We ordered a variety and everything was spot on. From the catfish fried in beef tallow to the smoked chicken Gorgonzola salad, we loved it all. I think that was the best salad I've ever had....ever. This is good BBQ. I was disappointed that they didn't have the beef rib on any day but Friday and Saturday, but I'll know for next time. We instead had brisket sandwiches (mine with slaw my wife's with cheese) and they were really good. We paired those up with the corn and Mac n cheese and fries. The corn and Mac n cheese were some of the best you'll find at a BBQ joint. The fries id pass on and will in the future. We also ordered a rack of ribs to go and they were delicious! I was in town for work. The last time I was in Texarkana, I went here with a coworker. He said Naaman's is in the normal rotation when he's in town, so I guess it's in my rotation now too. I went on a Monday night around 7PM. The dining room wasn't full but there were very few open seats. I had been in the hotel room for a couple hours before going to dinner. The room was an icebox so I opted to sit on the patio and thaw out on a warm July evening. I got the brisket and sausage 2 meat dinner with cheesy corn and meat in the beans for my sides. I think it's the same thing I got my first time here. Everything was great. I didn't need to add any BBQ sauce because the beans came with enough. The ambiance was great, decor really cool (think steampunk and vintage and trophy animal head mount mashup) service friendly and impeccable and the brisket nachos were insanely good according to the other 3 in our party. I don't like my food to touch each other so i skipped those and went straight to my chicken fried steak (it is an actual steak) and twice baked potatoes which were a hearty portion size and great value for $16. So I'm with the wifey and our best friends on our way to Memphis for new years when we happen upon this place for dinner. The decor is really cool and they had a man playing the piano in the middle of the dining room, it just does not get much cooler than that! I usually like to pair my soft drink choices with my food, so I asked if they had Pepsi or coke products. To my total surprise they have neither, only what they call sugar cane sodas on draft. So I just asked what the waiter's favorite was and she recommended the huckleberry lemon one, that she said tastes similar to a flavored sprite. It did, but it was No Mountain Dew. But let's get to the real reason why anyone comes to a bbq place, the food. I ordered the double meat plate with brisket and pork ribs and my sides were some kind of cheese corn and coleslaw. The food comes out, and I took my first bite of brisket and my life changed!! It's that good guys. I'm about halfway done with the meats and I just got up from my table and walk back into their kitchen and asked the cook to marry me! This may or may not be 100% accurate, but in my defense I was in a bbq brisket coma and everything went a little blurry for me from that moment on. I do remember also hanging out with Scott the piano player and requesting songs from Boston to be played. He does a great rendition of "-Sweet Caroline" that had the whole place singing. Next thing I remember is waking up in my hotel room with bbq sauce all over my face. One of the best BBQ restaurants I've ever had and I make a point to visit a BBQ place any time I travel. Firstly it's rare to see beef short ribs and this place does it well. They also have the best sausage I've had that's a blend of angus beef and pork. It's made in house and tastes amazing. What surprised me the most was also the chicken. It's so flavorful and smoky. We also ordered blackberry cobbler and it was divine. Over my expectation for dessert quality from a bbq restaurant. The service was amazing, super friendly staff who all seemed to be enjoying working there, food lovers and enjoy each other's company. Really love the interior of the place as well. It was ok. The smoked turkey was good. Had better Mac and cheese. Penne and like an Alfredo sauce or something, why? It's bbq, just give me some elbow macaroni and gooey cheese sauce. The greens were delicious though. I am just not a fan of table service at a bbq place. Why? It's bbq that's already expensive. And it should all be prepared and ready to go.
