We both loved our drinks, mine especially. It didn't taste overly coconut or like artificial coconut. There were shaved toasted coconut bits on top which were fantastic. Even my husband who claims he doesn't like coconut loved my drink. Cold foam is a must add. Food: tried the breakfast sandwich and chickpea salad. Both were fire. The chickpea salad might be my new fav Sac food item. Staff: very friendly and quick! Everything came out really fast and they were moving thru the line quick too so don't let a long line deter you. Other: they have some great local food, coffee, and snack items to buy. I'm a sucker for cool merch so we snagged a couple of their Starbucks-style water cups and a skull coffee spoon. The food was so delicious and satisfying, and I could not have been happier about having such good vegetarian options for breakfast. I got the lentils and the chickpea salad, plus a chai and pistachio cookie. We got the warm sourdough with miso butter. My sister raved about the chia seed pudding with nuts and fruit. Was it expensive?? 100%. I winced paying the bill, but did I regret spending that money when I was well-nourished and satiated on a long day of travel and work? No, no regrets. So much better than the typical eggs and pancake breakfast fare. They've done a lot more with the establishment since the first time I visited during the pandemic. This place gives off emo/rock/earthy vibes with a rock café twist. You won't hear typical cafe music here. They have indoor and outdoor seating, but the space is tight and limited. I needed something to wake me up, so I ordered their Coconut Water Americano with Strawberry Cold Foam. Unfortunately, I couldn't really taste any hint of coconut aside from maybe the toasted coconut flakes, and the same went for the strawberry. I was a bit disappointed, but it definitely woke me up. During my most recent visit, my former partner approached the cashier & expressed concerns about my presence while I waited in line to order. As I went to place my order, the cashier informed me that another customer was uncomfortable with my presence & that my order would be prepared to-go. The cashier then asked if that was okay with me. I felt uncomfortable with the situation, as it seemed I was being asked to accept different treatment without being informed of any specific reason. I found the experience unwelcoming. Came here with my husband for the first time and it was such a fun little unique spot. I got the fancy syrup latte and my husband got a cappuccino. The beans they used were AMAZING!! It literally had a cereal (fruity pebbles) taste and it was so unique. The workers also said they change the beans they use once they're done with the bag which I thought was really cool. What a gem! Forget Starbucks, come here. They have actual matcha for their lattes! I absolutely love the menu, staff, and vibes at this café! The music is very rock and the menu is very allergy friendly! I tried the matcha latte and some baked foods in my visit. My oat milk matcha latte was sweet but not too sweet and perfectly balanced. The vegan onion bun special they had the week I visited was delicious abet slightly well done. The cookie was a great way to conclude my meal. Unique vibe that is most welcoming. The "Eat - Slay - Love" on the door made me giggle. "May Our Deeds Outlive Us" was a YES moment. And that was just entering the place. Darkish interior than one might expect, but totally within the environment they built. Love it here. The food is not just the usual pastries. The London Fog cinnamon roll was delicious with a fruity component. It's a short time offering so go now to get in on this. The breakfast sandwich is a super smooth whipped egg in a wonderfully tasty sandwich. But as tasty as it is, it will be a little messy as one bites into it and the egg wants to try to escape. I really like that they have a bunch of vegan options here (pastries such as scones and cookies, sandwiches, and salads), but I wish they had a little bit more protein for them. I recently got a roasted squash sandwich (red kuri squash, date spread, sauteed kale, charred onion and sour loaf - $13) and while it was good, it would of been better with some hummus on it for example. I also got a half fall salad (lettuce, roosted shallot dressing, fennel, pear, herbsm and candied walnut - $7) that was really tasty and a good side with the sandwich. Previously I also got a vegan pasta salad that was good, but small and more expensive than I thought it should of been. Everything that I have had has tasted fresh and is different than what I can get elsewhere so that's nice. They often have loud metal music in the cafe so it is a different vibe than most coffee shops. Makes it a little hard to talk inside, but ok for getting takeout or if you are just wanting to eat alone. They have coffee/tea or wine/beer/sake. Immortal has a really cool vibe to it and is totally worth checking out. The stand out item that I tried today at Immortal was their breakfast sandwich. This item really surprised me in a great way. It came out piping hot with delicious bread that was crispy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. It featured an egg patty that was soft as can be. I don't think I've ever had egg quite like this before. The flavor was subtle and allowed for the other ingredients in the sandwich to really shine. It's not spicy, but there is a subtle little kick to the taste that really keeps you going back for bite after bite. My wife ordered the breakfast oats and she commented that there is no other place that really has a savory oat option like this. It came with egg as well as miso flavorings in the oats. I could tell she loved it and would certainly order this item again. It's can be a little cramped inside the cafe, but the overall feel is cozy and certainly a gem to enjoy for an early meal. read more

It took me over a year to make it out here. Every time I had planned to go, they were closed. I'm glad I finally made it! The decor is true to the death metal vibe that I got when perusing the menu online. The staff are friendly and patient. And if you choose to sit outside (they have 2 small outside tables and a couple benches, they bring you your order outside too. I went with friends on a Saturday morning. Together we ordered tea, an oat milk latte, a vegan chai scone, a vegan coconut scone, and a butternut squash sandwich. Everything was delicious, and the consistencies were spot on. To use the bathroom, you grab the key from the counter, exit the cafe, turn left, walk down to the next glass door, enter it, and walk all the way to the end of the passageway. Then use the key on one of the bathroom doors at the very end. The bathrooms were clean, and the one I was in even had a cute ghost hello kitty sticker (see the picture I shared). Where the window or sliding doors of the rooms would have been are now glass garage doors, opened to give the place an open-feel. Decor is simple with a bit of a gothic look. There's limited parking in the "motel" lot and plenty on the surrounding streets. But throw in a very vegan-friendly menu and delicious coffee and I'm swooning. This very solid first impression of Immortal Café included an oatmilk latte with Demerara brown sugar "fancy syrup" and it was quite good. I'd recommend you try it if you're down for a hint of sweetness. It was evening when we stopped by, so the food options were small bites and shareable. I tried both the potato chips (yum) and the Bertie, which was a truffle-infused fermented cashew cheese (double yum) accompanied by a seasonal preserve and crostini. The seasonal preserve was a candied orange marmalade, which elevated the whole pairing. So much deliciousness. The place is small and in a funky converted motel on the edge of Alkali Flats. I wouldn't bring a large group since the interior is more like a bar with some small seating arrangements. It is dog-friendly though with a couple of exterior tables. I'll be back to try out the Saturday vegan brunch for sure. read more

I have heard lots of great things about this cafe! I was very excited when we arrived to see that they had a parking lot! Super rare for a downtown coffee shop so that was a little bit of excitement for our Saturday morning. It definitely has a more intimate cozy feel inside, not great for big parties or kids, but they do have some seating outside so it'll be perfect in the warmer months! All of their food looked delicious as we saw other orders coming out. I'll definitely have to come back to try it out! We just ordered drinks this time around. They don't have any kind of specialty or seasonal items so I just picked a latte with the "fancy syrup" which is made with Demerara brown sugar. It was very creamy and the perfect level of sweetness for me. My husband's cappuccino wasn't the best we have had but it was a pretty looking thing! Service was great though, the cashier was very friendly and asked if we had been there before. I had an iced coffee with simple syrup and it was good but the coffee bean was very fruity. It could have been the simple syrup which enhanced the flavor of the beans. As a vegetarian, I was so excited when I found out that a vegan/vegetarian cafe opened in Sacramento! They have both indoor and outdoor seating and there is a small parking lot. We visited on a rainy Saturday morning and it was quite busy but there were still a couple tables available. We placed our orders at the front first before taking a seat and appreciated their vintage decor and cozy vibes. The place is dimly lit but adds to their cool ambiance. We ordered the strata, breakfast sandwich, and biscuits 'n gravy. We also each ordered a latte- matcha, vanilla, and fancy - all with oat milk. Everything was so delicious and fresh! We couldn't decide which was our favorite since we enjoyed all of them! The strata was so soft and perfectly savory. All the ingredients of the breakfast sandwich were extremely fresh and so flavorful. The alioli sauce was on point and compliments all the ingredients so well! The biscuits 'n gravy was so tasty. We also really loved all our lattes, each with very distinct flavors. My favorite had to be the latte w/ fancy syrup - delicious with a hint of brown sugar! My neighbor texted me one morning out of nowhere about Immortal cafe & Supply- and she was right. I'll come back with my partner and eat. I'm a former dedicated vegan and this place is great for vegans and everyone who just wants real coffee and real food. The air inside isn't thick and sticky with the heavy meats and oils places have- sticking to the items and walls ( yuck) I hate it. And it's noticeable if you lean towards clean eating... Metal music mentioned in the reviews did cause hesitation... but I walked down anyway. Today it was a musical- and that always slaps - Advised: ask about ingredients!! I didn't - my fault - and was absolutely startled and sad for a second- when my coffee drink came out looking like a food !
