This was my first time at Naan & Beyond and it definitely won't be my last! The cashier, who was also the cook greeted me with such friendly customer service. He took the time to walk me through the menu since I was new here, which I really appreciated. The food is made fresh, so you do have to wait a bit, but it's absolutely worth it. We ordered the Meat Box (goat meat over rice) and the Chicken Box (butter chicken over rice). Both dishes came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The basmati rice was delicious, and I also added naan bread. Next time, I'll probably go with plain naan instead of garlic -- but that's just personal preference. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion size. While it's not a full dine-in restaurant, there is a small seating area just a few steps from the ordering counter. Overall, a wonderful first experience! I noticed another family enjoying what looked like a kabob platter, and I'm already looking forward to trying that on my next visit. Highly recommend! Do you want me to make a shorter version too, in case Yelp has a character limit?

Delicious Saag and Mutter Paneer Curry and crispy Dosa! The food is on the mild side and surprisingly not greasy. There's a lot of menu items with both Northern and Southern indian food. I was pleasantly surprised to see 8 curries to choose from, 4 vegetarian and 4 non-veg, the curry selection changes from time to time. While it's sad to see both DC locations close, I'm glad that Naan & Beyond opened up in Tyson's. The old lady working there is very sweet and nice and reminds me of my grandma nani. I ordered a feast with my family and enjoyed the combo deal with creamy Saag (spinach) and Mutter (pea) Paneer and upgraded from Plain to Garlic Naan for a $2 upcharge. The Saag were tasty and on point, I just wish there were paneer and I felt like something was missing - Palak Paneer would be so nice! The Mutter Paneer had a heap of paneer cubes, with a thick and mildly spicy, Tikka sauce. The peas were hard and didn't have the squishy, tender texture. Overall, both dishes were pretty good. While the Garlic Naan was tasty and flavorful, it was a bit flat and didn't have the fluffy pillowy soft texture that I was hoping for. The Masala Dosa was crispy, the savory crepe was stuffed with potatoes and we all devoured it! The crispy Samosa was good and the Mango Lassi was on the sweeter side, but paired well with the meal. The Paneer Tikka Kathi roll was fun to try, but had an overpowering spicy kick and recommend just getting the Paneer Tikka on the side with naan. My family and I enjoyed a delightful feast and the Indian food hit the spot! Excited to come back again with the family.

Noticed this new shop and decided to give it a try! Maybe not authentic but nice they offer rolls which makes it easy to eat and walk around the mall! We got the butter chicken roll and it was pretty tasty. The chicken is a little dry and it has many veggies. Tasted like a healthier lighter less saucy butter chicken and the roll itself was good too. 3/5 Will be happy to stop by and try something new on their menu next time :)

As food doctrines go, Lahori cuisine is a category on its own. Hailing from the once capital of the state of Punjab in undivided India, it was influenced over centuries by the many empires that ruled it from Persian to Mughal to Sikh to British and was enriched in each period. Independent India claims many who hail from the city and have carried it's rich culture and food traditions forward into the modern age while maintaining that unique combination of flavor, texture, style and hospitality that still stands out among Punjabi cuisine and is revered in both India and Pakistan alike. I give this introduction because no matter where you find this taste, you can be assured of a memorable meal that is a feast for the eyes and palette. Naan & Beyond may be a mere hole in the wall joint tucked in a quiet corner of the Tysons Corner mall in McLean, Virginia, but it is run by a passionate family that marks its roots in Lahore who were displaced to India after the Partition and have made the U.S. their home for the last 40 years. I found myself at Naan & Beyond yesterday at dinner time while casually strolling the mall and noticed the Tawa Paratha Flatbread on the menu . Even though this is breakfast food, I immediately felt a craving for it and ordered an Aloo (potato) and Gobi (cauliflower) plate along with a masala chai. It took only a few minutes to arrive, each plate with one very large paratha topped with a small stick of butter with mango pickle and yoghurt raita on the side. Each flatbread was stuffed to the edges with the spiced stuffing and had been fried to perfection on the tawa (grill) to give that beautiful look with scattered spots of charring on the surface. The art of the paratha is in the chefs ability to keep the layers of flour holding the stuffing to the absolute thinnest possible allowing the ghee to penetrate inside and cook the stuffing. It was perfect! ...brought back memories of my mother's cooking at home with each bite providing a mouthful of indulgence that was enhanced with the butter, pickle, and the rich and creamy cumin and fenugreek flavored raita. The lightly sweetened masala chai was the perfect companion to the meal as I slurped it between bites. The menu has several other options including their signature naan rolls, combination boxes, and some fusion dishes as well as mango lassi...all of which I intend to go back and try, i.e. if I can hold myself back from re-ordering the parathas again! Highly recommended!!!

I stopped here for a quick bite and got the butter chicken naan roll. It was really good and flavorful. I'm glad I decided to try it out.

Plump, tender shrimp swimming in a velvety tomato-cream sauce with real backbone -- that warm, layered heat that builds slow and lingers just long enough to make you reach for more. It's the kind of dish where the spice actually means something: cumin, coriander, a whisper of clove, and a chili kick that says the kitchen isn't playing it safe. We ordered it medium and it hit that perfect sweet spot where flavor and fire are in balance. The garlic naan was the ideal partner -- pillowy, blistered, and dripping with garlic, perfect for mopping up every last drop of that sauce (and trust me, you'll want to). The Chicken Hakka Noodles brought a totally different energy: smoky wok-tossed heat, springy noodles, and that savory Indo-Chinese punch with just enough chili to keep things interesting. Everything arrived hot, sealed tight, and right on time -- no leaks, no sad soggy containers, nothing lost in transit. Generous portions, free delivery, and food that tastes like it came straight off the stove. If you like your Indian food with genuine spice and soul, Bansari delivers. Literally. Highly recommend!

Delicious Indian restaurant - great happy hour and brunch spot!…read more The happy hour from 4pm-7pm Monday-Fri is an amazing deal. I ordered 2 dishes and a cocktail for under $20! I requested for the Paneer Tikka Flatbread (not on the menu)- vegetarian version of the Chicken Paneer Tikka Flatbread. The naan pizza was delicious, it was stuffed with cubes of paneer with a side of Tikki Masala dipping sauce. Highly recommend it! You can get the Paneer Pizza next door too! The Paneer Tacos were filling and fun to try, but large chunky blocks of paneer. While I enjoyed the spicy mayo sauce, I wish the paneer was cut up into cubes. It just felt a bit heavy with the paneer. The Spinach Artichoke Fritters (4) were tasty. The Mango Mojito and the Mumbai Mule cocktail weren't that good, but it honestly it's hard to complain when it's only $6/drink. The unlimited weekend brunch at $38 is a great deal and well worth it! You can choose from over a dozen Indian fusion dishe - as a bonus mango lassi, chai, and soft drinks are included! You can order 2 dishes/person at a time and the servers hastily swing by to clear your plates and place your next order! Between the 3 of us, we ordered almost conquered the full brunch menu and had a delightful brunch feast! The food had a spicy kick, but not overpowering and wasn't greasy. The portions range from small, bite-size apps to full, large entree size. There's a lot of vegetarian dishes on the menu with a few non-veg as well. There's a good balance between traditional Indian dishes and Western fusion with a hint of American flavors/presentation. My favorite stand-outs: - Aam Chat Papri with crispy Papri pita like chips with mango, chick peas, and potatoes smothered in yogurt and chutney, and topped with spicy garam masala mix - Chana Bhatura with chick pea curry and fluffy, bubbly fried bread. Large portion. - Spinach and Artichoke Fritters - Crispy bite-size balls filled with creamy spinach artichoke dip, 4 come in an order and perfect for sharing! - Aloo Bravas - Crispy, diced potatoes very reminiscent of the Spanish Patatas Bravas with aioli sauce and mild masala spicy kick - Butter Chicken - My friend enjoyed it, solid full entree size. I didn't order or try it in, but it looked pretty tasty and could easily why she made a happy empty plate! - Nutella Bread Pakora - Tastes like a bites-size Nutella fried donut! So good we ordered another one! - Helluva Hallawa Trio - I enjoyed sampling the 3 types of Hallawa, ranging in savory (carrot) to more sweet and milky (my favorite). - Mango Lassi - The sweetness of the mango lassi helped to balance out and absorb the spiciness of the food. - Masala Chai - Great ending to a meal, perfectG caffeine pick me up! Paired well with the Nutella bread Pakora. The other dishes on the menu were fun to try, but would probably skip and save room for my faves: - Aloo Sabzi and Katchuri - The dense hollow shell katchuri (similar to a round empanada) made of dhal lentil smothered in Aloo potato curry sabzi was very filling and dense. After a couple of bites, I threw in the towel. - Egg Burgi and Paratha - The masala spicy scrambled egg on paratha flatbread was kind of bland and a very small portion. - Mango Mimosa - While the mimosas were only $4, it was quite tangy and didn't pair well with the meal. I wish fresh mango juice was used instead of mango flavored juice (tastes like Izzy). The lunch buffet (Mon - Fri 12pm - 2:30pm for $23 wasn't the best experience. Admittedly, I came to the buffet at 1:30pm and the food was tepid and sadly overcooked under the heat lamp. The plates were very small and it was hard to fit a bunch of food. I went to the buffet at least 3 or 4 times to try out the dishes in search of the perfect bite, which I sadly couldn't. There were 5 main standard dishes with 3 vegetarian dishes (Dal Makhani, Aloo Ghobi, and Mehti Paneer) and 2 non-veg featuring both chicken dishes (Butter Chicken and Chicken Curry) and a galore of fried fritters/pakoras (spinach, onion, potato) with a couple of new rotating stations with Pani Puri (not much going on) and Spinach Tikki and Fish Pakora fried fritters. The Mehti Paneer was quite greasy with a coat of grease at the top and the paneer was pretty stiff. It wasn't tender. The Dal Makhani was bland. The potato aloo potatoes were brittle as they were sitting under the heat lamp too long. The best part about the meal was the fluffy naan, which was made-to-order. I enjoyed 2 rounds! Order the Masala Dosa crispy! When we got it the 1st time on the lunch special, it was a bit rubbery and soggy. After the server asked us a few times whether we liked it, my hubby relented and told him the honest answer. The server got the dosa re-made to go extra crispy, which did the trick! The masala potatoes paired well with the dosa. I wasn't a fan of the Sambar. Based on the glowing brunch and happy hour experience, I would come back to try the lunch buffet with an early start right when it opens!

I was verrryy shocked by the taste, almost tasted ritualistic it was so oddly gross. Lol Best service I've ever had at an Indian restaurant and food was delicious per usual of Indian food. The space is beautiful and feels much more upscale than the prices would suggest. I was honestly shocked by how reasonable everything was. The Bollywood music added to the atmosphere and made the whole experience feel even more fun. The restaurant was fairly busy when we visited, so I was pleasantly surprised by how fast the service was. We ordered the chili garlic noodles, ragda pattice (for the full Mumbai street food experience), date naan, and the paneer lababdar that was recommended by the staff. Every single dish was flavorful and delicious. The paneer lababdar was especially good, and the date naan was a pleasant surprise. The bathrooms were clean, parking was easy, and overall the experience was very comfortable. As for the service, the staff were perfectly polite and efficient, though not particularly warm or engaging. Nothing negative at all--just not the type of place where the staff goes out of their way to chat. That said, with food this good and a restaurant this busy, it hardly affected the experience. Overall, the food was absolutely the star of the show. If you're looking for flavorful Indian food in the area, Mumbai Central is definitely worth a visit.

Unfortunately, each dish we tried was worse than the one before. Samosa was ok, although spicier than necessary. The Papdi Chaat was a mushy mess. The Butter Chicken, was ok, although it was missing any distinctive spicy or creamy flavor. It was the only truly edible dish we could both eat without feeling sick after. The basmati Rice was good at least and the Garlic Naan was quite tasty that day although never reheated very well which was disappointing. And the Vegetable Korma, wow, that was by far the worst. It smelled and tasted more like veggie Alfredo than korma, and I don't mean that in a good way. I've had Korma at many Indian restaurants in the past and never, ever, ever had one this bad that caused both my wife and I to refuse to have any more after our first tries. All in all, as bad as the food was, I must say that I am most annoyed and disappointed not with the restaurant l, but rather with all of the positive and glowing reviews that the community previously had given this place. Had anyone who wrote an earlier review tasted Indian food before, or did we somehow figure out some wild algorithm of different dishes that were different than what anyone else had ever ordered from this restaurant??? I just can't figure out the answer to that one...and last piece of advice, do yourself a favor and if you've found a restaurant that you previously have loved and were happy with, don't rock the boat and stupidly try something else, because take it from me in this case, you WILL BE DISAPPOINTED.
