 15 years ago…read more It is too westernize now; meaning the food is more cater/made for western taste. When you walk in up to the restaurant, the view of ponds with large koi fish was very welcoming, however as soon as you open the door/walk in...it's a chaos of sports on tv and western music that will burst your burst your tranquility from the front of the restaurant. The restaurant was busy since it was lunch. We were seated right away. However it took the waitress a few before knowledge our small table. The waitress was in a hurry and look like she already had a bad day. She asked quickly what we would like the drink and we said water and hot tea but ask what type of tea they have? She mumble something I could not understand. So my daughter ask for green tea. We started off with appetizer as usual. Shrimp toast, chicken wrap, Asian bbq ribs then a cup of hot & sour soup. Main dish were Moo Shu Pork and Mongolian beef. Soup came out first...it was lukewarm. Cup was hot but soup was lukewarm. It was vinegary and salty. This is the first time I had seen/tasted imitation crab meat in a hot and sour soup. I'd flag the waitress down to let her know the soup was cold and if she can bring me another or warm it up for me. She gave me an annoying look and took the soup back to the kitchen. The Asian bbq ribs come out then the shrimp toast a few minutes later. The shrimp toast looks appealing. The shrimp were whole shrimp on top of bread, fried bread. It was ok...no real taste and a bit greasy. There were too much honey and chewy/tough for the Asian ribs. My soup comes back hot to touch... which means it was microwave...but not an issues; what was is ...it was still lukewarm soup. I try to finish it but couldn't. Soup needs to be hot; especially hot & sour soup. The chicken lettuce wrap was delivered. It was again salty; no real taste, except for the salt. A lot of mushrooms over powering the this dish. Keep in mind we had a small table and dishes are pilling up. It took a few before anyone came to pickup the plates. Half way through our appetizer, the waitress dropped off Togo boxes with a bag right after the chicken wrap was dropped off.... Staying it's for later. So we went ahead and packup the appetizers into the Togo boxes to make room. The main dishes came out about 10 minutes later. My daughter was very surprised by her Mongolian beef. It looks more like pepper steak then Mongolian beef. Most Mongolian beef are cook with green onions, yellow onion, garlic, sesame seeds and large slices of beef...some with a little sauce other dry so this is a the first for us to see a Mongolian beef looks like that. It was again too salty. There was more bell pepper than beef. The beef was slice small. The moo shu pork come out already wrap?? Which confuse me. Most of the time the thin rice pancake is on the side and moo shu pork is a little sweet and savory that comes with plum sauce so you can spread as little or lot of plum sauce into the rice pancake then top it off with moo shu pork. Since it was all roll up...it was very messy trying to pull it open to put the plum sauce. The dish lack favors...it had a char like taste. Usually moo shu pork is very flavorful and fill with flavorful juice from the ingredients like cabbages, bamboo, onion, mushrooms and eggs. There was no favor except a char taste. I have eaten here before a long time ago and it's definitely not the same taste/food and experience. We pack the food home so we can get a second opinion from other family members and the results were the same. I would never recommend for anyone looking for Asian cuisine. But if you like America/Asian cuisine/atmosphere then this is a place for you.
